October 26-27-28: Israel launched air attacks in Gaza and
invaded parts of the West Bank after a resistance fighter
carried out an attack in Hadera [occupied Palestine] killing

Pakistan : Frontier Province and Kashmir. Two million homeless
people are facing a cold winter and disease as an aftermath of
the earthquake. Saudi Arabia has set up an air bridge sending
thousands of tents, stacks of medicine and quantities of clothing
to the stricken population. Tens of thousands of people are still
cut off from relief in far away villages. Pakistanis are urging
General Musharraf to bring in the full force of the army to rescue
the people. This is the biggest tragedy in Pakistan's history and
General Musharraf's American agenda has deprived the victims of
the huge resources of the armed forces. [Most Pakistani troops
are on the Afghan border trying to help America to stop the
Jihad being waged by the Taliban. 500 Pakistani troops placed
to stop mujahideen movement into occupied Kashmir were
killed by the quake. Two hundred Indian troops are
also reported killed by the quake.]

The Best of Women
Ramadan 17, 1426 was the anniversary of 'Ayesha Siddiqa,
radi Allah unha, daughter of Abu Bakr, r.a., and wife of
Muhammad, pbuh. Chapter 24 of the Qur'an was revealed to give
women their rights and honor when the hypocrites tried to
slander 'Ayesha, r.a. Her contributions include the process
of interpretation of the Qur'an and narration of Hadith as
key to understanding the Qur'an.
'Ayesha [r.a.] narrates: The messenger of Allah [pbuh] said:
One who faces difficulties owing to his daughters and treats
them well, will find that they will screen him fom the Fire
[of hell]. [Hadith, Sahih Muslim]

Non-Muslims Urged to Join Fast on November 1 to Support Hunger
Strike by Guantanamo Bay Prisoners[Appeal from Center for
Constitutional Rights.]
Dear Friend,
Since early 2002, the men held at Guantánamo Bay have waged
desperate and at times life-threatening hunger strikes to protest
their detention without trial and the conditions under which
they have been kept.. The current hunger strike, which began
in August 2005, has involved the participation of over half
of the estimated 540 prisoners still there. Many are now
prepared to die if they do not receive a fair hearing or
humane treatment. Please join the Center for Constitutional
Rights in a Fast for Justice on November 1, 2005 to show
your solidarity with those being kept out of the public eye
and to raise awareness for their plight . Click here to let
the U.S. Government know that you support fundamental
human rights and do not believe that the
Bush Administration is above the law.
During the month of Ramadan (early October - early November),
Muslims around the world fast from sunrise to sunset.
CCR is asking people of good conscience, regardless
of your background or affiliation, to join in
the fast on November 1, 2005. We will also hold a
vigil in Washington, D.C., to protest the dire plight of
the men illegally imprisoned at Guantánamo Bay and call on
the Administration and Congress to deal clearly and honorably
with the issues at Guantánamo. Please join us in the fast and
vigil on November 1st and show your support for this effort
by wearing your "Hungry for Justice: Nov. 1" sticker on
that day (check our website in the coming week to download
the image and print it out). Click here and make your voice
heard by demanding that the Department of Defense take the
following steps to bring torture, abuse and inhumane
treatment to an end at Guantánamo:
-
give the detainees a fair hearing and immediately release
those who have committed no crime
 -
provide adequate food, water, shelter, medical treatment
and the observance of religious practices;
 -
provide to families and legal counsel timely reports on the
health status of detainees, especially those
participating in the hunger strike;
 -
provide independent investigators (domestic and international )
access to all detainees.

The Fast for Justice, like all of CCR's campaigns, can only
be a success with your help. Please join us in standing up
to the Bush Administration and making sure that human rights
are protected at Guantánamo Bay.

"U.S. soldiers cleaned their boots with Qur'an pages"
10/22/2005 (aljazeera.com)
http://www.aljazeera.com/cgi-bin/news_service/middle_east_full_story.asp?service_id=9888
A Bahraini detainee held at the U.S. detention center in
Guantanamo Bay, Cuba revealed more sexual abuses by the
American soldiers there and confirmed Qur'an desecration.
Jumah Al-Dossary, one of six Bahraini detainees the U.S. holds
in Guantanamo prison said he was subject of sexual abuse. He
also confirmed desecration of the Qur'an, Islam's Holy Book,
by U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan, The Associated Press reported.
Al-Dossary, 30, said he witnessed U.S. soldiers at Kandahar
Air Base in Afghanistan cleaning their boots with pages
they had ripped from the Holy Qur'an.
According to the recently declassified documents issued by
his lawyer Joshua Colangelo-Bryan Al-Dossary, the Bahraini
detainee was beaten and stamped on by eight U.S. soldiers, as
he was recovering from an earlier stomach operation.
Sexual abuse In September 2002, Al-Dossary was taken to an
interrogation room where he found four MPs, one carrying a
video camera. Al-Dossary said he was shackled to the floor,
stripped naked on orders from a female interrogator, who
stripped and squatted over his genitals, chest, and face
smearing him with her menstrual blood to force him admit
having links to Al-Qaeda network.
On a later occasion Al Dossary says he was forced to watch
naked man and woman having sex, then offered sex with the woman
if he co-operated with the interrogators, Gulf Daily News reported.
Al Dossary's accusations of being harshly beaten and
stamped on by U.S. guards have been widely reported already.
Now Al Dossary suffers heart problems, and he wakes up
screaming from nightmares. He fears he has been driven
to mental illness, the paper reported.
After visiting all six Bahraini detainees at Guantanamo jail,
Colangelo-Bryan, who has just arrived in the U.S., says the
six men fear they will stay there for the rest of their lives.
Force-fed torture
Hunger-strikers at Guantanamo jail accused U.S. guards of
repeatedly inserting and removing dirty feeding tubes until
the detainee would vomit blood.
According to declassified documents recently released by defense
lawyers for three men held at the U.S. detention center in
Cuba, the guards used feeding tubes as thick as a finger,
as objects of torture.
"They were forcibly shoved up the detainees' noses and down
into their stomachs," the lawyers reported to a federal
judge in August. "No anesthesia or sedative was provided."
The force feedings resulted in prisoners "vomiting up
substantial amounts of blood. When they vomited up blood,
the soldiers mocked and cursed at them, and taunted them
with statements like `look what your religion has brought you.'"
Yousef al Shehri, a 21 year-old Saudi detainee held at Guantanamo,
said guards removed a nasal feeding tube from one prisoner and
inserted it into another without cleaning.
Another detainee said that a military doctor put a tube in
his nose, down his throat and "kept moving the tube up and down"
until he finally "started violently throwing up blood."

[Neocons wrote this letter to Clinton in January 1998!]
[The "black babies abortion" man was a signatory.]
January 26, 1998
The Honorable William J. Clinton
President of the United States
Washington, DC
Dear Mr. President:
We are writing you because we are convinced that current
American policy toward Iraq is not succeeding, and that we
may soon face a threat in the Middle East more serious than
any we have known since the end of the Cold War. In your
upcoming State of the Union Address, you have an opportunity
to chart a clear and determined course for meeting this threat.
We urge you to seize that opportunity, and to enunciate a new
strategy that would secure the interests of the U.S. and our
friends and allies around the world. That strategy should
aim, above all, at the removal of Saddam Hussein's regime
from power. We stand ready to offer our full support
in this difficult but necessary endeavor.
The policy of "containment" of Saddam Hussein has been steadily
eroding over the past several months. As recent events have
demonstrated, we can no longer depend on our partners in the
Gulf War coalition to continue to uphold the sanctions or to
punish Saddam when he blocks or evades UN inspections. Our
ability to ensure that Saddam Hussein is not producing weapons
of mass destruction, therefore, has substantially diminished.
Even if full inspections were eventually to resume, which
now seems highly unlikely, experience has shown that it is
difficult if not impossible to monitor Iraq's chemical and
biological weapons production. The lengthy period during
which the inspectors will have been unable to enter many
Iraqi facilities has made it even less likely that they
will be able to uncover all of Saddam's secrets. As a result,
in the not-too-distant future we will be unable to determine
with any reasonable level of confidence whether Iraq does
or does not possess such weapons.
Such uncertainty will, by itself, have a seriously destabilizing
effect on the entire Middle East. It hardly needs to be added
that if Saddam does acquire the capability to deliver weapons
of mass destruction, as he is almost certain to do if we
continue along the present course, the safety of American
troops in the region, of our friends and allies like Israel
and the moderate Arab states, and a significant portion of
the world's supply of oil will all be put at hazard. As you
have rightly declared, Mr. President, the security of the world
in the first part of the 21st century will be determined
largely by how we handle this threat.
Given the magnitude of the threat, the current policy, which
depends for its success upon the steadfastness of our coalition
partners and upon the cooperation of Saddam Hussein, is
dangerously inadequate. The only acceptable strategy is one
that eliminates the possibility that Iraq will be able to use
or threaten to use weapons of mass destruction. In the near term,
this means a willingness to undertake military action as
diplomacy is clearly failing. In the long term, it means
removing Saddam Hussein and his regime from power. That now
needs to become the aim of American foreign policy.
We urge you to articulate this aim, and to turn your
Administration's attention to implementing a strategy
for removing Saddam's regime from power. This will require
a full complement of diplomatic, political and military
efforts. Although we are fully aware of the dangers and
difficulties in implementing this policy, we believe the
dangers of failing to do so are far greater. We believe the
U.S. has the authority under existing UN resolutions to take
the necessary steps, including military steps, to protect
our vital interests in the Gulf. In any case, American policy
cannot continue to be crippled by a misguided insistence on
unanimity in the UN Security Council.
We urge you to act decisively. If you act now to end the
threat of weapons of mass destruction against the U.S. or
its allies, you will be acting in the most fundamental national
security interests of the country. If we accept a course of
weakness and drift, we put our interests and our future at risk.
Sincerely,
Elliott Abrams Richard L. Armitage William J. Bennett

Dr. Rafil Dhafir Gets 22 Years on Fabricated Charges.
U.S. Citizen Railroaded.
They Gave This Absurd Punishment and U.S. Media didn't even Report it!
US jails doctor for Iraq charity fraud
Friday 28 October 2005, 5:21 Makka Time, 2:21 GMT
[Al-Jazeerah]
A New York-based doctor who ran an unregistered charity has been
sentenced to 22 years in prison for cheating donors and illegally
sending some of the money to Iraq in violation of US sanctions.
During brief remarks to the court, Dr Rafil Dhafir on Thursday
said prosecutors used "lies and misrepresentations" to build
a fraud and tax evasion case against him when it could not
link him to terrorism.
"It is my belief that my incarceration was, is and will
always be political," said the Iraqi-born Dhafir, who has
maintained all along that he was innocent and that the
charges against him are politically motivated.
Prosecutors painted Dhafir, an oncologist, as a liar. While
then-US attorney general John Ashcroft had described him as
a terrorist, no terrorism charges were ever filed against him.
The court had barred both sides from mentioning
terrorism during the trial.
Stiff sentence
But the authorities, in pushing for a sentence of between
24 and 30 years, used a federal sentencing provision that
allows for more stringent prison terms if a defendant
is deemed a security risk.
"Dr Dhafir was not prosecuted because of who he is. He was
prosecuted because of what he has done," said Assistant
US Attorney Michael Olmsted. "He lied to donors.
He lied to the government... He lied to banks. He lied to his friends."
Defence lawyer Deveraux Cannick said he will appeal
Dhafir's case, arguing that "the sentence is totally
inconsistent with the conduct alleged".
More than 100 of Dhafir's supporters packed the small 12th-floor
courtroom, many sporting white "Justice for Dhafir" buttons.
The sentencing, originally scheduled for June, was delayed a
half-dozen times as prosecutors and defence lawyers
exchanged legal papers.
Persecution alleged
"We don't see any kind of justice here. This is shocking,"
said Mohamed Khater, president of the
Islamic Society of Central New York.
"The feeling in the Muslim community is that Dr Dhafir has
been singled out because he is Muslim," Khater said, comparing
Dhafir's sentence to those given in recent years to prominent
Wall Street executives convicted of stealing billions of dollars.
Dhafir, 58, was convicted in February of 59 criminal counts,
including money-laundering and conspiracy to violate the
sanctions against Iraq. A jury found him guilty of misusing
$2 million that donors gave to his unlicensed charity,
Help the Needy, and spending $544,000 for his own purposes.
Prosecutors said Dhafir's Syracuse-based charity solicited
more than $5 million over the internet and by mail between
1995 and February 2002, claiming it would help
starving Iraqi orphans and poor children.
The government said it initially was able to trace only about
$160,000 into Iraq. But US Attorney Glenn Suddaby said on
Thursday that the authorities identified more money that made
it to Iraq, although he declined to give an amount.
"It is my belief that my incarceration was, is and will
always be political"
Dr Rafil Dhafir
Suddaby said the investigation is ongoing.
Dhafir had prepared a 46-page statement to read to US District
Judge Norman Mordue, but instead gave an abbreviated 10-minute
rendering because he said "the court's mind has already been set".
Five people, including Dhafir's wife, have pleaded guilty to
charges related to the case. Ayman Jarwan, the charity's former
executive director, is serving an 18-month prison term.
Illustrious doctor
Born in Baghdad, Dhafir has been a US citizen for the past 25
years. In 1993, he set up his charity to help children in Iraq
suffering under sanctions imposed by the US and the UN.
By independent estimates, 5 million Iraqi children
died as a result of the sanctions.
His supporters say Dhafir had been singled out by the
authorities for daring to violate US sanctions, though
the intentions of his charity were noble.
Dhafir was arrested by federal agents in February 2003
and has been held in jail since. He requested bail four
separate times, but his requests were turned down each
time as the judge bought the prosecution
claim that Dhafir could flee.
