One-Eyed Fatwa Issued by Lackeys of Bush: It Distorts the Qur'an, negates the Oneness of Humanity & Undermines the Unity of the Muslim Ummah

1. Does this Fatwa have any foundation in the Qur'an and the authentic Hadith of the Prophet, pbuh.



2. Does this Fatwa have any basis in the Islamic worldview about humanity at large and the Muslim Ummah [worldwide community] in particular?



3. The serious harm it can do to the Muslims of America and an understanding of why the Zionist-controlled media are publicizing it.

1. The Fatwa mongers have quoted a verse of the Qur'an as the foundation of their Fatwa as follows :
   "The Qur'an, Islam's revealed text, states: "Whoever kills a person [unjustly]……it is as though he has killed all mankind. And whoever saves a life, it is as though he had saved all mankind." (Qur''an, 5:32)
   
   First thing to note is that the Fatwa mongers have done serious harm to this verse on three counts:
   1. This verse has NOTHING WHATEVER to do with Jihad or terrorism or even war in general.
   
   
   
   2. The CONTEXT of the verse has been left out otherwise the irrelevance of the claim being made by the Fatwa mongers would have become clear.
   
   
   
   3. KEY WORDS in the verse have been left out which would have destroyed the case being made by the Fatwa group.
   This is the text of the verse:
   
   "On that account We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people. And if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our messengers with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land." [5:32]
   
   As any good Muslim would knows, deliberately leaving words out of the Qur'an to make it fit one's design is a deadly sin which disqualifies anyone from issuing a Fatwa in the name of Islam.
   
   Secondly, the Fatwa mongers left out its context. This verse is about the story of Cain and Abel [though the names are not give in the Qur'an] which begins with 5:27. It is about sibling rivary and jealousy which can lead to killing. Metaphorically killing in person-to-person relationship is being described as killing of all humanity, as is saving one life like saving all humanity.
   
   The Qur'an is telling us that such was the decree for "the Children of Israel." This is not Islamic Law which considers the killing of one person as ONE COUNT OF MURDER only and not the killing of all humanity.
   
   Only people who have no knowledge of Islam would quote this verse related to Jihad, terrorism or war. The Qur'an teaches killing by way of Jihad; hence it is absurd to claim that killing per se is not permitted.
   
   In fact, this verse goes against the segments of the Jews [like the Zionist Jews in our time] about whom it says "many of them continued to commit excesses in the land." As these people who issued the Fatwa are the friends of Israel, they simply OMITTED the clear references to the Jews!
   
   As for retaliation for "murder or for spreading mischief in the land" killing is not only allowed in Islam but is part of Islamic law. Again our "sages" quietly left it out of the verse.



2. I call the Fatwa of these lackeys a "one-eyed" Fatwa because it conveniently leaves out the ONENESS of HUMANITY and the UNITY of the MUSLIM UMMAH [worldwide community] which are absolutely fundamental to Islam. These persons, cowards that they are, do not mention the terrorism which has been DIRECTED AT THE MUSLIM WORLD by Bush and Blair. I find it difficult to believe that the Fatwa mongers are Muslims when they have ignored these facts:
   • The slaughter of 100,000 people in Iraq by the U.S.-British air forces [according to Lancet magazine], plus the slow death of ONE MILLION Iraqis during the sanctions imposed by the U.S.-U.K-Israel through the U.N. [These are UN figures.]
   • The holocaust of tens of thousands of Afghan civilians by the U.S.-British air forces.
   • The genocide of the Palestinian people by Israel with the support of International Jewry.
   • The mass terrorism of the Kashmiri people, including the rape of thousands of women as a weapon of terror, by the Indian army. [Instead we find the Indian Prime Minister being welcomed to the White House by Bush without a peep from these Fatwa mongers.]
   • The genocide of the people of Chechnia by the Russians and the slaughter of ONE THOUSAND unarmed Uzbeks in ONE DAY. [Both regimes are staunch allies of the U.S. in its "war on terror." Terror is a code word they use for Islam.
   While issuing this Fatwa, the lackeys forgot that Muslims can still read the Qur'an and it says: "The believers are but one brotherhood {sisterhood]: so make peace between your brothers: and fear Allah that ye may receive Mercy."
   
   Not only these Fatwa mongers forgot the Qur'an, they ignored all that is sacred in Islam when they kept their mouths shut when AFGHANISTAN was BOMBED DURING RAMADAN and people praying Tarawih were missiled in their mosque. in Iraq, FALLUJAH was WIPED OUT house by house, and mosque by mosque during Ramadan. Even during the nights of Lailatul Qadr, the bombing and killing of Muslims continued at the hands of U.S. air force and marines. There was not a peep out of these cowardly Fatwa mongers. On what basis can they claim to be Muslims?
   
   This Fatwa is racist because it has been issued in response to the attacks in London. Thus if the English are killed, it is a matter of great concern, but if Iraqis, Afghans, Kashmiris, Chechens, Uzbeks, Sudanese, Somalis and Palestinians are killed, no Fatwa is issued. [In fact, I would say that these people would not DARE to issue a Fatwa about the suffering of Muslims if the victimizers are USA-UK-Israel.] This is RACISM and PATRIOTISM of a very narrow kind [which a scholar described as "the last refuge of the scoundrel."]



3. Who are these people who issued the Fatwa? They are basically long time supporters of the U.S. government from subservient organizations like ISNA, ICNA and their offshoots. A few of them should be mentioned by name: Qazwini is a Shi'ite who has a $14 million mosque in Michigan. He is on the record as saying that the U.S. occupation of Iraq is "liberation." He is an enthusiastic visitor to the White House. He claims to be Shia, but he is of the Kufan type, those who invited Imam Husain, r.a., but then betrayed him. Qazwini was silent when U.S. tanks were rampaging through Najaf. Badawi, as we have shown before, blatantly tried to distort the meaning and significance of Jihad in the Qur'an. He is a violator of the Qur'an. Taha Jabir al-Alawani was involved in an earlier notorious "fatwa" by which he and ISNA/CAIR etc tried to justify bloc voting for Bush, only one of the disasters these people have inflicted on the Muslims of America. Zulfiqar is from ICNA and known for his ignorance of Islamic behavior. Some of the signatories may be innocent victims of this clique.
   
   This Fatwa is simply the work of agents of U.S. policies working in 4 letter organizations coming forth in the guise of "Islamic scholars."
   
   This Fatwa could become what the Star of David was allegedly for the Jews under Hitler. These people have managed to put together a list of mosques which they claim support their Fatwa. This would mean that the 2500 mosques which have not signed on to this Fatwa can now be targeted as "not opposing terrorism." This is a way of telling the Zionists which mosques not to hit. These are the "protected" mosques connected to the Fatwa, duly listed, so that pressure can be exerted on the mosques which did not sign up to "do so or else."
   
   These Fatwa mongers have not defined "terrorism" or "extremism," the two key terms thay have used. Thus one who attacks Zionist forces in Israel or Kashmir can be deemed a terrorist by these agents, or one who prays a lot in addition to the obligatory prayers can be called an extremist.
