Sept. 9: Crowds of unarmed Egyptians ransacked the Israeli
embassy in Cairo, forcing the ambassador of the terrorist
entity to flee. The people fought Egyptian security forces
for hours.
President Obama and Hillary Clinton expressed immediate
concern. [No concern for Gaza yet.]
Scroll down to end for report.
[Ed. note: Imagine the existence of an Israeli embassy in a
Muslim country! This atrocity was committed by US agent
Hosni Mubarak who in turn got USA to sentence Shaikh Omar to
life in prison with help of a Zionist judge and Siraj Wahhaj
and an Egyptian intelligence officer.]
The case of the Blind Shaikh and the role of Siraj Wahhaj:
About the New Trend article by Br. Rashid "Face to Face with
Siraj Wahhaj," Sis. Kristi wrote a gentle letter to Kaukab
Siddique and Mauri Saalakhan. It brought a rude and angry
reply from Saalakhan. Now Sis. Kristi has written a rebuttal
of Saalakhan with an appeal to Siraj. Please see both
letters below.
Outreach:
Jamaat al-Muslimeen Literature Given to 100 at Masjid Rahma,
Baltimore
On September 9, JAM literature was given to a crowd of
Pakistani, African American and Arab Muslims who were
leaving Juma' prayers at a mosque in western Baltimore.
The articles distributed included New Trend's answers to
government intelligence agencies who have been questioning
our activities, specially those of Kaukab Siddique.[We are
not connected to any organization outside the US.] Also
included was Pakistani Islamic leader Syed Munawar Hasan's
denunciation of US intervention in Pakistan.
A third article was about 20,000 new converts to Islam in
America including videos of three new Muslimahs.
Imam Badi Ali's thought provoking SPOTLIGHTS were
included.
The final item was a report on Dr. Siddique's khutba to 700
Muslims in Greensboro, North Carolina in which he explained
mass culture, Islamic equality and the rights of Muslim
women.
An invitation to think:
Spotlights by Imam Badi Ali, National Shoora, JAM, North
Carolina
Spotlight #1: Messengers were chosen by Allah to be examples
of the best conduct. Unfortunately others have confused
humanity by claiming that these men of God committed
adultery, murder and even incest. And these stories have
been included in holy books!
Spotlight # 2: Islamic movements have come up with
misleading solutions which are a mixture of secularism,
nationalism and Islam. They have failed to be better than
the existing forces in power. In the future, we can hope
that Islamic movements will come out with real alternatives
based on the example of the Prophet, pbuh.
Spotlight #3: Deep down America is in serious economic
trouble. The era of full time jobs is just about over.
Caspitalism is now carrying out new moves such as contract
workers and part time jobs. Ordinary Americans have no more
stability in their lives.
Spotlight # 4: Minority rule has emerged in America through
the dictatorship of the media. Suddenly there is huge
September 11 coverage as if it just happened and not 10
years back. Why this huge move away from the issues facing
Americans?
Spotlight #5: Only the insane can equate friend and enemy,
as if they are the same.
Spotlight #6: The real terrorists in America are the bankers
who are contributing to home foreclosures and destroying the
American way of life. Good people pay for decades for their
homes and then suddenly lose them as the bankers move
in.
Thoughts on 9.11 ten years later: by Kaukab Siddique
What does Islam say about Annual Mourning?
US Muslims were not involved in 9.11. Why the collective
guilt?
It is understandable that America is mourning the events of
September 11, 2001. It was a terrible blow struck at the
only superpower in the world. Nationalism and patriotism
find such a tragedy a mobilizing force for popular unity and
denial of the dire situation within the United States. A
foreign threat helps the government in its attempts to
ignore issues like jobs, crime, drugs, rape and
victimization of women, Israel's cut throat activities,
control of the media, the obscene wealth of the few and the
sordid poverty of millions.
What is not understandable is the support for the 9.11
mourning coming from groups which claim to be Islamic such
as CAIR, ICNA, ISNA and sundry individuals like Abdul Malik
Mujahid [who calls himself CIOGC].
What does Islam say in this matter?
-
Islam does not permit annual mourning for anyone. Not even
for great Muslims like Imam Hussain.
 -
Even in the case of the death of someone very close to
oneself, like a spouse, Islam sets a time limit: Four months
and 10 days:

"If any of you die and leave widows behind, they shall wait
concerning themselves four months and ten days: When they
have fulfilled their term, there is no blame on you if they
dispose of themselves in a just and reasonable manner. And
Allah is well acquainted with what ye do." [The Qur'an
2:234]
Thus marriage and celebration connected with marriage is
permitted after the death of a dearly beloved spouse. The
wife is not encouraged to keep mourning her husband, however
beloved, every year.
Along the same lines, Muslims do not mourn the Prophet,
pbuh, every year although no one is dearer to them than him.
Here is the way Abu Bakr, r.a., the closest companion of the
Prophet, pbuh, responded to his death:
'Abu Bakr said, " whoever amongst you worshipped Muhammad,
then Muhammad is dead, but whoever worshipped Allah, Allah
is alive and will never die. Allah said: 'Muhammad is no
more than a messenger and indeed (many) messengers have
passed away before him ... Nor can a being die except by
Allah's leave, the term being fixed as by writing. If any do
desire a reward in this life, We shall give it to him; and
if any do desire a reward in the Hereafter, We shall give it
to him. And swiftly shall We reward those that (serve us
with) gratitude..' " (3.144-145) [Sahih Bukhari: Vol. 2,
#333]
Activity and memorials based on nationalism have absoutely
no place in Islam. Islam recognizes character, integrity,
honesty, courage, fear of Allah, but not nationalism. If
America's dead are to be memorialized but those killed by
America in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Palestine [through
Israel], Libya [through NATO], Yemen, Somalia, Nigeria
[through US backed army] are to be ignored, that is sheer
nationalism, a modern form of tribalism.
Can Muslims be Muslims when they violate the clear teachings
of the blessed Muhammad, pbuh, about such memorials which
shut out the entire world of Islam and focus only on
America?
Here is what the Prophet Muhammad, pbuh, has taught about
nationialistic and tribalistic activities such as those we
see being carried out full blast on the 10th anniversary of
the 9.11 attacks:
"The messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be on
him, said: One who invites to nationalism/tribalism is not
one of us [a believer.] One who fights on the basis of
nationalism/tribalism is not one of us [a believer]. And one
who dies while he is in a condition of nationalism/tribalism
is not one of us [a believer]." [Hadith in Sunan of Abu
Dawood, narrated by Jubir ibn Muti'im]
It is understandable that the families of the 9.11 victims
are sorrowful, but should we keep those wounds open by
national mourning? The US has wiped out entire city centers
in Iraq. Remember Haditha, Tal Afar, Mosul, Fallujah, many
areas of Baghdad... villages in Afghanistan, the mud huts
of the poor and the downtrodden, tens oif thousands killed
often in their mosques during prayers? Should we be building
monuments for them? .... Several thousand have been killed
in Pakistani villages by US drones. Unarmed people listed by
the US as "suspected Taliban" have been bombed into
extinction. No evidence, no trial, execution without
warning.
Surely the US has the right to mourn those killed in the
9.11 attacks. After all this is a secular country and these
are the rites of secularism. Were those killed in the Twin
Towards worshippers of God, involved in pious acts of
spiritual exploration or were they working for capitalism,
Israel, and the American power structure?
Of them, 658, many of them Jewish/Israelis, were working for
Cantor Fitzgerald which is part of the American industrial
military complex allied to Israel. Of course they will be
mourned by the military superpower which they nourished but
is it acceptable for Muslims, like ICNA etc claim to be, to
praise them as innocents? Here is what the messenger of
Allah says:
"The messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be on
him, said: When a wrong doer is praised, it arouses the
Wrath of Allah and even the heavens tremble." [Hadith
collected by various scholars in Mishkat al-Masabih,
narrated by Unus, r.a.]
Lest we Forget the "other' 9.11
From Ilm Publications to New Trend.
On September 11, 1973 a CIA-led coup replaced the popular
government of Chile
The populist slogan 'El pueblo unido, jamas sera venicido'
('A united people will never be defeated' was never enfoced
by the social-democrat government that refused to listen to
the wise words, shouted in the streets by thousands: 'El
pueblo armada jamas sera venicido', 'An armed people will
never be defeated'. The arms stayed in the hands of the
servants of the bourgoisie, at the expense of the ordinary
people.
Thousands were imprisoned, tortured, murdered.
Babies were taken away from their parents.

Lessons of Nine Eleven
Mark Weber
http://www.ihr.org/other/nineeleven2011.html
"In fact, it's clear that the men who carried out the Nine
Eleven suicide attacks against centers of American financial
and military might were motivated, at least in large
measure, by rage over U.S. air strikes and economic warfare
against Muslim and Arab countries, and by anger over
decades-long U.S. support for Israel and its policies of
aggression and brutal occupation against Arabs and Muslims."
... The perpetrators of the Nine Eleven attacks meant to
harm the United States. But the response to those attacks by
President George W. Bush and other American political
leaders has proven to be even more harmful. The U.S.
response has weakened this country's security, undermined
its economy, degraded its standing and credibility, and
violated the principles it claims to uphold ... The calamity
of September 11 was a consequence, above all, of the
Jewish-Zionist grip on American political life and the U.S.
media. Enduring security will therefore remain elusive as
long as U.S. policy, especially in the Middle East, is set
by a small but very influential minority with its own agenda
and strong ethno-religious ties to a key protagonist in the
region.

Troy Davis Faces Execution: [Islam is against the death
penalty in a secular state.]
[The following appeal issued by the NAACP has been received
from Dr. Abdulalim Shabazz
[

, a top Islamic and African
American intellectual and celebrated mathematician -
editor]
We've just received terrible news: The state of Georgia has
set Troy Davis's execution date for midnight on September
21st, just two weeks from today.
This is our justice system at its very worst, and we are
alive to witness it. There is just too much doubt. Even
though seven out of nine witnesses have recanted their
statements, a judge labeled his own ruling as "not ironclad"
and the original prosecutor has voiced reservations about
Davis's guilt, the state of Georgia is set to execute Troy
anyway.
Time is running out, and this is truly Troy's last chance
for life. But through the frustration and the tears, there is
one thing to remain focused on: We are now Troy Davis's only
hope. And I know we won't let him down.
There are three steps you can take to help Troy:
-
Send a message of support to Troy as he fights for
justice on what may be the final days of his life:
http://action.naacp.org/LettersOfSupport

-
Sign the name wall, if you haven't already. And if you
have, send it to your friends and family. Each name means a
more united front for justice:
http://action.naacp.org/Name-Wall

-
Make sure everyone knows about this injustice. Spread the
word on Facebook and Twitter (using the hashtag
#TooMuchDoubt) so that Troy Davis's story can be heard. We
still have a chance to save his life, but only if people are
willing to speak out against injustice.

Today, the state of Georgia has declared their intention to
execute a man even though the majority of the people who put
him on the row now say he is innocent and many implicate one
of the other witnesses as the actual killer. Now that a date
has been set, we cannot relent. We must redouble our
efforts.
Thank you. Please act quickly and forward this message to
all who believe the justice system defeats itself when it
allows a man to be executed amid so much doubt.

Come out and witness Scott D. Shellenberger's racist attempt
to legally lynch Duane "Shorty" Davis over an alleged
"toilet bomb", that anyone with a grain of sense can see was
no bomb.
Shorty has placed his toilet art around the area and has
even sold or has given toilets to several government
officials and some were auctioned off for charity. Shorty
has been targetted by Martin OMalley and other racist
officials for his outspoken criticism of their policies.
It's time to rid Maryland of Nazi State's Attorneys like
Shellenberger and his counterpart in the City Gregg
Bernstein by taking them before the Grand Jury in their
respective jurisdictions.
STOP THE LEGAL LYNCHING OF DUANE "SHORTY" DAVIS! Come out

Please forgive my delayed response. Your email was in my
"Spam" box and I rarely view my Spam folder. My
response is in RED below.
Peace,
Kristi
Dear Sister, Assalaamu Alaikum:
While I appreciate your sensitivity and concern for two
professed Muslims having these sometimes angry (esp. on
Kaukab's part) exchanges over the internet, the tone of your
response ignores both the gravity and long term potential
consequence of what's being addressed.
" First of all...my "tone" cannot be discerned through my
writings. The spirit in which one reads a piece of writing
is actually what discerns a writers "tone" and meaning. And
unfortunately, if you have discerned a lack of understanding
and concern in my email about the level of impact this topic
has on the Muslim community then you are obviously not
reading the emails in a spirit that's able to discern truth
because I certainly do not believe this matter is a minor
one. As Br. Kaukab stated, there is a man in prison for
LIFE in part because of Siraj Wahhaj's testimony....that is
certainly no minor issue, nor is the issue of unjustified
scarcasm or public criticism of a Muslim."
This is not mere "bickering" - I don't have time for that!
" I understand your desire to declassify the matter out of
the realm of "bickering", but your back and forth 'he said,
she said' certainly looks like bickering to readers who may
not be extremely familiar with the detailed topic that
you're addressing. As you may need to be reminded, one
reason many people 'subscribe' to certain papers, magazines,
newsletters, etc. is to get a summary of FACTS about certain
topics since they do not have time to personally research
each and every vital issue going on in this vast world of
ours. Knowing this little fact is what led me to merely
suggest that you two "brothers" start acting like brothers
(and trust-worthy sources of truth) and meet face-to-face
and work this out, THEN report to us the TRUTH and FACTS
about the matter. (This is an easily understood and
reasonable suggestion. And since you both portray yourselves
as concerned, surely it would be a worthy investment of your
time)."
This so-called "brother" of ours is engaging in malicious
and unwarranted slander against a respected leader in the
Muslim-American community; and because Kaukab has once again
made his attack so vile and public, our community's interest
demands that his attack be responded to.
" Public "slander" is certainly unjust and punishable by
Allah; however, public rebuke and exposure is commanded and
rewarded. It's obvious to me that Br. Kaukab (as do many
other Muslims) believe that Siraj Wahhaj has committed a
great wrong against a Muslim and has refused to admit any
wrong-doing. If this is true, then Br. Kaukab is doing his
job by exposing a scoundrel and may Allah reward him greatly
for it. Obviously Br. Kaukab, and the many who question
Siraj Wahhaj, believe this wrong or so-called wrong
(whichever the case may be) needs to be explained and
understood OR condemned, publicly rebuked, and exposed
(which is a very just expectation to reasonable people). And
since Siraj Wahhaj has been unwililng to explain his actions
as righteous, then of course public exposure and rebuke is
in order. If Br. Rashid and Br. Kaukab are wrong about
Siraj Wahhaj, wouldn't the simple solution be for Siraj
Wahhaj to take a few minutes and address the issue so that
others can understand exactly why he testified to what he
did? This is certainly not too much to ask, and may Allah
reward those who have had the courage to seek answers and
clarity to their questions.... I wonder why the questions
are not answered?
You say Siraj Wahhaj is a "respected leader" in the
Muslim-American community..... there is a HUGE difference in
respected and respectful. As you are surely aware,
some of the most horrible, evil, and sinful men that have
ever walked the planet are often seen as the most
"respected" in the eyes of the masses, so to say Siraj
Wahhaj is "respected" in the Muslim community (the very
community you yourself know as being extremely weak and
easily deceived) proves NOTHING good about his character.
To see the masses respect a man with a following, a
fan-club, and the ability to raise funds, does not confirm
his worthiness and respectfulness in the eyes of The
Almighty. True believers know a respected man of
God will demonstrate the characteristics that true believers
possess (it is in this way we can weed out the deceivers
from the worshippers). Has Siraj Wahhaj demonstrated
God-honoring characteristics in this matter? I surely
believe that one of the characteristics that a true believer
would possess is the desire to explain himself to
fellow-Muslims who care enough about an issue to question
him about it. You mentioned above the "long-term
potential consequences" this public exchange could have on
the community......well, what about the long-term
consequences the confusion surrounding this issue is having
on the community? Why doesn't Siraj Wahhaj care about that?
Why hasn't he addressed the initial questions and source of
bitterness? Why not simply have Siraj Wahhaj explain
himself to the muslims who believe he lied in court? Why
prolong the bitterness, hostility, and questioning? The
ones who question him obviously believe he stumbled upon a
rock placed in front of him by the enemy, and instead of
standing-up and admitting his wrong and apologizing, he has
enjoyed the lime-light and the enemy-associated praise he's
received, and has avoided providing an Islamic explanation
to the many Muslims who have questioned him. If he has
not done any wrong, why would he not simply take the little
time it would take to clear-up the confusion? (If Siraj
Wahhaj has previously explained his actions and why he
testified to what he did, please provide us with the link
which allows us to access that explanation, because these
questioners have legitimate questions that should be
answered.)
In fact, it would be nice to know if Br. Kaukab has ever
requested an interview with Siraj Wihhaj. Br. Kaukab has
interviewed many, many great Islamic leaders, much greater
and more well-known than Siraj Wahhaj, so surely Siraj
Wahhaj could find time in his busy schedule to to provide
answers to the many Muslims who question him (like a truly
"respectful" leader would do....you know, to avoid the
long-term negative consequences to the community that his
avoiding the issue has caused).
Kristi
With that said, should you wish for me to remove your
address from our listserve (so that you don't have to be
bothered by these exchanges), I will be happy to do so.
MS
Dear Kaukab and Br. Saalakhan,
I say this because I care for you....PLEASE STOP this
bickering back and forth. Aren't you both suppose to be
God-fearing muslims who distribute truth and 'news' instead
of publicly hurting each other? Your readers need to be
able to depend on you for truth, maturity, and facts.....NOT
confusion. This type of back and forth sarcasm will cause
you to lose your credibility very quickly. If people wanted
to see back and forth criticism and arguing they could tune
into a secular television reality show.
I understand the passion behind the issue. There are major
facts in question that would (and should) determine how we
view Siraj Wahhaj, but if you "brothers" who are fighting
back and forth over the internet don't care enough about
each other to meet in a personal, face-to-face setting in
order to fact-find and seek truth and resolve so you can
make a joint 'report of truth' to us, then I'm not sure you
deserve our readership...and I'm certainly not sure you
should refer to each other as "brothers"....as we say here
in America....'with friends like that, who needs enemies?"

Settle your differences like grown-ups who fear Allah.
Your sister who cares for you.

Africa:
Conversions to Islam in ONE TOWN in Uganda in one month.
{ALL the major churches in Europe and America are trying to
infiltrate Africa with big money but Islam is still
winning...Ed}
Special Ramadan: Newly Converted
By Draga Osman
During the month of Ramadan Arua Municipality in the West
Nile region of Uganda is making a significant gain in
converting people from other religions who are
embracing.
A total of 135 people have converted into Islam since the
beginning of the month of the Ramadan and a big number is
expected during the Idi-el-Fitir celebration. The converts
admitted that observing Ramadan as Muslims is now
transforming their lives.
The Ramadan of 2011 has the greatest number of converts in
Arua, compared to previous years. Sheik Juma Bakit the
director for West Nile Dawa attributes the enormous number
of converts into Islam as a result of the Christian/Muslim
apologetic dialogue.
"This massive conversion is a result of our open dialogue
with our Christian brothers where these people found truth
in our opening preaching," he observed. He added that, it is
also the kindness and brotherhood shown? to them. In past
years people used to consider Islam as irrational and they
would fear to openly discuss issues but this time it is not
the case.
The converts are now assembled in Yahya Islamic Convert
Centre 5kms outside Arua in Oluko Sub County. They are being
taught at this centre to know about Islam and how to
interact with Muslims, especially during religious
observances such as Ramadan and how to read the Koran.
Those who converted last year are now under going an Imam
Leadership course where they will be dispersed out to
preach. The centre director, sheik Noordin Amin Fatak a
former Madina University graduate in Saudi Arabia, said the
centre was established in 2000 for new Muslims. Since its
inception it has brought in 1,307 converts during the months
of fasting. "This year's Ramadan has received an
overwhelming number of converts," he announced.
Among the new converts is a 51 year old Harold Okwokotho,
now Haruna Okwokoth in Islam. In an interview, he says
fasting from food and water for 12 hours, sun up to sun down
is a challenge for the first time but it is changing his
life. The first day of Ramadan had been quite difficult
because he was bored and felt tired and had got a stomach
problem because he was not used to eating food in the late
hours of the night, but hopes it gets easier in the
remaining days.
Haruna was brought up as a Catholic, and was choirmaster in
the Anglican Church and says after converting into Islam two
weeks ago in the month of Ramadan it has changed him both
internally and externally. He looks forward to experiencing
the month of Ramadan and how it would further change
him.
"Ramadan increased spiritual purity and closeness to Allah
because during this month Muslims are required to abstain
from food, drink, smoking and sexual relations from sunrise
to sunset and it controls yourself to be conscious of any
negative actions," he sermonizes.
He noted that his first appearance in Islam during this
month of Ramadan has changed his life and that observing
Ramadan has also changed his internal core by giving him
inner peace.
Now after realizing the spiritual importance of observing
the fast, Haruna says after finishing learning from the
Convert Centre he will go out and convert more people. He
will also encourage non-Muslims to observe fasting if they
are children of Adam. He needs to complete the Koran and
teachings in Islam before he will go and convert more people
in his villages.
"They are actual ready and the entire village is going to
become Muslim", he assures.
Another convert Odong Anthony 49, who converted to Islam
from Catholicism because of the Muslims whom he says are
following the real things in Bible.
"I have found out that Islam is teaching the facts and
following the Bible unlike Catholics", he says.
"Imagine the Bible tells us not to eat swine, it is
unlawful. But Christians are eating it and Muslims have
restrained themselves from eating and are observing what is
stated in the Bible."
Anthony, now Adam Bashir further explained thathe converted
to Islam because he was not getting satisfactory faith in
Catholicism and remained confused on the trinity view.
While Sentalu Geoffrey, now Abubakar Sentalu, 32, another
convert interviewed, said it is the open dialogue between
the Christians since the beginning of the Ramadan that made
him to cross into Islam from the Anglican Church
Meanwhile, a different reason drove Odong Boniface 20 who is
now Ishmael, to join Islam in this month of Ramadan.
According to him he got convinced by a Muslim girl whom he
wanted to love but she told him to first get converted into
Islam.
"She is beautiful I love her and the only thing is to cross
to Islam," he said.
He said another thing that embraces him most and convinced
him to join Islam is the girls whom he says are beautiful
and smart looking in their Islamic attire.
The Centre funded by Saudi Arabia was established in 2000
and since its inception over 1500 people have converted into
Islam. The Northern region Administrator for Dawa Sheik Isa
kato said the center was established to caterto the new
Muslims from the Christians families.
"You know before the establishment of this center converts
used to be harassed by their Christian relatives for
converting into Islam so we created this center to keep them
away from their families to avoid trauma," said the
administrator.
Sheik Juma Bahkit said converting into Islam has now become
normal in Christians so they no longer harass their family
members who convert to Islam.
With about 80% of the total population in this town being
Muslim and with eighteen Mosques within the town, one could
easily get convinced that the town is another house for
Islam, just like Mecca in Saudi Arabia. Here Muslims are
predominately Sunni Sheik Isa Kato however appealed to the
wealthy Muslins in the town to spend their money in
supporting such centers because they will receive profuse
reward from the Allah at the end. He also calls for unity in
supporting developmental activities like this, which he says
will create employment opportunities for Muslim youth in the
district.

Does Islam Allow Muslim Men To Marry Non-Muslim Women in
America?
Q. I have been told that Muslim women are not allowed to
marry non-Muslim men but Muslim men are permitted to marry
non-Muslim women. What does Islam say? [Name withheld.]
Answer by Dr. Kaukab Siddique:
Islam teaches that marriage is half the faith. Marriage is
one of the most powerful means for the spread of Islam. It
turns hostile communities into friends. The Qur'an used it
to break up the well-established system of slavery in
pre-Islamic Arabia and then in the rest of the Islamic
commonwealth.
Islam does not permit a Muslim, male or female, to marry a
non-Muslim, especially in countries like the U.S., China and
India where Muslims are minorities.
In a fully developed Islamic state, where Islam is dominant,
Muslim men are sometimes allowed to marry non-Muslim women
who are chaste and follow the original teachings of Moses
and Jesus, pbuh.
In America, people coming in from Arab countries have
propagated the view that Muslim men are allowed to marry
non-Muslim women. Not only is this an incorrect view it has
seriously damaged the Islamic cause in America.
This country has become more pagan than Christian and a
non-Muslim woman who comes into a Muslim home is backed by
the entire power of the secular State system and the
children of such a marriage are educated by a secular
education system. Other than in very exceptional cases, such
a marriage is very damaging.
Tens of thousands of American and African-American women
have embraced Islam during the last two decades. These men
who are marrying non-Muslim women are denying marriage to
those women who have embraced Islam. Racism and nationalism
are often involved in the Muslim male's decision to marry
non-Muslim women.
Why have U.S. Muslims been so misled? It has to do with
inability to study the Qur'an in CONTEXT and the desire to
study the Qur'an WITHOUT the help of the Hadith of the
Prophet, pbuh. If we were to know HOW to study Islam, such
questions would not arise.
The Qur'an makes it very clear that marriage is to be based
only on FAITH in ALLAH and that one of its purposes is to
UNDERMINE SLAVERY. Marriage based on CLASS STRUCTURE and
NATIONALISM is a clear violation of Islam. Here is what the
Qur'an says:
"Do not marry women who associate others with Allah
[mushrikat] until they believe. A slave woman who believes
is better than one who associates others with Allah
[mushrika] even though she allures you. Nor marry men who
associate others with Allah [mushrikeen] until they believe:
A male slave who believes is better than one who associates
others with Allah [mushrik] even though he allures you. They
[associaters] beckon you to the Fire but Allah beckons by
His Grace to the Garden [of Bliss] and forgiveness, and
makes His Signs clear to mankind that they may receive
admonition." [2:221]
Notice that I have written the Arabic word in brackets. It
is often incorrectly translated as "disbelievers" and
"idolaters" although mushrik is one who associates others
with Allah.
All interpretations must end when there is a clear Hadith of
the Prophet, pbuh, on the issue. He never recommended
marriage with non-Muslim women. Addressing men, he makes it
quite clear that Islamic integrity and faith is the
requirement for marriage:
"The messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be on
him, said: Women are married for 4 reasons: for wealth, for
family nobility, for beauty and for Deen: You should marry
for Deen, otherwise may your hands be rubbed in the dirt."
[Narrated by Abu Huraira, r.a., in the Sahih of Bukhari and
the Sahih of Muslim.]
Deen is a comprehensive term for piety, knowledge and
practice of Islam, and Fear of Allah.
Our Arab brothers try to take advantage of a permission
granted in chapter 5 of the Qur'an to marry women from the
People of the Book: These brothers [conveniently?] ignore
the fact that the verse they are using was revealed after
the victory of Islam when Islam had become the dominant
force in Madinah:
" ... [lawful unto you in marriage] are not only chaste
women who are believers but chaste women among the People of
the Book revealed before your time ...." [5:5]
This is a legal "permission" within a context of Islamic
dominance. The Prophet, pbuh, does not recommend it. What is
legal is not necessarily the best course.
And Allah knows best.
[In Pakistan, the US-backed regime has been kidnaping
opponents. They simply disappear, no one knows where. These
atrocities are highlighted here by the wife of one of the

Eid and International Day of Missing Persons
by Amina Masood Janjua [Rawalpindi Cantonment]
Chairperson, and team of
Defence of Human Rights Pakistan
Year 2011 has turned into a doubly sorrowful symbol for the
families of Missing persons of Pakistan as International day
of the victims of enforced disappearance and Eid fall on
consecutive days. This year has an another significance
because from today United Nations has also officially marked
it as the International day of the victims of enforced
disappearance.
For some of us it is the first Eid without one of our family
member, for some it is fifth and for some of us it is tenth.
But we are not talking about deceased family members whom
one bury with their hands instead these are the missing
loved ones subjected to enforced disappearance.
Here one must remember that "Enforced Disappearance" is a
legal term of international law coined by United Nation's
legal instruments. It denotes a disappeared or missing
person who has been kidnapped and detained illegally by
state run institutions, placing them outside the protection
of law; the very institutions which are created and
constituted to prevent citizens from all atrocities
including kidnapping. It is like being robbed by your own
watchman.
There are abundant and over whelming evidences, affidavits
and eye witnesses which have already confirmed the presence
of loved ones in the custody of local agencies, many of whom
have been handed over to foreign agencies.
The irony of the situation is that ex president Gen Perwaiz
Musharraf and ex minister of interior Aftab Ahmed Khan
Sherpao have authenticated, with a criminal pride, in their
books and media statements that they have been "enforce
disappearing" Pakistani citizens
in exchange for American dollars. Even more distressing is
the fact that the crime of enforced disappearance has
accelerated in the present democratic government.
We assert that if Gillani government denies this fact than
it means that they have no control on agencies who are still
in pursuit of American money.
The perpetrators of this crime not only kidnap people but
harass their families so much that most of them don't dare
to launch a complaint.
More than 1200 families have contacted and registered their
cases with Defence of Human Rights. Due to different hurdles
and lack of enough funds Defence of Human Rights is
representing only 322 cases in Supreme Court. Punjab stands
at number one with 174 cases whereas KPK , Balochistan,
Sindh, Azad Jammu Kashmir, Islamabad Capital Territory
follow with 96, 19, 25, 7, 11 cases respectively.
In a Statement by the United Nations Working Group on
Enforced or involuntary Disappearances to mark the first UN
International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances
it asserts, "Unfortunately, enforced disappearances continue
to be used by some States as a tool to deal with situations
of conflict or internal unrest. We have also witnessed the
use of the so-called 'short term disappearances,' where
victims are placed in secret detention or unknown locations,
outside the protection of the law, before being released
weeks or months later, sometimes after having been tortured
and without having been brought in front of a judge or other
civil authority.
This very worrisome practice, whether it is used to counter
terrorism, to fight organized crime or suppress legitimate
civil strife demanding democracy, freedom of expression or
religion, should be considered as an enforced disappearance
and as such adequately investigated, prosecuted and
punished."
On this day Defence of Human Rights Pakistan wants to draw
your
attention to the thousands of Pakistani families which are
aggrieved
for years whose loved ones, brothers, fathers, husbands,
sons,
daughters and even children are abducted by local and
foreign
intelligence agencies.
Our contentions as the voice for the Missing Person's
families are
that in all laws of the world keeping anybody "Missing" is
Illegal.
United Nations' convention has declared it as "crime
against
humanity". According to the same convention, families of the
missing persons have been established as equal victims of
Enforced Disappeared. This reality makes the total victims
of enforced disappearance in Pakistan ten times more than
registered number.
When a loved one is kept in secret confinement without any
knowledge and contact to the family for years, it is the
worst torture on Earth.
Defence of Human Rights enjoys a unique status in the fight
against Enforced Disappearance as this is an organization
which has been created and is being run by the victim
families of this heinous crime.
We have been making efforts and struggling day and night for
years to trace our loved ones. The sufferings and agonies
involved in illegal abductions are enormous and must be
dealt on priority.
Defence of Human Rights is lucky in this regard that our
cause is
being supported by all factions of the society. But the one
who is
unmoved is the Government of Pakistan. The need of the hour
is to
intensify the pressure on the Government of Pakistan
demanding
immediate release of loved ones and to put an end to
Enforced
Disappearance forever and to ratify "International
Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced
Disappearance" passed by UN.
Eighty eight countries with clean conscience have already
signed it.
We also demand to stop all sorts of brutal, inhumane
treatments and tortures going on in jails and secret
detentions.
We want to convey the desperation and grief of the families
who are waiting every second for any information regarding
their missing relatives and for their release. The gravity
and alarming nature of the issue and the threat it poses to
the advancing world because of the rapid growth in number of
people Enforced disappeared, demands for immediate
action.
We plead to the parliamentarians of all political parties to
raise
this issue in Parliament and take measures to ratify United
Nation's
"International Convention for the Protection of All Persons
from
Enforced Disappearance" and legislate proper laws to end
this shameful practice from Pakistan. We also demand that
Enforced Disappeared persons and their families should be
rehabilitated, compensated and should be given all the
medical and psychological treatment required, by the
government.
It is apt on this occaison to thank the civil society,
lawyer's
community, political parties, groups of civil society,
students etc
for sharing our grief and taking part in our struggle. We
also thank
international human right's associations like Cageprisoners
of UK,
Amnesty International, Pakistan USA freedom forum,
International
action centre, Human rights watch etc for the extraordinary
support
extended by them.

Crowds attack Israel embassy in Cairo : September 9-10, 2011
Hundreds hurt as protesters and security forces clash and
interior ministry declares state of alert in Egyptian
capital.
A building housing Israel's embassy in Cairo has been
stormed by protesters who tore down one of the outer embassy
walls and threw thousands of documents from the embassy's
windows.
The angry also replaced the neighbouring country's flag with
their own after breaking in on Friday night.
In response, Essam Sharaf, the Egyptian prime minister,
summoned a cabinet crisis team to discuss the situation, and
the interior ministry declared a state of alert.
Hundreds of Egyptian soldiers backed by armoured cars were
rushed to the embassy district and clashed with the
protesters who torched police trucks and attacked regional
police headquarters nearby.
Protesters played cat-and-mouse with police throughout the
night, amid clouds of tear gas and smoke from burning tyres.
Security forces gradually gained the upper hand and the
situation was calm by Saturday morning.
Just past 3am local time, the Egyptian health ministry said
there had officially been 520 injuries as a result of
clashes around the embassy. An earlier report said one
person had died of a heart attack.
The group that swarmed the embassy had left a mass rally at
nearby Tahrir Square, where organised protesters called for
reforms by the military, which now governs Egypt.
"Thousands of documents were being thrown out of the
windows, but it's unclear which floor they were coming
from," our correspondent Sherine Tadros said.
Chaotic scenes
"Indications are that it's pretty much a chaotic situation.
Protesters set on fire two police vehicles."
Nora Shalaby, a protester outside Israel's embassy,
justified the protesters' actions.
"I think this is the only way we can get our point across.
Here we still have lots of tear gas. There's rubber bullets.
They're basically attacking us from all sides," she said,
referring to government security forces.
A few hours later, our correspondent said that the Egyptian
military had stepped in to work with police to quell
protests.
"The military is actually starting to fire live ammunition
into the air. Once again, protesters are trying to storm the
[Egyptian] security headquarters.
"As far as we understand these protesters are unarmed,
they've been there for hours," Sherine Tadros said.
State television quoted an interior ministry official as
saying that "foreign hands" were behind the violence.
Egypt's rulers often blame foreigners for unrest in the
country.
Flight of Israeli envoy
Israel's ambassador, Yitzhak Levanon, his family and other
embassy staff rushed to Cairo airport and left on a plane
for Israel, Egyptian state television and airport officials
said.
The state television also reported that Levanon met with a
general of the ruling military's Supreme Council of the
Armed Forces before his departure, and that the ambassador
appeared "anxious and even scared".
Levanon had only recently returned to Cairo from a holiday
in Israel as protests raged outside the embassy since last
month.
US President Barack Obama was first to react, calling on
Egypt to protect the embassy and "to honour its
international obligations to safeguard the security of the
Israeli Embassy."
A White House statement said that "the President expressed
his great concern about the situation at the embassy, and
the security of the Israelis serving there".
The statement said that Obama spoke by telephone to Benjamin
Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, and the two agreed
"to stay in close touch until the situation is
resolved".
Hillary Clinton, the US secretary of state, also called
Mohamed Kamel Amr, Egypt's foreign minister, to urge Egypt
to meet its Vienna Convention obligations to protect
diplomatic property, a senior state department official
said.
Embassy wall damaged
The incident began with around 1,000 people attacking a wall
recently built outside the Israeli embassy in Cairo to
protect the building.
Using hammers and a large metal bar, the protesters managed
to partially destroyed the wall, about two metres high.
One protester clambered up the embassy building and removed
the flag, throwing it down to the rapturous crowd below.
Last month, Egyptians staged huge protests outside the
embassy and called for the expulsion of the Israeli
ambassador over the border deaths of Egyptian policemen
killed as Israel hunted a group of attackers.
Egypt has asked Israel for an official apology and demanded
a probe into the deaths of the five policemen.
