To the agencies of the government of the USA.

Our Response to prolonged, Ongoing and Intense, though polite, investigation of New Trend by the US Government.
Government agencies have been taking a very critical view of New Trend and its editor Kaukab Siddique as well as the organization known as Jamaat al-Muslimeen. Propaganda by Zionists and other anti-Islam groups may well be contributing to a misleading image of our work. Hence we offer the following clarification in addition to our disclaimer [above]:
  1. Kaukab Siddique, New Trend and Jamaat al-Muslimeen are NOT connected in any way, direct or indirect, to al-Qaida or the Taliban.
  2. We are not connected to any organization in the US list of terrorist organizations.
  3. We are not connected to any organization outside the United States.
  4. We do not raise funds for al-Qaida, the Taliban, Hamas or any organization on the US list of terrorist organizations. We are not fund raisers for anyone.
  5. We look critically at the cases of Muslims convicted by US courts because we think many of these cases involve injustice, entrapment and the misuse of power by the US. Also, we look critically at the treatment of inmates in the prison system. Often this treatment is inhumane.
  6. Criticism of the justice system does not mean that we are linked ideologically or organizationally to any of the prisoners.
  7. We are against the military occupation of Muslim countries as well as cultural imperialism against these countries. All these nations have the right to defend themselves. Their resistance to occupation should be honestly reported and Islamically analyzed.
  8. We are against Israel because it has occupied Palestine.
  9. The teachings of Islam give us the motivation to object strongly to government policies. We do this without incitement to violence and without recruitment for any group in the US terrorist list. Our right to oppose government policies is protected by the US Constitution
  10. We know that ours is the ONLY Islamic voice on a national level against US policies from within the ranks of US Muslims. Our independence and ability to speak Islamic truth to power may one day lead to communication and peace with the world of Islam. We are sure that open ended war between Islam and the West is not something which any well wisher of America would advocate. We hope that Zionist incitement to war will be defeated and that Islam and the West will be able to be friends.
  11. Remember that Islam in the Soviet Union was driven underground by state repression. It re-emerged through the use of samizdat and hand written messages with words from the Qur'an and hadith. We pray that the US will not try to follow the Soviet model.
  12. Finally, if we discuss, analyze or explain any group anywhere in a positive light, that does not mean that we are connected to that group.

Dr. Kaukab Siddique led prayers and gave Eid Khutba in Greensboro, North Carolina.

More than 700 people were present, mostly from Arab and African countries, notably Iraq, Egypt, Palestine, Jordan, Yemen, Algeria, Somalia, Sudan and Niger. There were also a few Pakistanis and African Americans.

The community in Greensboro has emerged as a prosperous and peaceful community owing to the creative efforts of Imam Badi Ali and a whole group of active workers. He is very popular with the youth and the number of youth volunteers is larger than at other mosques in America. Women also play more and more of a positive role.

The people are islamically well informed. When Br. Kaukab paused before the last two verses of Sura al-Balad, 4 people recited the verses right away, in a split second, thinking that he had forgotten.

September 2: Muslims in Bel Air, Maryland meet for Friday prayers in an office building. Some of them are related to the Aberdeen military base's ancillary services. These are Indian Muslims, a few Pakistanis, some Arabs and some from Central Asia, like Uzbekistan.

There is a much larger congregation and an impressive mosque in Newark, Delaware. It's a university town with highly educated Muslims from Pakistan and some Arab countries, including Syria and the UAE.

In both places the following articles were distributed:

Muslims, police scuffle at Rye Playland over amusement park's head scarf ban; 15 arrests made

Rye Playland was shut down Tuesday after cops scuffled with Muslims upset that women wearing head scarves were barred from the rides, witnesses said.

Fifteen people, including three women, were charged with disorderly conduct and assault in the chaos, authorities said.

The Westchester County park was packed with Muslims celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr - the holiday marking the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

One woman, Entisai Ali, began arguing with cops over the amusement park's head scarf, or hijab, rule, said Dena Meawad, 18, of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

The ban, which is not Muslim specific, was imposed about 3 years ago mostly to prevent hats from falling onto the tracks of roller coasters and other rides, park officials said.

"The cops started getting loud with her and she started getting loud, too. They pushed her on the ground and arrested her," Meawad said.

Her cousin, Kareem Meawad, 17, went to try to protect the woman and was beaten by cops and also arrested, she added. Her brother, Issam Meawad, 20, was pushed to the ground and taken into custody when he tried to help his cousin, she said.

"She just wanted to get on a ride. That was it," Dena Meawad said of the initial confrontation. "It's clear, this all happened because we're Muslim."

John Hodges, chief inspector of Westchester County Public Safety, insisted that police did not use excessive force.

He said up to 100 cops from surrounding departments converged on the park.

Two park rangers were injured in the melee, prompting felony assault charges against two people arrested, officials said.

'It's clear, this all happened because we're Muslim,' says Dena Meawad. (Norman Y. Lono for News).

The ugly incident happened just after 1 p.m. The event was organized by the Muslim American Society of New York, and attracted 3,000 Muslims from Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Westchester County.

Ali's sister, Ayman Alrabah, 24, of Brooklyn said her husband, brother and father were all tackled by cops and put into handcuffs when they tried to help her sister.

Alrabah said she was unaware of the head-scarf rule until she and her sister tried to get on the park's Dragon Coasters.

"We requested a refund and all of a sudden an argument became a riot," Alrabah said. "Cops came. They were hitting my brother, my dad. My husband was on the floor and they were handcuffing him.

She said her 4-year-old son was "traumatized" by seeing his father arrested.

"They treated us like animals, like we were nothing," Alrabah said. "They came with their dogs and sticks. We came to have fun."

The park was closed for about two hours because of the fracas. It reopened at about 6 p.m.

Peter Tartaglia, deputy commissioner of Westchester County Parks, said the Muslim American Society of New York was warned in advance of the rule barring head scarves on rides for safety reasons.

"Part of our rules and regulations, which we painstakingly told them over and over again, is that certain rides you cannot wear any sort of headgear," Tartaglia said. "It's a safety issue for us on rides, it could become a projectile."

Many Muslims were given refunds as they left the park disappointed.

"In this heightened state of Islamaphobia, a woman wearing a hajib is an easy target these days," said Zead Ramadan, president of the Council on American-Islamic Relations - New York. "Unfortunately, this turned ugly due to a lot of miscommunication."



Editor's comment: As usual, CAIR is being stupid. This was not islamophobia or misinformation. This was the police. A force of 100 police, moved owing to protest by ONE Muslim family. A Muslim woman was brought down by police. Her family, trying to rescue her, were arrested. It is blatant injustice.

Our youths should not be treated like idiots who are only interested in play. Play should be political too. Look at the children of Palestine and learn how to behave.

We need to stay out of their amusement parks for our eids. Why would Muslims agree to rent an amusement park that doesn't allow hijabs/scarfs on rides??? Somebody is lying. Keep your money and give it to needy Muslims. A Muslim picnic in a beautiful area would have been much more productive. Easier to round up everyone for prayer. Young people can still see each other, and marriages can be discussed.

Rye Park is boring- anyway. When did they establish that stupid rule? Do they make the non Muslim men take off their caps? They wouldn't dare try that on young African American men. I'm glad the Muslim brothers stood up for the sisters.

LAHORE, Sep. 2: The Jamaat e Islami chief, Syed Munawar Hasan, has said that the allegations leveled by Zulfikar Mirza were very serious which should not be ignored. The Supreme Court has already taken notice of the matter and should summon Mirza as a witness, he added. He was talking to media men at Mansoora after the Eid prayers.

Syed Munawar Hasan said that the rulers in Islamabad were US slaves and were advancing American agenda. Conditions were being created in the country similar to the one in East Pakistan prior to the fall of Dhaka.

Earlier, in his address to the Eid congregation at Mansoora mosque, he reiterated that the war on terror was not our war; it was the US war and owning it would only darken Pakistan's future. He counseled the rulers to announce pulling out of this war forthwith and said the drone attacks would stop with that. He said the people did not know how many persons were being killed in drone attacks every day. He said the chief of the air staff had already stated that the PAF could down drones. He wondered why was the government not allowing that.

He further said, if only the NATO supplies were cut off, the drone attacks would stop. However, he said, instead of adopting that course, the government was giving more facilities to the NATO. No other nation in the world would facilitate its enemy in such manner, he remarked.

The JI chief said that the situation in Karachi was being worsened deliberately to complete the enemy agenda. Similarly, there was a plot to tear apart the mineral rich Baluchistan from this country so that the enemy could grab it.

He said as long as the people voted for the MQM, target killing and extortion would continue. Therefore, it was high time the people of Karachi and Hyderabad announced not to vote the MQM, he added.

Syed Munawar Hasan said the biggest problem of the Pakistani nation was the US slavery. He said if being a Muslim was terrorism, then 18o million Pakistanis were terrorists.

He said that the JI firmly believed in the democratic process for bringing about a change in the country. However, he said, if the deprivations of the people continued and they lost faith in the democratic process, they could take up arms which would have dangerous consequences.

He announced that the JI would hold a referendum against the US on September 30 and later stage a sit-in against load shedding, drone attacks, price hike and US slavery, on October 2.

September 3: Media reports on Saturday said documents had been found showing close ties between Col Gaddafi's intelligence services and their US and UK counterparts in recent years.

The CIA reportedly sent terror suspects to Libya for interrogation, while MI6 passed details of exiled Gaddafi opponents to Tripoli.

The documents, found by Human Rights Watch, include personal messages sent from MI6 and CIA chiefs to Col Gaddafi's former spy chief Moussa Koussa.
Mr Koussa defected early in the rebellion, flying to Britain and then to Qatar. Rights groups have accused him of involvement in atrocities.

One paper apparently documents correspondence on the transfer of suspected militant Abdel-Hakim Belhaj from Libya to CIA custody.

Mr Belhaj, who now heads anti-Gaddafi forces in Tripoli, said he had been tortured at a secret prison then returned to Libya.

Another document apparently shows that Britain helped Col Gaddafi with his speech-writing.

I spoke with Imam Ali in Canton last night, and Imam Siraj called me this afternoon (after seeing the release below), both have asserted that the scenario outlined in your New Trend release never occurred. There was no Q&A at the fundraising event in Canton, and the professed confrontation never happened..that it is all a LIE!

My brother, this personal vendetta that you have against this brother of ours needs to stop. (More for your well-being than his.)

Some years ago, not long after this unfortunate allegation first surfaced against Imam Siraj Wahhaj, I investigated the allegation by paying a visit to the office of the New York attorney who represented Sheikh Omar Abdur-Rahman in that politically-motivated and totally unwarranted "seditious conspiracy" trial; a trial that would serve as the forerunner for what we are seeing today in federal courts throughout the land.

My concern with this periodically regurgitated slander revolves around the following:
  1. the accusation made against Imam Siraj is patently untrue, and constitutes false and malicious slander (according to the Book of ALLAH and the Sunnah of the Prophet);


  2. some weak-minded and spiritually comprised Muslims might opine that if a respected leader like Imam Siraj Wahhaj is engaging in such conduct, it must be alright. Let us be clear, to best of my knowledge (and I believe I am correct!) HE DOES NOT; and IT IS NOT ALRIGHT!


  3. It serves the interests of the enemy, by sowing suspicion and dissension within the ranks of the Muslims. This type of corrosive, character assassination-intended infighting (within organized groups) was, and still is, one of the most potent weapons for the architects of COINTELPRO!
Those Muslims who are sincere, and who ignorantly share responsibility for doing the work of the enemy, should cease such behavior and make tauba (seek repentance) to ALLAH. In these blessed last days of Ramadan we should remember the binding words of our Prophet (saaw):

"A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim. He neither oppresses him, humiliates him, nor looks down upon him... All things of a Muslim are inviolable for his brother in faith; his blood, his wealth and his honor."

[Also:] "Whoever conceals the fault of a Muslim, ALLAH will conceal his faults in this world and the next. ALLAH is ready to help a servant so long as the servant is ready to help his brother."

The Washington Post report below underscores just how important the need for unity (and integrity) in our struggle is for Muslims in America. May ALLAH have mercy on us for being collectively content with anything less!

It's not an Accusation but a Fact: Siraj Wahhaj lied:

Helped Put an Islamic Scholar in Prison for Life

asalamu alaikum

Siraj Wahhaj lied against the great Islamic scholar Dr. Omar Abdel Rahman in court UNDER OATH. His lies are not someone's opinion but are well documented.
After Siraj had helped the Zionist judge to send the Shaikh to prison, Siraj enjoyed his success and repeated his lies in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.

Mauri Saalakhan has not brought a shred of evidence to oppose the truth of our report. Notice that Saalakhan did not ask Siraj to reply. Instead he conspired with Siraj and the imam of the mosque to send out a blatantly baseless email defending Siraj. [New Trend was sent to Siraj Wahhaj. It is ridiculous to claim that he did not know what we published and Saalakhan enlightened him.]

Saalakhan has made other huge errors in his career. He used to support CAIR but then turned around and condemned them. He was a staunch supporter of al-Amoudi but then dropped him like a hot potatoe. Saalakhan is a poor judge of character.

Br. Rashid took a great risk to question Siraj in the middle of his blind supporters. He was not trying to disrupt the money gathering activity. New Trend stands by its report. Saalakhan will not get away with his "operation clean up."

ISNA and ICNA which support Siraj Wahhaj are on the record that they have been in bed with the FBI for many years. ISNA leaders and Siraj are government people. He is constantly helping ISNA to drain Muslim funds to build fancy mosques which Islam abhors.

If Siraj is a good Muslim, he should speak for himself. We need to know why Saalakhan thinks Siraj cannot speak for himself.
