3rd Rally for Sulayman Walker Lindh Successful
Ahmed Abdel Sattar's Rights 18 Days later
Dissident U.S. Citizens are Being Targeted
We pulled it off again, alhamdulillah (all praise is for Allah).
The
third rally for Sulayman Walker Lindh (the "American Taliban") was held
on
April 26 in Alexandria, Virginia. Strangely enough the volunteers who
were
there in the March rally did not turn up this time. Instead there were
new
people owing to the efforts of Br. Mahair Sibay, a brother of Syrian
origin.
The rally was moved from its original place at 520 King street to
the
corner of N. Washington and King street where there was tremendous
ongoing
Friday evening traffic. Looks like Alexandria has its New York type of
traffic jam after 4 pm.
One reason for moving the rally was that for some strange reason
very
little traffic was passing 520 King street. The police had created some
kind
of diversion. The move to N. Washington took the police by surprise and
for
most of the demonstration there was no police trying to take pictures
of the
demonstrators.
A main points of Harper's Magazine's article on Lindh by Dobb was
distributed in the form of a flyer to passersby and proved quite
effective.
We reached large numbers of people, much more than could have been
reached
EFFECTIVELY in a 10 second TV report.
A NEW PLACARD THIS TIME, prepared by Sis. Nadrat, said: DETENTION OF
U.S.
MUSLIMS ON SUSPICION is a VIOLATION OF THE CONSTITUTION.
A good number of non-Muslims stopped by to show support. Two of
them
were Christian activists who live within the Alexandria area. One of
them
said that she used to be harrased by Jews for wearing her cross when
she
lived in a Jewish neighborhood in New York. [Very little serious
opposition
has been encountered from the American public in these three rallies.
It
seems that the heavy-handed activities of attorney general Ashcroft
have
turned off Americans.]

Br. Sulayman Walker Lindh's court hearing date is May 31. We plan to be
there. Please come out and show support.

WIFE OF AHMED ABDEL SATTAR UNABLE TO VISIT HIM AFTER 18 DAYS
Top Egyptian dissident, Ahmed ‘Abdel Sattar, respected and loved
by
Muslims in America, who has never committed a crime, is CUT OFF FROM
THE
WORLD 18 days after his arrest. He is a citizen of the U.S. and his
rights
are being violated by the way he is being kept away from society.
After 18 days, his wife has not been permitted to meet him. Sis.
Lisa, his
wife, is being told that she will require top security clearance to
meet her
husband. The authorities were supposed to have sent out a form to her
for
this purpose. She has not received the form; hence she can't meet him.
With
these tricks, the government people "stay within the law" and yet know
how to
violate it.

The rich Muslim groups are as usual keeping quiet about the crimes of
the
U.S. government. These people supported the bloc vote for Bush and then
were
taught a nasty lesson by Bush's police forces. They still think they
can
survive by just keeping quiet. Not a word out of these people about the
blatant arrest of Ahmed ‘Abdel Sattar and denial of his bail!

While on the way to the Walker Lindh rally, we stopped at a masjid
on the
Washington beltway for juma'. Guess what was going on there? Bearded
people,
seemingly very religious, were appealing for $900,000 FOR THE BUILDING
THEY
PRAY IN and the school rooms in it.. They claimed that they had
received
$1,500,000 from Kuwait but the Kuwaiti bank was willing to write off
$600,000
if the local community could come up with $900,000. THEY HAD NO
INTEREST in
SULAYMAN WALKER LINDH. Their world is the world of big money though
the
total number of this community on Juma' is a little over 300 including
children (they claim 500 for publicity purposes)
