should be the Last Person to
"broker peace" in Palestine
[Ms. Carolyn in Florida asks that the following
letter be sent to President
Bush.]
Dear President Bush,
I don't see how the
United States
can broker
peace and security between
the Palestinians and the
Israelis
as the U.S.
government is the chief
financier, supplier of arms, and diplomatic
backer of Israel.
Israel has violated over 70 U.N. Security
Council resolutions and was
protected from 35 others by U.S. veto. Israel
is in direct violation of
international law, including the Fourth Geneva
Convention and the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and yet
received aid in direct
violation of U.S. foreign aid restrictions.
In conclusion, I think it would be in the best
interest of the
Palestinians (and Israel) if another country
acted as a peace broker. That
way at least there would be some justice.
