PAKISTAN: ONLY PUBLIC ACTION CAN STOP GOVERNMENT
CORRUPTION
Early in June, in the city of Gujranwala,
thousands of people attacked
and ransacked a gambling center hidden in a
circus entertainment ensemble.
For several months religious groups had been
complaining to the government about
the use of the Circus by hoodlums as a cover for
gambling and other forms of
racketeering.
The government officials listened but did
nothing.
Demonstrations and public protests took
place but the government ignored
them.
Finally a mass rally took place and the
people went in and destroyed the
entire Circus.
