We have received the following information from Nawai Waqt, pakistan's
oldest
and most prestigious independent newspaper. The paper is known for
quality
journalism and there is no reason to doubt the authenticity of the
report.
The report also brings out the HIGH LEVEL OF INVOLVEMENT OF WOMEN in
the
jihadist movement and helps to remove the legitimacy of anti-woman
propaganda
which is being churned out against Islam and women by the Zionist
media.
This report appeared in Nawai Waqt on February 13, 2002 and has been
translated with great care without any editing:
HAFIZ means one who has memorized the whole Qur'an.
HAFIZA is a woman who has memorized the entire Qur'an.

"Lahore (From our staff reporter/lady reporter). Her mujahid son could
get
neither release nor permission to meet her: Hafiza Aisha, mother of
the
former Ameer of Lashkare Taiba, Prof. Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, died,
taking her
sorrow of being unable to meet her son, with her . The respected lady
was 85
and had suffered from heart disease and asthma for a few years.
Musharref
government's ban on jihad and the arrest on December 31, 2001 of Prof.
Hafiz
Muhammad Saeed had made her seriously ill from sorrow."
"She was admitted to Jinnah hospital where even in a condition of
unconsciousness she kept calling her son Hafiz Saeed, on which the
doctor had
advised that she should be allowed to meet her son. However, the
government
rejected the family's petition that she be allowed to meet him."
"The respected lady Aisha had memorized the entire Qur'an. and had
opened an
Islamic school (medressa) in Sargodha city for little girls. She helped
hundreds of girls to memorize the Qur'an. At this time 24 of her
students are
running medressas for female students. Thus the respected departed lady
is
definitely the founder of a chain of Islamic schools in the province
(of
Punjab)."
"Her father was Maulvi Noor Muhammad. She is being mourned by three
sons and
two daughters ALL OF WHOM HAVE MEMORIZED THE QUR'AN. Hafiz Saeed's
family
migrated from Ropur, district Frozepur (in India) when Pakistan was
established in 1947. Hafiz Saeed's mother moved to 36 South Chak area
of
Sargodha city where she started giving Qur'anic education to children.
Girls
who were students number in the thousands."
"Hafiz Saeed's mother was the sister of a famous Islamic scholar of
the
Indo-Pakistan subcontinent, Prof. Hafiz Abdullah Bahawalpuri who
migrated to
Pakistan with 25,000 people. He led Muslim League's youth in the
struggle in
Sindh against G.M. Syed separatists."
"HAFIZ Saeed's entire family has memorized the Qur'an. His son and
daughter
are among those who have memorized the Qur'an."
"Following the death of his mother, the family petitioned the
government that
he should be allowed to take part in his mother's burial. Hence he was
allowed to go to Sargodha on parole for two days (from Sihala jail) to
take
part in the burial. Funeral prayers were also held after Maghrib at
Hafiz
Saeed's residence in Lahore, 134 I (eye) block, Jauher town, Lahore,
near
Ravi restaurant. Burial was in Salanwali."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Muslims, President Bush and "President" Musharraf and India's
Vajpayee
have declared Hafiz Saeed a "terrorist". He has never been involved in
terrorism and has spent his life working for the Islamic cause and to
liberate Kashmir.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Suggested text of letter to Musharref: "We urge that Hafiz Saeed be
released
without further delay. He is a freedom fighter and to call him a
terrorist is
a travesty of the facts." Please add whatever you want.
We had a report on Hafiz Saeed's Eid day Khutba in Lahore. We can
re-send it
to interested readers.
