AUTHOR of "FROM UTAH TO ETERNITY" WRITES ABOUT 
HER ACCEPTANCE OF ISLAM 
(at New Trend's request)
["From Utah to Eternity" was chosen as New 
Trend's BOOK OF THE MONTH for 
August 2003.]
I come from London and was brought up in a 
Catholic family in Wimbledon. 
I studied Linguistics and French at Manchester 
university and then studied to 
be an English teacher. While teaching in Japan I 
read books about religion 
including Islam and decided to embrace Islam as I 
found it absolutely compelling 
and all the questions and objections I had were 
answered. 
I returned to London and was introduced to my 
husband and we settled in 
Scotland. Good Da'wah and Outreach programmes 
were developed while we were there 
and I increased my knowledge alhamdullilah. I 
joined the ISB when It was 
established and was involved with helping with 
publications, Da'wah work such as 
lectures and exhibitions and radio work.
It was while I was there that I wrote 'Utah' 
I have also completed a survey of attitudes to 
hijab not yet published and I 
am working on a book about globalisation. I also 
write various articles. 
We have just left Scotland with fond farewells to 
many dear friends but look 
forward to seeing them as we settle in my 
husband's country, 
Egypt, 
with our 
five children. Greetings to all readers, 
brothers, sisters and friends from 
sunny Egypt. With the blessings of Allah the 
Internet helps us all keep in touch.
