"So lose not heart, nor fall into despair: for surely you will be
victorious if you are true in faith." (The Qur'an 3:139) (Quoted by
Sis.
Ashira on Feb.10)
The leadership gathering in Greensboro, North Carolina on February
10,
2002 was a successful continuation of the groundbreaking work done on
November 10, 2001. Its purpose was to delineate and implement the
aspirations
of those segments of the Islamic community which want to follow the
Qur'an
and the Hadith rather than the dictates of the fascism which has
emerged in
America under the Bush administration.
The select gathering was well-coordinated and organized owing to
the
efforts of IMAM BADI ALI (Palestinian American).
The keynote speech was made by Dr. ABDUL ALIM SHABAZZ, a
distinguished
professor of Mathematics of international repute (from Lincoln
University,
PA). It was a powerful, transformational presentation in which he
attacked
the constructs of racism and the methods the hegemonistic forces have
used to
debase, demean and defame their victims. The ONENESS OF HUMANITY is the
core
of our message, he said.
Important presentations were made by:
1. Sis. Ashira Na'im, Secretary-General of Jamaat al-Muslimeen
2, 3 and 4: Imam Nadim Ali and Br. Sayeed from Imam Jamil
al-Amin's
Westend Community in Atlanta, with support and information from Sis.
Motisola
M. Abdallah, a well-known activist from Atlanta.
5. Br. Hammad Abdur-Raheem from Falls Church, Virginia.
6. Imam Badi Ali (from Greensboro) who provided Qur'anic
commentary.
7. Dr. Kaukab Siddique (Ameer of Jamaat al-Muslimeen) who chaired
the
program.
8. Br. Rasheed Muhammad (with support from Sis. Bilqees) (from
Rocky
Mount, NC)
9. Imam Khalil Abdur-Rahman, personal representative of Imam
Jamil
al-Amin, who showed a video on the case of Imam Jamil reflecting the
attempts
by the government to railroad him followed by responses from Muslim
community
leaders.
---------------------------------------
The gathering unanimously agreed to APPEAL TO ALL PEOPLE OF
CONSCIENCE
and HUMANITY and particularly to the Muslim Ummah as follows:
1. IMAM JAMIL Al-JAMIL symbolizes the unity and leadership of the
Muslims of
America. The unjust case being brought against him will traumatize the
entire
Muslim community if it continues the way it is going now.
2. We stand against the mistreatment of Islamic prisoners-of-war in
Guantanamo Bay (Cuba). We denounce the inhumane way in which they have
been
treated.
3. We see injustice being done to Br. Sulayman Abdul Hamid (John Walker
Lindh) and urge the community to condemn the injustice.
3a. Neither the Islamic P.O.Ws in Cuba nor Br. Sulayman can be seen as
guilty
because under U.S. law, all people are innocent until proven guilty
beyond a
reasonable doubt.
4. We URGE THE MUSLIM UMMAH (particularly media such as Al-Jazeerah)
and
human beings around the world to speak out against the imprisonment and
fabricated case levelled at IMAM JAMIL al-AMIN.
5. We oppose the CONTINUED IMPRISONMENT OF PRISONERS OF CONSCIENCE such
as
Shaikh Omar Abdel Rahman, Mumia Jamal and Leonard Peltier.
6. We urge Muslims to obey Allah and His messenger by studying the
Qur'an and
the authentic Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Do not be weak or
compromising on clear Islamic teachings. Do not humiliate yourselves.
Do not
bow down before the oppressors.
7. Support the struggle of oppressed people around the world,
particularly in
Palestine, Kashmir, Afghanistan, Somalia, Chechnya and Iraq.

transmitted in the future.}

SPEAKING TO IMMIGRANTS: AMERICA BELONGS TO ALLAH and ALL His People
Earlier on February 9, Dr. Kaukab Siddique addressed a gathering
of
immigrants in Greensboro, North Carolina. He made the following points:
i. America belongs to Allah and hence to all humanity. It is not the
property
of a 'master race.'
ii. The original people of America were the 'Red Indians' and the
economy of
America is based on 400 years of slavery imposed on the people of
Africa.
iii. Do not let anyone tell you that America's bosses are doing you a
favor
by letting you stay here. This country is the home of all its people.
iv. We Muslims love America and the people of America. THE PEOPLE OF
AMERICA
ARE NOT OUR ENEMIES inspite of the 24/7 propaganda of the Zionist
media.
v. The AMERICAN POWER STRUCTURE IS CORRUPT TO THE CORE. The Enron
scandal has
shown that the corruption here is so deep that it is incurable by
secular
means. The entire Bush support base is tainted by enron-type of
activity.
vi. ISLAM is a hope and a BLESSING for the people of America. America
builds
prisons for its people while we Muslims go into the prisons and help
the
victims to liberate themselves from the shackles of materialism.
vii. The Zionist control of America's power structure led to the
genocide of
Palestinians and the bombing and embargo of Iraq and now the bombing of
Afghanistan. We must help the people of America to understand that
"terrorism" is not a spontaneous indication of craziness but has to do
with
the war going on against Islam around the world.
viii. If the Bush administration has evidence against Osama bin Laden
which
can stand up in court, it should be taken to the World Court. Bombing
is not
a substitute for evidence. No nation has the right to become judge,
jury and
executioner. Osama bin Laden's videos (easily tampered with) cannot be
treated as evidence and cases cannot be convincing if they are "tried"
on
controlled TV such as CNN.

MESSAGE FROM BR. JIHAD ABDUL-MUMIT, former Black Panther leader, who
was
unable to attend:
As-salaamu 'alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh!
Dear Imam Kaukab:
Al-hamdulillah! Insha Allah, the meeting will be successful in what it
seeks
to accomplish. Although I am unable to travel to North Carolina, my
thoughts
and du'a will be with you and the other sisters and brothers.
There are three things of significance that I think should be
considered,
that if I were present I would raise:
1) In light of the points that we discussed and agreed upon before, we
need
to discuss how to better fuse those ideas and positions into larger
groupings
of Muslims. Already, by the grace of Allah, there are quite a few
Muslims,
masajid and Imams who have taken these positions and are trying in
their own
way, either individually or collectively - to make them more of a
reality.
We need to identify others of like mind, beyond the reach of our
meetings,
and see what we can do together. In so many ways we need to find more
common
ground to work with others in order to minimize our differences, and
maximize
our commonality. The issues are too large and there's too much to be
done
that hasn't been done for us to be divided as we are. Masha Allah.
2) Figure ways to give more time and attention to building our bases,
communities and masajids right here in the United States. How can we
be more
effective? How can we better service the neighborhoods we actually
live in?
Do our neighbors recognize and respect us? If not, why not and how can
we
address this problem?
Insha Allah, as Muslims we do feel the pain and agony of our sisters
and
brothers overseas, and we always should. But our situation here in the
United States is very precarious. How can we mobolize and solidfy our
efforts and communites right here?
3) Discuss and implement ways to join in with the efforts to support
Imam
Jamil Al-Amin, as this is one of the essence of time.
May Allah suffice us, guide us have mercy upon us and forgive us!
Your brother in Islam,
Jihad Abdul-Mumit
