TROOPS KILLED: CONFIRMATION
as-Salam 'alaykum!
Just a footnote to your story of the eight dead in the 
assault in Iraq yesterday.
Yes, al-Quds al-Arabi quoting journalists and 
eyewitnesses said there were eight Americans killed 
when a US military transport vehicle carrying 10 
Americans apparently hit a mine and burst into flames, 
simultaneously coming under machinegun fire.  It took 
place in a town named Khalidiyya.  (The US 
media 
with their usual ineptness were calling the place Kaldya, 
apparently.)  The paper also reported (and carried 
photographs to show) that the incident was followed by 
pro-Saddam demonstrations.
In addition, al-Quds al-Arabi reported that Thursday 
saw attacks on American forces in al-Fallujah, 
al-Mosul, and Baghdad and guerrillas also set an oil 
pipeline alight in the north of the country.
