WITHDRAWAL OF AMERICAN FORCES FROM MUSLIM LANDS URGED
"They ask you concerning fighting in the sacred months. Say: 'Fighting
therein is a great (transgression) but a greater (transgression) in the
sight
of Allah is to prevent access to al-Masjid al-Haram, and to drive out
its
inhabitants, and oppression/disruption (fitna) is worse than killing.
And
they will never cease fighting you until they turn you back from your
religion if they can." (The Qur'an 2:217)

November 10, 2001 was a historic day at Masjid Jamaat
al-Muslimeen in
Baltimore as outstanding Islamic leaders, teachers, activists met to
bring
forth a coalition across the continent based on the Qur'an and the
authentic
Hadith. The representatives covered the racial spectrum:
African-American,
Pakistani, Arab, European. Women activists were well represented at
community
and university level.
The seven-hour discussion included three hours of work on a
three-part resolution which provides a working agenda, a
well-thought-out
program and guidelines for the future work of Islam in America. The
resolution was finalized with unanimous consent.
The keynote address was given by Dr. Abdul Alim Shabazz in
which he
urged Muslims to be aware of the racial constructs the dominant culture
produces to divide and demoralize the people.
The mission statement was presented by Imam Warithuddin 'Umar.
The three-part resolution is seen by the COALITION, which has
emerged,
as an INITIAL but historic document. It calls for AUTHENTIC PEACE
INITIATIVES.
The resolution objects to the SO-CALLED ANTI -TERRORISM program
orchestrated
by the Bush government.
It calls for REPARATIONS for the descendants of American slaves.
It condemns the bombing of AFGHANISTAN and the secret wars being
carried on
against African countries.
It opposes U.S. SUPPORT FOR ISRAELI OCCUPATION OF PALESTINE and calls
for
peaceful EXIT OF all ISRAELIS from Palestine.
PART II of the resolution relates to Da'wah and the
reconcilition of
differences among Muslims.
It urges the building of a self-subsisting Islamic infrastructure
in
America.
A very unusual initiative here is to develop a team of
representatives
who would meet Muslims in Afghanistan and other parts of the world to
develop
the unity of the Muslim world.
PART III of the resolution consists of five points, the central
one
being the need for political consciousness which would help expose and
bring
down the corrupt and tyrannical regimes in the Muslim world.

"WE CANNOT DOUBT THE SINCERITY OF TALIBAN"

{Imam Nadim's statement of support for the November 10 meeting
began
with the Qur'anic verse quoted at the top of this report. Here is the
remaining text of the statement.}
"The forces of hypocrisy and disbelief have aligned themselves
once
again for the destruction of the Islamic State. Throughout time this
unholy
alliance has fused to suppress Allah's Word.
Islam is a way of life, not just a religion, because Allah has
promised
us victory. That victory will come to those who establish salah and pay
zakat.
Just as during the time of the Prophet (pbuh), the forces of kufr
have
used three methods to suppress the movement.
1. Torture
2. Internal and external propaganda
3. Boycott
The TALIBAN under the leadership of MULLAH 'UMAR were formed out
of the
necessity of the people of Afghanistan. They are NOT a foreign force.
Prior
to the reign of the TALIBAN, the people were subjected to many
atrocities.
The TALIBAN by all objective accounts were a stabilizing force in the
country.
Whether we agree or disagree with their approach to the deen, we
cannot
doubt their sincerity, and the Prophet (pbuh) said this deen is based
on
sincerity.
What this incident has shown me is that how many Muslims are
comfortable eating pork and drinking wine. What I mean is: how many
Muslims
have adjusted to a diet of fat lies and are intoxicated with the
illusions of
this world.
The road to Shariah will not be an easy one. We must be prepared
to
struggle with our lives and our limbs.
The road to jannah is not smooth, and may Allah bless the
Muslims who
are struggling to establish Islam in their hearts as well as in the
land,
because the believers will eventually win.
I SUPPORT THE EFFORTS TO ASSIST THE PEOPLE OF AFGHANISTAN IN
DEFINING
THEIR OWN REALITY." (Message ends)
