Distribution of New Trend Magazine Held in Baltimore Area
October 16 – Hard copies of New Trend were given to 92 people after juma'ah prayers at a mosque in the Baltimore suburbs. The mosque membership is varied and diverse, with attendees from India, Pakistan, Palestine, Ghana, Senegal, and many other Arab and African countries. Many of the couples who attend the prayer have married across race or culture.
The khutbah, delivered by a young khateeb, seemed particularly on point. It spoke of the importance of appreciating the crumbs of life, and not being elitist or spoiled.
The New Trend edition distributed was from September 10 (but still very relevant). The front page featured a poem by Imam Ali Siddiqui and leading article on Maulana Syed Abul Ala Maudoodi by Dr. Kaukab Siddique. There were also articles by Sr. Aisha and Sr. Yasmin. It was very well received by the juma'ah attendees.
Two Questions from a New Trend Reader: Hadith on "Ink of the Scholar.." and Abu Huraira Hadith Narrations Suspect?
A long time New Trend reader sent us these questions:
One: I wanted to know your views on the following quote attributed to Prophet Muhammad (SAW): "The ink of the scholar is worth more than the blood of the martyr." I hear certain Muslims, WD Muhammad, in particular, say it when encouraging Muslims to avoid challenging wrong.
Two: Recently, a Muslim commented that Abu Hurairah's hadith narrations were weak. During the Juma'ah, there were grunts and groans of disbelief from attendees. Is it true that Abu Huraira is untrustworthy?
New Trend's response: There is no such hadith. If it exists, a citation of where it appears (which book of hadith, etc.) should be given. Which sahabi narrated it? Hadith are always quoted in a particular context.
Consider why the Prophet (PBUH) would say this. He was in wars, not sitting around writing.
Also, it is irresponsible to quote total fabrications. But then WD Muhammad was a government sycophant, so his, or his followers saying this comes no surprise.

The Country Under Critical Lense Exposes Power Grab and Corruption
Pakistan's political governance embodies loss of basic human values, systematic corruption, despotic policies and decision-making to tolerate the opposition and dreadful apparatus of missing legitimate governance. Is Pakistan drowning or its destiny is vulnerable to be ruled by a few neo-colonial families? The recent authoritarian action signals the coming of martial law administration against the freedom of people and democratic values. Nations cease to exist when governed by egoistic Generals, incompetent and dishonest politicians caring for the self lacking vision, integrity and logic of nation-building. Contemporary progressive nations produce educated, intelligent and proactive leaders to plan for sustainable future-making.
Pakistani Generals could be bought and sold at market places disclosed Bruce Riedel, Brooking Institute, USA ("Battle for the Soul of Pakistan" ), a former President Obama's advisor on Pakistan and Afghanistan, 2009.
Formative history tells Pakistanis lost over sixty years stolen by political conspirators, martial law administrators and egoistic dictators making disdained future.
The seven or more known military coups stabbed the body of Pakistan time and again. Pakistan faces serious problems of national unity, identity and nation-building.
First, it was ZA Bhutto and General Yahya Khan in 1971 failure to transfer power to the elected party.
Today, Shahbaz Sharif, so called Prime Minister once again stabbed the nation with the complicity of few Generals to avert peaceful political demonstration in Islamabad.
The delusional politics of the few – Punjabi political elite are alleged to have stolen the time and opportunities for systematic change, harmony and national unity.
They prefer to blame and bomb Afghanistan, an ethnic- cultural neighbor rather than overcoming their own failure to ensure border security.
Zardari, an illegitimate politician and president, dismissed a Pakhtunkhwa elected provincial government as it would not allow federal actors to undermine its functional apparatus.
The masses demand restoration of democratic institutions, freedom of Imran Khan and public accountability of criminals ruling the country.
Political corruption and nepotism are the order of the day.
Do responsible people learn from their past mistakes and make navigational changes for the good of people and nation?
Not the Pakistani elite, they lost half of the country to India (1971 and making of Bangladesh) but refused to transfer political power to elected Sheikh Mujib ur Rehman's Awami League.

The 2024 National Elections were Rigged by the Ruling Elite

The ruling elite – Sharif family and the Generals view Pakistan as their own property and are not open to reason and accountability. They are engaged in systematic subversion of national freedom, security and future-making. They cannot realize the imperatives of hopes and expectations of a new generation of educated and morally and intellectually competent people. Future belongs to the new generation of educated people, not to the naive and obsolete Generals. They are the wrong people, with wrong thinking and doing the wrong things. Few Generals Run Pakistan and Sharif Brothers Stabbed the Nation

Pakistan needs a navigational change but where would the change come from? Arguably, a moral and intellectual leader could reset the future of highly colonized country. Tyranny is always powerless and transitory. Often when sadistic politicians cannot solve one set of problems, they come up with other naive ideas to create more critical problems to distract the masses. Retired NYPD Detective Murders Family Man in Road Rage
On Tuesday, October 20th, Consolidated Edison (ConEd) employee Koran Irvine was killed in a road rage incident on the upper level of the George Washington Bridge, in the lane headed toward New Jersey. No one really got a clear look at the shooter in the other car.
Irvine's car could be seen swerving slightly toward another car. The car Irvine nearly swerved into pulled up on the right of Irvine's car and fired a shot, which killed him.
Koran Irvine, 46 years old, was not only a beloved employee and friend, but was a married father of two young children.
Fortunately, the New York Police Department (NYPD) was able to identify the license plate of the shooter's car from surveillance video. The murderer has been identified as retired NYPD detective Victor Romero, 62 years old, who has been charged with first-degree manslaughter.
According to a statement by the NYPD, Romero was charged with murder. But the Manhattan District Attorney's Office reduced it to first-degree manslaughter.
I smell a rat!
A person can decide to kill someone only seconds before they attempt to do it. Also, a gun is viewed as a deadly weapon, which is why shooters, whether they kill someone or not, are often charged with either murder or attempted murder.
The judge set Romero's bail at $1 million against the Irvine family's objections. The Irvine family camp believes he is a flight risk.
Romero is cold-blooded! He shot another driver for nearly swiping his car and went to work the next day as if nothing happened. I believe DA Alvin Bragg is already preparing to botch this case so the grand jury does not indict this former NYPD detective.

No More Central Park Horse Buggies
On October 22nd, the New York City Council voted to ban horse-drawn carriages in Central Park. Since 1858, couples and families have enjoyed horse buggy rides through Central Park. However, animal rights activists and other critics have questioned their safety for the animals and riders in recent years.
For over 18 years, New York City politicians have been in a tug-of-war. This time, the measure to ban horse carriages in Central Park gained momentum after the unfortunate death of 18-year-old Indian tourist Romanch Mahajan while on a runaway horse-drawn carriage. The City Council had enough votes to overcome any mayoral veto. However, Mayor Mamdani has already expressed his support and plans to sign the ban into law.
It was suggested that rules be established for helping horse carriage drivers transition to other forms of employment.
The Transport Workers Union Local 100 calls this legislation an attack on the working class and accuses politicians of exploiting the death of a young man for their own gain. The union says the city has not offered enough support for carriage drivers, who feel their livelihood is threatened.
The ban, called Romanch's Law, has not been signed into law yet.

Generation Z's Addiction to Sports Betting
"They ask you [Muhammad] concerning wine and gambling. Say: 'In them is great sin, and some profit, for men; but the sin is greater than the profit.'" (Holy Qur'an 2:219).
Since the 2018 Supreme Court decision to allow states to legalize sports betting, it is everywhere. In 2025, Americans placed $167 billion worth of bets!
However, 52% of Generation Z members interviewed said they use sports betting to replace investing. In addition, 1 out of 4 Generation Zers say sports betting is part of their long-term financial planning.
Generation Z is a label for people born in the mid-1990's to the early 2010s.
Men aged 18 to 49 are setting up sports betting accounts. According to Neuroscience and Psychology Professor Michael Platt (University of Pennsylvania), the lure of sports betting is the illusion of controlling outcomes. Gamblers place bets based on their knowledge of their sports team, which they feel gives them an advantage. The gambler hopes his knowledge will yield more money than he initially placed on a bet.
Sports betting is no different than the stock market, where investors gamble on investments based on their knowledge of companies. The difference between stock market investing and sports betting is that sports betting has larger payouts and it is quicker to reap the spoils.
But it is an illusion that the gambler has more control over the outcome than he really does. Over time, sports betting yields poorer results and losses. Research from the New York Federal Reserve links the expansion of sports betting to the increase in payment delinquencies and bankruptcies.
Even though gambling can be addictive, the report still promoted sports betting as a good form of entertainment and that investing in long-term stock investments is better for generating wealth over time.
There is no such thing as outsmarting the devil. The best thing is to keep away from him and his temptations. This is how humankind will prosper (Holy Qur'an 5:90).

You created me from fire,

'The major 'Kufr' is of Five (5) kinds...

#2/ ~Kufr of Arrogance and Pride.
#3~ Kufr of Aversion.
#4/~Kufr of Doubt .
#5/~ Kufr of Hypocrisy .
(2) Concerning the Kufr of Arrogance and Pride:
It was the Kufr of Shaytan because he did not deny
the command of Allah, or reject it
but he met it with pride and arrogance.
from this (type of Kufr) is the Kufr
of those who knew and believed that
PROPHET ﷺ~
has come with the truth from Allah but did not acknowledge it out of pride and arrogance...{!}
It is the 'Kufr' of the Jews (#3),
'then when there came to them that which they had recognized, they disbelieved in it.'

So, the reason behind the expelling of Iblees was pride
ALLAH does not like the arrogant because
a proud person considers himself self-sufficient
and in no need of ALLAH the Exalted.
whosoever assumes such is surely seized by the

The reason for this is that every action in this universe
is due to ALLAH Alone...{!}
None possesses the Power to execute anything
except ALLAH...{!}
Every action has a time and place in which it takes
place and we possess neither the time nor the place,
and none possesses the power to maintain his life even
for a moment and none possesses the power
to even move from one place to another
except with the Will of ALLAH.
So how can any man or any creation
take pride in anything ?
Verily ALLAH Alone is
'The Irresistible, the Proud...'

until no one is proud over another

is forbidden for the servants of ALLAH,
for each additional thing that one becomes proud of, builds his ego...{!}
This is witnessed in the behavior of Iblees when he became too proud to obey ALLAH command and said...
'I am better than he is.'

related that Imam Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) ...
Imam Bukhari once travelled by boat on a journey
to seek out knowledge and he had taken with him
one thousand~{1000} Dinars~{!}
one of his fellow travelers ingratiated himself with Imam Bukhari, outwardly showing him love and admiration.
During the sea-voyage, the man often made it a point
to sit in his company.
On long journeys, friendships develop faster than normal,
and during the course of the time they spent together...
Imam Bukhari informed the man that he had
one-thousand dinars with him.
The morning after Imam Bukhari spoke about the money,
the man woke up and began to cry, scream,
and rip his clothing apart, and slap his own face,
as if he had just been afflicted with a great loss {!}
The fellow shipmates asked him what was wrong,
and he refused to answer at first, as if he was still in a
state of shock and could not bring himself to speak
about his situation...
After they continually insisted that he tell them what the matter was with him, he finally said...
"I had a bag that contained one thousand dinars and I lost it."
The crewmen who were in charge of the ship began
to search all the passengers.
one by one everyone was being searched,
and upon realizing what was happening,
Imam Bukhari, making sure that no one was looking
threw his bag of money over the side of the ship...{!}
When it was his turn to be searched...
nothing was found {!}
When the entire ship and all of its passengers were searched, and when no bag of money was found,
those in authority on the ship went back to the man who
had made up the story and chastised him for making a
false claim and for putting them through so much trouble.
As soon as the ship finally reached the shore,
the passengers began to disembark...
meanwhile, Imam Bukhari's friend went to him
and asked him what he had done
with the bag of money... {?}
" I threw it into the sea," {!}
~Imam Bukhari matter-of-factly replied...
"And you are patiently accepting the fact that you have
just lost such a huge sum of money?"
the man asked in bewilderment.
"O ignorant one," Imam Bukhari said...
"do you not know that I have spent my
entire life ....
gathering the Hadeeth of the Messenger
(Sallallahu alaihi wasallam ( صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ)
and the world now acknowledges my trustworthiness.
would it then have been befitting for me to
subject myself to the accusation of theft {?}
and shall I lose a precious Pearl
(i.e my knowledge and achievements as a scholar)
that I have earned over a lifetime over a
limited number of dinars ? "
