Palestine
On the evening of February 20, explosives were detonated on
three buses in Southern Tel Aviv. Further, unexploded
explosives were found on two additional buses. The buses
were parked and empty, having completed their routes for the
night. They were located in the Israeli cities of Bat Yam
and Holon. No Islamic group has explicitly claimed
responsibility. However, the incidents seem to have created
a furor amongst the Israeli authorities.
In response to the bus bombings, the Zionist public
transportation sector was put on high alert. The office of
the indicted war criminal Netanyahu issued the following
statement, "The Prime Minister has ordered the [military] to
carry out an intensive operation against centres of
terrorism in Judea and Samaria [the occupied West Bank]. The
Prime Minister also ordered the Israel Police and the ISA
[Israeli Security Agency] to increase preventative activity
against additional attacks in Israeli cities." (Al-Jazeera,
February 21, 2025)
This translated to a massive incursion into the West Bank by
Israeli tanks on February 21. The Israelis are violating all
human rights and Palestinian rights by taking over turf
where they have no mandate. Forty thousand Palestinians have
been forced to flee their homes in the West Bank.
Lebanon
A massive funeral was belatedly held for Hassan Nasrallah.
He had been given a basic burial ceremony soon after death,
according to Islamic tradition. But a more elaborate
ceremony had to be held, given his stature in Lebanon and
the Islamic world as a whole. This ceremony was held about
five months after his assassination at Zionist hands. He was
formally laid to rest along with his successor, Hashem
Safieddine, who was also assassinated. In a menacing
display, Israeli planes flew overhead during the
ceremony.
Tens of thousands of people, including many dignitaries,
from across the Arab and Islamic world and beyond attended.
The Lebanese government, the Iranian government, the
Houthis, and many others all sent their representatives. It
showed the level of respect for the major Lebanese symbol of
resistance to Israel.
Program on Anti-Apartheid South Africa Held
Long-time human rights activist and Aafia Foundation
director, Mauri Saalakhan hosted an unusual program on the
South African news station "Salaam Media" on February 23.
As the host described it, "It is a thought-provoking
follow-up conversation with two outstanding South African
guests - Kim Heller and Tahir Maepa."

Push for Mayor Adams' Removal
By Sis. 'Aisha Jamaat al-Muslimeen New York City
New York Governor Kathy Hochul is the only one with the
power to remove a New York mayor from office but has decided
not to do so at this time. However, Gov. Hochul proposed new
oversight laws that would limit Mayor Adams' power over New
York City.
This past week, rallies demanded that Mayor Adams step down.
New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams (who is not
related to Mayor Adams) requested that he do so, citing yet
another deputy mayor's resignation—the fourth one.
Council Speaker Adams said that these resignations are a
sign that people have lost confidence in the mayor.
Some people are lashing out at the mayor for having ties to
President Trump.
As of Friday, 2/21, Federal Judge Dale E. Ho had canceled
the corruption trial against Mayor Adams but will not decide
whether to drop the federal corruption charges against him
until after March. In federal court, the mayor acknowledged
that the charges could be reinstated, which is part of the
U.S. Department of Justice's request to drop them.
According to critics, the mayor's collaboration with Trump
on certain measures is motivated by the possibility of
reviving corruption charges.
National Guard Replace Corrections Officers
Some New York State prisons have experienced striking
corrections officers (CO). New York Governor Hochul has
referred to these as illegal strikes. As of Wednesday, 2/19,
she deployed the National Guard to replace the striking COs
until their strike ends. On Thursday, 2/20, ten corrections
officers were indicted in the death of handcuffed inmate
Robert Brooks at the Marcy Correctional Facility. His
12/9/2024 beating death was caught on a bodycam.
Some political leaders claim the strike is a maneuver to
distract from the indictments.
Attorney General Leticia James recused herself from the case
because her office represented several of the implicated COs
in civil lawsuits. Onondaga County District Attorney William
Fitzpatrick will be acting as a Special Prosecutor and said
he will prove that officers believed the bodycams were off
during the merciless beating.
