Pak Islamic leader Munawar Hasan speaks again for unity
against imperialism.
Please scroll.
On May 25, a Chechen woman gave her life and carried out a
bombing operation against the Russian Interior Ministry in
Makhachkala, a town in Daghestan. Her name is Madina
Aliyava. At least 33 Russian troops were wounded but details
are not available.
War news are at the end of this bumper issue. Scary but
important.
An amazing report from Saudi Arabia supporting women's right
for khula. Go way down.
Is there an objective way of finding out whether the Islamic
work of Kaukab Siddique and Jamaat al-Muslimeen has been
successful in America?

Or are we just patting ourselves on
the back?We are publishing a letter from Husain Arif, a
Pakistani American intellectual, who then quotes an article
from the journal INSIDE HIGHER EDUCATION by Dan Berrett.
[Ref: Zionism and the holocaust story.] Both Husain Arif and
Berrett are unknown to us and were not writing to us.

Literature given to 100 Muslims in Newark, Delaware inspite
of rain
May 24: After juma' salat at the Islamic Center in Newark,
Jamaat al-Muslimeen's literature was given to 100 Muslims.
The rain made it look like like impossible but suddenly
after Juma, the rain stopped completely and literature was
distributed without any problem. The crowd was diverse:
African Americans, Africans, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis,
Arabs, even a few Malaysians. Many of them are young and
very enthusiastic about Islam.
These were six pages given out, [total 600 pages], including
the following:
-
Nigeria: Boko Haram gains three states in north eastern
Nigeria, followed by all out Nigerian army assault with
heavy artillery and aircraft on the area.
 -
Gathering of families of Muslim political prisoners to
protest at the Department of Justice in Washington, DC,
organized by Br. Mauri Saalakhan.
 -
Pakistani election fiasco of May 11. Nothing will change.
 -
Great success of Pak Jamaate Islami leader Syed Munawar
Hasan.
 -
Statement of Malcolm Shabazz before his assassination.

Pakistan's Elections of May 11.
Why am I not Condemning Jamaate Islami for its Participation
in elections and the seeming Debacle?
Two letters & answers by Kaukab Siddique
I am curious why you have not condemned JI for participating
in a haram system. Like you would if they were in USA?
Shoaib [Qatar]
Your analysis of JIP's debacle in the elections was not as
incisive as
I expect from you. Probably, your soft corner for Munwwar
Sahib forced you to HOLD BACK.
Dr. Omar Afzal [Ithaca, New York]
Q. #1. Br. Shoaib, Pakistan is not a haram system. Pakistan
was created in the name of Islam. A long struggle led by
Maulana Maudoodi followed as a result of which the ruling
bureaucracy was forced to admit that Sovereignty belongs to
Allah Almighty. This was written into the Constitution and
is Maudoodi's lasting contribution to Pakistan's integrity.
The Islamic movement has become so strong that every
political party and even the ruling class pays homage to
Islam.
Early on the Qadianis ["ahmeddis"] threatened the
foundations of Pakistan by claiming that there can be a
prophet after
Muhammad, pbuh, although he may be like Haroon to Moses.
Maudoodi was sentenced to death for opposing this move but
survived as the government fell.
Other dictators like Field Marshal Ayub Khan imprisoned
Maudoodi and Jamaate Islami's entire shoora but when India
attacked in 1965, Maudoodi was asked to rally the country in
the name of Islam, which he did inspite of the way he had
been treated.
No one in Pakistan now dares to say openly that Pakistan is
not or should not be an Islamic state.
Q. #2. Why did Jamaate Islami lose the May 11 elections?
The forces of reactionary religion, the forces of NIFAQ
[hypocrisy], the influences of America, grew in strength and
reinforced the power of the existing exploitative system:
feudalism, landlordism and raw capitalism.
Jamaate Islami's leadership went into decline after Maulana
Maudoodi became ill and passed. The new ameer, Mian Tufail
Muhammad, a very pious man, was weak in his political
understanding and under him Jamaate Islami became
reactionary in its moves.
Owing to inner party dialectic, Qazi Hussain Ahmad became
the new ameer. He opened the doors to populism and efforts
to gain support from the youth. His wife is highly educated
and attracted women to JI.
With the emergence of Syed Munawar Hasan as ameer, JI has
been transformed. It retains its pious, religious, base but
has become a radical movement. However, its radicalism
insists on non-violent, peaceful means for social and
political change. Very large numbers of youth and women,
including young women, have joined Jamaate Islami without
filling in membership forms. This JI under Munawar has a
flexibility and maneuverability which it never had before.
This is also JI's dilemma that its mass support creates a
push for quick change which the shoora resists.
Look at Munawar Hasan's tactics:
-
Directing the nation's attention away from internal
conflict towards foreign enemies. Against America, against
NATO, against drones, against Israel, against India, moral
support for Afghan Taliban, Kashmir, Palestine, Iran, China.
 -
Focusing on daily problems of the people: electricity,
water, prices, misery of flood affected people, opposing
gangsterism, crime and drugs.
 -
Friendship with Shias, Baluchis, Christians.

So why the failure in the elections?:
-
Jamaate Islami worked more as a catalyst than as a
revolutionary force.
 -
It's new ideas were ideological and as the masses
accepted them, other groups took them over as their own. For
instance, Nawaz Sharif, the biggest winner, and Imran Khan,
both borrowed the anti-American rhetoric, the opposition to
drones, the support for Taliban.
 -
In a conventional election, those who had huge sums of
money were able to project JI's ideas as their very own and
JI did not have the media support to contradict them.
 -
Some groups which are much more radical than JI, like
Jamat ud-Dawa and Pakistani Taliban, and the movement for
Sharia, made the JI look like "talkers" and not "doers."
 -
In Karachi, JI's refusal to counter MQM's violence with
violence looked like weakness.
 -
Very conservative Muslim groups opposed JI for being too
"liberal."owing to large turnout by women in support of JI.
Some of these groups don't like JI because it is too
friendly with Shi'as.

Conclusion: The way JI is going is the way to success in
Pakistan. Very pious people supporting Munawar Hasan, like
Sirajul Haq [JI's VP] ,who are also politically savvy, make
JI a strong force which could change Pakistan for the
better, inshallah.

Staten Island Wholesale King Pleads Guilty to Bank Fraud
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/22/nyregion/saquib-khan-state-island-wholesaler-pleads-guilty-to-bank-fraud.html?ref=pakitan&_r=0

Published: May 21, 2013
A Staten Island man who wrote $82 million in worthless
checks over a two-week period as part of an ambitious fraud
scheme pleaded guilty on Tuesday to several counts of bank
fraud. Still, Mr. Khan, who came to the United States in the
1980s, held stature among Pakistanis on Staten Island,
serving as chairman of the board of a prominent Staten
Island mosque. And he gave tens of thousands of dollars to
political campaigns.
Saquib Khan, who owns a wholesale cigarette and grocery
business on Staten Island that supplies delis and gas
stations around the city, admitted to carrying out the shell
game in which he wrote millions of dollars of bad checks to
himself, deposited them and transferred the money to other
accounts he controlled before the banks realized the fraud.
He said he used the money to support his business.
In Federal District Court in Brooklyn on Tuesday, Mr. Khan
held his head low during the hearing and slouched in his
chair at the defendant's table. In a faint whisper, Mr. Khan
said eight times that he was guilty, after the magistrate
judge, Ramon E. Reyes Jr., asked him his plea on each count
of bank fraud. By the end, his voice cracked.
"I know, judge, it was wrong to present checks like that,"
Mr. Khan said. "Now I understand what I did was a crime and
I'm sorry about that."
Mr. Khan faces up to six and a half years in prison under
the federal sentencing guidelines. As part of a plea
agreement with the government, he agreed to pay $4.8 million
in restitution; he has already repaid the rest of the money
to the banks. Mr. Khan, who is not an American citizen, will
also be deported to Pakistan.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 27.
His crimes were of a scale that only a person of means could
have pulled off. On one day, for example, Mr. Khan deposited
$3.5 million of worthless checks into one his banks,
according to a complaint against him. On that same day, he
made four wire transfers, totaling $3.6 million, to another
of his accounts. The relative ease with which he moved fake
money between accounts — a fraud called check kiting —
pointed to gaping holes in the way banks authorize
checks.
His business, Richmond Wholesale Company, which he built
with his family, recorded $125 million in sales last year,
according to Dun & Bradstreet, a financial information
provider. Mr. Khan had lived a life of extravagance, with a
luxury car and a large house in the tony Todt Hill
neighborhood.
In an unrelated criminal case, Mr. Khan had testified that a
soldier in the Genovese crime family pressured a deli owner
to sell his business to him, suggesting that some of his
business success was ill gotten.
Still, Mr. Khan, who came to the United States in the
1980s, held stature among Pakistanis on Staten Island,
serving as chairman of the board of a prominent Staten
Island mosque. And he gave tens of thousands of dollars to
political campaigns.

Why TALAQ is easy but KHULA is almost impossible in the
Muslim society?
A report from Saudi Arabia.
May 15:
Photo: A seminar in Jeddah organized by the Socio-Reforms
Society addressed by Advocate Osman Shaheed and Aleem Khan
Falaki.
A successful seminar was held on "Why Talaq is easy, but
Khula is almost impossible in Muslim Society?" one of the
most burning issues at present in the Muslim society. It was
attended by a large number of men and women at Shadab Hall
of Jeddah on 10th May, 2013 after the Friday Prayers. The
speakers reviewed the status of the real Islamic guidance,
present norms and the Indian constitution on divorce rules.
Qari Mohammed Abbas Khan recited Quran at the start of the
seminar.
Aleem Khan Falaki, who is leading the socio reforms
movement, emphasized that no other religion has descended or
formulated rules about human rights, women's rights and
equitable social justice as clearly and justly as Islam.
But, unfortunately, every community interpreted these rules
according to its own convenience. In particular, the rules
related to women have been drafted and being interpreted
with full patriarchal manifestation. We bow down our heads
with shame when we see Muslim women crowding police
stations, Qazi's offices, courts and advocates begging
justice.
It is perceived that the man is at liberty to utter the
words of TALAQ and darken the future of the woman and
children and that TALAQ is applicable instantly. However, if
the woman wants to leave her husband, she has to face
humiliation for months and years. In the husband-wife
disputes, both are equally responsible, but it is the woman
who is punished mostly. If the man has the right to dislike
some acts of the woman, the woman too, being an equal human
being, has the right to get reluctant due to some unpleasant
acts of the man. This is not justice that the woman must
bear with every unpleasant act of the man and the man gets
the right to treat her like a servant and punish her for
every act that is unpleasant to him and threaten to
terminate her from the job.
There are many traditions as well as incidents in the life
history of the Prophet Mohammed , (may peace be upon him)
that shed the light on the gender justice and clearly
reflect that there was equality in the cases of Talaq and
Khula.
Hadith#1.
A woman came to the Prophet (Pbuh) and complained that her
husband, an Ansari, slapped on her cheek so intensely that
her cheek got red. The Prophet (Pbuh) did the justice,
called her husband and asked his wife to slap him with the
same intensity as he did to her.
Hadith #2.
In another incident, a lady companion asked the Prophet
(Pbuh) for Khula from her husband. The Prophet (Pbuh) asked
the reason. She kept silent. He asked if her husband's
character was questionable to which she answered that there
was nothing wrong with his character as he was pious and God
fearing. Still she pressed for the Khula and the Prophet
(Pbuh) did not insist her to reveal the reason and awarded
Khula to her.
Hadith narrative: Caliph Umar, r.a.
We find a saying of Hadhrat Omer, r.a., that "If the man
divorces he must present the reason to the QAZI, but if a
woman wants a Khula and she is not willing to present the
reason, the QAZI must not insist and should award her the
Khula.
There are other incidents too in the history which reveal
that the woman got the justice equal to men. But, in the
contemporary Muslim Personal laws constituted by different
communities, the man has been provided every convenience to
divorce the woman. As a result, the status of the woman has
been totally marginalized. She becomes like a slave or an
employee whose existence depends upon the consent of the
employer. He can divorce her even if he is drunk, in anger,
jokingly or sick. The divorce is applicable immediately even
if he gives TALAQE GHALEEZA, TALAQE BID'AT.
Even his representative can divorce her on his behalf. She
is separated instantly. He and only he has the right to have
mercy on her and come back but she is not given such a
right. The man is free and can go to have second or third
marriage if he wants and there are no restrictions upon him
from the law. She is compelled to wander around to prove he
was right or wrong. The woman does have the right to
terminate the Nikah on certain conditions, but all the
conditions are conditional to the husband's consent on
separation. Unless he signs to give his consent, the Khula
is not considered valid. In the Indian Muslim Personal Law,
there are 42 clauses in favor of Talaq and only 4 in favor
of Khula. Ironically, all the four clauses carry the
condition of husband's consent on the Khula. It is nothing
different from the Hindu beliefs that "Jisghar men
dolijaaewahan se dolauthhe", or "shaadiatootbandhanhai" , or
"Shaadizindgi men ekbaarhotihai". Although, the Hindu
society is giving up this practice, but the Muslim society
is still holding these beliefs firmly on the pretext of
Shariya law. They practice the same Hindu beliefs and go on
taking revenge from the woman.
It does not mean that the woman is totally innocent. In most
of the disputes, it is the woman and her family who bring
the couple close to a breakup. But, again, the question is
that if the man does not find interest in her, he has the
right to leave her. Why does not she have the same right?
Why is she roped around the neck? Why is she compelled to
enforce Anti-dowry case, Police complaints, goons etc to
terminate marriage?
Aleem Falki added that he was talking about those women who
are victims of men's revenge and suffering. There are
hundreds of cases in which women harass the innocent
husbands. It is not always that woman is only innocent. But,
that is a different topic and be debated in another such
forum. Since some pseudo-intellectuals raise the unrelated
topics and divert the topic, rather kill the topic and
therefore, he requested to adhere to the topic.
He then raised the situation where thousands of men adopt
the revengeful policy of hanging women and elaborated on
it.
The present Indian Muslim personal Law was drafted in 1937.
It was called Mohammaden Law or Indian Shariyat Act. Article
224 of the Indian constitution guarantee application of
these laws as far as muslim personal affairs are concerned.
It is to be borne in the mind that the Fiqh is not equal to
holy Quran. The scholars of different time extract and
expand the laws of Shariya according to the situation
present during a particular time. It is inevitable that
these laws can be amended, changed or scrapped, if the new
circumstances emerge. It is the need of the hour to keep the
laws competent to the prevailing circumstances.
Maulana Minnatullah Rahmani, the founding member of Muslim
Personal Board as well as the writer of several books on
this issue wrote in his book "Muslim Peronal Law" that the
Masa'el are of two types. One, those issues which were never
experienced by the predecessor scholars and therefore the
fiqh is silent on those issues. Second, those issues which
have to be deliberated afresh under the changing situations.
The time when the present laws were drafted, has changed
completely. The time when these laws were drafted, the man
was a real "Qawwam" (Protector or care taker of the woman)
according to the Quran. He was not the receiver of the dowry
or Tilak or dinners from the woman. The woman was not aware
of the modern education, job or outside world. The
anti-Islamic literature was not taught to her in the name of
woman's rights, feminism, equality and gender justice.
Today, the man has inverted or rather subverted the
teachings of Quran and Shariya completely. Now, he does not
pay 'Mahr', but instead, collects dowry from the woman not
only in the form of net cash, but also demands property,
automobile etc. He grabs the salary, inheritance and
belongings of the wife. He is engaged in illegitimate
relations too. The divorce ratio is increasing alarmingly.
In Kuwait it is 37%, Qatar 33% and Saudi Arabia 21%. In
India and Pakistan, although it is 4-5% but the ratio of the
strained relation or disturbed marriages is over 60%. In
other words, every third house is affected by the hatred,
court or police cases. The scholars (ulema) are not able to
carry counseling because the subject of the counseling,
although emphasized much in the traditions, yet, it has been
totally neglected in the syllabus of the Madarsa.
]
Aleem Khan Falaki presented the evidences from the writings
of Maulana Anwar Shah Kashmiri, Allama Iqbal and Maulana
Ashraf Ali Thanwi directing tow]ards establishing Shariya
courts. If impossible, they advised for establishing local
committees of minimum 5 respectable local persons to go and
work as arbiter. They warned that if the woman will not get
justice, she will revolt and will go to the extent of
marrying even with non-Muslims.
Aleem Khan Falaki pointed out that the "Nikahnama" (the
marriage agreement) itself is faulty. The word "AQD" implies
an agreement by the two parties on whatever is taken or
given. Since there was never a dowry, except Mahr in those
days, so there was nothing to write from the woman's side
what she is giving. Therefore, the Nikahnama had the
mentioning of only the Mehr's amount. But, the time has
changed now. The woman is compelled in the name of the
system to give a lot. Since the Muslim Personal Law permits
the woman to take back all those gifts given at the time of
marriage, there should be a clear mentioning of all those
gifts she is taking with her to the house of her husband.
But,the man today does not agree to sign the receipt of
these items as he is too clever and knows that there are
hundreds of parents who can pay huge dowry without taking a
receipt. So the woman is totally helpless. The Muslim
Personal Law Board must take action and draft a new
Nikahnama. It should also define clearly what is considered
as gift. The present day's dowry system is totally Haraam as
it is a bribe, begging, blackmailing and violation of
Quranic instructions as well as the way of the Prophet
(Pbuh).
]
Maslehuddin Ahmed presented an introduction of the honorable
guest, Advocate Osman Shaheed. Maslehuddin Ahmed is well
known in Jeddah for his religious as well as community
services. Maslehuddin stated that the Adv. Shaheed is not
only a successful and well known advocate in Hyderabad but
also a kind hearted person who has served hundreds of
helpless people for their education, marriages of poor girls
etc. He had been the Prosecutor General of Andhra Pradesh
High Court for 6 years.
]
Mr. Osman Shaheed expressed deep concern over the present
lawlessness among Muslims in the matters of Khula and Talaq.
He stated that even the Muslim lawyers in the courts
deliberately misquote holy Quran to win fake cases of Talaq
for their clients. He emphasized that the holy Quran is the
"Mother of all the charters" and all the present charters of
national and international humanitarian institutions are
extracted from Quran. He asserted that the real worship of
Allah is in having justice in the relations. He quoted
several examples from the Prophet's (Pbuh) life as to how he
treated his wives.
]
Regarding the Khula/Talaq situation, he offered a solution,
which was highly appreciated by the audience, that there is
a possibility of solving these issues without involving
courts and police. The Indian constitution itself grants the
right to solve disputes in accordance with Shariya. He said
there was no need to establish the separate Muslim Shariya
courts as whenever such attempts were made in the past, the
communal Hindu parties like RSS and BJP started the
propaganda that the Muslims were trying to create another
Pakistan.
]
He said that according to the Indian constitution, the two
parties i.e husband and wife, could appoint a person of
their choice who is called an "Arbitrator". No special
qualification is required to be an arbitrator. Anyone, who
is approved by both parties can become an arbitrator. Both
the parties must submit an "Affidavit" in the court that
they will honor the decision of the arbitrator even if he
goes against their wish. Whatever the Arbitrator will
decide, that decision will be endorsed by the court as
"Order of Law". The parties can get an "Execution order" too
from the court to implement the decision of the Arbitrator.
Since Mr. Osman Shaheed himself is running an Arbitration
office which is serving people free of cost, he gave his
telephone number to the audience to take his free legal
services in this regard.
]
Aleem Khan Falaki suggested that an Arbitration office be
established with a list of arbitrators consisting of
scholars and Mufties belonging to various schools of
thought. The conflicting parties can choose the scholars
according to their Maslak and beliefs. Let the people get
their disputes solved in our own offices instead of
non-Shariya courts.
The two and half hour's seminar concluded with the questions
and answers session. The prominent personalities of Jeddah
participated in this seminar. Among them were Shameem
Kausar, Syed Khaja Viqaruddin, Engr. Sayeeduddin, Engr.
Khalid, Dr. Sayeed Haroon and Hafez Sheikh Hussain.

Munawar Hasan Addresses Large Juma' Gathering
Jamaate Islami calls on newly elected rulers to reject US
pressure.
Urges Support for Iran, China and Pak Taliban.
2 reports from Anwar Sajjad.
LAHORE, May 24: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed
Munawar Hasan, has impressed upon the newly elected rulers
to go ahead with the gas pipeline project with Iran and also
hand over Gowadar port to China ignoring opposition from US
and India.
Addressing the Friday congregation at Mansoora mosque he
counseled PML(N) president Mian Nawaz Sharif to make serious
efforts for dialogue with the Taliban and expressed the hope
the armed forces wont oppose the idea. It had become
imperative to review the foreign policy and free it from
outside pressures in the interest of country's stability and
peace and national sovereignty, he added. The Pakistani
Taliban who had been angry because of Islamabad's support to
the US against Afghanistan Muslims, were our countrymen and
Muslim brothers and if we brought them on the table, they
would not hesitate, he added.
Syed Munawar Hasan said that suspending the Pak Iran gas
pipeline project under US pressure was not in national
interest as the energy crisis in the country had become
serious. If the Muslim brotherly country was willing to help
us in overcoming the energy shortage and was also ready to
bear its expenses, it would be most unwise to scrap the
project only to please Washington.
The JI Ameer said that the nation's expression of confidence
in Mian Nawaz Sharif also implied a heavy responsibility for
the PML(N) leader who was expected to break the yoke of US
slavery by abandoning Pervez Musharraf's policies. He
expressed the hope that Mian Sahib wont disappoint the
nation.
New rulers should seek support from women and all segments
of life to improve economy: Liaqat Baloch
LAHORE, May 24: Secretary General, Jamaat e, Islami, Liaqat
Baloch, has said that the newly elected rulers would have to
seek the cooperation of the country's traders and
businessmen, farmers, skilled youth, students and the women
folk to improve the country's economy and free the homeland
from IMF and World Bank pressure.
Addressing a businessmen's function in the city on Friday,
he said that the economy had been ruined due to corruption
and bad governance. The new government, he said, would have
the major challenge of reviving the country's economy.
He said that nature had blessed this country with unlimited
resources and the rulers would have to utilize these for
national develop ment and also eradicate corruption, and plug
all leakages.
The JI leader expressed deep grief over the martyrdom of
BalochistanConstabulary personnel in a terrorism attack in
Quetta. While welcoming the public mandate to the PML(NP and
the PTI, Liaqat Baloch said that the Election Commission
must immediately order fresh polls in Karachi and Hyderabad.
He said that the JI would carry on its mission of creating
an awakening amongthe masses for the change of the system
and the need for electing an honest, God fearingleadership
to realize the goal of a truly Islamic state.
Objective View of Dr. Siddique's Islamic Work in America:
From Husain Arif & Dan Berrett

Kaukab Siddique and Jamaat al-Muslimeen..
He then brings in Dan Berrett's article on Siddique's
comments on Zionism.]
"Salam o Rahmah
(Allah Khair karey!)
I had started to compose this Msg addressed to you on
FEBRUARY 23,
and kept saved in my 'Drafts' Folder. Then my illness
prevented me to
complete it. Now, with a slight feeling of awe, I venture to
replete & send
it to you.
I have seen & read many messages exchanged amongst the
learned
friends about two important but regrettable controversies.
The first one started with a remark, rather in a lighter
mood, passed by
Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed in one of his Msgs to Dr. Kaukab Siddique,
about
his (Dr. Kaukab's) Party [Jamaat al-Muslimeen - editor.].
That was perhaps just a slip of pen, and Dr. Mumtaz had even
retracted
it & expressed his regrets. But still, Dr. Kaukab's
reactions in his later
Msgs remained quite harsh.
It was most unfortunate that a few (much lesser in academic
& leadership
stature than the two gentlemen) jumped into the wagon, and
instead of
detracting the impact of their feeling of bitterness, they
fondly indulged
in heightening it. It is said in Urdu 'Nadaan Dost Say
Aqlmand Dushman
Behtar Hota Haiy'.
The second row started between you & Dr. Kaukab on the issue
of your
circulating pictures of a belly dance in a Pakistani
gathering Tokyo, and
this also resulted in some bitter exchange of messages
between yourself
& Dr. Kaukab.
I have been an admirer of your cool, amiable, & pleasant
disposition, as
well as your non-combatant, reconciliatory nature in matters
of intellectual
pursuit & argument.
So I am totally at a loss to understand how you could react
to Dr. Kaukab's
remarks in the way you did.
I do not know Dr. Kaukab Siddiq at all, but I know ' of him
' a lot, ever since
I had come to States in 1974.
I can tell you in all honesty & with the core of my heart,
that he is that very
rare & immensely courageous ' Islamist ' in the West who
undertook the
most daunting task of challenging the 'Zionists' almost in
their own homeland,
I mean, the State of Pennsylvania.
He seems to have put his life ' on the line ' for that
cause. That is neither a
small achievement nor a negligible service to the Cause of
Islam in the West.
The name of Dr. Kaukab Siddique, often times, reminds me of
the great
Muslim Leader in the West Dr. Ismail Raji Alfaruqui who was
assassinated
together with his wife, right in the same State where Dr.
Kaukab Siddique is
fighting for that same Cause. (May Allah protect him).
Later, in this message, I will tell you (rather quote to
you) what the Ultra-Right
News Media in the United States say about Dr. Kaukab
Siddique. You will,
then, perhaps, realise what a valuable asset he is to the
Islamic Cause in
the U.S.A.
In spite of that, I agree with friends when they say that he
has a razor-sharp
tongue which some times cuts through the friends & foes
alike, which is not
a good thing. But let me tell you that he is that way
because he is most
non-compromising on convictions. And that is the greatest
quality of a true
revolutionary. He should be respected for this quality.
By the way, recently in one of his messages, he labelled me
to be a 'Yazeed'
and not 'Husain', because I had openly criticised the
hyppocrites of the 'present'
Jamat-e-Islami leadership in Pakistan & its equally
hippocratic supporters. (I am
still religiously clinched to that standpoint).
Now read the following story from an American ultra-rightist
Newsletter dated
Oct 26, 2010 about Dr. Kaukab Siddique. His courage,
dedication, & intellectual/
academic stature must be honoured by every Islamist in the
West.

Academic Freedom and Holocaust Denial
October 26, 2010 - 3:00am
By
Dan Berrett
A Pennsylvania English professor whose anti-Israel rhetoric
and denial of the Holocaust
as a historic certainty have ignited controversy is citing
academic freedom as his defense.
Kaukab Siddique, associate professor of English and
journalism at Lincoln University of
Pennsylvania, appeared last month at a pro-Palestinian rally
in Washington, where he called
the state of Israel illegitimate. "I say to the Muslims,
'Dear brothers and sisters, unite and rise
up against this hydra-headed monster which calls itself
Zionism,' " he said at a rally on
Sept. 3. "Each one of us is their target and we must stand
united to defeat, to destroy, to
dismantle Israel -- if possible by peaceful means," he
added.
While many professors engage in anti-Israel rhetoric,
Siddique is getting more scrutiny
because his September comments prompted critics to unearth
past statements that the
Holocaust was a "hoax" intended to buttress support for
Israel -- a position that the professor
didn't dispute in an interview Monday with Inside Higher
Ed.
Siddique maintained that his comments should be placed in
the framework of academic
freedom, as an example of a questing mind asking tough
questions. He also warned of dire
consequences if universities can be intimidated by
politicians and outside commentators.
"That's freedom of expression going up the smokestack here,"
he said.
"I'm not an expert on the Holocaust. If I deny or support
it, it doesn't mean anything," he said
before invoking the firebombing of German cities during
World War II and the U.S. bombings
of Hiroshima and Nagasaki as examples of the moral ambiguity
of the war.
"We can't just sit back in judgment and say those guys were
bad and we were the good guys,"
he said. "I always try to look at both sides.... That's part
of being a professor."
Siddique cited as scholarly evidence the work of notorious
Holocaust denier David Irving,
whom a British judge described as an anti-Semitic neo-Nazi
sympathizer. "Irving has for his
own ideological reasons persistently and deliberately
misrepresented and manipulated
historical evidence," High Court Judge Charles Gray wrote in
a ruling shooting down Irving's
claim of libel against the historian Deborah Lipstadt of
Emory University.
The Siddique case isn't the first one in which a tenured
academic has been criticized for
questioning whether the Holocaust happened. Northwestern
University periodically faces
debate over Arthur R. Butz, an associate professor of
electrical engineering who is a
Holocaust denier, but who has avoided the topic in his
classes.
Siddique's embrace of Holocaust denial could be treated
differently because of what he
teaches. Cary Nelson, president of the American Association
of University Professors and a
staunch defender of the right of professors to take highly
unpopular positions, said that
academic freedom protects the professor's right to criticize
both Israeli policy and the moral
legitimacy of the Israeli state. Holocaust denial is another
matter entirely, said Nelson.
"Were he an engineering professor speaking off campus, it
wouldn't matter," said Nelson
in an e-mail. "The issue is whether his views call into
question his professional competence.
If he teaches modern literature, which includes Holocaust
literature from a great many
countries, then Holocaust denial could warrant a competency
hearing."
Siddique's anti-Israel comments were first seized upon by
conservative Christian
commentators; links to video of his remarks at the rally
appeared on Pat Robertson's
Christian Broadcasting Network. Siddique said the firestorm
that has erupted has been
stoked by allies of Israel, and he says his criticisms of
the nation are no more harsh than
those espoused by President Carter.
"This is actually a concerted act by the extreme right wing
aligned with Israel to destroy
someone who spoke out against them," said Siddique.
He said he had received hateful e-mails and phone calls
every day since the controversy
broke. Some simply bore four-letter words. Others threatened
death. "I see this as a
tremendous dumbing down of the discourse," he said.
Siddique's statements also prompted a letter from two
Pennsylvania state Senators last
week who questioned whether the professor had expressed
these views in class and what
steps were being taken to prevent him from doing so.
Both Siddique and the university said he had never broached
the subject in class.
Lincoln University sought to distance itself from the
professor's comments, calling them
"offensive" in a prepared statement, and adding that his
"personal views and expressed
comments do not represent Lincoln University."
Lincoln is a historically black college that is about 45
miles southwest of Philadelphia.
It is one of Pennsylvania's state-affiliated institutions.
In the current budget year, Lincoln
is receiving more than $13 million in operating money from
Pennsylvania, according to the
state budget.
The letter from the senators follows a resolution introduced
in the state Senate in April
that condemns what it calls the resurgence of anti-Semitism
on college and university
campuses. The resolution calls upon the state's education
agencies to "remain vigilant
and guarded against acts of anti-Semitism against college
and university students,"
though it recommends no sanctions for those who fail to do
so.
State Senator Anthony Williams, who is one of the two who
wrote to Lincoln, and who
sponsored the resolution, took to the floor of the senate in
April to speak on its behalf.
"I come from a community that has felt the sting of
oppression and discrimination," said
Williams, who is black. "To see that anti-Semitic feelings
have evolved in this country on
college campuses is not only paradoxical, but it is an
oxymoron. It is absolutely polar to
the example that universities should be establishing and
setting across this great country."
War News 1
Afghanistan: May 2013: Taliban raiders in classic guerrilla
style attacks have killed 24 NATO troops so far in May.
Of these 6 were British, 3 Georgians and 15 Americans.
Two martyrdom operations were launched by the Taliban on May
24, one in Kabul and one in Ghazni. The explosions were very
large and caused heavy casualties among Karazai's people.
Karazai has adopted a new tactic: to minimize or not mention
its losses but keeping foreign journalists away.
[In London, a British soldier was killed by a Nigerian
Muslim using a cleaver and a kitchen knife. The Brits are
very disturbed but they refuse to discuss their occupation
of Afghanistan and the torture and killings they inflicted
on the people of Basra, Iraq.
The six troops recently killed in Afghanistan have received
scant connection. The battles they were killed in have not
been publicized. The extra large tanks being used by the
Brits, especially built for the occupation of Afghanistan
are not publicized either. As we reported, one of these huge
tanks was blown up by the Taliban earlier in May.]
War New 2
May 19-25: Hizbullah forces helping Assad beaten back with
heavy losses by al-Nusra mujahideen.
After a week of heavy fighting, Qusair remains in the hands
of the Islamic forces, al-Nusra. The Syrian troops tried an
enveloping movement with the help of the Shi'ite forces
coming in from Lebanon. They captured the villages
surrounding Qusair but met stiff resistance in Qusair
itself. Mujahideen of 8 different groups rushed from Homs to
help the defenders in Qusair. For the time being, Hizbullah
has had a setback but it is bringing in large reinforcements
from Lebanon. Assad's air force and artillery pounding
Qusair and Islamic losses are quite serious though details
are unknown. Assad is also using missiles against the
defenders. [The funerals in Lebanon show that Hibullah
received unexpectedly heavy losses.
Iranians are also helping Assad but have clarified that they
don't have troops in the battle.
Qusair is important because this is Assad's flight route
from Damascus to the Alawite enclaves on the sea coast.
Also, if Assad wins this one, he can send his tanks to
re-take Homs and can block weapons and supplies for al-Nusra
coming in from pro-mujahideen groups in Lebanon. This is the
major supply route for the mujahideen after Turkey got cold
feet.
Hookup between East & West Against Syrian Mujahideen.
Russia is re-supplying Assad big time. Iran is sending
supplies and perhaps weapons too. America is refusing to
supply even the
secular Free Syrian Army [FSA] and has placed al-Nusra on
its list of terrorists. Moves are underway to save the Assad
regime if Assad agrees to "reforms" and the FSA relents.
Jewish groups in America have expressed serious reservations
against the
mujahideen groups. McCain has been crying out that the
secular FSA should be armed to counter al-Nusra.
War News 3
Nigeria: More than 2,000 heavily armed Nigerian troops moved
into the areas around Maiduguri [north east Nigeria] and
destroyed the hospital and relief installations set up by
Boko Haram.
There have been no Boko Haram losses but the troops have
killed scores of civilians [65 according to the Nigerians]
The mujahideen evaded the heavily armed troops and are
waiting to strike back.
War News 4
Niger: May 23: A new Islamic movement said to be inspired by
Shaykh Osama hit the military barracks of the Niger army in
the town of Agadez. The barracks were wiped out and at least
20 Niger troops killed according to officials.
In a second attack the same day, these African mujahideen
blew up the French-owned uranium mine. Heavy losses but
cdetails not available yet.
[Niger's uranium is owned by the French and Niger's forces
are helping the French occupation of Mali.
[Considering the growing cost of the occupation, France is
steadily withdrawing from Mali.]
War News 5
There is an uprising all over western and most of northern
Iraq. The Baghdad regime massacred protestors in Hawija
which further inflamed the situation. After that attacks
were launched on Sunni mosques probably by the regime to
terrorize the population but this also had the opposite
effect.
Huge rally in Fallujah, Iraq, against US-installed regime
in Baghdad shows Al-Qaida flags mixing with flags of the
Saddamist movement. [Black flags emerging from the east for
Islamic victory were prophesied by Muhammad, pbuh.]
