On May 23 and 24, the editor of New Trend interviewed a Palestinian-American woman, Laila Yaghi, in Raleigh, North Carolina [about 381 miles south-south-west of Baltimore, Maryland].

Here are the facts of the case:
  1. Laila is an all American woman, born of a father of Palestinian origin and a White American woman in Montana, a state which is the epitome of middle America. She sees herself as a Muslim in a conventional way, and looks like any decent American woman.

  2. Her torment and suffering is a clear sign that the oppression of Muslims in America has reached new levels. After imprisoning scholars and leaders like Imam Jamil, Dr. Aafia and Dr. Omar Abdel Rahman, after putting away community activists and non-violent critics like Ahmed Abdel Sattar and Ali Timimi, after silencing sympathizers of overseas Muslims, totally peaceful like Masoud Khan, Imam Abu Toubah and Dr. Kifah al-Jayyousi and putting them in little cells, after trapping angry young men totally unconnected to terrorism like the Muslims in Newburgh, NY, the government is now going after ordinary Muslims who do not have the slightest potential for opposition.

  3. Ziyad is not connected to any "terrorist" or Islamic organization, here or abroad.

  4. He did not have any weapon.

  5. He did not carry out or try to carry out any terrorist act.

  6. He started going to the mosque and became interested in living like a Muslim.

  7. He became friends with a young man of Egyptian origin named Omar Hassan who introduced him to the two sons of an American Muslim named Boyd who talked loudly about jihad but was nothing more than an angry man. The government arrested Boyd and his sons and wanted Ziyad Yaghi to testify against him. Ziyad did not know of any violent acts attributed to the Boyds and did not want to be a liar and refused.

  8. The government then arrested Ziyad and pressured Boyd to testify against him in return for Boyd and his sons getting light sentences. Boyd obliged and is still in government custody perhaps to be used further in this nefarious process.

  9. Ziyad was held for two years and three months in prison before the trial. The government used this time to fabricate a case against him.

  10. The whole case was staged. Even the arrest was a drama. A swat team was sent to arrest him as if he is a dangerous "terrorist."

  11. The government sent its agents into the Muslim community and sub poenas were issued to many Muslims and to all of Ziyad's acquaintances, thus preventing them from appearing in court to support him.

  12. The trial was held in New Bern, about two and a half hour drive from Raleigh, to make it very difficult to go to the court and show support for Ziyad. Only a few determined Pakistanis turned up.

  13. The trial was held on September 22, only 11 days after the anniversary of the 9.11 attacks which had the public stirred up against Muslims.

  14. The media demonized Ziyad as if he really is a terrorist. The media were so ill informed that they referred to Laila, Ziyad's mom, as Boyd's wife and sometimes even as Ziyad's wife! FOX TV was the worst.

  15. The trial was ridiculous beyond all limits. The government claimed that during his trip to Palestine, where he was denied entry by the occupiers, his references on the phone to the search for a "bride" were a code word for Jihad!

  16. Ziyad was sentenced in January 2012 and imprisoned in an SHU [Special Housing Unit] where he is in solitary confinement for 23 out of every 24 hours.

Laila Yaghi needs your support. Don't let her down. Form a support group for her son, write to him, help her in every way you can so that this tragic episode may end. Perhaps the government may realize its colossal error.
Remember that it is quite legal to help the families of prisoners. Put fear out of your hearts. Fear Allah!

Reaching out to 700 plus Arab Americans

On May 25, Br. Kaukab Siddique gave the juma' khutba at the Islamic Center of the Triad in Greensboro, North Carolina [about 400 miles south west of Baltimore, Maryland]. Owing to the efforts of Imam Badi Ali [Palestinian] and other promient Muslims in the area, the community in Greensboro has become an island of Islamic values, reaching out with compassion and love to people of all faiths. Most of the 700 plus people who attended were from Sudan, Somalia, Niger, Egypt, Iraq, Morocco, Palestine and Jordan. The number of Pakistanis and Indians here has grown and there are also "white" converts to Islam.
The main points of Br. Siddique's khutba, very well received, were as follows:

Text #1: "We sent Lut [Lot] who said to his people: Do ye commit brazen obscenity such as no people in creation committed before you! For you practice your sexual drives on men in preference to women: you are indeed a people transgressing beyond limits." Lot's people adamantly replied : 'Drive them out of your city: these are indeed people who want to be clean and pure." ...[The Qur'an 7:80-82]

Text #2: One who supports an oppressor and provides him power though he knows that one is an oppressor, surely such a one has gone out of Islam. [Hadith of Muhammad, pbuh, narrated by Aus ibn Shurajeel, r.a., in the collection Mishkat al-Masabih.]
  1. The criterion of what is right and what is wrong has been revealed by Allah in the Qur'an. No one can change it.

  2. We have the Sunnah and the Shar'iah from Muhammad, pbuh. No one has the right to alter that.

  3. Neither Christianity nor Judaism or Hinduism have either Sunnah or Shariah. Hence Islam is the only religion which can be applied to modern times in sacred terms and not be someone's opinion.

  4. For decades the media, corporate and Zionist, have been been spreading the culture of paganism, so that many Americans now do not know what is right and what is wrong.

  10. Now comes the "icing on the cake." The Obama regime has declared that it supports homosexual marriage. The homos are not content with sexually using each other but want to "marry" each other, male to male, female to female.

  11. Dear Muslims, only Islam can save this country from the tentacles of Zion which have grabbed America by the throat.

  12. The Qur'an has made it clear that Homosexuality has absolutely no place in Islam. An imam who gives the khutba stands at the mimbar of the Rasool, pbuh, and must speak the truth about homosexuality and the fitna of mass culture, or leave the position of imam.

  13. Do not get into the trap of democrat vs republican politics. Notice that Romney cannot condemn homosexuality. All he can say is that marriage is between a man and a woman.

  14. The new homosexual offensive will affect people of Islam too, not just Christians. The way the regime is going, if you have an adoption agency and do not accept adoption by homos, you'll be closed down. If you run a hospital, a scout troop or any other organization, you will be closed down if you do not accept homosexulaity as legitimate.

  15. I know that North Carolina has denied homosexual legitimacy. Yesterday, Catholics, other Christians and Mormons held a day long conference in which they expressed their deep sorrow at Obama's offensive, but none of them could denounce homosexuality.

  16. As Maulana Maudoodi taught, victory is only possible if you are a movement, working either through or around obstacles. If you are not a movement [ tehreek] but a closed-in defense mechanism, like a rock in a river, the rock will be swept away in the river once its underlay has been eroded.

  17. Islam is emerging as a global force, the only force opposing multinational corporations, international Zionism and imperialism. Look at Pakistan. It has blocked the supply lines of the biggest Anglo American military in recent history. NATO is set to be defeated in Afghanistan.

  18. Do not be afraid. You have the right to use all non-violent means to oppose the yahood and the webs of deception they have weaved in this very country. Tell your children that mass media is using all its resources to legitimize haram such as fornication, adultery, liquor, gambling and homosexuality.

ICNA Trying to Follow the Lead of Jamaat al-Muslimeen on opposing Homosexuality

On May 26, ICNA issued a statement, very tepid, pointing out that Islam does not support homosexuality. Presidential candidate Mitt Romney's statement was almost like ICNA's! The May 26 statement is dated May 11. Quite clever!

On May 11, Kaukab Siddique, in a Juma' khutba, denounced the Obama "Gay Marriage" initiative. The khutba was posted on May 14 on our web site.
Then on May 20, New Trend published Dr. Javed Jamil's extensive analysis of homosexuality in the US and Canada,
Then on May 25, Siddique gave a second khutba denouncing the homosexual initiative.

By now ICNA has realized that it is losing whatever little Islamic legitimacy it has left. Hence the statement.

May 21: A martyrdom operator attacked a Yemeni military rehearsal in the capital San'a. The explosion was massive and wiped out an entire US-Saudi backed unit killing 100 troops and wounding 311.

May 21-24: In coordination with US-Yemeni-Saudi aircraft, Yemeni forces captured a key position in the city of Lawdar after heavy fighting in which 40 troops and 60 Islamics were killed. Troops are also attacking the Islamic-held city of Jaar. Meanwhile, key al-Qaida leader al-Qusi was buried after burial services in which his family accused Yemeni-Saudi-US coordination in his killing.

Tunisia
Demonstrations were held in the town of Jenouba to close down the liquor stores. Military came out to stop the rallies.

Syria: A Massacre to outdo all Massacres

May 25: After facing resistance in the village of Houla, north of Homs, Assad sent in heavy artillery to shell the homes of the Muslim people. At least 80 people have been killed, including scores of women and children. The shelling continued for 18 hours. Videos of the mangled bodies have come out.
Protests against Assad were held after Friday prayers in all the cities but were dispersed.

May 27: NATO's supply routes through Pakistan remani blocked five weeks after the secular regime in Islamabad decided to open them.

Students of strategy say that if Pakistan had a Khalid ibn al-Waleed, r.a., it would send its troops into Afghanistan to attack NATO. If the entire NATO force were wiped out or captured, the crusaders would never return to the Islamic lands. Pakistan has enough nuclear bombs to stop India attacking from the east.

Drone Attack on Mosque: 10 killed during Fajr prayers

May 24: In the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan, a US drone hit a village mosque with two missiles, killing 10 people who were in the middle of fajr prayers and wounding 6 others. Those killed are reported to be Punjabi Taliban. [This was censored by overseas Dawn but was reported by MSNBC and British Channel 4].

On May 23, there was another drone attack which killed 4 Muslims in North Waziristan.

The Case of Masoud Khan: Given 99 Years in Prison to please India

In 2001 Masoud was invited to a dinner by an acquaintance and there met a group of young Muslims who attended a mosque in Falls Church, Virginia. This group played recreational paintball in the woods, went to a target practice range and fired legally-owned firearms, and discussed international politics and the obligations of Muslims to defend their faith. Masoud played the game of paintball only once and never was a part of their group. He was a newly wed and he and his wife were living with his mother in Maryland. In August 2001 Masoud received a court order to appear at the High Court in Karachi, Pakistan with the original Succession Certificate (heirship paper) regarding his father's estate. He applied for a visit visa from the Embassy of Pakistan which approved the visa on the basis of this court order and he flew there in late September 2001. After attending the first court hearing, he had several weeks free and toured a LET training camp, which focused on liberating Kashmir from India, but he never joined the group, never planned any violent activity or attacked anyone, and at the time LET was not considered a terrorist organization by the U.S. In early December he returned to America, his job and his family.

In 2003 Masoud was arrested and charged not with terrorism but for conspiracy to violate the Neutrality Acts--obscure, longstanding, rarely enforced laws that make it a crime for Americans to attack a country (in this case, India) with which the United States is at peace. Essentially Masoud was charged for associating with people who were "conspiring to conspire"--planning to make a plan--although in a Washington Post article, the agent in charge of the Washington FBI field office conceded that the government had no evidence of specific plots against U.S. targets at home or abroad, and said that "a lot of this is about preemption." At the time of his arrest, other Muslims from the Virginia paintball group were arrested; some issued pleas; two were released; but Masoud insisted he was innocent of all charges.

The government then brought new conspiracy charges against Masoud--for planning to aid the Taliban and al-Qaeda, not LET, although there was no evidence of this. He was unable to testify in his own behalf at trial. Convicted and sentenced to life without parole, Masoud said, "I am an American citizen, born in this country, and will always maintain my innocence of conspiring and intending to bring any harm upon the American people." At his sentencing the U.S. District Judge stated that she had no choice under the law but to impose consecutive prison terms on Khan, resulting in the lengthy prison terms. Typically, defendants serve concurrent terms. She continued: "I have sentenced al-Qaida members who were planning real attacks on these shores for far less time ... and I have to tell you that this is sticking in my craw". At resentencing, the charge of planning to aid Al-Qaeda was dropped and his sentence was reduced by a mere 20 years. His Petition for Habeas Corpus was denied and his appeal was also not permitted to be heard.

During tyrant Mubarak's rule, for 30 years, Coptic Christians were with the tyrant and helped him to oppress the Muslim majority. Can you imagine a Muslim country where Islam was not allowed at the political level? The Copts supported Mubarak in that era of oppression. Mosques were attacked by Mubarak, Muslims tortured, their women threatened with rape, in some cases actually raped. [Anne Weaver has written a whole book on the oppression.]
Large Coptic churches were established in high density Muslim areas. The Copts enjoyed it.
They did not realize that Mubarak was using them. All dictators in Muslim countries use this tactic. They need someone to humiliate, torture and kill Muslims and desecrate their holy places, and the non-Muslim minorities fit the bill.
The Coptics, and for that matter America, did not think that Mubarak would ever be overthrown.
Check the glaring contradiction in the WP story. The Copts are supporting Mubarak's men even now.
They are so bold that about a year and a half back, the Copts kidnapped two of their chiefs' daughters who had embraced Islam. The women disappeared.
Neither the Salafis nor the Muslim Brotherhood hate the Copts. The conflicts appear at the local level where Muslims are the oppressed. WP is whipping up unnecessary suspicion against the Muslims. Unfortunately, the Copts have media support in both the US and Europe and have been trying, ever since Mubarak fell, to smear the Islamic groups. The Islamics have no media support in the US [except New Trend].

On Oct. 28, Aimee Whitchurch, 37, and Christel Conklin, 29, called police and reported the words "Kill the Gay" were scrawled in red spray paint on the garage door of their Parker, Colo., home.
The next day, the couple told deputies they found a noose hanging on the handle of their front door.
The women told officers they believed the incidents were retaliation from their neighbors and homeowner's association, who had complained the couple did not pick up after their dogs.
Due to the nature of the crimes, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office worked in tandem with the FBI to investigate. After reviewing witness statements, authorities determined Whitchurch and Conklin had staged the incidents.
Both women are charged with criminal mischief and false reporting. Whitchurch faces an additional charge of forgery.
She told ABC's Denver affiliate KMGH-TV police were mistaken and vowed to fight the charges.
"This is a fight I started. This is a fight I'm going to finish. This is a fight I'm right on," she said. "I have every right to live where I want to live."

Islamic Coalition Called for Street Corner Rallies to keep the NATO Supply Routes Closed. There was a Jamaate Islami protest in front of Memon Masjid, Boulton Market [Karachi]. It was addressed by Muhammad Husain Mehnati, JI's Karachi ameer, urging the protestors to stand firm and persistent. One of the Urdu language placards called for an end to drone attacks.

Similar street corner rallies were held in every major city.


A Zionist Smear: The ADL Attacks an Islamic Peace Conference

The Anti-Defamation League is a master of deceit. A good example is the recent ADL blast against a conference in suburban Baltimore on August 16, 2008, where I was a speaker. Dedicated to peace and cross-cultural understanding, the meeting was organized by Jamaat al-Muslimeen, a local Islamic group.
The ADL, one of the world's most influential Jewish-Zionist organizations, calls it a gathering of "Far Right and Muslim Extremists" who found "common cause in their hatred of Jews and Israel." (http://www.adl.org/main_Anti_Israel/jamaat_baltimore_confernce.htm)
In fact, the conference brought together men and women of diverse religious and racial backgrounds, and a range of political views, who were united by devotion to peace and justice.
Contrary to what the ADL suggests, no conference speaker expressed hated of Jews. Instead, speaker after speaker emphasized the importance of promoting justice, peace and cross-cultural understanding. Ramsey Clark - a prominent peace activist who served as US Attorney General in the Johnson administration -- spoke eloquently about the need for understanding between Christians and Muslims, and the dangers of an arrogant and militaristic US foreign policy. He movingly stressed the importance of justice even for the vilified and the powerless. Chuck Carlson, a Christian activist, spoke about his campaign to persuade churches to embrace the authentic Christian message of peace.
In my talk, I spoke in some detail about the dangerous consequences of the US alliance with Israel and of the Jewish-Zionist grip on American political and cultural life. I concluded with a call for awareness and unity for the sake of humankind. (http://www.ihr.org/other/aug08weber.html)
After explicitly speaking against "hate," I emphasized: "We should not, and we do not, wish harm to any individual because of his or her ancestry, ethnic background, religion or privately held beliefs."
According to the ADL, "Weber told the audience that not only was the Iraq war the result of `Jewish cabal,' but that the same `Jewish cabal' is currently pushing for war with Iran." In fact, my only mention of a "Jewish cabal" was when I cited remarks of a prominent Labour Party member of the British parliament, who said in May 2003: "A Jewish cabal have taken over the government in the United States and formed an unholy alliance with fundamentalist Christians ... There is far too much Jewish influence in the United States."
As it has on many other occasions, the ADL once again described the IHR as a "Holocaust denial organization." But as the IHR website explains (http://www.ihr.org/main/about.shtml ), this smear is "completely at variance with the facts... Every responsible scholar of twentieth century history acknowledges the great catastrophe that befell European Jewry during World War II."
In my talk, my only mention of the deaths of Jews during the Second World War was a single ten-word sentence I quoted from a speech by Malaysia president Mahathir Mohammed: "The Europeans killed six million Jews out of twelve million."
Is that what the ADL means by "Holocaust denial"?
Conference speakers, the ADL charges, were "well-known anti-Semites" and "prominent domestic extremists." For the ADL and its allies, of course, an "anti-Semite" is anyone who speaks forthrightly about Israel's inhumane and illegal policies, or the harmful role of the organized Jewish community in political and cultural life. As one witty commentator has put it, "An anti-Semite used to be someone who hates Jews. Now, it's someone whom Jews hate."
Only by the distorted standards of the ADL and its allies can the conference speakers be considered "extremists." In fact, the basic views and values presented at the meeting -- for peace, justice, and unity against war and oppression - are supported by the vast majority of people of good will around the world.
The ADL claims to "counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry." In fact, the group routinely defends institutionalized discrimination of non-Jews by Israel, as well as the Zionist state's routine violations of human rights and international law.
As I explained in my talk, it's the ADL and its allies who are "extreme" and out of step with world opinion. But the ADL's minority view is not surprising, given its arrogantly ethno-centric mindset. This outlook was candidly spelled out by ADL National Director Abraham Foxman in an essay published in the group's monthly newsletter. He wrote: "...The Holocaust is something different. It is a singular event. It is not simply one example of genocide but a near successful attempt on the life of God's chosen children and, thus, on God himself."
The ADL attack against the Baltimore peace conference is understandable, because Zionists fear the growing unity and sense of common purpose by people of diverse political and religious views who understand the Jewish-Zionist agenda and what it means for humanity. Given the ADL's track record of malice and deceit, this latest attack is a badge of honor

KARACHI: Jamaat-e Islami (JI) Pakistan Chief and Difa-e Pakistan Council (DPC) Central Leader Syed Munawwar Hassan has warned that any attempt to restore supply line of NATO through Pakistani soil would never bear fruit and the DPC would never allow to happen this evil. The United States of America wanted to convert the country as unprotected land and to carry out sabotage activities as it did in Silala.
"We are ready to pay for any price but would not allow US and NATO to get reinforcement through the country".
This he said while addressing a press briefing after an important DPC leader meeting held Saturday at Idara-e Noor-e Haq.
The present rulers were pushing the entire nation to wall and endorsing the wicked US and NATO to continue with the genocide of the Muslims of the region, he said adding that on May 27, the DPC would convene a grand workers convention at New MA Jinnah Road near Islamia College and on June 1, token sit-in would be staged at all divisional headquarters. The DPC leaders would carve out the pros and cons of the long march on June 5.
The press briefing was also addressed by Ameer Jamat-ud-dawa Prof. hafiz Muhammad Saeed. JI Secretary General Liaquat Baloch, JI Sindh Ameer Asadullah Bhutto, JI Karachi Ameer Muhammad Hussain Mahenti, Awami Muslim League President Shaikh Rasheed Ahmed, Jamiat Ulema Islam-S leader Mufti Usman Yar Khan, Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Allama Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, Ansar Al Umma leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman Khalil, Tehreek-e Difa-e Pakistan leader Zahid Bakhtawari, Jamat-ud-dawa leader Ameer Hamza and Maulana Yar Muhammad Khan were present.
JI Chief also expressed his deep concern on firing incident on a rally that was produced by Sindhi nationalists in the city.
While commenting on the incident of firing incident on a passenger bus in Benazirabad, he said that the government had failed to protect people's lives and the law enforcement agencies had also failed to play their role in this regard. The government had lost moral reasoning for staying in power.
He said that the religious seminary in Akoora Khattak under the auspices of Maulana Samiul Haq was targeted by the government.
He said that the DPC had decided to produce a LONG MARCH, which details would be finalized in a meeting with DPC leaders at Akoora Khattak on June 5. On May 27, workers convention would be held at New MA Jinnah Road, which would be addressed by DPC eminent leaders.
He said that DPC parties believed in the supremacy of law and all its programmes would be within the framework of the constitution of the country. He said that all the parties in DPC were absolutely peace-loving and would ensure all of its activities would be carried out peacefully.
Speaking on the occasion, Hafiz Saeed said that the LONG MARCH was only postponed earlier because the leaders of the parties in DPC had decided to use that tool on an appropriate occasion. He said that it was not only the United State but also India was also interfering in country and was equally involved in activities for desatbilising the country.
He said that Pakistan would never be allowed to become an Indian market because Pakistan was a sovereign state.
