Radio Program on Urination Video & Iran Assassination
White Supremacists Cannot Stand Resistance by Poorly armed
"illiterate" Afghans
On January 14, 2012 Dr. Wilmer Leon, a distinguished African
American intellectual, led a discussion on XM Radio's
"Inside the Issues" program. Prolific writer Dilip Hiro, of
Indian origin, [living in London] and Lincoln University
professor Dr. Kaukab Siddique were "on" live with Dr. Leon
for half an hour. Here are a couple of points Dr. Siddique
made:
-
The video of US marines urinating on dead Taliban
fighters is an exhibition of racism and White Supremacy. The
marines, America's best troops, cannot "stand" the fact that
a people whom they see as inferior are standing up to them.

-
US police violence against Americans, especially the poor
and the Black, is a regular occurrence in American cities.
Police atrocities are common. Put uniforms on White
Supremacists , give them the latest weapons, and send them
to Muslim lands, and you have Abu Ghraib and Lindi England,
and Gtmo, and Bagram with the woman wailing [Dr. Afia?], and
now the urination video. This disclosure is the tip of the
iceberg of horrors.

-
Iran is facing terrorist acts [has been since the
revolution]. Defense Secretary Panetta says that "we" will
never allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon but claims, "we"
did not kill the professor! The motivation is there, the
ability is there, so who will believe Panetta?

[Dilip Hiro rigorously condemned the urination episode and
the assassination of the Iranian professor. The US and
Israel are carrying out covert war against Iran, he said.]

Indian Agents Ruling Bangladesh Strike at Most Venerable
Bengali Islamic Leader
On January 11, 2012, Prof. Golam Azam, 89 years old, in a
wheel chair, was sent to prison by the puppet regime in
Dhaka supported by India. A man who has served humanity and
Islam for six decades is being treated as a mass murderer!
[at a time when India is keeping an open border with
Bangladesh to loot the country's wealth]. People came out in
the streets after Golam Azam's arrest and several hundred of
them were arrested.
Dilawar Sayedee and other Islamic leaders are also in
Bangladeshi prisons on weird charges fabricated by the
pro-india regime in Dhaka.
Forty years back, there was a civil war in East Pakistan
[now Bangladesh] which was used by India to invade East
Pakistan and install a secular regime. Islamic people were
specially targeted by Mukti Bahini, a terrorist organization
armed and backed by India's army. Since then India has
consistently tried to prevent Islam from becoming a force.
This disruption has led to great poverty and large numbers
of people have left. More than 500,000 Bengali speaking
people have taken refuge in Karachi, Pakistan, 1,000 miles
away from Bangladesh.
Please write or call the Bangladesh embassy in Washington to
urge an end to the persecution of Islamic dissidents in
Bangladesh.

Very encouraging: America's conscience is still alive. On
January 11, there was a rally at the White House against the
continuing horrors of Guantanamo Bay and against President
Obama's new assault on Muslims' rights, the indefinite
detention law. Thirty seven people were arrested, all
non-Muslims. May Allah reward them.

Newt Gingrich: Strange coincidence or is he connected to the
terrorist attack in Iran which killed an Iranian professor?
On November 12, 2011 Republican presidential candidate Newt
Gingrich stated flat out that Iran's scientists should be
killed. On January 6, Gingrich's campaign received
$5,000,000 from Adelson, an American Jew who is a close
friend of Israeli terrorist Netanyahoo and owns a casino in
Las Vegas. On January 11, Iranian professor Mostafa was
assassinated.
We document below Gingrich's murder call and the money his
campaign has received from Adelson.

Shock waves are going through the Muslim world owing to the
video of brutal US marines, America's best soldiers,
urinating on dead Taliban's bodies. [New Trend has received
the unedited video.] Ms. Hillary Clinton and the entire
corporate media machine went into action to claim that this
violation of decency is not part of American military
values. Probably Ms. Clinton has never read about what US
troops did to German cities and German women at the end of
World War II.
However, Sis. Nadrat shows us that there is a clear line of
continuity in US military actions from the past to the
present. She sent it before the urination episode. Please

Islam is the Only Religion which Banned Slavery
Question: You quoted the Hadith: "Allah said, 'I will be an
opponent to three types of people on the Day of
Resurrection: 1. One who makes a covenant in My Name, but
proves treacherous; 2. One who enslaves a free person and
eats his price;................"
What does the second part mean? [Shoaib, Qatar, Middle East]
Answer by Kaukab Siddique:
Islam banned slavery from day one. It is the only religion
which did so. "One who enslaves a free person..." means no
new steps to enslave anyone will be allowed. Allah Almighty
takes personal responsibility for opposing such a person in
the Hereafter.
However, there were already many slaves in Arabian society
from the Age of Ignorance when the Prophet, pbuh, began his
mission. There are numerous hadith which mention these
EXISTING slaves and teaches various ways of freeing them
without a total disruption of society. Those who do not
understand hadith think that hadith is taking slavery as a
given.
In some hadith books, narrations which are not from the
Prophet, pbuh, and which support slavery have been included.
The Muwatta of Imam Malik is one such book full of
non-Islamic ideas from the era of Kingship.
The following Islamic texts are decisive against slavery:
-
"Free the Slave." [Chapter 90 of the Qur'an]. "Allah does
not accept the prayers of one who enslaves people." [Sahih
Bukhari]. Some funds are set aside in the treasury of the
Islamic state to free captives. [The Qur'an Chapter 2] All
prisoners of war are to be well treated and freed once the
battle is decisively over. [The Qur'an, chapter 47.] Female
captives of war, for the first time in history, were freed
by the Prophet, pbuh, through marriage. [See my book Women
in Hadith Narratives.]

-
In our own times, entire nations are being enslaved by
Zionism and Imperialism. The re-colonization of Africa is a
form of slavery.

-
There is a global "trade" in the prostitution of women and
children. Only Islamic revolution can free them. Consumerism
turns women into prostitutes owing to male tyranny, as does
extreme poverty.

Personal from the Editor of New Trend
Meet my sister: Like a Lily growing from the muddy waters of
Sorrow
She prays. She fasts. She reads the Qur'an. She studies
Hadith. She listens to Farhat Hashmi's Tafseer on the web.
She tells people what the Qur'an or the Prophet, pbuh, say
on any issue of concern.
It's difficult to debate with her or counter her because she
is also highly educated in western sciences. In fact she is
a neurologist!
I thought about why she shakes and disturbs some people so
much and inspires others. I think I have finally understood.
We are so used to banal, everyday, issues that someone who
teaches by the Qur'an and Hadith, comes across as
disturbing, even self-righteous. She is in fact very humble
and compassionate but we really do not meet people who
follow Islam in every moment of their lives. Usually we
think of semi-educated mullas as people who "push" Islam on
others, so we can't deal with a WOMAN, who is highly
educated and wants us to benefit from the nourishing truths
of Islam.
She was a beautiful, westernized, Pakistani-style woman. She
is still beautiful [no proposals please! She is married],
very beautiful, but she is stunning now in hijab. People
move out of her way and behave as if she has just arrived
from Arabia. [In fact sometimes she has.]
I wonder why she is too complex for me. Is it that people
who actually study Islam and try to live it every day are so
rare today? She is constantly GIVING of herself: her time,
her resources, her feelings, her knowledge. Is it that many
men don't want to admit that a woman knows more Islam than
they do? Or is it, that we can sense the spiritual aura she
has, the sorrow for suffering humanity, the hope that GOOD
will prevail?
Latest Khutba
How did the Prophet, pbuh, destroy Racism in the Model
Islamic Community?
The Virtues of Bilal, the African, Salman, the Persian,
Suhaib, the European, Ayesha, the Makkan [r.a. for all 4]
On January 13, 2012, Dr. Kaukab Siddique spoke against
racism at a mosque in central Baltimore. Dr. Siddique had
fallen down [running across a muddy, grassy knoll, and hurt
his leg earlier in the day. The mosque was packed with
worshippers, and they showed so much love and care for Dr.
Siddique when they saw him limping, that he was surprised!
Here is a summary of a couple of his khutba's main points:
Text: Suhaib, r.a., reported that Allah's Messenger (may
peace be upon him) said: Strange are the ways of a believer
for there is good in every affair of his and this is not the
case with anyone else except in the case of a believer for
if he has an occasion to feel delight, he thanks (God), thus
there is a good for him in it, and if he gets into trouble
and shows resignation (and endures it patiently), there is a
good for him in it. (Sahih Muslim, Book #042, Hadith #7138)
-
Muhammad, pbuh, deestroyed racism in his community
through marriage. He married 14 women and thus brought a
great variety of tribes, including those of his worst
enemies, into the ummah of Islam.

-
Marriage can spread Islam rapidly in America if it is
done for deen, not for beauty, wealth or race, as is clearly
commanded in a hadith narrated by Abu Huraira, r.a.

-
Racially diverse people were encouraged by the Prophet,
pbuh, to rise to positions of the highest level in Islam.
Thus through Bilal, r.a., the African, all of Africa came
into the fold of Islam. The people of West Africa say that
Bilal's descendants migrated to West Africa and thus Islam
spread there, as can be seen in the saga known as Son-Jara
or Sundiata.

-
Through Salman, r.a., the Persian, the vast empire of
Persia learned that Islam wants to liberate people and end
slavery. All of central Asia, into India, was thus affected.
Salman, r.a., saved the city of Madinah through the strategy
of the TRENCH when all of Arabian paganism united to attack
Islam.

-
Through Suhaib, r.a., known as Rumi or the European, the
White people learned that Islam opposes their imperial power
but has no racial bias against them. Later when the Ottomans
embraced Islam, not only were they "white" but they fought
and defeated Europe and captured thousands of Europeans who
later embraced Islam. These Europeans were some of the
toughest soldiers of Islam and were known as janissaris
[those who sacrifice their lives]

-
In Arabia's heartland, Makka and Madinah, the Prophet,
pbuh, married Ayesha, r.a., through whom he liberated half
the human population, WOMEN. She was the greatest scholar of
the Qur'an and the Hadith and fiqh, leader of men and women.
Through her women learned that they are equal to men if they
have taqwa and know the Qur'an and Hadith. She is revered
throughout the Muslim world.

Let us pray for the victory of Islam, in Kashmir, against
India, against Russia in Chechnya, in Afghanistan against
NATO, in Pakistan against the munafiqueen, in Yemen,
Somalia, Nigeria and Egypt against western machinations.
O Allah, help the Believers to drive out the Yahood from
Palestine as you helped them to drive America out of Iraq.
Ameen. Summa Ameen.
Murder Most Foul: Analysis by Kaukab Siddique, PhD
Zionist Terrorists Target Iranian Professors and Scientists.
Muslim World Should Join Hands to Oppose
Zionist-Imperialist Actions
New Trend's analysts ask: Have you ever heard of a Chinese,
or Russian or Indian professor being assassinated for the
crime of involvement in cutting edge nuclear technology? A
Pakistani nuclear scientist was kept under house arrest for
years by General Musharraf and faced danger to his life but
was not killed.
Now we have a series of murders of Islamic professors in
Iran. The latest, on January 11, was the murder of Mustafa
Ahmadi Roshan, a brilliant 32 year old intellectual helping
the Iranian nuclear effort. Who is behind this blatant
murder through a sophisticated stick bomb which made little
noise? [A couple of years back, Professor Massoud Ali
Mohammadi was murdered in a similar attack. ]
One would have to be retarded not to see that there are only
two suspects with the motivation and the ability: The USA
and Israel [of course through terrorists working for them
in Iran].
On January 12 Defense Secretary Leon Panetta made a warlike
speech broadcast in parts by CNN in which he threatened Iran
but claimed that the US was not involved in the murder but
he said he can guess who! [The show was run by Israel's
stoogie on CNN Wolf Blitzer, a dyed in the wool Zionist and
a Jew from hell who has been fooling the American public for
decades. Blitzer of course did not ask Panetta the most
obvious questions.]
Hardly had the murder been announced, FOX TV, CNN and NPR
[openly Jewish] went into over drive to justify and even
celebrate the "hit."
Our analysis is that the US and Israel are out to destroy
ALL Islamic independence and resistance. With the rise of
extreme Zionism during the Republican competition going on,
blood thirsty Zionists are willing to white wash the most
horrendous breach of international law. First we had the
extra judicial assassination of Shaykh Osama, top Islamic
leader, defenseless in his own home with his family, and
then the murder-from-the air of Shaykh Awlaki, a US citizen
sentenced to death without trial.
Now with the Iranian professors, it is obvious that the
Zionists and the Imperialists smell blood. US marines
urinating on dead Taliban: Nothing has changed: Guantanamo
Bay was set up and then the Abu Ghraib horrors. The story of
Bagram is yet to be told where a woman, said to be Dr. Afia
by some observers, was raped repeatedly and screamed in
terror.
Shi'a-Sunni Unity is the Only Way out against the
Zionist-Imperialist Assault:
Iran is the only independent Muslim country now [at the
governmental level] and it will never be forgiven by the
enemies of Islam. Imam Khomeini made that very clear but the
Iranians forgot and have been making spasmodic but periodic
attempts to gain America's friendship. How saddening were
those visits to the UN and US when Ahmedinejad, such a good
and pious man, allowed himself to be humiliated by the
Zionist thugs in academia and media, for the sake of peace
and in the hope that Americans would understand that Iran is
not against America. He did not realize that the Zionist
Jews have this country by the throat and they will never
allow peace with Iran.
Our analysis is that Iran must review its foreign policy. It
has isolated itself by supporting the US invasion of Iraq
and the US assault on the Taliban. It has been neutral on
India in Kashmir. It talks about Palestine but can't even
arm the Palestinians. Geo-politically it is quite evident
that Iran's real constituency is the Muslim ummah. Imam
Khomeini was clear on this. Instead, Iran's leaders fell
into the hands of sectarians and went to the extent of
supporting a tiny Shi'a group in Nigeria where the Muslims
are almost 100% Sunni.
The latest blunder is Iran's support for Syria's monster
Assad with Muslim blood streaming from his hands.
Thus Iran's own policies have left the field open for Saudi
propagandists to mobilize the vast majority of Muslims
against the Shi'a "threat" coming from Iran. Can't the
Iranians see this? All this abuse about "wahhabis" and the
cries for the return of the Mahdi [a fringe narrative for
most Muslims] is harming Iran alone.
New Trend's Analysis on Pakistan: by Kaukab Siddique
Storm in a Teacup: America's Friends Tussle with Each Other
I am more loyal [to Uncle Sam] than him: Kayani and Gilani
Calmed down by General Dempsey
Looks like Osama bin Laden has taken revenge from the grave
against the Pakistani ruling class. It all began with the
Islamic leader's assassination in Abbotabad. The military
was shocked that the Shaykh had been living so near its
iconic academy. They looked like fools under whose very
noses America's elite Navy Seals [though a big part of the
unit was later decimated by the Taliban] pulled off their
greatest strike against Islamic resistance.
No, no, we were not complicit in giving refuge to the
Shaykh. We are simply incompetent! The army was implicitly
admitting. Then came the search for a scapegoat. The army
blamed the civilian government. After all Zardari and Gilani
are known puppets of America and the West in general. So,
thought the generals, the civilian rulers had a deal of
their own with America which left out the army and made it
look incompetent if not treasonous. The Americans put fuel
on the fire by claiming in a special National Geographic
report on the Abbottabad attack that the army's intelligence
wing, ISI, had tipped off the CIA about the whereabouts of
the top Islamic leader.
Thus both sides, totally in the hands of USA, blamed each
other and gradually started upping the ante by accusing
each other of being anti-Pakistan [traitors in plain
language]. The ruling party's ambassador in Washington,
Haqqani, sensed, probably with input from "president"
Zardari, that the army was planning a coup. Haqqani wanted
USA to stop the army. After all, the army is a creature of
USA and has sacrificed 36,000 Pakistani troops in fighting
the Islamic movement known as Pakistani Taliban. Haqqani was
sure that the army's moves would be check mated by its
masters in Washington.
Unfortunately for Haqqani, the inside dope was revealed by
an imp named Mansour Ijaz. The ruling party was shown by its
opposing parties as a bunch of traitors. The army now came
to be seen as the good guys.
The Prime Minister then decided to be the Pakistani
nationalist and claimed that as an elected leader, he could
even fire the army chief, General Kayani. This enraged the
blood thirsty general and it seemed that the coup was
finally coming. At this America intervened decisively and
ordered both its puppets [puppies?] to calm down, and they
did! [January 11, 2012]
The Pakistani public, in spite of being steadily educated by
Jamaate Islami, continues to be fooled by the people who run
Pakistan. One result of this constant tom foolery is the
process of mass alienation. Already the people of Frontier
province are up in arms, literally, and have been fighting
the military for years, killing and being killed in very
large numbers. In Baluchistan, the military has committed
crimes against humanity, including the disappearance of
hundreds of Baluchi opponents of the regime. Baluchis are
now attacking the military, for once successfully.
Jamaate Islami, Imran Khan, Fazlur Rahman, Nawaz Sharif and
many others want to bring about change by peaceful means by
holding massive public meetings. Unfortunately, however big
the peaceful gatherings of the poor and the Islamic,
Washington is not interested or affected. The regime smiles
at the peaceful gatherings. No arrests, no injuries, no
disturbance, the peaceful demonstrations continue and the
people in power do not even blink. Does peaceful change have
a chance in Pakistan? Your guess is as good as mine!
Obama Seeks to Distance U.S. from Israeli Attack on Iran
Gareth Porter - IPS
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article30158.htm
President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin
Netanyahu are engaged in intense maneuvering over
Netanyahu's aim of entangling the United States in an
Israeli war against Iran. Netanyahu is exploiting the
extraordinary influence his right-wing Likud Party exercises
over the Republican Party and the U.S. Congress on matters
related to Israel in order to maximise the likelihood that
the United States would participate in an attack on Iran.
Obama, meanwhile, appears to be hoping that he can avoid
being caught up in a regional war started by Israel if he
distances the United States from any Israeli attack.
Billionaire Zionist Sheldon Gives $5 million to Pro-Gingrich

The Associated Press - Haaretz (Israel)
http://www.haaretz.com/news/u-s-elections-2012/sheldon-adelsn-gives-5-million-to-pro-gingrich-group-1.406278
American billionaire Sheldon Adelson, close ally of Prime
Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and owner of the Israeli daily
Israel Hayom, has given $5 million to an independent group
backing Newt Gingrich's presidential bid. A person familiar
with the situation said Adelson - founder and majority owner

Future, a pro-Gingrich super PAC. The person said Adelson
would spend heavily to assist whichever candidate wins the
Republican nomination. Adelson is a longtime supporter of
GOP candidates and has been a friend and backer of former
House Speaker Gingrich for many years.
Wounded Knee or Bagdad?
by Nadrat Siddique on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at
11:16pm
This brings to mind the U.S. hounding and harassing of Iraq
during the sanctions period, under the pretext of a search
for WMDs. Specifically, the killing of the Lakota after
forcing them to surrender what (very) light arms they had,
contains echoes of the famed February 1991 Highway of Death
incident during Gulf War I in which an entire Iraqi tank
column, which had surrendered, was slaughered as it
retreated. Cowards prefer to kill their victims only upon
disarming them. -Nadrat
"Then I saw the soldiers mounting their horses and
surrounding us. It was announced that all men should come to
the center for a talk and that after the talk they were to
move on to Pine Ridge agency [reservation]. Big Foot [ailing
Indian Chief] was brought out of his tepee and sat in front
of his tent and the older men were gathered around him and
sitting right near him in the center."
After issuing hardtack for breakfast rations, Colonial
Forsyth informed the Indians that they were now to be
disarmed. "They called for guns and arms," White Lance said,
"so all of us gave the guns and they were stacked up in the
center." The soldier chiefs were not satisfied with the
number of weapons surrendered, and so they sent details of
troopers to search the tepees. "They would go right into the
tents and come out with bundles and tear them open," Dog
Chief said. "They brought our axes, knives, and tent stakes
and piled them near the guns."
Still not satisfied, the solider chiefs ordered the warriors
to remove their blankets and submit to searches for weapons.
The Indians' faces showed their anger, but only the medicine
man, Yellow Bird, made any overt protest.
The troopers found only two rifles, one of them a new
Winchester belonging to a young Minneconjou named Black
Coyote. Black Coyote raised the Winchester abouve his head,
shouting that he paid much money for the rifle and that it
belonged to him. Some years afterward Dewey Beard recalled
that Black Coyote was deaf. "If they had left him alone he
was going to put his gun down where he should. They grabbed
him and spinned him in the east direction. He was still
unconcerned even then. He hadn't pointed his gun at anyone.
His intention was to put that gun down. They came on and
grabbed the gun that he was going to put down. Right after
they spun him around there was the report [firing sound] of
a gun, was quite loud. I couldn't say that anybody was shot,
but following that was a crash."
In the first few seconds of violence, the firing of carbines
was deafening, filling the air with powder smoke. Among the
dying who lay sprawled on the frozen ground was Big Foot.
Then there was a brief lull in the rattle of arms, with
small groups of Indians and soldiers grappling at close
quarters, using knives, clubs, and pistols. A few of the
Indians had arms, they soon had to flee, and then the big
Hotchkill guns on the hill opened up on them, firing almost
a shell a second, raking the Indian camp, shredding the
tepees with flying shrapnel, killing men, women and
children.
"We tried to run," Louise Weasal Bear said, "but they shot
us like were a buffalo. I know there are some good white
people, but the soldiers must be mean to shoot children and
women. Indian soldiers would not do that to white
children."
"I was running away from the place abnd followed those who
were running away," said Hakiktawin, another of the young
women. "My grandfather and granmother and borther were
killed as we crossed the ravine, and then I was shot on the
right hip clear through and on my right wrist where I did
not go any furthr as I was not able to walk, and after the
soldier picked me up where a little girl came to me and
crawled into the blanket."
When the madness ened, Big Foot and more than half of his
people were dead or seirously wounded; 153 were known dead,
but many of the wounded crawled away to die afterward. One
estimate placesd the final total of dead at very nearly
three hundred of the original 350 men, women, and children.
The soldeiers lost twenty-five dead and thirty nine wounded,
most of them struck by their own bullets or shrapnel.
After the wounded cavalry men were started for the agency at
Pine Ridge, a detail of solderis went over the Wounded Knee
battlefield, gathering up Indians who were still alive and
loading them into wagons. As it was apparent by the end of
the day that a blizzard was approaching, the dead Indians
were left lying where they had fallen. (After the blizzard,
when a burial party returned to Wounded Knee, they found the
bodies, including Big Foot's, frozen into grotesque
shapes.)
The wagonloads of wounded Sioux (four men and forty-seven
women and children) reached Pine Ridge after dark. Because
all available barracks were filled with soldiers, they were
left lying in the open wagons in the bitter cold while an
inept army officer searched for shelter. Finally the
Episcopal mission was opened, the benches taken out, and hay
scattered over the rough flooring.
It was the fourth day after Christmas in the Year of Our
Lord 1890. When the first torn and bleeding bodies were
carreid into the candlelit church, those who were conscious
could see Christmas greenery hanging from the open rafters.
Across the chancel front above the pulpit was strung a
crudely lettered banner: PEACE ON EARTH, GOOD WILL TO
MEN.

Although Gitmo is no longer the primary focus, and there
remain plenty of "Black Sites" (a horrible misnomer--given

these bastions of inhumanity, it would be more accurate to
characterize them as "White Sites"), the symbolic value of

for 1947-48 and 1948-49 terms.
Professor Ghulam Azam played a leading role in the Language
Movement of the country. In November 1948, he submitted a
memorandum to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on behalf of
the students of Dhaka University demanding the state
language status for Bangla. The movement continued, he was
arrested in charge of the movement in 1952 and 1955, and at
a stage the government had to declare Bangla as a state
language of Pakistan.
Although educated in the general education, Professor Ghulam
Azam was a practicing Muslim from his childhood. He came in
touch with the political and cultural thinking of Islam
through a cultural organisation named 'Tamaddun Mozlish'.
While a teacher of Political Science in Rangpur Kermichle
College, he founded a branch of 'Tamaddun Majlish' in
Rangpur in 1952.
His quest for leading the life of a complete Muslim took him
to Tablig Jamaat. He was the Ameer of Tablig Jamaat of
Rangpur for the period of 1951-1954. His separate
experiences with 'Tamaddun Majlish' and 'Tablig Jamaat'
increased his longing for an organisation that covers both
the spiritual and sociopolitical aspects of Islam. He found
Jamaat-e-Islami at last.
He became the Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami of East
Pakistan in 1957. He was thrown to jail in 1964 by the
military rules Ayub Khan. He played a key role in the
formation of Pakistan Democratic Alliance (PDM) in 1967. It
was all party democratic resistance movement against the
military rule of Ayub Khan. He was the Secretary General of
the Executive Committee of East Pakistan Wing of PDM. He
became the Ameer of East Pakistan Jamaat-e-Islami in 1969.
Like all other Islamic parties and groups, he did not
support the Liberation War of Bangladesh. The reasons for
not supporting the Liberation War of 1971 was - he did not
believe that independence from Pakistan would solve our
problem. He believed in self-rule or autonomy and continued
to campaign in favour of that. His main opposition to the
Liberation War was that it was fully surrounded by India and
therefore, gaining independence with India's support would
result in the country being indirectly controlled and ruled
by India. He feared that India would become a bully and
would do everything in its power to dominate the politics
and economy of the country.
Soon after the liberation, the new government started its
campaign of uprooting Islam and democracy from Bangladesh.
The government deleted the word 'Muslim' and 'Islam' from
names of educational institutes, banned Islam-based
politics, arrested and tortured noted Islamic leaders and
scholars. Professor Ghulam Azam's very citizenship was
canceled and he had to spend his life in exile till 1978.
He was declared as the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami in 1991. He
was sent to jail in 1992 and later released by the order of
the court. The Supreme Court reinstated his citizenship in
1994.
He retired from active politics in 2000. Currently, he has
engaged himself in original writings and providing guidance
to the Islamic thinkers and politicians of Bangladesh.
Thinking about Leadership
Spotlights From Imam Badi Ali, National Shoora Leader, North
Carolina
-
Spotlight #1:
 -
I am wondering about those who give and
receive "honors" from taghoot [oppressors and tyrants].
There is no honor in these transactions.
 -
Spotlight #2:
 -
To bring about change, one has to be "big" in
thinking, one has to be righteous and elite in advancing
against corruption. If the environment changes you and you
excuse yourself by saying you are too small, then you are
not a leader.
 -
Spotlight #3:
 -
Our "leaders" are leaders by default. The
nation has to take responsibility that it took such people
as leaders.
 -
Spotlight #4:
 -
Nations become unmotivated owing to leadership
which lacks ethics and follows the politics of lies, or just
talks without substance as in the case of Obama.
 -
Spotlight #5:
 -
Idiots who claim to be leaders, create enemies
and start wars. Nations often don't know what their leaders
are doing and get involved in unnecessary conflicts.
 -
Spotlight #6:
 -
Leaders are teachers. Leadership is a
discipline.
 -
Spotlight #7:
 -
When we see leaders who are not serving Islam,
we should ask, whom are they serving. Leaders are supposed
to be servants, says an Islamic narrative.
 -
Spotlight #8:
 -
Muslim leaders have to accept responsibility
for what happens in their domain. They should not be saying,
it's not their fault. Our leaders do not accept
responsibility and they pretend that defeat is victory.
 -
Spotlight #9:
 -
Our leaders lead without a vision or a plan.
They just keep ruling blindly.
 -
Spotlight #10:
 -
In America, idiots lead by creating fear
which in turn leads to the creation of evil. And all this
negativity is carried out with the help of the media.
 -
Spotlight #11:
 -
Our reason for our defeats is that our
leaders demoralize their nations by the very words they use.
 -
Spotlight #12:
 -
Women are, by nature, leaders. They prepare
future generations of leaders. They motivate not only their
children but their husbands. Even top male leaders are
motivated by such women leaders. These women should not be
working in restaurants where they are servants, not leaders.
