Ramadan 18, 1432/August 19, 2011 # 35
Latest news: Israel gets first touch of Islamic
resistance:
August 19: Palestinian mujahideen entered Israeli occupied
southern Sinai through Egyptian territory which used to be
blocked by Hosni Mubarak's forces. For several hours a
handful of fighters engaged Israeli military transports
moving through the area, destroying several vehicles. At
least 8 Israeli troops were killed and 24 wounded.
In response, Israel started launching air strikes into Gaza
and killed 6 "militants" unconnected to the mujahideen.
Netanyahoo has promised more air attacks. Analysts say that
the mujahideen want to draw Hamas into the fighting because
cease fire with Israel is not permitted in Islam.
The infiltration, probably by a group known as the Army of
Islam or Islamic Fatah [identity not clear] which has been
defying Hamas, occurred after Israeli air attacks on August
17 which killed one Palestinian civilian and wounded 7.
[Fighting is continuing on August 19. An Egyptian police
post trying to stop the 5 mujahideen was also hit.]
Afghanistan: August 17: In Taliban raids, 9 more NATO
troops have been killed bringing the total for August to 65
[including 22 Seals who attacked Shaykh Osama]. No Taliban
losses.
NATO announced, August 15, that it has completed 50,000 air
strikes against the Taliban since the occupation began.
Iraq: On August 14, there was a wave of attacks against the
US installed regime, both military and civilian targets,
which killed 74 and wounded 250. The targets were in Baquba,
Tikrit, Kirkuk, Baghdad, Kut, Kerbala and Najaf. It appears
that Al-Qaidah in Iraq is showing its strength. [On August
16, there was a series of attacks on regime troops in
Mosul.]
Libya: August 18:Islamic "rebels" captured the oil refinery
in Zawiyah, west of Tripoli. They are also advancing from
the south. Unless Gaddafi launches a successful
counterattack, his situation is bleak. Our observers say
that the new regime will be pro-western but it will be weak
and Islamic forces will emerge as the real victors.
Syria: August 18: For the first time, the US came out openly
against Syria's Assad. The Americans can see that inspite of
all his atrocities, the Syrian dictator cannot win. Ms.
Clinton is trying to be on the winning side but has no
sympathy for the Islamic aspirations of the Syrian
people.
[We have received an extensive report from Shaykh al-Massari
in England which shows that the Iranian Press TV is carrying
on a campaign of big time lies and fabrications against the
Syrian Muslims and is extolling the Shi'ite Alawite regime
of Assad. Press TV is known for its lies and conspiracy
theories.]

Spotlights by Imam Badi Ali, Jamaat al-Muslimeen National
Shoora, North Carolina
Spotlight #1: Community is essential. Meet people with an
open mind even if you don't like some of their traits.
Ramadan's fasting can help you.
Spotlight #2: Don't be a slave of THINGS. Allah can help you
to be in control. Fasting is a great way of moving out of
petty desires.
Spotlight #3: Don't be a waster. It's a shame to fast and
then waste good food at iftar. Have you seen people who take
a sip of a water bottle, throw it away and take another?
Don't clutter the world with your waste.
2 Unusual Iftars: Baltimore and Annapolis [Maryland]
This Masjid Belongs to Sisters and Brothers United
by Sis. Ashira Naim [Secretary General]
This year, 2011,saw the most attendance at the masjid for an
iftar, maghrib and
isha salats, followed by taraweeh prayers, Friday, August
12, 2011.
In between all of these prayers was served some of the most
delicious dishes and drinks sponsored by the women of Masjid
Jamaat al-Muslimeen. The night saw a
sister make her first visit to any masjid and several
newcomers, as well. The
spirit was indeed high and the spirit of Islam permeated the
air.
The Maghrib and Isha prayers were led by the Amir, Dr.
Kaukab Siddique and the Imam, Poppa Mommar respectively.
Dr. Siddique made comments after the prayer thanking the
sisters for the wonderful food and reminding them as well as
the visiting sisters that this masjid belongs to them and
they are to feel "at home"
here and offer their help which will be most welcome.
He told the Believers that Ramadan brings Blessings for
those who are truly fasting and show it by following in the
footsteps of the Prophet (SAW). Also, he cautioned the
Believers to be aware that Ramadan also brings its warnings
and that those who choose to ignore the Calling of Allah
are, thus,followed up by shaitan.
The taraweeh prayers were led by our young Imam, Brother
Yusuf Robinson. We are all proud of Bro. Yusuf and we are
praying for his success since his 1+ year of studying Arabic
and Islamic Studies in Yemen. He, in his Khutba earlier
this day, reminded the Believers that we are to be happy to
defend our religion
especially at this time of Ramadan when the shaitan is down.
He chided the
Believers to beat the shaitan while he is down as this is
the best time to be
victorious.
Imam Poppa Mommar announced to the Believers after the Jumah
that everyone was invited to Iftar and complimentary dinner
at the Tam-Tam [Senegalese] restaurant on the York Road
corridor, held the next day, Saturday
Iftar for Activists, Struggling for Justice in America:
Ibn Khaldun Writers' Circle
On August 12 the writers' group met in the Annapolis area
for iftar. The turnout was excellent as was the food. These
are people who are involved in the struggle for justice in
America. They are at the heart of various rallies, protests,
hearings and demonstrations in the Maryland-Washington, DC
area.
Among the guests were non-Muslims. It was interracial:
Black, White, Latino, Asiatic... A great variety of topics
were discussed, from America's wars, to the conditions in
our cities, to the injustices meted out to political
prisoners.
The program was organized by Nadrat Siddique. Here's her
comment:
Thanks to the extraordinary youth of the Ibn Khaldun
Writers' Circle, affiliates, and guest., I am once again
floored by the quality of the conversation, the
internationalism, adaab, taqwa, and caring for the Ummah
which you all exhibit. Thank you all for making it the best
iftar!!
Siraj Wahhaj is a key figure in the fund raising done by
ISNA and ICNA to drain the Muslims of their resources. For
years we have asked him to apologize for his lies and the
help he gave the Zionist judge Michael Mukasey in the
sentencing of the great Egyptian Islamic scholar Dr. Omar
Abdel Rahman [also known as the Blind Shaikh]. ISNA never
allows Siraj to be questioned for his lies against the
Hafize Qur'an. Finally Br. Jihad Rashid [Detroit area
activist] caught up with Siraj when he was collecting funds
at the rich Canton area mosque in the western suburbs of
Detroit. It's a profile in moral courage carried out at
great risk by Br. Rashid. See his report after next
item.

Face to Face with Siraj Wahhaj: The ISNA man who helped send
the Blind Shaikh to prison for life.
"THIS IS NOT THE FORMAT!"
By Jihad Rashid, Detroit, Michigan
Pre-prison photo of Dr. Omar Abdel Rahman [The Blind
Shaikh]. He is in a US prison cell owing to a Jewish Zionist
Judge Michael Mukasey, an Egyptian intelligence agent
working for Hosni Mubarak, and false witnessing and lies by
Siraj Wahhaj, a key person in the White House supported
ISNA.
For the Shaikh's soul stirring recitation of the Qur'an, go
to Jamaat al-Muslimeen on Facebook and scroll way down.
Br. Jihad Rashid writes:
During his August 7th visit to the Detroit Metro area, Siraj
Wahhaj gave a lecture at the Canton Masjid in the western
suburbs. After the lecture the floor was opened up for
questions.
I asked Siraj Wahhaj about his testifying against Sheikh
Abdel Rahman which allowed the Zionist court to convict the
Sheikh and sentenced him to a Life Sentence plus 60 years.
He stated that this was not format for such a question.
I continued to press asking how he could stand in front of
the Muslims and preach about morality while at the same time
work being an agent provocateur for the government! I
informed the gathering that Siraj was an Un-indicted
co-conspirator in the same. For those of us who are familiar
with the Federal Court system, know that being a
co-conspirator, the only way that you can free yourself from
being sent to jail is to cooperate with the Federal
government, (See Federal Rules of Criminal Procedures Rules
51).
After I made that statement I was asked forcibly to leave
the gathering.
As we reflect on the background of Siraj Wahhaj and others
such as Dawud Walid of CAIR (who stated at the Shrine of the
Black Madonna in Detroit, Michigan on July 16, 2011 at the
National Coalition to Protect Civil Freedoms hearing, NCPCF,
that he would contact the FBI on Muslims), we must ask the
question, WHO ARE THESE GUYS and WHO MADE THEM THE SPOKESMEN
FOR THE MUSLIMS?
We must reflect on history: how the government infiltrated
groups such as the Black Panther Party causing suspicion,
division and the eventual fall of the Party. This was done
by agent provocateurs joining the Black Panthers and
starting to destroy it from within. Those agents played the
role, talked the talk and walked the walk, at the same time
being like a cancer destroying the body from the inside
out.
As we look at the example of Malcolm X, when the FBI
approached Malcolm to work with them against Elijah
Muhammad, Brother Malcolm, our Beloved Shahid, a Shining
Example of Manhood having tape recorded the conversation,
unbeknownst to the FBI, told them straight out NO!
This writer having been in Federal Prison knows of several
individuals who are illegally imprisoned due to someone
LYING on them in court in order to save their own hides! The
FBI, U.S. Attorney's Office and the Judges know this, but
yet still allow such illegality to go forth, in the name of
JUSTICE!
The Muslim Ummah must learn from the past how we lost our
position in history. Just as during the crusades we lost
Jerusalem due to an agent provocateur working from within
the walls of Al Quds allowing Godfrey to massacre the
inhabitants' of OUR Holy City, we must beware of that same
spirit that lingers in our midst today!
This writer will elaborate on the agent provocateur Dawud
Walid in his piece submitted to New Trend.

grassroots, supports Jamaat al-Muslimeen's work and
endorses causes for justice and peace.]
New Trend background study
Aga Khani-Republican Alliance in Texas Emerging as
SubtleThreat to Islamic Pakistan
Ismailis, the followers of the Aga Khan, have subtly
infiltrated the Muslim world, particularly Pakistan.
Minorities linked to the western powers have played an
important role in undermining Islamic ways of life.
A new dimension has emerged in this situation owing to the
alliance between Aga Khanis and the Republican Party.
President Bush was very friendly with CAIR but he chose an
Aga Khani, Mr. Eboo, to represent US Muslims at the Muslim
Conference.
A step further now, and Governor Rick Perry of Texas, an
extreme right winger, has hooked up with Aga Khan's Ismaili
cult. There is a strong Ismaili presence in Houston, 30,000
to 40,000 according to the Houston Chronicle of August 5.
How close is this relationship? According to Salon.com,
Governor Perry, now a presidential candidate " has been
friends for years with the Aga Khan, head of an Islamic sect
called Ismailis.Perry even laid the first brick at the
groundbreaking ceremony for an Ismaili worship center in
Plano in 2005."
Aga Khanis on the Internet reveal their close relationship
with forces hostile to Islam. Aga Khan was a great friend of
Medeleine Albright [killer of Iraqi children], very close to
Hosni Mubarak [now in prison] and Karzai, the puppet ruler
of Kabul.
Aga Khanis are quite strong in strategic areas of Pakistan
and have set up institutions which bring elite Pakistanis
into alliance with America. In the big cities too, American
influence is pedalled to Pakistani elites through fancy
businesses called AGHA's. Most Pakistanis do not know that
Aghas's is a reference to Agha Khan. His picture is theire
in the innser sanctum of their offices.
First Bush and now the Texan Governor Perry in a six year
relationship with Ismailis indicate a power relationship
which can be dangerous for Muslim countries.
Islamic Fighter is a Terrorist, says Obama: Assets Frozen
[if any]
[Report below uncut from the daily Dawn, Karachi.]
WASHINGTON: August 16. The Obama administration designated a
key insurgent commander in southeastern Afghanistan as a
terrorist Tuesday, freezing any assets he has in the United
States and barring Americans from doing business with
him.
The State Department said Mullah Sangeen Zadran is the
shadow governor of Paktika province in southeastern
Afghanistan and a commander in the Haqqani network.
A statement said Sangeen leads fighters in attacks and has
helped hundreds of foreign fighters enter Afghanistan. It
also linked him to bombings and kidnappings of Afghans and
foreigners in the border region between Afghanistan and
Pakistan.
Sangeen was also designated a terrorist by the UN, meaning
he should be subject to a global travel ban, asset freeze
and arms embargo. The Haqqani network has ties to both
al-Qaida and the Taliban and has emerged as one of the
biggest threats to stability in Afghanistan .....
An opponent of the Pakistani army has died under
torture.
Even after release by order of Supreme Court.
Following an attack on General Kayani's military
headquarters last year by Punjabi Taliban, the army's
intelligence branch arrested a man named Muhammad 'Aamir
[son of Muhammad Ashraf, resident of Rawalpindi]. He was
kept chained in Rawalpindi's central jail for 11 months.
His relatives appealed all the way to the Supreme Court and
finally on May 28 this year he was released on the orders of
the court. However, on release he was immediately abducted
by the intelligence agency. The agency admitted that he was
in their custody along with 11 others.
Suddenly on August 12 he was brought to the Lady Reading
hospital in Peshawar where he died. Doctors declared that
he had kidney trouble but his family is demanding complete
post mortem and is refusing to take his body. [Info.

Letter about US Raid on Shaykh Osama's House.
Another Pakistani Witness Differs with Bashir's Eyewitness
Account
Heard Rifle Fire: Pak troops arrived in fifteen minutes
Dear doctor sahib:
Salaam alaikum.
I was awake when one of the attack helicopters flew over my
house at just above tree-top level. Having worked with the
Pakistan, US and to a slight extent the Soviet Army
Aviations for over two decades I can recognise many of the
helicopters by the sound they make. This one sounded very
unusual. There was no turbine noise. The only noise was
that of the rotor blades. It was muffled and lacked the
dub-dub. The second helicopter adopted a different approach
to the target. I did not hear it.
A few minutes before the action, a person on the ground
began yelling to the neighbors in Pushto and Urdu to stay in
their homes. He said a Pak Army excercise was going to
start.
Within a few minutes there was a large bang. That was one of
the helicopters going down. I also heard just a few a few
rounds of rifle fire. Two other helicopters were on standby
at Amb, about fifteen or so flying minutes away. The
Americans took all their dead, if any, with them.
Within fifteen minutes of their departure truckloads of Pak
troops arrived to secure the premises. It was almost as on
cue, preplanned and synchronised. No one was allowed into
the house. Actually even the roads in the area were
offlimits to all but the residents.
How "Hundreds of Pakistanis" managed to enter the house and
see pieces of dead bodies puzzles me. "Eye-witness" Bashir's
testimony of seeing body parts also surprises me. Pak Army
had cordoned off the area quite well.
Sincerely,
Mir Salim Ullah
Abbott Abad [Pakistan]
Editor's comment: : Pak Army must Answer for this
Assassination
Walaikum asalam
Thank you for your valuable response.
One gap in your letter is this:
According to Bashir, there was a time lapse between the US
helicopter exploding and the arrival of Pakistani forces. It
was during this time, 20 or so minutes, that Bashir and many
others rushed into the house and saw the body parts.
He thinks the American forces are trained to speak Pushto.
They were the ones telling people to stay indoors. Pretty
good tactics! {Pak army was slow in its response and is
answerable for the assassination of the top Islamic leader
in the vicinity of its military center.]
Pakistani Politician in Cahoots with India, Attacks basis of
Pakistan
LAHORE, Aug. 15: The Jamaat e Islami Secretary General,
Liaquat Baloch has slated PML(N) leader Nawaz Sharif's words
in praise of India and said this had hurt the sentiments of
the people of Pakistan.
In a statement here on Monday, he said Mian Nawaz Sharif's
assertion that the Muslims and Hindus worshipped the same
god reflected his ignorance about basic Islamic
teachings.
India, he said, was the sworn enemy of Pakistan and had not
accepted its creation by heart. The Indian media was making
poisonous propaganda against this country. Indian troops
were continuing unlawful occupation of Kashmir and carrying
out the genocide of innocent Kashmiris.
Liaquat Baloch said the PML(N) leader was also keen to
expand trade ties with India although Pakistan had suffered
to the tune of billions in this trade. This only showed that
the former Prime Minister had eyes only on his business
interests. Castigating the PML(N) assertion that India and
Pakistan had one culture and heritage, Liaquat Baloch said
if Mian Sahib loved the Indian culture so much, he should
migrate to his ancestral village Ja'ti Umra near Amritsar in
India.
Karachi: Jamaate Islami Helps the Oppresse
Secular parties kill 40 more in Ruthless Gang War
On August 18, Jamaate Islami's ameer Munawar Hasan visited
the oppressed people of Karachi in the townships known as
Qasba colony. Kutty Pahari, Orangi Town and Metroville. He
handed out cash donations to those who have lost belongings
in the little war going on in Karachi. He was asccompanied
by JI leadership in Karachi.
Later at a ceremony in the Orangi town office of Jamaate
Islami, Hasan distributed checks to owners of small business
which have been damaged.
Meanwhile the carnage between secular parties, MQM, ANP and
PPP continued with 40 more murders reported by the police.
Taraweeh is not part of the Qur'an or Hadithe Nabawi
What Should Muslims do instead of Taraweehs?
by Kaukab Siddique
In response to my article on Taraweeh, Br. Shamim Siddiqui
and Dr. Omar Afzal tried to persuade me that taraweeh is
indeed part of Islamic requirements. Unfortunately these
learned brothers have failed to provide any textual
evidence that taraweeh is even mentioned in the Qur'an and
the Hadith-e-Nabawi. [All other readers are also welcome to
send me a hadith in which the Prophet, pbuh, recommends
taraweeh. There is none such.]
Here is my summary:
-
The Qur'an does not teach anything about taraweehs.
 -
There is no hadith from Prophet Muhammad, pbuh, urging
Muslims to perform taraweeh prayers, let alone giving the
number of 20 or 8 or 36 or whatever rakats for
taraweehs.
 -
Extra prayers during Ramadan are recommended in hadith,
but these are an individual matter, not in congregation, and
certainly not in every night of Ramadan.
 -
The Prophet, pbuh, prayed late at night THREE times in
Ramadan in the mosque but then not only discontinued the
prayer when he saw Muslims were making it congregational but
forbade it.

Here is the relevant sahih Hadith from Imam Bukhari's
collection:
Volume 3, Book 32, Number 229:
Narrated 'Urwa:
That he was informed by 'Aisha, r.a.,, "Allah's Apostle went
out in the middle of the night and prayed in the mosque and
some men prayed behind him. In the morning, the people spoke
about it and then a large number of them gathered and prayed
behind him (on the second night). In the next morning the
people again talked about it and on the third night the
mosque was full with a large number of people. Allah's
Apostle came out and the people prayed behind him. On the
fourth night the Mosque was overwhelmed with people and
could not accommodate them, but the Prophet came out (only)
for the morning prayer. When the morning prayer was finished
he recited Tashah-hud and (addressing the people) said, "
your presence was not hidden from me but I was afraid lest
the night prayer (Qiyam) should be enjoined on you and you
might not be able to carry it on." So, Allah's Apostle died
and the situation remained like that (i.e. people prayed
individually). "
Thus it is obvious that today Muslims are doing EXACTLY THE
OPPOSITE of what the Prophet, pbuh, wanted.
What should Muslims be doing in Ramadan nights:
-
Focus on Muslim men and women and children in Palestine.
How great is their suffering? What have we done to boycott
Israel? Have we spent time in writing and emailing about
Palestine?.Think of the suffering of Gaza.
 -
Focus on Muslim men, women, children in Afghanistan. NATO
has carried out 50,000 air strikes there till now. {Other
than Jamaat al-Muslimeen] has any Muslim group in USA even
spoken against the attacks, let alone helping the
victims?
 -
Focus on Somalia. More than 4 million are facing
starvation, disease and death. If these were your families,
would you spend nights in taraweehs or in organizing relief
on an international scale?
 -
Bombing of Libya by NATO. Hundreds have been killed. Any
words against NATO?
 -
Drone strikes in Pakistan. Several thousand unarmed
people have been killed. In addition, Pakistan's military
has killed 40,000 people in support of the US. Thousands
have DISAPPEARED, especially from Baluchistan. Do Pakistani
Americans do anything to help?
 -
Look at Syria. Horrific murders of Muslims by Assad,
entire cities under siege.
 -
Look at USA. Muslim leaders and innocents in prison. Do
we have time to send a post card to Dr. Aafia, Lynne
Stewart, Shifa Sadequee, Masoud Khan or Kifah
al-Jayyousi?
 -
Kashmir under occupation by 700,000 Indian troops. The
entire country is like a prison. Why have we forgotten
Kashmir?
 -
Chechnia, Sudan, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Ethiopia .... the
list goes on.
 -
Iraq was destroyed by the US. Have we helped the Iraqis?
Millions are affected.
At, before or after Badr and the Conquest of Makkah, the
Prophet, pbuh, was not praying taraweehs.

They say, in some narratives, that Umar, r.a., organized
Taraweehs. How is that possible when his Caliphate was
nothing but one jihad after another? It may have been his
ijtehad to organize taraweehs but read the record of
Umar's, r.a., life. No Taraweeh prayers there. If you can
find him praying taraweehs in any Ramadan, do let me know.
[Do not refer to the assertions about his organizing
taraweehs but the ACTUAL events of his life.] He spent his
nights looking for the needy and the downtrodden.
Speaking the truth, Amr bil Maruf and Nahi un-il munkar are
faraid, obligatory. Standing up for the ummah under attack
is fard. Taraweehs are not.
