An invitation to think.
Spotlights from Imam Badi Ali, Jamaat al-Muslimeen National
Shoora, NC
Spotlight #1: A hero is an ordinary person who offers
sacrifices inspite of obstacles, difficulties and conditions
of fear.
Spotlight #2: Young people look for heroes. It is part of
the culture of youth. They need stars to guide them in the
darkness.
Spotlight #3: A true hero is one who suppresses his personal
desires to serve others at whatever cost and regardless of
how long it takes.
Spotlight #4: Doomed is the nation and the people who
surrender their heroes to their enemies and thus destroy
their own best legacy.
Spotlight #5: Opposing mass culture which affects your
friends and closest relatives and the whole nation is
extremely difficult. If you are able to oppose mass culture
in your own life, you are a hero.
Spotlight #6: Anyone who does not know his job, be it a
carpentar or an office worker, is dismissed ['fired']. Our
rulers and kings do not know their job but they refuse to be
fired.
Spotlight #7: A better analogy of our kings and rulers is of
the football team captain who sabotages his own team and
tries to score against his own team.
Spotlight #8: Those who give juma khutbas should know that a
khutba is not only a form of worship but a tool of change
in people's behavior and thoughts
A mind boggling book: Nothing but facts: Looks at both
viewpoints.
Debating the Holocaust by Thomas Dalton, PhD.

Jews allow open debate on an Israel-related concept?

Bellevue family sues FBI over 'terrifying' raid
By Brian Bowling PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Thursday, June 16, 2011 The lasting impact of the raid on
Gary Adams' home became clear in a comment from his
3-year-old granddaughter during a recent trip to the
pharmacy. "She said, 'Granddad. Police. Hide,' " Adams, 57,
of Bellevue recalled Wednesday while discussing the federal
lawsuit he filed against the officers who burst into his
home March 3.
Led by FBI Special Agent Karen Springmeyer, about a dozen
officers used a battering ram to enter Adams' rented Orchard
Street home in a search for Sondra Hunter, then 35. But
Hunter hadn't lived at that address for almost two years,
while Adams and his family had been living there for more
than a year, according to the lawsuit filed by Adams and 10
other family members. The lawsuit says that officers knew,
or should have known, that Hunter no longer lived there.
By executing an arrest warrant at a residence that wasn't
Hunter's, they violated the family's Fourth Amendment right
against unreasonable search and seizure, and their Fifth
Amendment right to due process, the lawsuit says. Adams said
he knew Hunter's family from when they lived in Manchester,
but there was no other connection between them and no reason
for police to believe that Hunter lived in the house.
Other than citations for traffic violations and scalping
tickets without a permit, Adams has been a law-abiding
citizen. The incident destroyed his confidence in the police
and his ability to sleep through the night, he said.
"They had guns on my wife, my babies. I'd like to know how
they would feel -- the people in my house -- if that
happened to them," he said. Denise Adams, 58, said seeing
the red dots from the officers' targeting lasers crawl
across her children's faces also has cost her faith in law
enforcement. "I don't want to, but this was terrifying," she
sobbed.

Gaddafi, Islam and the West.
Islam can Unite Africa: Race and Socialism are not the
Issue: Follow Malcolm X & Imam Jamil, not Gaddafi.
By Kaukab Siddique
-
Shaikh Omar Abdel Rahman [the Blind Shaikh] is an African
but he does not excite erstwhile supporters of Col. Gaddafi
who claim that they love Africa.
 -
Imam Jamil Abdullah al-Amin has been railroaded. He is an
African American but his case does not excite those who
support Gaddafi and claim to love people of African
descent.
 -
America has worked hard to prevent Islamic rule in
Somalia. A pro-western clique ruling parts of Mogadishu has
been given enough fire power to stop stability under Islam
in Somalia. The Islamic forces have been labeled terrorist
although they are not fighting the United States. Not a word
of protest from supporters of Gaddafi who claim to love
Africa.
 -
In Nigeria, a military armed and supported by the US and
Israel has killed thousands of Islamic dissidents, destroyed
their mosques and ransacked their homes. Again, not a word
from the supporters of Gaddafi who claim to love Africa.

Why the outpouring of support for Gaddafi? Is he an
anti-imperialist hero?
-
Gaddafi murdered 1200 Islamic political prisoners.
 -
He was the only ruler in the Muslim world who shot down
protestors rallying against the cartoons of Prophet
Muhammad, pbuh, produced in Denmark.
 -
His nepotism and family rule over the immense wealth of
Libya rivals the clan rule of the Saudis. Just about every
aspect of life in Libya was ruled by Gaddafi's sons and
other relatives.
 -
This "anti-imperialist hero" has assets of $30 billion in
USA.
 -
Just before the people's uprising, he was buying vast
amounts of military equipment from Britain.

Gaddafi's real enemy is Islam. He has been raving and
ranting against "Islamic extremists." He thinks all his
opponents are al-Qaida: he strongly opposes the idea of the
Caliphate. He opposes the Shariah of Islam and does not
follow the Sunnah of Muhammad, pbuh. His sons, working
closely with the tyrant, behave like Europeans: their
lifestyle and playboy behavior is not very different from
that of King Abdullah of Jordan. Even after being bombed by
NATO, he has not called for mujahideen to help him.
Why are NATO and the USA trying to remove Gaddafi?
The answer is available in the uprising of the Libyan
people. The people rose up in EVERY Libyan city, all the way
from Benghazi to Tripoli. In Benghazi, the Libyan tyrant's
forces killed 300 people in ONE DAY but failed to suppress
the uprising.
In Tripoli, where he has numerous well paid supporters, the
people kept rising up but were brutally suppressed. Most of
Libya went out of Gaddafi's control. ALL THIS HAPPENED
BEFORE OBAMA and NATO took any action.
What NATO and Obama see is a doddering old dictator who has
ruled for 42 years with a brutality which made Hosni Mubarak
look like a choir boy. Gaddafi is hated by the Libyan
people. The West was shocked and surprised by the uprisings
in Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen, Libya [and now Syria]. The CIA
failed miserably to forecast the Muslim masses' ability to
defy power. Hence Obama [he is a quick learner] switched
rapidly to a pro-people's stance. His hope is that a puppet
regime can be installed in Libya and this is being done by
linking up with a minor group of Libyans in Benghazi who are
very westernized.
It won't work because Islam is becoming stronger by the day.
The Libyan uprising is basically an Islamic phenomenon. No
puppet westernized group has the kind of power Gaddafi had
to suppress Islam. [Remember the nonsensical Green Book
Gaddafi issued to replace the Qur'an as the source of
guidance?]
Gaddafi has support among African rulers who are either
non-Muslims or are marginally Muslims or openly
westernized.
We definitely should condemn NATO's attacks on Libyans,
including those in Tripoli who support Gaddafi. That does
not mean that we should start supporting the tyrant. After
42 years of tyranny even the Pharoah would have retired!
Remember that the only force which can bring independence,
unity and prosperity to Africa is Islam. After all, most
Africans are Muslims. The idea that Black Africans should
unite is an American idea. It rings true in America because
race is a fundamental problem here. It cannot be a source of
unity in Africa because it negates the history of Africa as
a Muslim continent.
The heroes of Africa, Tariq bin Ziyad, Yusuf bin Tashfeen,
Osman dan Fodio, Asma the woman leader, were all Islamic,
not based on race or color.

Outreach to 100 immigrant Muslims
Jamaat al-Muslimeen Literature Distributed in east Baltimore
Mosque
On June 17, after Juma' prayers at Masjid Noor in eastern
Baltimore, JAM literature was given to 100 Muslims, mostly
from Egypt, Syria and Iraq as well as some from Pakistan and
India.
The literature included Imam Badi Ali's Spotlights urging
Muslims to learn to separate injustice from difference and
to know that "democracy" is a fake name for the rule of the
rich and the powerful.
One page urged Muslims to boycott IKEA furniture company for
supporting Israel. The bombing of Libya by NATO was
condemned along with the Syrian tyrant's atrocities.
Another page summarized Dr. Siddique's latest khutba urging
US Muslim mosques to become hard core centers of Allah-based
peaceful resistance to tyranny and infiltration.
Brief reports on Jamaate Islami Pakistan's mass rally
[dharna] in Karachi against US drones and supplies to NATO
were also included along with new Pak Taliban attacks and
Afghan Taliban guerrilla fighting. The chant of "Muslim
world is rising up" was repeated during the
distribution.

Saudi Women Ramp Up Protests, Defying Driving Ban Is the
next frontier in the so-called Arab Spring. Saudi Arabia's
women? That's the question right now as women's rights
activists are calling for mass protests and a "mutiny"
against rules that allow only men to drive cars. Today, June
17th, is the culmination of months of activism. Al Jazeera
reports: "We want women from today to begin exercising their
rights,'' Wajeha al-Huwaidar, a Saudi women's rights
activist, said. She has posted internet clips of herself
driving in 2008. "Today on the roads is just the opening in
a long campaign," she said. "We will not go back.''

Surprise visit to Swat: [Report by Amjad Shamsuddin.]
In Pakistan: Islamic Victory Coming through Peaceful
Means
Munawar Hasan challenges Military claims of Victory in Swat
& Malakand
Cites extra-judicial killings by the military
LAHORE, June 13: The Jamaat e Islami chief, Syed Munawar
Hasan, has said that the JI did not believe in change
through under ground activities or armed struggle and was
striving for a grand revolution by building up public
opinion through constitutional, democratic and peaceful
means.
Addressing a huge gathering at the Darul Uloom Haqqania, at
Swat on Monday he expressed the hope that the JI would
achieve its goal very soon and pave way for political
stability and economic progress in the country with the
establishment of the divine way of life enshrined in the
Holy Quran and the Sunnah.
He pointed out that the Islamic movement in Turkey had
achieved success through sustained, peaceful and democratic
struggle. Therefore, the JI workers and leaders should not
be impatient and should continue their efforts for moulding
public opinion and also organize the masses.
Syed Munawar Hasan said that military operation was creating
a distance between the masses and the armed forces which was
highly detrimental to the national interest.
He said if the armed forces' claim of having cleared Swat
and Malakand division was correct, why were the troops not
being with drawn from there. He said the independent print
and electronic media should be allowed in these areas to dig
out the facts. He said according to his information, there
was serious human rights violations in Swat and Malakand
division and people were being killed in extra judicial
manners. .
Referring to the Afghanistan situation, the JI chief said
that the NATO and US forces, armed to the teeth with latest
arms and ammunition and latest technology, could not
overpower the Afghans in the last ten years. The JI, he
said, had believed from the very beginning that Afghanistan
would become the graveyard of Socialism and Communism. And
now, Afghanistan would also become the graveyard of US
imperialism, its Capitalist system and its latest
technology.
The JI chief said, Allah Almighty had blessed the Muslim
world with abundant resources but the rulers in the 57
Muslim countries were US puppets and the Muslim world's
resources were being used against the Muslims masses.
Therefore, the Muslim masses would have to bring forward
honest and Islam loving leadership to get out of the Present
crisis.
Syed Munawar Hasan said that the Pakistani rulers would have
to pull out of the so called war on terror being fought
under the US leadership and frame an independent foreign
policy in the light of the parliament's resolution.
He said that India's [intelligence service] RAW and the US
CIA were destabilizing Baluchistan while India was also
sending suicide bombers in the country through Afghanistan
and also doling out money among its agents.
He said that drone attacks were continuing despite the
parliament resolution. Therefore, the government should
immediately stop NATO supplies.
Taliban Attack Police HQ near Karzai's Palace
June 18: Three Taliban mujahedin broke through tight
security in Kabul to attack a police station near where
Karzai spoke about his claims of peace with Taliban. The
Karzai regime suffered 9 killed in the attack, or so it
claims. The real losses may be much higher.
Thirty Three NATO Troops Killed So far in June
Hit and run Taliban attacks are continuing across
Afghanistan. Since our last report, ten more NATO troops
have been killed [according to western sources] raising the
NATO death toll for June's 16 days to 33.

Bin Laden deputy Zawahri takes over as Qaeda leader
REUTERS
Reuters US Online Report Top News
Jun 16, 2011 05:33 EDT
DUBAI (Reuters) - Veteran militant Ayman al-Zawahri has
taken command of al Qaeda after the killing of Osama bin
Laden, an Islamist website said on Thursday, a move widely
expected following his long years as second-in-command.
Bin Laden's lieutenant and the brains behind much of al
Qaeda's strategy, Zawahri vowed this month to press ahead
with al Qaeda's campaign against the United States and its
allies.
"The general leadership of al Qaeda group, after the
completion of consultation, announces that Sheikh Dr. Ayman
Zawahri, may God give him success, has assumed
responsibility for command of the group," the Islamic
website Ansar al-Mujahideen (Followers of the Holy Warriors)
said in a statement.
The bespectacled Zawahri had been seen as bin Laden's most
likely successor after the man held responsible for the
September 11, 2001 attacks in New York and Washington was
shot dead by U.S. commandos in Pakistan 45 days ago.
In a video message posted on the internet on June 8, Zawahri
said al Qaeda would continue to fight.
"The Sheikh (bin Laden) has departed, may God have mercy on
him, to his God as a martyr, and we must continue on his
path of jihad to expel the invaders from the land of Muslims
and to purify it from injustice," Zawahri said.
Zawahri called this year's Arab uprisings a disaster for
Washington because, he said, they would remove Arab leaders
who were the corrupt "agents of America."
He also pledged allegiance to the leader of the Afghan
Taliban, Mullah Omar, calling him "Emir of the
Believers."
The pledge, which repeats one made by bin Laden in the
1990s, was seen by analysts as an attempt to shore up al
Qaeda's alliance with the Taliban, which sheltered the
Arab-led group until U.S. attacks on Afghanistan in 2001
ended Taliban rule.
Western powers have demanded the Taliban cut all ties with
al Qaeda.
"Today, and thanks be to God, America is not facing an
individual or a group ... but a rebelling nation which has
awoken from its sleep in a jihadist renaissance challenging
it wherever it is," Zawahri said.
Why are some Muslims so happy with the West?
by Shamim Siddiqui [Long Island, New York]
[This was written in reply to a person who claimed that
Muslims in the West are happier than those in Muslim
countries.]
Kindly try to understand the paradox. A Muslim, when he is
no longer a truthful Muslim or just remains Muslim in name,
becomes the traditional Muslim, just as Jews and Christians
are "Muslim" though they all have left their original name
"Muslim" and follow some traditions only of the Abrahamic
faith.
So when they all start sailing on the same boat of nominal
Muslim, they become happy, they don't feel accountable to
anyone, irrespective of the fact whether they are in
Pakistan, India, Honolulu, London, Washington or Peking or
HK.
When a Muslim lives, acts and behaves like a Muslim and
fulfills the mission of life, such a Muslim will always be
truly, not materially, happy. It matters little to him
where he is and what he is doing. His mission in life
makes him a conscious Muslim and he is happy to invite
others to the Deen of Allah . That is his pleasure and he
will be happy with it wherever he/she will be.
I Hope this will explain your quandary and paradox.
