Free Marshall Eddie Conway Rally
Time : Monday, May 9 · 4:00pm - 5:00pm
Location :
Baltimore City Hall
100 N. Holliday Street
Baltimore, MD
This is a rally for Marshall Eddie Conway, Black Panther
leader unjustly imprisoned for the last 41 years.
Why at the Baltimore City Hall?
The City Council passed such a resolution in 2001. We, who
support freedom for this innocent political prisoner, are
pressing for a reissuance of this resolution, as part of a
larger campaign to free Eddie.
We will gather in front of City Hall at 4:00 PM. Then, at
5:00 PM, some of us will go inside, while others will
continue to rally outside the building. An ID is required to
enter City Hall. No signs are allowed inside City Hall.
Sponsored by:
National Action Network, Greater Baltimore Metropolitan
Chapter; NAACP Baltimore City Branch; The Paul Robeson
Institute; Muslim Community Cultural Center of Baltimore;
National Black United Front; Generations for Peace and
Democracy; SCLC, Baltimore City Chapter; All People's
Congress; A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition Baltimore; Leaders of a

Rally at World Bank in Support of El Salvador's People
On May 2, Jamaat al-Muslimeen participated in a rally
organized by Cispes at the World Bank, 18th & H street near
George Washington University. [Cispes is the Committee in
Solidarity with the People of El Salvador.] Here is an
excerpt from the report on the event.
... And one more clip from the rally at the IMF. If you are
not familiar with Salvadoran history, please educate
yourself. The similarities between the U.S. role in El
Salvador during the 1980s is very similar to that of the
U.S. in Iraq today (although, in the former case, short of
overt occupation). The U.S. undermined democracy, destroyed
infrastructure, and created terror amongst the poor peasants
and workers.
Death squads were rampant, as they are in Iraq today.
Salvadoran people won back some basic rights when the FMLN
(former guerrilla front) won elections, but U.S.
corporations, like Pacific Rim, which we protested on
Monday, want to continue the looting of El Salvador through
other means.

Spotlight on Shaykh Osama bin Laden by Imam Badi Ali
Why do the Muslims love him? Propaganda won't work.
#1: We must understand why Muslims globally love Osama. Why
do the Muslims reject all propaganda against him? He is not
only a hero but someone much greater, somewhat like
Salahuddin, the liberator of Jerusalem.
#2: At least 30 countries, including the US, Israel, France,
Britain, Hosni's Egypt, Jordan's Abdallah, etc., used all
their resources against Osama for 10 years. They were
fighting a man who had no jets or tanks or armies and they
couldn't win for 10 years. Celebrations of victory against
him are self deception.
#3: Osama spread his ideology across the globe. An ideology
can only be defeated by another ideology. His enemies don't
have one. Jets and tanks and special forces cannot do it.
With his death, his ideology will spread even more
rapidly.
#4: His burial at sea is a travesty. Which Islamic school of
thought teaches a burial at sea? Where did the Americans get
that fatwa for burial at see? Can they mention any books?
Scholars around the world, including al-Azhar, have
denounced the burial at sea. Where did Obama get this idea.
The British Imperialists never did this. The Nazis are so
hated but they never did it. His body belonged to his
family. We'll have to call the Indian Ocean "the ocean of
Osama."
#5: Why is Osama important? His influence is all the way
from Chechnya to Bosnia, Philippines, Yemen, Sudan,
Pakistan, northern Africa... He was even respected by
governments who did not agree with him.
#6: He was like a father to Muslims. His shoes cannot be
filled by another because he was not national. He was
international and he cannot be diminished by Zionist
propaganda.
#7: Attempts to trivialize him will not work. There are many
holes in the stories American media are distributing. First
they said his house was a $1 million. It turns out it was
only $100,000. These videos being put out will not erode his
dignity. Here was a man living without air conditioning, no
fridge, no stoves. The claim that he used as a woman as a
shield was entirely fabricated. Intelligent Americans like
Michael Moore are not convinced.
Radio Interview
Osama bin Laden and the latest developments in Pakistan:
Unforeseen Consequences
On May 7, 12.30 PM, Dr. Kaukab Siddique was interviewed
live for the "On with Leon Show" by Dr. Wilmer Leon. Dr.
Leon can be heard on XM Radio across America. He is one of
the few independent broadcasters in the US willing to listen
to Muslim viewpoints. The interview lasted 30 minutes. Here
is a summary of the main points made by Dr. Siddique.
-
Much is not known of what happened in Abbottabad, Pakistan,
on May 1. Based on what we have till now, we can say the
following:
 -
Osama bin Laden appears to have fooled both the Pakistani
government and the US intelligence services for a very long
time by hiding "in plain sight."
 -
Most Americans and Pakistanis do not know that the Pakistani
regime had agreed to give the US permission to use Pakistani
air and land space without requiring prior permission.
 -
The Raymond Davis case showed that a US intelligence
officer, armed, could move about in Pakistan quite freely.
He was caught only because he killed two Pakistanis in broad
daylight, only to be bailed out by the US inspite of the
public uproar.
 -
There were reports that some US drone attacks on Pakistani
villages in the north east originated WITHIN Pakistan. Thus
the US had free rein to use Pakistani space.
 -
The US has the technological ability to scope out entire
cities and territories. It was this technological skill
which finally traced Osama's last place of refuge.
 -
Don't blame the Pakistani government. It is totally corrupt
and run by the US. Don't blame the Pakistani army. They are
made-in-America and would have handed over Osama in a flash.
They are incompetent or Osama was too clever for them.
 -
The Pakistani intelligence chief has been summoned to the US
to explain the incompetence.
 -
The loyalty of Osama's people appears to have played an
important role in his survival for so many years.
Apparently, none of them wanted the $25 million on his head.
A young woman, unarmed, reportedly gave her life for him. It
is said by US sources that she RUSHED the navy seals and was
killed. His wife shielded him and was shot, reports say.
 -
The incompetence of the Pakistani army in not discovering
Osama living so near their premier military academy has
unnerved the Pakistan secular ruling elite. How would such
an army face an attack by India, they ask?
 -
A wedge of suspicion has been driven between Pakistani and
US intelligence. Important elements of the US power
structure are voicing alarm over the possibility, if not
probability, that Pakistani intelligence was cooperating
with al-Qaida.
 -
My analytical understanding is that such disloyalty by the
Pakistani leadership to the US would be unthinkable and even
suicidal owing to the military's dependence on the US.
 -
Our listeners should ponder the price of vengeance. The US
has spent $1.3 trillion in finding and killing Osama. [Dr.
Leon interjected that he has seen a figure above $3
trillion.]. On the trail of vengeance, 30,452 people have
been killed in Pakistan. In the same process, the US lost
more than 6,000 of its military personnel in Iraq and
Afghanistan.
 -
Our Christian listeners should ponder what, Jesus, pbuh,
said about enemies: "...I tell you, love your enemies and
pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children
of your Father in heaven." [Matthew 5:44-45.] St. Paul
explained that message vividly: "Do not take revenge, my
friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written:'
It is mine to avenge;I will repay, says the Lord.' On the
contrary:if your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is
thirsty, give him something to drink." [Romans 12:19-20]
 -
By going into a Muslim country and killing Osama in his
home, it appears from Pakistani news reports, that the US
has put its hand into the hornet's next. Pakistan is
seething with protest and anger in every town and city.
 -
I do not know of ANY Islamic leader who was ever buried at
sea. According to Islamic law he should have been buried in
the area where he was killed [unless he left a will stating
otherwise]. The US is inadvertently admitting in the sea
burial that Osama is extremely popular and a land burial
would have becomr a shrine.
 -
The immediate burial too is not absolutely required under
Islamic law. Three days would be okay.
 -
The sea burial and the hurry to get rid of the body will
fuel conspiracy theories which have already deflected
Americans from the reality that the US is at war.
Letter: Call him Shaheed-e-Abbottabad
Mohtram Kaukab Bhai, ASA
It is 2:10 Am. I was sleeping and then got up to the
realization that OBL is not killed. He is alive. He is
Shaheed and Shaheed do not die. America has made him AMAR.
He got his best desire fulfilled by Allah (SWT). He is the
most successful man of this earth. He got the real Shahada,
fighting in the way of Allah only for the pleasure of the
Lord of this cosmos.
You can give the caption of "SHAHEED-E- Abbottabad" to the
forthcoming issue of NT. It would be the best tribute to his
memories and to your tireless fighting against Zalimeen of
this world.
He was innocent. Mullah Omar, the Amir of the Islamic
State of Afghanistan repeatedly asked the USA to send his
crime list and he will put OBL to trial and punish him, if
found guilty but America always refused to do so. It could
not establish any charge against.OBL but killed him blindly
just out of arrogance, pride and obstinacy of tyrants for
its false prestige.
May Allah bless you and give Barakah in your efforts and
Rizq.

Munawar Hasan calls for Unity against Aggression. [Source:

Islamic Protest Rallies Across Pakistan on Three Points:
-
Condemnation of US Military Intervention in
Pakistan.
 -
Martyrdom of Shaikh Osama bin Laden
 -
Slave-like and degraded Condition of Pakistan's
rulers.

On May 6, at the call of Jamaate Islami's ameer, Syed
Munawar Hasan, protestors rallied in every Pakistani city
and town, and Jamaate Islami leaders addressed the crowds on
the above three points.
In Lahore, Syed Munawar Hasan addressed a huge juma' prayer
gathering in Mansoora. He said that martyrdom is the desire
of the Muslim. If one Osama has been martyred, new Osamas
are rising up all over the world. America's attempts to
attack Islam and Muslims will not end terrorism but will
spread the fire of hate and disgust around the Muslim
world.
Hasan ridiculed the Pakistani army's statement that next
time we will not let it happen. He said that that Pakistanis
have fed the army with their sweat and blood: the results
they are getting are disappointing. The army is behaving
like the puppet politicians and this weak response has
emboldened India which is boasting of trying to raid
Pakistani cities.
Hasan urged the Muslim masses to come out of their homes and
carry out a peaceful revolution: Private grief and anger
will not change anything, he concluded.
After the prayers, thousands of people rallied on Multan
road and were addressed by Dr. Farid Piracha, Nazir Ahmed
Janjua, Zikrullah Mujahid and Abdul Aziz Abid. Scores of
anti-American banners were displayed. Dr. Piracha warned
America not to think that Pakistani people are similar to
the sold out rulers of Pakistan. He said, Pakistanis wil
defeat the aggressive designs of the US and India.
In Peshawar, a large procession came out of Masjid Mahabat
Khan and was addressed by Shabbir Ahmed Khan, Secretary
General of JI in Frontier Province [now called
Pakhtunkhwa].
In Abbottabad itself, where US forces martyred Osama, a
protest rally was addressed by JI's ameer for Frontier
Province, Prof. Ibraheem khan as well as JI leaders from
Abbottabad.
In Karachi a huge protest rally was held on Empress road and
was addressed by Karachi JI ameer Muhammad Hussain Mehnati
and JI's national deputy ameer Prof. Ghafoor Ahmed.
In Multan, demonstrators gathered in front of the Press club
and were addressed by Ameer of Multan JI Prof. Iftikhar
Choudhury and Dr. Hafeez Anwar.
In Rawalpindi thousands gathered in front of the Press Club
and were addressed on the three points by Sajjad Ahmed
Abbasi, JI ameer for the greater Rawalpindi area, Shamsur
Rahman Swati, JI's local Secretary General and Rizwan Ahmed,
ameer of JI Rawalpindi city.
In Quetta, protestors were addressed by Mian Maqsood Ahmed,
Deputy Secretary General of Jamaate Islami.
Smaller gatherings were addressed on the three points by
local JI leaders in the towns of Kharan, Ziarat, Turbat,
Wander, Bela, Hub and Noshki.
Muslims in Kashmir, led by Geelani, declare Shaikh Osama
Shaheed. Prayers for him in every city.
by Wasim Khalid.
Srinagar, May 6: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali
Shah Geelani, on Friday led funeral prayers in absentia of
the slain Al-Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden Shaheed at
Batamaloo here. Funeral prayers for Osama were also held at
various other places across the valley on the call of
Geelani. Special prayers were also held for Osama in many
masjids.
The Hurriyat (G) leader was put under house arrest by the
authorities and his movement was crippled by a contingent of
police deployed outside his Hyderpora residence this
morning. However, later the authorities wavered on the
decision and Geelani was allowed to offer the prayers.
After Geelani along with hundreds of people offered the
funeral prayers outside the Batamaloo Shrine, he described
Osama bin Laden as a martyr.
"We are concerned about the killing and offer our
condolences," Geelani said while addressing the gathering.
"After he was martyred and buried in the sea, the Muslims
and Muslim scholars around the world are angry and expressed
their anguish and expressed disappointment. It has hurt
Muslim sensibilities throughout the world. The scholars have
also urged for leading the in-absentia prayers of the
martyr. We have also done the same," the veteran leader
said.
He said many "power drunken" nations of the world are using
their army, sophisticated war machinery and modern
technology to impose there hegemony on the weaker
people.
"I strongly urge that strength and power should be acquired
by the God fearing people by hard work and dedication,"
Geelani said. "Only then peace will come in the world."
He stressed that for peaceful world, it is imperative that
Palestine,
Chechnya should be granted freedom and western forces should
leave Afghanistan and Iraq. "And there should be end of
illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir," he said.
"Peace will remain elusive till India does not withdraw its
troops and
implement United Nations resolutions," Geelani said. "If
they say people are participating in the voting process, it
is high time right to
self-determination should be implemented. Wherever majority
will vote, the decision will be respected."
Geelani had appealed to Imams across the Kashmir Valley and
the people to offer funeral prayers of Osama Shaheed after
the Friday prayers.
He also demanded that all the youth and political prisoners
should be released with immediate effect. Geelani also spoke
abut his continuous house detention and said he was forcibly
detained at his residence and his movement was being
restricted.
Referring to Pakistan, Geelani said it was the only Islamic
country with the nuclear power. "The country is surrounded
on all sides by the dangerous forces who want it should give
up the nuclear weapons. It's a larger conspiracy to weaken
the Islamic nation. I appeal people to pray for Pakistan so
that it comes out of these difficult times. We should pray
for the safety and prosperity of Pakistan."
Lastly, while speaking on the social issues in Kashmir, he
said the
co-education system in valley should be stopped. "There
should be separate schools, colleges and universities for
the women folk," Geelani said.
Following the speech, the area resonated with slogans like
"We want freedom" and "Go India Go Back." The authorities
deployed many contingents of policemen and CRPF personnel on
law and order duties.
Soon after, large groups of youth while raising slogans
started pelting stones on the police. The police retaliated
by chasing them and hurling stones. One civilian was
ruthlessly beaten in Batamaloo Chowk by the security
personnel. The pitched battles continued till late
evening.
Sensing trouble, reinforcements were called in. Senior
police officers also arrived at the spot to take stock of
the situation.
Meanwhile, Chairman Democratic Freedom Party, Shabir Ahmad
Shah, also led in absentia prayers of Osama at Iqra Mosque
Saraibala here. He said Al Qaeda chief was against the
enslavement of Muslim politics and religion.
"So it's incumbent for every Muslim to offer his funeral
prayers," Shah
said. "After he was martyred in custody, his burial in the
sea was disgrace
to Muslim sensibilities. It was an act of cowardice."
Shah said Osama was not just a name of a person but he
represented an
ideology which rarely dies with the person.
"He was a very rich man. He left his luxurious life for the
benefit of
Muslims," he added.
The in absentia prayers for Osama were offered at many
places like Nowgam, Samundarbagh, Sopore, Bandipora, Pulwama
and south Kashmir.
Indian Muslims in Channai Declare Osama a Martyr
PTI adds from Chennai: Funeral prayers were held in a mosque
here for slain al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden Shaheed and
its Imam slammed the US for 'inhumanly' killing and burying
him in the sea.
"America killed him inhumanly and left his body in the sea
without
performing Janazah. So, we conducted Janazah (funeral
prayer) for him,"
Moulana Shamsudeen Qasimi, the Imam of Makkah Masjid in Anna
Salai, said.
Asked whether they had sought permission from police, the
Imam said "it was conducted inside the mosque. We need
police permission only if it was conducted in a public
place."
Iraq: First Retaliatory Attack for Osama
May 5: According to Reuters, al-Qaida carried out the first
retaliatory attack for Osama bin Laden in Iraq. A car bomber
rammed his vehicle filled with explosives into the police
headquarters in Hilla city, killing 21 policemen and
wounding 80. Forces are on high alert after receiving
threats to revenge Osama.
Afghanistan: Kandahar City Paralyzed by Taliban Attacks
May 7: According to the BBC, six explosions rocked the city
of Kandahar . This was followed by machine gun fire as
Taliban fighters attacked government offices up and down the
city. The administration seems to have collapsed but it
might have been hit and run raids, not an attempt to take
over.
Egypt: Muslims Attempt to Free Woman Convert to Islam.
Battle follows.
May 7: Nearly 500 salafi Muslims rallied at a Coptic church
in Cairo, demanding that a woman who converted to Islam and
was being held against her will in the church be released.
Witnesses told BBC that the Copts opened fire on the
protestors and then both sides fought with guns and rocks.
At least 5 people were killed and dozens injured.
Egyptian troops with tanks intervened to end the fighting.
Our observers say, the Copts became very powerful under
Hosni Mubarak's anti-Islam regime.
Letter: Compliments on our Hadith Blog
As-Salaam Elekum Brother!
Your first segment / article for the new blog explaining
Hadith was well-written and the content was clear and
focused on essential issues.
Thanks for filling in for a "need of the hour" response to
anti-Islam rhetoric of the West. Also this issue needs to be
tackled because even many Muslims who profess their
dedication to Hadith are often as ignorant of Hadith as they
are of the content and essence of the Qur'anic Message. They
are able to pay only lip service to the Hadith due to lack
of "real" "educated" knowledge of its content. They appear
to be using Hadith as a tactic just "to belong" in a
"clanish" sort of way, to lay their claim as better
"Muslims" among Muslims and in the process they create
further fragmentations in the Ummah by putting negative
labels on "other" Muslims. I have seen this in action over
and over again.
The impact of several centuries of western colonizers'
attempts to destroy the power inherent in Islam through
anti-Islamic propaganda and attack on the Qur'an and Hadith
has led to fragmentation of Islamic cultures across the
globe which continues to this day.
I believe that your blog deserves to get published in book
form and, inshallah, will be of help to all English
speaking readers.
Keep up the good work!
As-Salaam Elekum!

Letter: Comment on Syrian Army's Attack on Mosque
As-Salâm 'alaykum wa-Rahmatullâhi wa-Barakâtuhu,
"Attacked the Omari mosque in Deraa and occupied it?" Are
these people Muslims? What, exactly, do they believe will
happen to them on the "Day of Which There is No Doubt?" Do
you think that they even believe in That Day?
