Verse of the Week
What! Do you make (one who undertakes) the giving of drink
to the pilgrims and the guarding of the Sacred Mosque like
him who believes in Allah and the latter day and strives
hard in Allah's way? They are not equal with Allah; and
Allah does not guide the unjust people.
Those who believed and fled (their homes), and strove hard
in Allah's way with their property and their souls, are much
higher in rank with Allah; and those are they who are the
achievers (of their objects).
Their Lord gives them good news of mercy from Himself and
(His) good pleasure and gardens, wherein lasting blessings
shall be theirs;
Abiding therein for ever; surely Allah has a Mighty reward
with Him.
Holy Qur'an 9:19-22
Submitted by Sis. Abigail.
From Jamaat al-Muslimeen Shoora Leader, Imam Badi Ali (North
Carolina)
SPOTLIGHT #1
I like freedom and I like this country, America, because of
the freedom; but I know that with this freedom comes
darkness. I also know that all the darkness cannot put out
the light of one candle. And the darkness of the entire
universe cannot put out the light of Islam.
A MESSAGE TO Tariq Ramadan:
1. The only deen with Allah is Islam, which means the Qur'an
and the authentic Sunnah. There is no choice here for
Muslims..you either accept it or you don't. We do know that
there is a school in Egypt where an attack on the Sunnah is
being developed and it is being supported by America.
2. Islam is the final message of Allah Almighty to all
people, including Christians, Jews, and Hindus. It
supercedes all previous messages. It is not equivalent to
them.
3. The Qur'an mentions revealed books, including the Torah,
the Injeel, Zabur, the Revelation to Abraham, and the
Qur'an. But the Qur'an says that all of these books have
been tampered with except for the Qur'an. We believe in all
of them, as they were revealed originally, but because of
the tampering, they cannot be compared to the Qur'an.
4. If the Prophets (pbut) were alive today, they would all
follow Muhammad (pbuh). As we see, Allah took this pledge
from them in Prophet Muhammad's (pbuh) journey known as the
Isra. Muhammad (pbuh) led all the Prophets in prayer in the
Al-Aqsa Mosque. According to the rules of prayer, the one
who's home it is, leads the prayer. Thus, Al-Aqsa in
Jerusalem is the Prophet's home. It cannot be given to
Israel or it's supporters. It is sacred.
5. The term 'infidel' or 'kafir' is from the Qur'an; there
is no intention in this term to harm anyone, but it defines
those who are not believers. There is no reason the be
ashamed of using this word.
6. The Qur'an and the Hadith are not open to "reform" or
"change" nor are they available for negotiations. Such
ideas to reform the texts of Islam is from the school of our
enemies. Neither Tariq Ramadan, nor any other celebrity has
the right to come forth with such suggestions.
7. We are commanded to disconnect from kufr and shirk. Mr.
Ramadan, what is your purpose in saying that you want
Muslims to come nearer to kufr and shirk?
And when you see those who enter into false discourses about
Our communications, withdraw from them until they enter into
some other discourse, and if the Shaitan causes you to
forget, then do not sit after recollection with the unjust
people. Holy Qur'an 6:68

next issue. Re: His love affair with the State Department of

PERSONAL: New Trend Editor's visit to Chicago on June 5.
Talking to my upper class relatives
It was my niece's graduation from High School. The family is
very highly educated and scholarly. They are kind and
compassionate and generous to all. They are aware of the
tribulations of the Muslim world and, best of all, they are
religious, spiritual and Godfearing with healthy influences
from sufiism.
With such wonderful people, I often wonder what can I say to
them which they don't already know. The food was delicious
and sumptuous. Much of it could not be consumed, so it was
thoughtfully donated to the big mosque in the area.
The speeches were instructive, focusing on education and the
manifestations of Allah in things of beauty. Poetry was
recited in Urdu praising Allah and His Prophet, peace and
blessings be on him. The poetry, seemingly influenced by
Iqbal, reflected the deep love of Muhammad, pbuh, which is
part of the Islamic psyche.
After much trepidation, I made the following points in my
presentation [summarized here]:
-
Immigrants usually want to assimilate into the American
mainstream. This is a big loss for the Muslim world. Instead
we should learn about migration's significance from the
Hijra of Muhammad, pbuh, when he left Makkah for
Madinah.
 -
Immigrants bring with them a global perspective which can
help the local people of America to see the world in a more
generous view. They should not give up this global view.
 -
A global view is easy with the technology we now possess.
America is not the world. My visits to Africa helped me to
understand that realities other than those of America are
extremely valuable.
 -
Some of the most activist sahaba [companions] of the
Prophet, pbuh, including Ali, r.a., and Ayesha, r.a., were
very young. The narrators of large numbers of Hadith [such
as Abdullah ibn 'Umar, r.a] were also very young. Islam is a
dynamic way of life in which young people play a key
role.
 -
Personal responsibility is the requirement for each Muslim.
It does not matter if the whole world is going in a
different direction, we must go in the Direction Allah
Almighty has shown us. If we don't, we will lose our value
as human beings and become part of the lost crowd.

Radio Interview about Turkish Ship, Israel and Helen
Thomas.
Extreme Censorship in the White House Press Corp.
On June 9, 2010 Br. Hodari Abdul-'Ali on radio WPFW
interviewed Dr. Kaukab Siddique at 7 in the morning. This
program reaches Washington DC commuters during the rush
hour. This city has numerous activists and WPFW is
progressive and friendly to Islam [probably the only
Islam-friendly program in the area].
Br. Hodari, as his friends call him, is a distinguished
African American leader famous for his role as a peace
activist in the efforts to stop conflict in Sudan.
Br. Siddique recited this verse from the Qur'an with
reference to US media and power structure:
"O Believers! When an evil doer comes to you with any news,
scrutinize and analyze it, lest you harm people unwittingly
and afterwards become full of repentance for what you have
done." 49:6
Here is a summary of the answers Br. Siddique gave to Br.
Hodari's questions:
-
American audiences cannot know much about the situation in
occupied Palestine owing to corporate control of the
media.
 -
Incredible as it might seem to outsiders, US media have been
telling Americans that Israelis were the victims in the
"incident" related to the Turkish ship.
 -
US media have shown the flotilla attack through the eyes of
Israeli terrorist Netanyahoo and US Senator Lieberman.
 -
The latest Israeli piracy against Rachel Corrie, an Irish
ship, has been so well censored by the US media that
Americans can't know who was Rachel Corrie, an American
woman who gave her life to save Palestinian homes from an
Israeli bulldozer.
 -
The swift removal of Helen Thomas because of her
off-the-cuff remarks questioning Israel's legitimacy
indicates that the White House and its press corp have
institutionalized censorship when it comes to Israel. This
country is helpless in the Jewish-Zionist stranglehold.
 -
Israel is complicit with the US in the sanctions which have
been imposed on Sudan, Somalia and Hamas. The media do not
tell America that Sudan, Hamas and the Somalis are not
fighting America. Everything is shown in USA through the
lens of Jewish-Zionism.
 -
Muslims are not against Jews as a race or a religion but
for their deeds. In fact we gave them refuge and compassion
for centuries. However, they have grabbed Palestine by force
of arms and are concealing their crimes against humanity
with the help of the US media and government.
 -
There are "good" Jews who criticize Israel but this
criticism is against Israeli atrocities, not against
Israel's legitimacy. Helen Thomas got into trouble because
she questioned Israel's legitimacy.

Letter from a Turkish American Leader and Teacher about
Turkish Martyrs
May Allah (swt) bless Brs. Khalid Zaman, Erdogan Gurman and
Kaukab Siddique who have circulated information on the
Flotilla martyrs. I am disappointed with the local masjids
and centers that have spoken very lightly or have remained
silent about these murders. Some of the national Islamic
organizations, with the exception of Jamaat Al-Muslimeen,
did not strongly condemn the murder of Turkish humanitarians
at the hands of Israeli pirates.
To place more salt on the wound, "Imam" Fetullah Gulen
criticized the mission by stating, "Why didn't they get
permission from Israel?" as quoted by the Wall Street
Journal . However, the facts are that the murders took place
in international waters, that Israel's blockade is illegal
and that Israel has no right to stop aid from reaching
Gaza. I was perplexed by Gulen's contradictory statement on
this tragedy. His criticism directly contradicts his TV
channel, Samanyolu, in Turkey. Samanyolu described the
attacks correctly and labeled it as murder in international
waters. I was proud of Samanyolu's courage to defend the
right and criticize the wrong. The question arises, of
course providing that Wall Street quoted Gulen Hoja
correctly; which stand is reflecting the Gulen Movement's
position? Samanyolu TV or Gulen's interview with the Wall
Street Journal. In the past, some of his followers claimed
that most of these types of contradictory statements do not
belong to him. In any case, if the Wall Street quoted
incorrectly, the staff of Gulen Hoja has the obligation to
correct the interview. Otherwise, it will be a stain on his
image in Turkey and the Muslim world.
Gulen Hoja not only contradicted Samanyolu, but contradicted
Turkish Prime Minister Tayip Erdogan and Foreign Minister
Ahmet Davudoglu. The Prime Minister and Foreign Minister's
positions were clear that the Israeli action is banditry,
piracy and act of murder. Turkey took some concrete actions
against the Israeli government:
-
Turkey canceled three planned military exercises with
Israel. These exercises are very important for Israel;
according to military experts the Israeli pilots were
exercising a flight simulation to attack Iran's nuclear
facilities.

The Manavgat Water Project and Natural Gas Project to
Israel has been halted.
Turkey will seek compensation for the families who lost
their loved ones.
The Turkish Prime Minister stated that the relationship
between Turkey and Israel will never return to the previous
status.
Furthermore, Turkey demands that Israel lift the illegal
Gaza blockade. The Prime Minister gave assurances that
Turkey will not abandon the people of Gaza and took a
position contrary to the US and Israel. According to the
Prime Minister of Turkey, the Hamas Government is not a
terrorist but a liberation organization legally elected into
leadership. The Hamas government is defending their people's
rights. He reminded everyone that Hamas came into power
through a democratic election certified by UN observers. Let
us pray to Almighty Allah that the plight of the people of
Gaza will be resolved soon.
In the US level, many of these so called Muslim leaders and
organizations are quick to issue fatwas, condemn and
apologize for any "unacceptable" actions by some Muslims.
Yet, it is ironic when a crime against Muslims is committed
by Israeli forces, the champions of the apology and fatwa
issuers are silent or mildly criticizing. It is surprising
that liberal Jews surpassed the many American Muslim leaders
in their criticism of Israel. Muslim organizations are
cowering in fear instead of taking the mantle to defend the
blood of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for their
Muslim brothers and sisters in Gaza.
May Allah give Paradise for those martyrs who lost their
lives during the humanitarian mission to Gaza.
Suleyman Kurter
Please make dua today for these martyrs. May Allah (swt)
bless them with high stations in Paradise. Ameen.

Community News
Atlanta Community Coming Together to Protect and Help
Refugees from Muslim Africa
by Hadayai Majeed [Atlanta, Georgia]
Metro Atlanta is now a hub for refugees being brought into
America by national and international aid organizations. We
now have about 100 new Muslim arrivals in Atlanta mostly
placed in a townhome community in the city of Clarkston. The
Clarkston/Stone Mountain area former home of KKK in Georgia
is now a melting pot of people from various parts of the
globe. The area is 80% people from Somalia, Eritrea and
Tanzania, various pacific Island nations and south Asian
people now being seen in the area. The local college has
students who wear hijab and it is common. So common most
people do not stare or pay undue attention to Muslim
students in overgarments and other types of clothing
associated with Islam. These students are very active and
have done well in dawah in this area. This most recent
influx of refugees is bringing the Islamic community of
Atlanta together in a very positive manner. So far five
organizations and 10 people have signed on to assist
bringing aid to our brothers and sisters from aboard. This
communal response is crossing the lines of race, social
class and masjid/Islamic center associations. The Baitul
Salaam Network, Inc., a national domestic violence awareness
organizaiton is acting as the case manager for the project
assessing the needs of the families. Through interpreters
(two very smart Somalia girls) I have been able interview a
mother (widowed) with nine children. She sews and has
requested a sewing machine so she can sew make money and
clothe her children. Until very recently her children were
wearing clothing from the trash dumpters in their townhouse
community. So far two organizations have agreed to adopt
this family.
Brother Omar Dooma for years has worked with refugee
families on his own and through Muslim Social Services (a
struggling social service organization in the city). He has
established a relationship with the newcomers (our brothers
and sisters). They trust him. To date $100 has been raised,
three people have agreeded to teach English, Baitul Salaam
is providing some food, clothing and personal care items
(bath soap, deodorant), etc. Several business people have
purchased bikes, refrigerators and washing machines. The
Muslim Girl Scouts three troops in Stone Mountain have
collected food, personal care items that are being used to
help refugees and some being sent to Haiti. Next the Baitul
Salaam plans to our Micro Finance program and a business to
our brothers and sisters. We are giving them three months to
learn to speak English or improve on their English,
insh'Allah.
Anyone who is looking for a way to spend in charity this is
the project that you will see your charity dollars go to
work immediately to improve lives. All money donated
(unless raised for a specific need) is used for the refugees
to have the daily necessities (Surah Al Maun 107). A supply
drive is being hosted by the Women's Committee at Masjid Al
Farooq (one of Atlanta's largest and oldest Islamic
communities) through June 15. The items collected will be
used equally for our brothers and sisters who are new
(refugees) and victims/survivors of domestic abuse, next in
in priority is anyone who is in need in the community and
what we have left will go to Haiti, insh'Allah. We are sure
we can raise enough funds, collect enough supplies to meet
the need of all, insh'Allah. We do not plan to leave anyone
out, insh'Allah.
This new burst of compassion in the Islamic community in
metro Atlanta is leading to new relationships amoung
Muslims. Bringing the Islamic community together in ways not
seen in recent history and is strengthening Islam in metro
Atlanta. Our young people, not so young and children are all
involved.
If you want to give to this effort you can send your
donation to: Baitul Salaam Network, Inc., PO Box 115470,
Atlanta, GA 30310 or use paypal and send to
haleem1@aol.com

Massacre in Czechoslovakia: Newly Discovered Film Shows
Post-War Executions - SPIEGEL ONLINE - News -

Czech excesses immediately following the German surrender at

Police Unit Wiped out in Martyrdom Attack
June 9, 2010. Kandahar. A martyrdom operator hit a
police/militia unit during a police officer's wedding
ceremony. At least 40 police/militia were killed and 70
wounded in the huge explosion.
Police and militia units have been formulated by Karzai, the
ruler of Kabul, with the funds made available by the US. The
purpose seems to be to stabilize the US installed clique in
Kabul.
[US media presented the the martyrdom attack as an attack on
a marriage ceremony. Only AFP pointed out that the marriage
group, including the groom, were policemen.]
[Karzai's police forces are known for torture of Islamic
people and invasion of holy places.]
Battles Rage Across Afghanistan: Taliban killing NATO troops
at steady rate.
82 NATO in 40 days. 18 Taliban killed.
NATO is facing a deadly guerrilla offensive by Islamic
forces across Afghanistan. The Taliban are getting away with
minimal losses. Reports collected by western sources by
"icasualties" research group show that 51 elite NATO troops
were killed by the Taliban in May and 31 have been killed so
far by June 9. Most of them are Americans followed by
British, Canadian and Australian.
The latest western military technology is being used but the
Taliban are difficult to find because they have the support
of the population, particularly Afghan women.
Karzai latest jirga and efforts to divide the Taliban from
each other and from al-Qaida seem to have been a total
failure in spite of Saudi support.
US media have censored NATO losses as the Taliban gain the
upper hand.
NPR and finally Washington Post admitted that Taliban 'in
the hundreds' have returned to Marja where NATO had
proclaimed victory. [Latest, US admits that the Taliban shot
down a US military helicopter in Helmand province.]
Hadith Studies
Jewish Scholars Originated the Attacks on Hadith
by Kaukab Siddique, PhD
Allah's Word, the Qur'an, and the Prophet's words, the
Hadith, have always gone together. Be it Imam Bukhari or any
of our other great scholars, from Imam Abu Hanifa to Maulana
Maudoodi, all have put the Qur'an first, with the Prophet's
Hadith as its decisive interpretation.
The attack on the Hadith is not an Islamic endeavor. It was
a Christian missionary endeavor first but its greatest
scholars have been Jews. G.A. Pervez, etc, copied almost
verbatim from the Jews.
Ignaz Goldziher's Muhammedanische Studien was published in
1869 when the Muslim world had been colonized. Since then it
has appeared in English, first in bits and pieces and then
in complete translation. Parts of it have been published in
Urdu.
He was a Hungarian Jew from the Hebrew Congregation in the
city of Pec.
Just about all the views of G.A. Pervez and his fellows are
to be found in Goldziher's book. Protestant missionaries
like Samuel Zwemer and Temple Gairdner hailed Goldziher's
writings and tried to spread them to weak Muslim
intellectuals.
Here are some of the absurdities about Hadith spread by the
Pervezi fitna which are copied almost wholsale from
Goldziher and other Jews:
-
Hadith was transmitted orally, so it is not reliable.

The existing Hadith collections do not refer to earlier
collections, so there were no earlier collections. Thus
hadith BEGAN in the third century of Islam.
Why are hadith from young sahaba more in number than
those of older ones.?
ISNAD [chains of transmission] did not exist before the
first century, so must have been arbitrarily manufactured.
Many hadith contradict each other.
Both ISNAD and Hadith were forged.
Muslim scholars looked only at Isnad and not at the text
of the Hadith.
and on and on.
Goldziher's main point, which has affected just about all
the munkareene hadith, and was accepted in a very
sophisticated way by Dr. Fazlur Rahman, was as follows:
"The hadith will not seve as a document for the history of
the infancy of Islam, but rather as a reflection of the
tendencies which appeared in the community during the more
mature stages of its development.' (Muhammedanische Studien,
II, 5)
Goldziher's attack on Hadith was picked up and developed
further by another famous Jewish scholar, Joseph Schacht,
who published his outstanding book The Origins of Islamic
Jurisprudence in 1950, reprinted in 1964. He denounced ALL
of Hadith as a huge fraud and claimed that the Prophet
(pbuh) had no concern with SHARIA or Islamic Law, and that
Hadith related to law were inventions. He made a detailed
attack on ISNAD.
Again Schacht became hugely popular with the enemies of
Islam.
Thus when I wrote that those who are attacking Hadith are,
witting or unwitting, tools of the Jews, I was writing with
a full sense of responsibility.
[All these Jewish attacks have been refuted in detail, point
by point, by great Islamic scholars as well as by honest
non-Muslim scholars. They are only of interest now because
Pervezis among westernized Pakistanis living overseas have
started regurgitating these falsehoods in the hope that they
will spread among Muslims who have not taken the trouble to
STUDY the teachings of the Prophet, pbuh.]
[NABIA ABBOTT's research in the discovery of ACTUAL HADITH
WRITINGS on papyrus from the time of the Prophet (pbuh)
himself have made the argument that Hadith were not written
down, outdated. See Studies in Arabic Literary Papyri by
Abbott which appeared in 1957 but was ignored by the Pervezi
sect because it would destroy their entire Jewish-inspired
adventure. She followed it up by a series of other related
books in 1967, 1972, and 1983.]
