Hamid Mir: Top Pakistani journalist allegedly involved in
instigating the murder of Khalid Khawaja.
A tape has surfaced in Pakistan on which one can hear Hamid
Mir, a top Pakistani journalist, instigating a group which
seems to be a rogue off shoot of the Taliban or a group of
gangsters, to treat Khalid Khawaja as a spy. The tape has
been identified by several professional sources as
containing the voice of Hamid Mir. It is full of extreme
abuse, patent lies and inciteful distortions about Khalid
Khawaja. The great human rights activist was murdered after
this taped conversation . Hamid Mir also carried out abusive
attacks on Sis. Shamama, Khalid Khawaja's wife, accusing her
of a conspiracy to undermine the Red Mosque-Jamia Hafsa
seminary [which was attacked by General Musharraf].
This is what is known as a disinformation campaign. It
resulted in the murder of an Islamic hero Khalid Khawaja.
The Taliban leadership made a major attempt to save Khalid
Khawaja from the kidnapers but the taped conversation
indicates that he was condemned by the words of Hamid
Mir.
Hamid Mir is claiming that the voice on the tape is not his.
The publications he works for have constituted a committee
to investigate Hamid Mir but he has not been arrested. Sis.
Shamama has told New Trend that some of the information on
the tape was known only to her and Hamid Mir.
The tape is extensive and packed with abuse. However, New
Trend will still give Hamid Mir a right of reply to 300

Our observers say that the main force which would be
interested in eliminating Khawaja was imperialism-zionism,
owing to his defense of 5 US Muslims handed over by CAIR,
his attempts to stop US drone attacks, and his stoppage of
the handing over of "soft" Taliban leaders to the US.

On May 19, 2010 Pakistani regime under pressure from Islamic
forces blocked Facebook. On May 20 it also blocked youtube
and flicker photos.
Pakistani people demonstrated against Facebook in all the
major cities after a blistering attack on Face book by Syed
Munawar Hasan, ameer of Jamaate Islami. On May 20 the
demonstrations continued. [See photo below of mass

Syed Munawar Hasan, ameer of Jamaate Islami, said that Islam
respects all religions. By contrast, western powers are
constantly attacking Islam. From cartoons in Denmark and
Norway, they have moved to the use of the Facebook to insult
the Messenger of Allah, pbuh. The West is carrying out
cultural terrorism against Islam and Jewish groups are
behind this sacrilegous attack, Hasan said.
Asadullah Bhutto, leader of Jamaate Islami in Sind, said
that Pakistanis are ready to lay down their lives for the
honor of the Prophet, pbuh. However sinful or secularized a
Muslim might be, no Muslim will accept ridicule of the
messenger of Allah, pbuh, Bhutto added.
New Trend observers say, Facebook did not expect such a
powerful Islamic response when some Zionist extremists urged
facebook participants to draw cartoons of Prophet Muhammad,
pbuh. The hope of the Zionists was that if large numbers of

Part I of Sis. 'Ashirah's article "Separation from
Oppressors. The traps they set for us" was so accurate. I
am very disturbed by the sexually confusing messages that
have been steadily creeping into children's programs. My
youngest brother and his wife do not allow their daughter to
watch television. She is a little less than two years old.
They play educational games with her and take her on nature
hikes. The television is referred to as a "boob tube" for a
reason. I completely support Sis. 'Ashirah's suggestion of
buying or renting educational CD's or DVD's.
My definition of capitalism is the process of making money
to someone else's detriment. Religion and moral behavior is
constantly being ridiculed. You have teen shows, such as
Degrassi High, where teenagers lament the fact that they are
virgins while other teens are being congratulated for coming
out of the closet.
I have heard rumors, for years, about satanism in Hollywood.
Comedian Paul Mooney, confirmed it a few weeks ago on a
local cable TV show. He stated that many people in
Hollywood, black and white, worship the devil. He recounted
an incident at an awards ceremony where, actor Jack Black
said, "let's take a moment to applaud the devil" and
everyone applauded. Jack Black is a secular Jew.
Beware of programming that pokes fun at Christians. The
show's creator may be a satanist like the Simpson's Matt
Groening.

Eyewitness Account: Israeli Military Officer Rebutted in
Colorado
Governments Use Military Personnel to Justify Killing

An event at Denver University on May 11, 2010---
I was fortunate to attend a speech Tuesday by a senior
military officer of the Israeli Defense Force, Col. Bentzion
Gruber, speaking at Denver University on May 11, about the
"morality and restraint" of the IDF in dealing with their
"terrorist" neighbors... fortunate because this is the first
time I have seen an Israeli propagandist lambasted for lying
to his audience. Col. Gruber looked like he had been run
over by his own bulldozers when a few knowledgeable members
of the audience refused to sit quietly and have their
intelligence insulted.
The meeting was sponsored by the Institute for Study of
Israel in Middle East and the DU chapter of Hillel, a Jewish
fraternity on campus. Gruber's lecture was called, "The Most
Rigorous Military Code of Ethics in the World." Gruber is a
Deputy Commander of the Reserve Division that served in
Operation Cast Lead, the Christmas 2008 one month massacre
in Gaza, which has, in fact, been followed by a blockade. He
is now a reserve officer, but he also served during the
Second Intifada (1998-02) during which Israeli forces killed
4789 Palestinians.
Gruber was interrupted constantly by individuals one-by- one
who constantly challenged his facts. The resistance
resulted from the efforts of eight to ten people who called
a Mother's day strategy meeting in a Denver park. They know
the only way to refute Gruber was not to allow one lie to
pass unchallenged. It worked.
Gruber became unnerved and struggled unsuccessfully to
finish his speech, limping through his allotted time with
the aid of police, who ushered out one by one those who
spoke clearly from the floor. Later Gruber was to be roundly
challenged by his general audience, including a professor
and some of the students, during a Q & A period. Most
attacked Gruber's facts and his country's credibility.
Angered, the flustered Colonel stated, "Not all Muslims are
terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslims," causing shouts
from the stunned audience to bring the meeting to a
temporary halt. Gruber was forced to apologize, but he stuck
to his guns in referring to every Palestinian who resists
Israel as a "terrorist."
Gruber's lecture made the same points that are made in every
Israeli propaganda speech: Israel is the victim, not the
aggressor. For evidence, the Colonel cited suicide bombers,
rockets and missiles, and the evil Hamas hiding behind
civilians. He used an IDF propaganda film to attempt to show
how careful Israel is to avoid killing civilians. The film
contained obviously misleading statements about the Gazans
and Hamas, including alleging Gazans used over three
thousand "rockets" and "mortars" against Israelis.
His challengers cited the now famous Goldstone Report, which
states otherwise. He was told the Gazans have no missiles,
their rockets are the homemade kind that don't explode, and
only four Israelis were killed by rocket fire in all the
history of it. Mortar rounds are so scarce they are rarely
used on rural Israel that surrounds Gaza, and are saved to
fight off invasions.
The IDF also showed footage of a human bomber attacking a
bus that he insisted was carrying women and children. But
the movie was clearly faked, with dubbed in gunfire much too
loud for the long range and grainy film. A questionable
close-up of the grinning "suicide bomber" was offered to
prove how happy Palestinian terrorists are just before they
blow themselves up. Gruber was asked why he did not tell the
audience that Palestinian's homemade rockets do not explode
and that Israeli buses carry on-duty military and are
therefore military targets. The audience of students did not
buy the film once some of Gruber's misstatements were
exposed.
Some challenged Gruber and the IDF film on its claims of
humanitarian restraint in battle by citing the Goldstone
Report, which documented the massacre 16 months ago. The
Colonel's response was that Goldstone was "full of lies,"
and Israel "never used white phosphorus bombs." He ended his
much contested speech by reciting a sad but irrelevant story
of his family being "holocaust" survivors sixty years ago
and one of his family members being raped by a German,
springing from this to the defense of Israel with no
explanation as to what this had to do with the IDF's
slaughter of the Gazans. The final questioner asked why he
did this, and Gruber did not say how the Palestinians were
involved in Germany's acts sixty years ago.
We in the United States are increasingly subjected to the
influence of military personal on our payroll, used by
politicians to tell us why this war or that war is needed. A
generation ago it was a violation of the military code.
General Douglas Mac Arthur, American five-star hero of World
War II, was fired and ousted from the military for making
statements about the Korean War.
Today it is commonplace for retired and even active duty
officers to give interviews and public statements about the
progress of the war, apparently deemed necessary by our
political leaders to support the war effort. A recent
example is found in a story by retired General Paul Vallaly
whose claims go beyond fantasy.
Vallaly is listed in Wikipedia as a senior military analyst
for Fox News. He claims tiny Lebanon has "50-60,000 missiles
and rockets" hidden in houses and orchards aimed at Israel,
that Iran already has nuclear bombs and is getting ready to
mount them on "Scud" missiles from Russia, and that
surrounding Islamic countries are planning a chemical attack
on Israel. This war propagandist general repeatedly suggests
he has privileged information. His final words: "We cannot
allow Israel to stand alone in this." Endnote 1.
Israel, not unlike the USA, uses their military, like
Colonel Gruber, to sell the false idea that it is the
victim, and is a humane, surgically clean eliminator of
"terrorists". The response at Denver University was an
encouraging surprise and another sign of a "turning" in our
time that is finally beginning to happen in the minds of
those who think about what they are being told, especially
students.

Is It True That Hadith Was Not Written in the time of the
Prophet, pbuh?
Were Qur'an and Hadith transmitted by same people or
different ones?
Question from Sis. N. in Detroit [From a long letter]:
I am originally from Iran, moving to real Islam, Qur'an and
Hadith. I read a good book by Fazlur Rahman (Chicago
University) but it confused me on some points. He writes,
Hadith was written in third century after the Prophet. New
Trend's web site says follow Qur'an and Hadith. I am
confused please explain why Hadith was not written in time
of the Prophet ?
ANSWER by Kaukab Siddique:
Dr. Fazlur Rahman was influenced by Christian missionaries
and Jewish orientalists. He tried to confuse the Muslims of
Pakistan, with the support of the military government, but
was defeated and fled to America where he was immediately
given a senior position at Chicago University to teach
Islam.
Both the Qur'an and the Hadith were written down in the time
of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). The Qur'an is the word of
Allah revealed to Muhammad (peace be on him). The Hadith is
the commentary, explanation, implementation of the Qur'an by
Muhammad (pbuh). Both are interlinked and essential to each
other. No authentic Islamic scholar has ever tried to say
that Hadith is not necessary or was written later.
The people who wrote down the Qur'an, on bits and pieces of
materials, were the SAHABA or companions of the Prophet
(pbuh). Paper and printing were not available at that time.
So, people could not go around with printed and bound copies
of the Qur'an. Even the collation and putting together of
the Qur'an was done by the SAHABA so that the Qur'an became
a BOOK between two covers after the Prophet (pbuh) passed
away. This great work was done under the supervision of Abu
Bakr, Umar, Osman and Ali (may Allah be pleased with them
all) who were the first four rightly guided Caliphs of
Islam.
The same SAHABA also wrote and transmitted the Hadith and
made sure that nothing was falsely attributed to the Prophet
(pbuh).
The QUR'AN was also MEMORIZED by the Sahaba. In fact few of
them had it in writing but many of them knew it from memory.
The cross checking of memory with writing was carried out to
make sure that the Qur'an as revealed to the Prophet, pbuh,
was transmitted to future generations.
The HADITH was also memorized by the SAHABA and transmitted
to future generations. Any scholar of Hadith had to MEMORIZE
the HADITH from the written collections of the Sahaba and
then RECITE IT FROM MEMORY to his/her teacher. Thus an
accurate record of the Prophet's, pbuh, life and teachings
was enshrined in the scholarship of the Muslim world.
In the era after the SAHABA various kinds of sects arose
which tried to disseminate their own versions of the Qur'an.
Some of them claimed that Hazrat Ali (r.a.) had received
suras of the Qur'an from the Prophet, pbuh, which no one
else had. The scholars of the line of Ali (r.a.) and Fatima
(r.a.), such as Imam Jafar and Imam Baqir, were able to
repudiate these claims because they had the Qur'an both by
memory and in writing.
Similarly attempts were made to invent "Hadith." This was a
very serious effort by Kings and emperors who wanted
religion to justify their tyranny and to creatre a "tame
Islam." The problem was aggravated by the fact that various
SAHABA had migrated to various cities, and after they passed
away, various people could claim that they had heard Hadith
from them.
It was in that context that great scholars like Imam Bukhari
stepped forward to ENSURE that fabrications did not enter
the corpus of Hadith. I think that these scholars were a bit
too strict and as a result they sometimes designated as
"weak" even those Hadith which were authentic but which
would not pass the test of extremely severe scrutiny.
Imam Bukhari and other imams are the ones Dr. Fazlur Rahman
was abusing when he claimed that Hadith was written in the
third century after the Prophet. Fazlur Rahman really was
quite ignorant of Hadith and hence recklessly fell into the
trap set for him by Christian missionaries and Jewish
orientalists.
WAS HADITH WRITTEN in the TIME OF THE PROPHET (pbuh)? Yes,
the evidence is overwhelming. Here is one sample from a
prominent companion of the Prophet, pbuh, Abdullah ibn Umru
ibn al-Aas. It is authenticated by two distinct and separate
compilers of Hadith, Abu Dawud in his Sunan (chapter kitabut
al-ilm) and Darimi in his Musnad (chapter on Rukhs fi
kitabut al-ilm):
"Whatever I heard from the messenger of Allah, peace be on
him, I would write it down so as to be able to memorize it.
Then some in the Quraish (tribe) said to me: You write down
whatever you hear though the messenger of Allah is a human
being and speaks both in anger and in joy. On hearing that I
stopped writing and then I mentioned this to the messenger
of Allah. He pointed with his finger to his mouth and said:
Write on! By Him in whose Hand is my being, no word comes
out of this mouth but the Truth."
Abdullah ibn Umru (r.a.) collected the Hadith he had written
in the presence of the Prophet (pbuh) in a book titled
Al-Sadiqa. Abdullah said: "There are two things I love in
life: Al-Sadiqa and al-Wahat." He explained: "Al-Sadiqa is
that manuscript which I heard and wrote from the messenger
of Allah and Wahat is that land which (my father) Umru ibn
al-Aas donated to the cause of Allah and which I take care
of." [Darimi's Sunan.]
The compendium Tahzeeb al-Tahzeeb tells us that on the death
of Abdullah, r.a, the manuscript of Al-Sadiqa was secured by
his grandson Shuaib bin Muhammad and then transmitted to the
next generation by his son also named Umru. THE HADITH
WRITTEN BY Abdullah, r.a., DIRECTLY FROM THE PROPHET, pbuh,
AND AT HIS COMMAND, are to be found in the collections of
Hadith which we have under this chain of narration:
"From Umru son of Shuaib from his father from his
grandfather." As Hadith is a very strict discipline, some
classical scholars wanted to classify the collection as
Mursal because they thought the grandson should have SAT
DOWN IN FRONT OF THE GRANDFATHER AND RECITED THE WHOLE
COLLECTION TO HIM FROM MEMORY! However, some of the greatest
scholars of Hadith, like Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, accept the
authenticity of Al-Sadiqa.
What makes Al-Sadiqa's authenticity irrefutable is that it
was also transmitted by OTHER STUDENTS of Abdullah (r.a.)
who had nothing to do with his grandson.
So, don't let anyone tell you that Hadith was not written in
the time of the Prophet, pbuh.
FINALLY, spend a couple of months in trying to understand
this verse of the Qur'an. It will help you to understand why
the Hadith is essential and ALWAYS goes with the Qur'an:
"The Prophet is closer to the believers than their own
selves, and his wives are their mothers. [33:6]

Azzam in Cairo to discuss issue of Islamic Jihad prisoners
in Egypt's jails

GAZA, (PIC)-- Senior Islamic Jihad leader Nafid Azzam
traveled on Wednesday to Cairo to discuss the file of his
Movement's detainees in Egyptian jails, who were arrested
upon their return to the Gaza Strip.
Spokesman for the Movement Da'wood Shihab said that Azzam
went to Egypt after he received an official invitation to
visit Cairo to discuss the file of Islamic Jihad prisoners
there, denying any kind of mediation in this regard between
his Movement and Egypt.
The spokesman noted that the number of Islamic Jihad
prisoners in Egyptian jails is about 30 Palestinians,
affirming that all of them used legal ways and official
documents during their travel from and to Egypt.
In a related context, an Egyptian state security officer
reported, on condition of anonymity, that a Palestinian
citizen from Gaza called Ayman Nofal, imprisoned for years,
is living in harsh incarceration conditions and exposed to
severe torture in Egyptian jails.
The officer said he saw Nofal twice being taken to the
interrogation room with his hands and feet shackled, adding
that the Palestinian prisoner was locked up alone for more
than one year and a half inside Abu Zaabal prison in Cairo
in a two square meter solitary cell, having no source of
ventilation or lighting, except a metal bucket used as a
toilet.
He revealed further that in the last six months, a prisoner
affiliated with Hamas joined Nofal in his new two square
meter cell inside Al-Marj prison in Cairo and both of them
sleep alternately because of the narrow area of the
cell.
"When I saw him, once, he was being carried by soldiers in
the corridor of the investigation section and unable to walk
alone because of the severe torture he was subjected to
during the interrogation. His body was frail, his hair and
beard were unshaven for months and he was wearing an
unbearably smelly clothes to the extent that the two
soldiers carrying him could not put up with the smell," the
