Spotlight: Think about where our children are getting their ideas and education from. These are the digital sources: TV, cell phones, computer games, videos. We have left our children at the mercy of these technologies which are manipulated by resources which are not only not Islamic but are often antagonistic to Islam. We must make a major effort to give the aqeedah [belief system] of Islam to our children very early so that their hearts and souls may know that there is only one God Allah and Muhammad, pbuh, is Allah's last messenger and that we are answerable to Allah. October 23-24: Jamaate Islami Pakistan makes history. At the initiative of its new Ameer, Syed Munawar Hasan, a REFERENDUM was held in major Pakistani cities on the Kerry Lugar Bill. Kerry and Lugar united to tie the Pakistani government to American interests including the war on terror. America promised to give $7.5 billion to Pakistan in exchange for US control of all Pakistani foreign and domestic matters of importance, including the promotion of military officers and the civilian-military interaction. Jamaate Islami saw this as the surrender of Pakistan's sovereignty. It held a REFERENDUM in major Pakistani cities asking Pakistanis to vote for or against Kerry Lugar. Ballot boxes, ballots and independent monitors were provided in each city.

The results were astounding: Within a day, without government resources, 27,061,691 people voted against Kerry Lugar and 137,943 for it.

Kenya Facing Economic Disaster: Where is President Obama?

More than 23 million people are facing starvation in Kenya owing to drought and various soco-economic and political factors. CNN showed footage of elephants dying for lack of water and tribesmen fighting over the ivory and killing each other.

Crime is spiralling in the major cities owing to severe poverty. On October 25, two British tourists were stabbed to death near Mombasa.
The corrupt government in nearby Somalia is recruiting more than 1500 Kenyan youths as soldiers to fight the Islamic forces of al-Shabab which have captured major areas of Somalia. Poverty creates mercenaries.

Relief groups in Kenya say that handouts of food are not the answer. In fact they create dependency. Instead education and productive sources should be used to reconstruct a normal economy, they say. [Source: Kenya Times.]

Somali-Canadian Imam Rebuts Bigotry Against Islamic Dress

Imam Saed Regeah leads a large Muslim community in North York, Ontario, Canada. Around 1000 people, including numerous women, come for Juma'.
On October 16, 2009 Imam Regeah rebutted a campaign which is going on in Canada against Islamic beard for men and women's Islamic dress, in particular niqab and burqa. The Somali Imam's teaching was that it is not the right of the Kuffar [rejectors of Islam] to tell Muslims what is Islamic and what is not. He prayed that the kuffar's efforts should be defeated by Allah Almighty. He urged Muslim men to keep the beard in Islamic style and women to wear the burqa and/or niqab. He said that if large numbers of us do it, the kuffar will not be able to stop us. Going to the Kuffar for help against Muslims was condemned by Imam Regeah.

On October 22, the National Post, a major Canadian paper with Zionist leanings, attacked Imam Regeah. The National Post's technique is that it uses a small clique of renegades with Muslim names to attack Muslims who oppose the Canadian power structure or show any leanings towards the Muslims of Africa or Pakistan or the Middle East. These "Muslim" collaborators" have been campaigning through the National Post for a ban on Islamic dress. This time they latched on to the Imam's use of the word kuffar [rejectors] and claimed that he wanted violence against Christians and Jews.. If they have their way, they will get the Imam deported.

The "Muslim" collaborators' attack on the word "Kuffar" is aimed at attacking the Qur'an and the Hadith where this word is often used. Muslims believe that those who reject the teachings of Islam are kuffar, just as the Christians believe that those who do not accept Jesus, pbuh, as their Savior are damned.

The attacks on Imam Regeah were so vehement that he came out with a clarification to say that it is the task of Muslim women to affirm their right to wear Islamic dress and that he was not preaching violence against anybody.

My understanding is that the verses of the Qur'an about dress have scope in them for interpretations ranging from modest dress all the way to burqa and headcover. It is the duty of Muslim women to study the Qur'an and decide to what extent they are willing and able to stop being fearful of the kuffar and to wear the dress they consider modest. We should never condemn women for what they wear, be it immodest dress or modest dress or niqab or burqa. We should advise them as we would our mothers, daughters, sisters and wives with loving care and compassion. The best way is for men to dress modestly themselves and choose modest women for marriage.

When it comes to people like Imam Regeah, we must support him. His position is political. He is opposing the oppressors and the kuffar. In many Muslim countries, such as in Egypt, hijab and niqab is a way of saying NO to the westernizers and enemies of Islam, the kuffar. If we allow our enemies and their collaborators to dictate to us, the next step would be that they will publish abridged editions of the Qur'an which would leave out verses on dress or food or jihad. Notice that ISNA and Dr. Badawi claimed that armed Jihad is not central to Islam and even getting up for prayers is jihad!.

Muslims accept the law of the land but that does not mean that the host country has the right to change our religion or to interpret it for us.

Dr. Munir El-Kassem: Outstanding Teacher of Islam in Canada

During my recent visit to Canada, I had the opportunity to listen to a Friday khutba by Dr. Munir El-Kassim. Dr. Kassim lives in London, Ontario but he was invited to speak in Toronto. It was a large prayer gathering.

Dr. Kassem discussed the issue of a major problem in the Muslim community and that is ethnic divisions. This is a worldwide problem, he said, but in particular it is standing in the way of the spread of Islam in Canada.

It becomes a real problem, he said, when parents do not allow their children to marry across ethnic lines. Thus the healing which could bring the Muslims together is being delayed. The parents are standing in the way of their children's choice and want to make the divisions permanent.

Dr. Kassem graciously spoke to me about Muslims in Canada although his schedule was very tight.

WASHINGTON

A scientist who worked for the Defense Department, a White House space council and other agencies was arrested Monday on charges of passing along classified information to an FBI agent posing as an Israeli intelligence officer.

Stewart David Nozette, 52, of Chevy Chase was charged in a criminal complaint with attempting to communicate, deliver and transmit classified information, the Justice Department said.

Nozette worked in varying jobs for the Energy Department, NASA and - in 1989 and 1990 - the National Space Council in the president's office.

At Energy, Nozette held a special security clearance equivalent to the Defense Department's top secret and "critical nuclear weapon design information" clearances. DOE clearances apply to access to information specifically relating to atomic or nuclear-related materials.

Nozette also held top offices at the Alliance for Competitive Technology, a nonprofit corporation that he organized. Between January 2000 and February 2006, Nozette, through his company, had several agreements to develop advanced technology for the U.S. government.

An affidavit explains why FBI agents posed as agents of the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad.

From 1998 to 2008, the complaint alleges, Nozette was a technical adviser for a consultant company that was wholly owned by the Israeli government. Nozette was paid about $225,000 over that period, the court papers say.
Then, in January of this year, Nozette allegedly traveled to another country with two computer thumb drives and did not return with them. Prosecutors also quote an unnamed colleague of Nozette who said the scientist told him that if the U.S. government ever tried to put him in jail for an unrelated criminal offense, he would go to Israel or another country and "tell them everything" he knows.

In Jerusalem, Israeli government officials had no immediate comment.

The affidavit by FBI agent Leslie Martell said that on Sept. 3, Nozette received a telephone call from an individual purporting to be an Israeli intelligence officer. The caller was an undercover FBI agent.

Nozette agreed to meet with the agent later that day at a hotel in Washington and in the subsequent meeting the two discussed Nozette's willingness to work for Israeli intelligence, the affidavit said.

Nozette allegedly informed the agent that he had, in the past, held top security clearances and had access to U.S. satellite information, the affidavit said.
Nozette also allegedly said that he would be willing to answer questions about this information in exchange for money. The agent explained that the Israeli intelligence agency, Mossad, would arrange for a communication system so Nozette could pass on information in a post office box.

Jundullah Leader Answers Iranian Propaganda: "We are not fighting Shi'as but for our rights as Muslims in Iranian Baluchistan"

October 20, 2009. Abdul Malik Rigi appeared on private Pakistani TV to answer Iranian accusations following a devastating jihad attack on Iranian military leaders in the Pishin area near Pakistan. Abdul Malik spoke in Urdu with a Pushtun-Baluch accent. The Jundullah [Army of Allah] leader categorically denied claims that he has any connection to al-Qaida, Taliban or America or any other group or country. Jundullah, he said, is an independent Islamic movement fighting for EQUALITY within Iran for Baluchi, Sunni Muslims.

He said that we had to fight back because the Iranian government does not permit Sunni mosques to be built and ridicules Sunni Islam. It uses military force to crush the Sunni Baluchis. We are looking for autonomy WITHIN Iran he said. Our fight is certainly not against Shi'as or Shi'ism, he said.

The group of journalists travelled for 9 hours to meet Abdul Malik in a remote area on the Iran-Afghan border. Rigi, dressed like a Pashtun, also showed them his personal ability to use rpgs.

[Iran sent its representative to Pakistan to demand that Rigi be captured and handed over to Iran. Pakistan promised to do what it can, pointing out thar it had already captured Rigi's brother and handed him over to Iran.] {The Iranians tortured Rigi's brother and forced him to come on TV and declare that he was working for America.]

Israel's foreign minister has ordered Turkey's ambassador to be summoned over a Turkish TV series that portrays Israeli soldiers killing children. Avigdor Lieberman said the programme, broadcast on Turkey's state television, incited hatred against the country. In one clip screened on Israeli news channels, an Israeli soldier takes aim at a smiling young girl and kills her. The complaint is the latest to strain the relationship between Turkey and Israel.

October 24: Pakistani military claimed that the village of Kotkai has been captured but latest reports in Pakistani media indicate fighting continues within Kotkai house to house. Pak army admits the loss of 20 soldiers killed but witnesses say dead and wounded Pak troops were being ferried out by helicopter. Pak losses are heavy with very few Taliban losses [Pak General Abbas says 20 Taliban were killed for every one of Pak military. Such exaggerations have made Gen. Abbas notorious and unreliable.]

US Drone Attacks Pakistani Village in Bajaur: 27 Killed, mostly civilians, scores wounded. Attempt to Kill Faqir Muhammad.
October 24: Seemingly in coordination with Pakistani military, an American drone fired missiles into a village called Damadola in the Bajaur area [abutting Afghanistan's Kunar province]. Urdu media report 27 people killed by the drone. Reports say that local Taliban leader Faqir Muhammad's nephew and son-in-law were among those killed along with 3 Uzbek mujahideen. The rest were civilians.

Pak Military Helicopter Downed in Bajaur: Two Pak Officers among 5 Killed.
Also on October 24: In the Chaharmang area of Bajaur, a Pakistani military helicopter supplying front line troops was brought down. Six Pak military men killed included a major and a captain. Pakistan claimed it was owing to mechanical failure but witnesses saw the helicopter in flames before it went down.

October 23, 2009: A martyrdom operator hit the front office of the Kamra air force center, 75 km north west of Islamabad. At least 8 persons were killed in the blast, 2 air force personnel and 6 related to activities at the top level air force center.

October 22: Gunmen killed a Pakistani Brigadier General and his driver in Islamabad. The new Punjabi Taliban are suspected of numerous attacks against the military in support of the Islamic resistance in Waziristan.

Imran Khan Suspects Government Hand in Attack on Islamic University, Islamabad.

October 19 and 20: Justice Party leader Imran Khan speaking in Urdu on a private Pakistani TV station known as ATV discussed the attack on the Islamic University in Islamabad and the military offensive in Waziristan. He said that the fighting has to do with American pressure on Pakistan to do more against "terrorists." He expressed grave reservations about the government claim that the Taliban had attacked the Islamic university. Imran Khan said that there is no evidence that it was a "suicide" attack and anyone can set off a bomb to create a situation. He said the goverment is trying to demonize the opposition and the attack seems to be an attempt to turn public opinion against the Taliban.
Imran Khan calmly rebutted government minister Kaira's claim that it was a Taliban attack.

The students of the Islamic university seemed to agree with Imran Khan. When Rahman Malik, the ruling PPP's Minister of the Interior, visited the university after the bombing, he was hooted by the students who then became openly hostile to the minister and threw stones at his vehicle. He was hustled away under tight security. [ATV showed a video of the entire incident while interviewing Imran Khan.]

Pak Taliban Leader Answers Military's Propaganda Barrage

October 20, 2009: To Pak Taliban leader Qari Hussain gave an interview to a tribal area journalist Samiullah Wazir in the Pushtu language by mobile phone. He said that the military operation launched against South Waziristan is politically beneficial to Taliban because it will help confused people to realize who is the enemy of the people. The 35 year old qari [reciter of the Qur'an] said that we are under constant bombardment and heavy artillery is being used against us but every bomb increases our determination to fight back. He condemned the ANP and PPP [secular-ethnic political parties] for supportng the military operation. We will treat them as enemies, he said.

He categorically rejected government propaganda that India is helping the resistance. Qari Hussain said that we send a curse on everything connected with India. He added that we are Muslims and cannot ally ourselves in any way with India or America. [Ed. note: Qari's Hussain's clarification shows that Pak government's propaganda is very effective.]

In response to bomb explosions which have been hurting civilians and which the government attributes to the Taliban, Qari Hussain said that these attacks are the work of the government's secret agencies. We, he added, are not so shameless that we would attack innocent civilians These explosions are a conspiracy against the Taliban, he said, to turn public opinion against us and to justify military action.

Qari Hussain justified the use of martyrdom operations as part of the peoples' resistance against the military. Allah Almighty permits the use of such resistance against the oppressive powers, he concluded.

I've been reading a lot about the rising problem of parents with autism. Since functionally autistic persons gravitate towards the engineering careers and there are so many Muslim engineers, it is quite possible that Muslim parents have a higher than average rate of functional autism or Asperger Syndrome. Also, two engineers who marry are more likely to have autistic children than couples with only one engineer. Some of the symptoms can include unwillingness to make eye contact, inability to see another person's point of view, difficulty in listening, losing track of posessions, forgetting to pay bills, talking at people instead of to them, being an inconsiderate slob, not bathing without being asked to bathe, erratic sleep patterns, not reciprocating normal kindnesses. Sometimes the person genuinely wants to help, but he has no intuitive sense about how to make the others happy so he wastes a lot of time ineffectively overcompensating for past mistakes (for example buying the kids toys instead of playing with them or spending hours discussing politics - often repeating past conversations - with his wife instead of romancing her). These types of brain disorders seem to be more common in men, and many times wives have trouble getting the support they need because other people think her husband is "just being a guy" but actually it's far more difficult than being married to a merely selfish macho man, who could change his behavior when he felt motivated to do so.

People with mild autism generally busy themselves with work or pretending to work - because they find it difficult to manage their personal relationships effectively. They cannot easily switch back and forth between different activities and therefore if they do spend time with family they end up not finishing their work project or if they have a project going on at work they emotionally neglect their family. They lose track of time and stay awake unhealthy hours working or surfing the net and then they get sick or collapse exhausted - which means they are never truly available to their family. They hate any change in their preferred routine, although they tend to operate not in 24 hour cycles but some other number of hours, so that their schedule never coincides with other people's normal schedules and can be hard to predict. They view things like being home for dinner at a certain time as a huge imposition so the family basically lives without him, except at his convenience. People with this type of brain disorder prefer not to have any close friends in order to hide their problems, therefore the family can be extremely isolated in their bad situation.

At least 136 people died Sunday after two car bombs detonated in Baghdad. With casualty figures still rising, officials said that nearly 600 people had been injured and taken to six area hospitals.
So many people were wounded that even civilian cars were pressed into service to take the casualties to area hospitals, said a Baghdad hospital official who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.
The two vehicles were packed with explosives and detonated less than a minute apart in the centre of the Iraqi capital, officials said.
One Iraqi government spokesman said he suspected that al-Qaeda militants were responsible for the bombings. Ali al-Dabbagh made the comments to the BBC.
It was not clear whether the attacks had been carried out by suicide bombers.
"These bombings serve no purpose other than the murder of innocent men, women and children," U.S. President Barack Obama said in a statement.

The attacks happened near the city's Green Zone, a heavily fortified administrative district. The car bombs targeted the Justice Ministry and the Baghdad provincial administration, officials said.
At least 25 staff members of the Baghdad Provincial Council, which runs the city, were killed in the bombing, council member Mohammed al-Rubaiey told AP.
