Karachi, Pakistan: Referendum Against U.S. Subversion
History in the making: Peaceful Revolution in Karachi Against U.S.
Intervention & Pak Military Operations in Swat.
The People of Islam re-take Karachi.
Photo inset shows Syed Munawar Hasan gesturing as he condemned America's
crimes against Pakistan, including drone attacks. Hafiz Naeemur Rahman
is to his right and Muhammad Hussain Mehnati to his left.
June 28, 2009: In the intense heat of a late June afternoon, Karachi's
people came out in their hundreds of thousands to protest against U.S.
subversion and intervention as well as against military operations in
Swat-Malakand-Waziristan by General Kayani. Tens of thousands of Islamic
women as well as very large numbers of youth groups also participated.
It was a SEA of PEOPLE from the mausoleum of Qaide Azam to the Tibet
Center. The green flags of Islam and Pakistan could be seen from one
end of the mammoth rally to the other.
The mass gathering was addressed by numerous Islamic leaders and
activists culminating in a speech by the Ameer of Jamaate Islami
Pakistan Syed Munawar Hasan. "Pakistan's military has become part of
American strategy and blindly follows the directions issued by
Washington," Hasan said. He wanted to know what is really going on in
Swat. Military press releases are not dependable. He reminded people of
the tragedy of East Pakistan in 1971 where the military kept issuing
victory bulletins FIVE DAYs after the country had fallen to India. He
wants independent journalists to be allowed to go in. Where is the time
frame for the government's claims of success in Swat, Hasan asked. He
said, the homes of the people are being destroyed:what wil they go
back to?
Syed Munawar Hasan challenged the army chief General Perwaiz Kayani
and told him that he will not be able to crush Pakistanis by force of
arms. The only solution is mutual understanding and peaceful interchange.
Top Islamic leaders Asadullah Bhutto [Jamaate Islami Sindh], Atiqur
Rahman [leader of Pakistan's biggest student group Islami Jamiate
Talaba], Muhammad Hussain Mehnati [Jamaate Islami Karachi] also
addressed the mass rally and condemned America's war being conducted by
the Pakistani army. Dr. Fawzia Siddiqui spoke about the suffering of
her sister Dr. Afia Siddiqui who is in a U.S. prison. Thousands of
people were carrying the now famous photo of Dr. Afia after she was
kidnaped, molested and tortured by U.S. special agents.
Seldom has such a large gathering been addressed by a Muslim woman. Dr.
Fawzia Siddiqui made the people cry when she said that instead of
standing up for the rights of women, our rulers are selling our women
and children [such as Dr. Afia and her children] to America for dollars.
A number of speakers from the Frontier areas stressed jihad and martyrdom.

Revolutionary Khutba: One in a series
America Cannot Survive without Islam: Widespread Mourning for a
Singer, Dancer indicates Spiritual Emptiness and Meaningless Lives.
Muhammad [pbuh] did not Endorse Wealth, Status or Power: Prayer, Fasting
need to be Linked to Transformation of Lifestyle.
June 26, 2009: At a small masjid on the west side of Baltimore, Dr.
Kaukab Siddique gave the juma' khutba and led prayers. The masjid was
packed but for the sake of nationwide distribution, here are the main
points of the khutba. Inshallah, other khateebs will pick these up.
[The audience was mostly Pakistani, Arab and African.]
"And stay away from those who take their religion for a pastime and a
jest, and whom the life of the world beguiles. Remind (mankind) hereby
lest a soul be destroyed by what it earns. It has beside Allah no
protecting ally nor intercessor, and though it offer every compensation
it will not be accepted from it. Those are they who perish by their own
deeds. For them is drink of boiling water and a painful doom, because
they disbelieved." [The Qur'an 6:70]
For those who have faith, prayer, fasting, zakat, hajj, and jihad in
Muslim countries under attack are essential and central to Islam.
-
However, these are means to an end, not ends in themselves.
 -
A person who prays but cannot cross racial divides does not
understand Islam.
 -
A person who prays but then cooperates with the oppressors such as the
White House and the Pentagon and the FBI is a Muslim only in a
legal sense.
 -
A person who prays but sticks to his nationalism and tries to justify
his country's evil deeds, his prayers are mere ritual.
 -
A person who prays but will subjugate his own wife or daughter is an
oppressor. His Islam is not the Islam of Muhammad, pbuh.
 -
A person who prays but admires and takes for role models the rich and
the powerful, instead of the Prophet, pbuh, and the sahaba, r.a.,
should not complain that Allah does not accept his/her prayers.
 -
Look at what is happning in our country. There is a huge mourning
ritual going on for a singer and a dancer.
 -
This was a man ashamed of his own race, of his own face. He was
spiritually sick, experimenting with religion and various fads. He was
pumping himself with medicines and drugs. His desire for DUNYA was such
that he went into $500 million debt. He was preparing to make millions
more when the angel of death took him. It was a tragic life and a
pathetic ending.
 -
Behind the singing and the dancing lies a spiritual void, pain without
healing, meaningless lives, directionless movement.
 -
This gesticulation, strutting, shaking, jerking which is referred to as
dancing hides the terrible ennui, spiritual boredom, a horrible lack of
hope, a desire which can never be satisfied, a thirst which boils over
into misery.
 -
Look at how the scholars, scientists, independent thinkers,
especially of the Black community and the Muslim community, are ignored
while entertainers and sportsmen are eulogized and lionized. Those who
have mental abilities are shunned, even outcast.
 -
This world of entertainment, gossip and pleasure is also influencing
Muslims, many of whom almost worship celebrities, toddle after the
rich, look down on the poor. Elitism is rampant in Muslim communities.
 -
Look at the life of Muhammad, pbuh. When he left Makka for Madinah, he
had nothing, no worldly goods at all. When he died, he had no money,
not even a servant, though in those days victorious leaders had
captives of war as their servants.
 -
Look at the Sahabah, r.a. Abu Bakr, Ayesha, Umar, Usman, Ali [may Allah
be pleased with them], were never satisfied with the great, the
unequalled, services they had rendered to Islam. They were constantly
striving for perfection.
 -
Ayesha', r.a., gave away ALL that she had, not even keeping dates for
her fast. Even then she would pray: "O Allah! make me a piece of wood
so that people may burn me and benefit on cold nights." Umar, r.a., the
greatest ruler in Muslim history, would spend hours of the night
searching for people who may be in need.
 -
These are not stories. These are our role models. We are very weak and
cannot come anywhere near them, but at least let us be aware of our
role models and at least try to focus on Muhammad, pbuh, who gave away
everything he had and slept on a harsh pallet which left marks on
his back.

Dua: O Allah forgive our sins and our shortcomings. O Allah help us to
be kind and compassionate with the needy, the poor, the downtrodden,
the oppressed people of America. O Allah, give victory to the
mujahideen in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kashmir, Iraq, Palestine, Somalia,
Chechnya. O Allah help the Muslims of America to unite on the Qur'an
and the authentic Hadith. O Allah give us health and wholeness in our
lives. Give us honesty, decency and love for all oppressed humans in
our dealings.. Aameen, summa Aameen.
Gaza: Testimony in Israeli War Crimes Begins. Air Strike on
Defenseless Mosque. Isra-Jews love this Stuff
President Obama has not mentioned the word "Gaza" in Six Months!
One of the first people to testify was Musa Silawi, a 91-year-old man
who recounted an air strike on a mosque in the town of Jabaliya that
killed 17 people, including his son and four other members of his
extended family.
"After the evening prayers we heard the shell hit the mosque and we had
no idea what happened. We all started screaming, 'God help us!'" he said.
"I am 91 years old and I have never seen anything like this catastrophe."
A young wheelchair-bound man named Ziad al-Deeb described how he had been
sitting at home with his family, savoring a brief pause in the fighting,
when Israeli forces began shelling his neighborhood.
"We were shocked when we heard the loud noise coming from the Israeli
shelling, then one of the missiles landed on top of us. There were 11
people killed," he said.
"My legs were cut off, and then I looked and saw my father and my family.
Most of them had been killed. The children were screaming."
One of the investigators asked if there had been any warning before
the strike.
"There was no warning," Deeb said. "If there had been we would have left."

An Israeli Worried about Israel's Future Warns that Jewish Americans
and Evangelicals in USA are Supporting Israeli Settlements
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/06/25/AR2009062503427.html
Washington Post June 25, 2009
Want to Stop Israeli Settlements? Start With Americans
By Ronit Avni
This month, both at Cairo University and from the Oval Office,
President Obama has called on the Israeli government to stop the
expansion of settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories. He
should send the same message to the Americans who are funding and
fueling them.
There are more than 450,000 settlers in the West Bank and East
Jerusalem, according to Peace Now, an Israeli organization that opposes
the settlements. Some of them are Americans. And some of the most
influential, militant figures in the settler movement have been Americans,
too. Among them were Baruch Goldstein, the doctor from Brooklyn
who fired 100 shots at worshiping Muslims in Hebron in 1994, killing
29; Rabbi Meir Kahane, the founder of the Kach party, which was banned
in Israel in 1988 on the grounds that it was racist; and convicted
terrorist Era Rapaport, a member of the Land Redemption Fund, which
coordinates the acquisition of Palestinian land in areas targeted for
settlement expansion.
Before the settlers were removed from Gaza in 2005, I visited a group
of them while shooting my last film. Some of the settlements' most
passionate advocates spoke about their deep roots in the Gaza Strip
even though they were actually Americans. Years earlier, while working
as a human rights advocate, I had received reports from colleagues who
had been threatened or physically attacked by young settlers as they
tried to protect Palestinian farmers during harvest. The attackers
often included North American Jews, my colleagues said.
Evangelical Christians in the United States also support the
settlements, raising millions of dollars for them, according to a
recent National Public Radio report. The Colorado-based Christian Friends
of Israeli Communities, for example, encourages churches and ministries
to connect with "the pioneers of Biblical Israel" through the
"adopt-a-settlement program." Sondra Oster Baras, director of the
organization's Israeli office, estimates that more than half of the
West Bank settlements receive direct or indirect support from Christians,
according to the NPR report.
A handful of wealthy businessmen, including American casino magnate
Irving Moskowitz, are widely reported to have donated to groups
such as the Brooklyn-based not-for-profit Hebron Fund, which raises
money to support residents in the West Bank city of Hebron. According
to the donation page on its Web site, the organization aims to "keep
Hebron Jewish for the Jewish people." Friends of Itamar, also based in
Brooklyn, engages in domestic, tax-deductible fundraising for the West
Bank settlement of Itamar. All this comes at the expense of the U.S.
government, which loses tax revenue by allowing these groups to operate
as not-for-profit entities.
Not all support for the settlements comes through charitable organizations.
The Israeli newspaper Haaretz has reported that in 2007, the settler
organization Amana held "housing fairs" in New York and New Jersey to
encourage American Jews to buy property in the West Bank. According to
the Jewish Voice and Opinion, a self-described "politically conservative
Jewish publication" in New Jersey, approximately 250 people attended
and as many as 10 properties were slated for purchase.
Last year the Palestinian village of Bil'in filed suit in Canada
against two Quebec-based companies that built and sold residential
units in a West Bank settlement. The case is still pending, but it
demonstrates that people are beginning to pay attention to non-Israeli
influences on settlement growth.
If the courts can't find a way to dissuade settlement expansion, perhaps
the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control should
intervene. The U.S. government has already designated Kahane's movement
a foreign terrorist organization for reasons unrelated to settlement
financing, but in doing so, it has prohibited U.S. citizens from
providing financial support to this group.
The First Amendment protects the right of the settlement advocates to
express their views, and so it should. I am not suggesting that
non-profits should lose their tax advantages simply because they are at
odds with American foreign policy. But the settlements are widely
considered a violation of international law. Thirty years ago, a U.S.
State Department legal adviser issued an opinion that called the
settlements "inconsistent" with the Fourth Geneva Convention. In recent
weeks, officials at State and in the White House have declined to say
whether the 1979 opinion reflects official government policy, but
President Obama's comments have hardly been ambiguous. "The United
States does not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlements,"
he said in Cairo. "It is time for these settlements to stop."
Maybe it's also time for Americans to stop supporting them.
Ronit Avni, an Israeli, U.S. and Canadian citizen, is the
director of the film "Encounter Point" and the executive director of
Just Vision, an organization that documents Palestinian and Israeli
conflict-resolution peace initiatives.
War News: Afghanistan [Sample]
June 28: Taliban volunteers clashed with Karzai's U.S. backed police in
two districts of Farah province [western Afghanistan]. In the
first gun battle 5 police and 7 Taliban volunteers were killed. In the
second clash three police were killed and 2 wounded. There were no
Taliban losses. Farah province is increasingly supporting Taliban ever
since the U.S. used a B1 bomber and other late model aircraft to bomb
villages killing 140 civilians.
June 27: Taliban overran a Karzai police post in Helmand province
south of Lashkargah. Eight policemen were killed and others disappeared
and have probably joined the Taliban. The Australian newspaper says
several districts in Helmand province are still in Taliban hands in
spite of heavy NATO military presence. Several thousand British troops
are there.
June 26: In Khost, in two separate guerrilla attacks, an Afghan
working as interpretor for U.S. troops was killed and an Afghan
supplying containers to NATO was killed. In Kheyl, a U.S.
paratrooper was killed in a Taliban attack with an IED.

in South Waziristan against Pak Taliban led by Baitullah Mehsud.
Pak air strikes and heavy artillery shelling is going on non-stop in
the hope that Taliban will collapse. Observers say that even if the
Paks break through, they may not find Baitullah. [Paks have put a price
of $625,000 on his head.] At least 12 Pak Taliban have been killed in
Pak bombing attacks.
June 25-29: Heavy fighting is on in Kurram agency between Shi'ites
supporting the Pak government and Sunnis supporting Pak Taliban. Scores
of people have been killed in heavy exchanges of fire.
European Agenda for Iran suffers Setback
Iran denounces G8 statement as interference
Tehran Times Political Desk
TEHRAN – Foreign Ministry spokesman Hassan Qashqavi has condemned a
statement by G8 foreign ministers about Iran’s post-election developments
as "interfering and hasty".
"This election with the participation of 85 percent of the eligible
voters in a completely competitive and open atmosphere… is regarded as
a turning point in the history of religious democracy," he told
reporters in Tehran.
Foreign ministers of the Group of Eight leading powers Canada, France,
Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States
said on Friday they were "concerned about the aftermath of the Iranian
presidential election".
"We fully respect the sovereignty of Iran. At the same time we deplore
post-election violence which led to the loss of lives of Iranian
civilians and urge Iran to respect fundamental human rights," the
ministers said after talks in Trieste, Italy.
Qashqavi countered by saying, "The world expected the meeting of the
eight industrial countries’ foreign ministers, in the light of their
prearranged agenda, to address the serious problems that lie ahead of
these countries and the international community."
He also dismissed recent remarks by European Parliament President
Hans-Gert Poettering about June 12 presidential election
as "irresponsible".
"The Islamic Republic of Iran views the interfering statements by the
president of the European parliament as irresponsible and unacceptable,"
the Foreign Ministry spokesman stated.
Poettering said on Wednesday that he hopes to lead a delegation of
European deputies to Iran to study an election which he claimed appears
to be a massive fraud.
Montreal Perspectives
by Jalaluddin S. Hussain
Sudanese-Canadian Finally Comes Home after 12 months in Embassy
"House Arrest."
Home Sweet Home!
At the time of writing, Abousfian Abdelrazik, the Sudanese-born Canadian,
who has spend more than 12 months in the Canadian Embassy in Khartoum,
Sudan, is expected to fly back, with his lawyer, Yavar Hameed and a
representative of Canadian government. Finally, he will be able to join
his family in Montreal, after 6 years of forced exile and torture-filled
living. Shamefully, Canadian government, in the form of Canadian
Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), had a direct hand in his
sufferings. Hopefully, Abousfian Abdelrazik's nightmare is over for now
and he will be allowed to live in peace with his family in Montreal.
Help the freedom fighters in reconstruction
The Afghan War has so far claimed 120 Canadian soldiers. Many others
have been seriously injured or psychologically traumatized. Even after
more than 7 years of fighting with superior fire-power, NATO has not
been able to win the Afghan war. It is high time that a deal is struck
with the Afghan freedom-fighters and they are helped politically,
economically and socially, to build up their country. Why should not
the Americans realize that Afghans are freedom-loving people? If they
have already humiliated and defeated the Britishers and Soviets, during
the last hundred years, they can also defeat the collective force of
the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). In any case, how come
the North Atlantic military orgtanization is operating in an Asian
country? It boggles the mind!
Bil'in Demonstration Exposes Israeli Settlers!
On Monday, June 22, 2009, a small but loud and vociferous demonstration
took place in front of the Quebec Superior Court, right in downtown
Montreal. Representatives of an important, but tiny Palestinian village,
by the name of Bil'in, had filed a law suit against two Canadian
construction companies, by the name of Green Park and Green Mount
International. Their illegality is that they are building apartments in
this village for the land-grabbers (settlers!), when it is not allowed
under international law. Although there is not much chance of success,
as the Canadian courts can rightly assert, that this case was outside
their jurisdiction. However, even a failure, in this case, will be of
symbolic importance. Hopefully, the Bil'in Palestinians will be able to
expose the heinous game of the settlers and the connivance of the
Israeli government and the Canadian Zionists!
Bilingual Slogans Effective
Some of the slogans at the demonstration, in French, were:
Quebec-Bil'in Solidarite; Israel Terroriste! Harper Complice; and, So,
So, So, Solidarite, Avec, Avec, Avec Bil'in. Some of the English
slogans were; When we say Green Park, you say shame on you; When we say
Green Mount, you say shame on you; Bil'in under attack, What we do?
Stand up and fight back; From the river to the sea, Palestine will
be free
