DEMOCRACY, SHAMOCRACY!
September 21: Sorry to say, as New Trend predicted, again and
again, the war will continue regardless of what the great
majority of the American people want. The U.S. Senate was
deadlocked today, 45 to 45, in a vote which was meant to
START THE PROCESS of withdrawal during the summer of 2008.
So, summer 2008 is out even as a starting point.
An Essential Book: Recommended by New Trend's "book worm."
Black Crescent: The Experience and Legacy of African
Muslims in the Americas by Michael A. Gomez,
Cambridge University Press, 2005, 385 pages.
The real value of this book is that it gives statistical
information on the very high percentage of Muslims among the
slaves brought by force from Africa to South and North
America. It also gives evidence of the hopeless conditions
under which the slaves were forced to accept Christianity.
Most important are the indications he documents that the
Muslim slaves continued to be loyal to Islam while outwardly
pretending to be Christians.
The book also discusses the re-emergence of Islam among the
Black populations of America in a very indirect and,
sometimes, unrecognizable and heterodox via media of Noble
Drew Ali and Elijah Muhammad. He also presents the
history-changing role of Malcolm X and the impact of Elijah's
son, Imam Warith Deen Muhammad, in bringing large numbers of
people into Sunni Islam. He seems somewhat unforthcoming [and
hostile] about the role of Minister Louis Farrakhan but
admits that Farrakhan has reconstructed the Nation of Islam
nearer to orthodox Islam and has, largely, repaired the rift
with W.D. Muhammad.
While recommending this book, we note, as always, that we do
not necessarily agree with its entire content. The book does
not look at the role of Imam Jamil, Imam Musa and other
outspoken African-American imams nor the negative activities
of Siraj Wahhaj and Zaid Shakir working within the
government-linked organization known as ISNA [the so-called
Islamic Society of North America] to create the Rand
Corporation's "American Islam."
Malcolm X [al-Hajj Malik Shabazz]
remains the turning point in the history of Islam in America.
He wanted no assimilation into an oppressive sytem. The book
discusses the meaning of the word "Shabazz." With Imam Jamil,
a new Malcolm X has emerged, totally following the Sunnah of
Muhammad, pbuh.

imperialism, this is a pioneering historical work dealing with
the struggle of the Malabar Muslims against the Portuguese
colonizers. Extensively annotated with more than 200 notes to
clarify local backgrounds, places and people.

Thinking Outside the Box: Jewish Version of World War II
Under Scrutiny: Why non-Germans hated the Jews and
loved Germany?

For 62 years after World War II, the propaganda of the war
against Germany continues to be presented as history. However,
with the opening up of war time archives, records and diaries,
quite a different picture is emerging, say revisionist
scholars. Of most importance is the literature related to the
suffering of the Jews. Owing to their control of the media,
International Jewry and Israel made objective discussion of
the war impossible and hazardous but progress is being made
in real history research.
Owing to the pioneering work of David Irving, Mark Weber,
Ernst Zundel, Germar Rudolf and many others, the
Zionist-Jewish groupings have been put in the defensive mode.
Censorship is the primary weapon used to squelch witnessing
of the issues from the German viewpoint.
One of the central discussions which are emerging is that of
"anti-semitism." Is this an expression of "evil in the world"
or did the Jews play a certain historically verifiable role
which turned people in Europe against them?
In Ukraine, for instance, many Jews worked with Stalin
to wreak havoc among Ukrainian populations. Huge numbers of
Ukrainians died in Stalin's collectivization projects which
were spearheaded by Jews. When the German panzer units broke
through the massive Russian armies in 1941, it looked like
liberation had come and significant numbers of Ukrainians
joined the German forces. Many Ukrainians went on the
rampage and took cruel revenge against the Jews. The killings
on both sides were horrendous but to attribute the killings to
Germans alone is not correct. The same was true of Poland
where the Soviets, with Jews in the lead, invaded and did
damage to eastern Poland. The Poles, as a result, have an
intense hatred of Jews which persists even today. After the
World War ended, there was a bloody attack on Jews by Poles
in 1946! Historic Catholic opposition to Judaism stoked the
fires but war was the spark.
Similarly in the military occupation of Lithuania by
the Soviet Union, the Jews worked for the Communists. Again
the German Waffen SS were seen by the people as liberators
with serious consequences for the Jews.
Remember that Stalin deported ENTIRE ISLAMIC POPULATIONS
because he suspected, often without proof, that they were
supportive of Hitler and saw Germany as a liberating force.
[The Palestinians, led by Mufti al-Hussaini, too had a very
positive view of Hitler which has been obscured by the
impossibility of objective discussion of the war in the
corporate media.]
The Second World War was not between "good guys" and
"bad guys."
Germar Rudolf's book DISSECTING the HOLOCAUST is a shattering
experience for those who had swallowed the Jewish version of
the war [including this writer]. Rudolf, an eminent scientist,
is in prison. Why? If his writings are not documenting the
truth, outnumbered by the entire major media in Zionist
control, why is he seen as a threat by the ridiculous
German "government?"

U.S. Muslims Stand with the Jena 6 [Louisiana]
September 20, 2007: There was a big rally today in Jena,
Louisiana in support of six black young men whom the system
is trying to convict in an incident related to sitting under
a tree where only white students were allowed to sit. It
reminds us of this racist system against which black people
were struggling in the late sixties. We have to struggle
against this system of injustice.
Really, has anything changed for the oppressed in this
society where the rulers boast of democracy to the world. As
Muslims while we fast in this month we must stand with the
oppressed and support the Jena six. We must make the link with
the struggle here with the struggle overseas. May Allah guide
us and keep us steadfast in the struggle against the Power
structure of white supremacy and domination in this world to
free the oppressed against the forces of evil. Lets stand
today with the Jena six as Muslims.
Let's us not separate from the people who are oppressed
in this country.

this news.

Letter: Questioning Dr. Omar Afzal, Supporting Saudi System
on Moon information

About Dr. Omar Afzal's letter I would like to point out that
the Umm al-Qura calendar has been developed at the King
Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) in Riyadh
based on the modern astronomical data. It is use in Saudi
Arabia only for civil purposes but for important occasions
such as Holy Ramazan, Hajj etc. 'the practice of seeing the
crescent with naked eye from Mecca, or more precisely, from
the Great Mosque of Mecca (al-masjid al-haram) where the
Ka'aba and the holy Black Stone (al-hajar al-aswad) are
located - is being followed.
I noticed that the Web site of arabnews.com was showing the
date as 1st of Ramzan but later adjusted as the beginning of
Ramzan was announced by the Ulema committee. Can Dr. Afzal
clarify his accusation with more details?
A Global Islamic Calendar based on astronomical calculations
for appearance of crescent in Mecca is the best way to
standardize Islamic dating procedures. Visibility of moon on
earth by naked eye is becoming more and more unpredictable
due to global warming and pollution of atmosphere due to
industrialization and space exploration. But Saudi Ulema
still insist on naked eye sighting of crescent at
Holy Ka'aba.

Response from Dr. Omar Afzal: The Saudi system is double-faced:
This is how the trick works.
It is an old trick to convince the unsuspecting Muslims that
Ummal-Qura calendar is only for "official purposes", and
Saudi kingdom alwaysfollows the Qur'an and the Sunnah
strictlyfor Islamic dates by 1) either sighted by reliable
"witnesses" on.. or 2) by "30-days complete" Hadith.
For this Ramadan:
1. First they created confusion by asking theMuslims in the
Kingdom to look for Ramadan moon on Monday, Sep. 10. as
"Rajab and Sha'ban dates were mixed up."
2. When a moon was not seen on Monday and Tuesday, every one
was waiting to start fasting from Wed.
3. Then came the announcement on Wed. Sep. 12 that Ramadan
begins from Sep. 13 Thursday: "The crescent moon of Ramadan
is not sighted anywhere in the kingdom. However, 30 days of
Shaban are completed on Wed. and the Prophet (S) has
said..... Therefore Ramadan begins on Sep. 13
It is an old tried practice. Ummal Qura calendar is
calculated by:
The conjunction date+ The moonset after the sunset in Makka
On this calculated first date a Hilal is never sightable
in Makka.
When a common man in Saudi Arabia looks to this "official"
calendar and finds that it is 29th date of the month (and
cares to look for the moon on his own) he cannot find a moon
anywhere on the horizon (as it is at best 28th date of the
lunar cycle).
Now Saudi witnesses come into the picture.
Often they claim seeing a moon even if this 29th calendar
date is before the conjunction time in Saudi Arabia. The next
step is for the Majlis al-Qada al-A'la. Sometimes the Majlis
accept this "Shahadah" as they did last Eid al-Adha and other
times ignore it.
Official Saudi "sighting" committees try their best and
announce their own observation.But they are ignored most of
the time and the Majlis uses them when it suits them as they
did this Ramadan.
When a moon is not seen even on the 30th date of the fixed
calendar, this trick comes handy for Saudi religious
authorities. They use "30 days completed" Hadith to declare
the beginning of the next month . They refuse to accept the
fact that on the 30th evening a moon is ALWAYS seen. If it is
NOT SEEN in clear skies then it is NOT 30th but 29th (or may
be even 28th) of the lunar month.
Also please remember: The first date of the Jewish calendar
and the first date of the Islamic month cannot coincide in
Makka because the Jewish dates were fixed some 2300 years ago
by the "Conjunction at Jerusalem" with 4 minor adjustments,
and the Islamic date in Saudi Arabia must beginby the sighted
moon. "Sighted" in Makka will always be a day behind the
"Conjunction at Jerusalem).
I hope this lengthy explanation helps. Please don't hesitate
to ask if something is still not clear.

Purdah and Progress Go Together in Muslim Women's Activism
in Kerala, India. Qur'an and Hadith Support Women's Rights

Today Muslim women in Kerala, India, are much better off than
the women of their community in other States of India. It is
because of Kerala State's highest literacy rate, 98 per cent,
and their persistent fight against injustice and
male –dominated rigidities.
Women in urban areas have become more conscious of offering
prayer in the mosques, and almost all mosques, run by the
progressive Islamic organizations, have special areas
earmarked for them.
Women in large numbers participate in congregational prayers
on Friday, and tharaweeh prayer in Ramadan. Some older
women spend the last ten days of the Holy month for "Ithikaf"
( sitting for meditation). The general perception of the
orthodox mullas is that women's entry to the mosque for
prayers is as taboo and they stubbornly object to their
offering prayers in the mosque.
The orthodox Ulema narrate an incident in support of their
objection that once a woman approached the Prophet (PBUH) to
be excused from going to mosque to offer prayers because she
had to nurse her ailing infant. The Prophet told her to stay
at home and offer prayer inside the confinement of her house.
This hadees has been misinterpreted by the traditional mullas.
Once Justice Fahima Beevi of Kerala High Court, after
finishing her official tour, wanted to offer prayer at a
mosque at Ullal in Kasergode. But she was turned off by
Mullas. In a fit of pique, she came again with the Police
escort to the mosque and offered prayer.
The rise of some Islamic reformist organizations such as
Nadavathul Mujahideen, Ahle Hadees and Jama'at-e-Islami in
the past century has promoted the status of Muslim women in
Kerala. It is a common sight in the Malabar region which is
predominantly Muslim populated that women including older
ones are pouring in to listen discourses on Islam.
The Malabar Muslims who are called as Mappila, economically
and educationally a backward community, are believed to be
descendants of the Arab mariners who had been frequenting to
the west coast for trade from the distant shores of the
Middle East before Christ. Since the Arab ships were sailing
on the wind power during onset of the monsoon in June to
October every year, the Arabs on their arrival in the region
would marry the native Hindu women on temporary basis and
divorce them when they return to their country of origin.
Such a temporary marriage had been prevalent in the Arab
countries in the pre-Islamic era.
Admittedly, Kerala State has achieved 100 per cent literacy
more than a decade ago. Kerala, with 1,058 females per 1000
males is the only State in India with a sex ratio favourable
to females. The life expectancy is 70 years and infant
mortality rate is the lowest (17 per 1,000).
There are now innumerable Muslim lady Doctors and Engineers
in the State.
They raised their voice for securing their economic and
property rights. They are well aware of the new trends and
developments in the globalization, as they are enjoying
unfettered access to the electronic communication and
international TV channels. They have almost recovered from
the traditional view of the women's duty is to bear pregnancy,
give birth, rear the children and perform household chores
within the confines of the home, while the man being the head
of the household and the breadwinner. Thanks to the higher
education and global awareness, this age-old concept has been
changed. Even if that be so, Muslim women are more caring and
accepting of their husbands and strict to observe
Islamic tenets.
Equally noteworthy is that more and more women are turning to
the purdah today without any imposition from the parents.
When asked about this trend, Zeenath Begam, an Islamic
activist, said that it gives freedom from the probing hands
which stealthily pinch to their midriffs while traveling in
train or bus.
Furthermore, it is a protecting cover for them from the
hawkish preying eyes of the public. The concept that women
are to gratify the collective male gaze has been changed.
The Islamic dress code is being considered as a dignity of
woman. The child marriage is a thing of the distant past.
Muslim women have challenged the traditional decree that a
girl has no say whatever in her marriage. The Prophet (PBUH)
said, " Let no virgin be married without her assent, and her
assent is silence". Now the marriages in Kerala are performed
with the assent of the bride, be she virgin or divorcee.
Women had been enduring suppression and oppression due to
wrong interpretation of Qur'an and Sunna.
In democratic India, women's representation in the local
administrative bodies continues to be pathetically dismal.
Arguably, there is a consensus among the Muslim jurists that
the supreme leader of an Islamic State should b male, but
women have traditionally been entitled to participate in "Al
Baya"- electing the supreme Ruler. And also, a woman is
entitled to be a judge (According to Hanefi school). During
election time, it is a common sight that a number of
purdah-clad Muslim women are staying in the queue to cast
their votes.
Quite remarkably, highly educated Muslim women are taking
active role in the emancipation of the women in general,
regardless of their faith, and rendering economic and medical
care to them. A few years ago, the conservative Mullas were
stubbornly against the use of loud speakers, the public
address system, and slaughter by machine. They were also
against translating Qur'an to the local language. Now this
archaic and bigoted stand has been challenged by Muslim women
in Kerala. They are now well aware that they have to swim
against the odds. Insha' Allah, let us hope, and pray, for
their success in their endeavor.

AFGHANISTAN: Ramadan Began with Massacre of Civilians

September 14: On the first day of Ramadan, the U.S. air force
bombed locations in Uruzgan province killing 48
civilians and Zabul province killing 27. [Ummat
daily newspaper, Pakistan.] The U.S. says that all those
killed were "suspected Taliban." Observers say this may be
true in the sense that the Taliban have widespread public
support in these provinces.
The same day the U.S. claimed that it has arrested an
Al-Qaida activist named Inayutullah who was facilitating
supplies from Iran into Afghanistan. The U.S. wants to blame
Iran for Taliban victories, a very far fetched story. In
another clash that day, 2 Spanish soldiers of NATO were
seriously wounded.
September 20: British and other NATO forces launched a major
offensive against the Taliban in Helmand province.
Reports indicate that the British are facing serious
difficulties. For the last 6 months, they have been trying
to dislodge the Taliban from Helmand province with no success.
The Taliban avoid the British attack and go to another area.
September 21: In a daring Taliban attack in Karzai's capital,
Kabul, a French military vehicle was blown up. At least one
French soldier was killed. France's new president Sarkozy has
condemned the attack as a "cowardly act."
September 20: Latest videos from Osama bin Laden and Ayman
al-Zawahiri indicate growing confidence about Islamic victory.
In his latest video, Osama, on behalf of the global Jihad
movement, declared that Pakistan's General Musharraf is a
kafir and Pakistanis should rise up and overthrow
him. Osama declared that Musharraf's attack on the Red
Mosque and Jamia Hafsa indicates that the General has left
the fold of Islam. Osama added that anyone who cooperates
with Musharraf is also an apostate. [The video must have
taken 2 months to come out because the Red Mosque was
attacked in July. His message must have reached faster on
the ground because northern Pakistan has been in Jihad
since July.]
The video from Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri, second in command of
global jihad, as reported by AP, coming out earlier the same
day shows much more sophistication. He speaks against the
Sudanese government for having agreed to let UN forces enter
Sudan. He also speaks about Algeria, Somalia and
Africa in general. The video also shows the military
leader of the Taliban, Mansur Dadallah, meeting the
operations commander of al-Qaida in Afghanistan.
Yet another Internet message was released at Ramadan time by
the leader of al-Qaida in Iraq, Omar al-Baghdadi, whom
the U.S. had declared earlier does not exist. He has put a
price on the heads of the Swedish editor and cartoonist who
published an obscene cartoon of Prophet Muhammad, pbuh.
[Our analysis of these videos and messages: they indicate that
the Jihad forces have successfully taken over large areas of
Afghanistan and Iraq and feel comfortable enough to send out
highly inflammatory messages. The U.S. is tracing them. An
American woman, Laura Marshall, spotted the latest videos on
Islamic web sites before they were released.]

Community, Newark: A Real Leader of Muslims in America
I'm writing to you in regards to one of your recent New
Trend Articles, 'Subject: ISNA's Camel+Baitul Salaam+Nahr
el-Bared+Algeria+anti-Hadith fitna+"young" Osama,' in which
you mentioned about Imam Siraj Wahhaj & MANA, in setting up
his own splinter group. "This fragmentation and COINTELPRO
type of activity. Instead of joining Imam Jamil's movement,
and that "Muslims of America, African-Americans in
particular, already have a genuine leader in Imam Jamil
al-Amin."
By joining the Salafi' Wahhabi controlled ISNA with MANA that
Imam Jamil al-Amin is also affiliated with did he (Siraj
Wahhaj) think African-Americans will be fooled by this game?
Well I tell you one Muslim African-American leader who is not
mentioned in the mainstream of ISNA, ICNA, and any other
Muslim organizations including the non-Muslim media, and who
is not fooled by this game: he is Amir/Imam Abdallah Yasin,
the head of the Baytul Khaliq Community/Masjid of Newark, New
Jersey and who also now resides in Tuskegee, Alabama.
He is (by the will of Allah(SWT)) the 'man with the
plan', one who has the vision, foresight, focus,
iman, and hikmah for Muslim African-Americans
and for all Muslims residing in America rather temporarily or
permanently, Immigrant and Indigenous all !
He is quietly more Dynamic than any of the Muslim
African-Americans today including Imam Warith Deen Muhammad,
Imam Zaid Shakir, Imam Siraj Wahhaj and even Imam Jamil
al-Amin who is presently incarcerated. Certainly, we would
be severely hamstringing ourselves to choose someone who is
likely (Allahu `Alim) to be behind bars for the rest of his
life! Additionally, an empowered Islamic Leader who is "free"
(sic) in this society would be more of a spokesman for
Imam Jamil and all other politically imprisoned
Muslims. If New Trend is really concerned about Islamic
Leadership in America, particularly among African-American
Muslims, they will pay heed to who he is, what he is trying
to do, and give full support to Amirate-America. This
support should be repeatedly given in their On-Line and Print
media to show full SUPPORT to Amirate-America, for the
Pleasure of Allah and the Future of Islam in America.
