Is there not such-and-such, is there not such-and-such, and so forth until dawn rises."

I wrote Mauri Salaakhan and even sent him a contribution to his organization—nothing. No response, no receipt of the funds sent-nothing. I am tired of these grandstanding sycophants always looking for the limelight. Lights, camera, action!!
Sorry to hear that Dr. Abdulalim Shabazz is resigning. I can imagine what he was dealing with. I was at Cheyney State 68-69. One of the classes I was taking was similar to a biology class I had in high school. The Americanized African American colleges have a lot of potential, but need major overhauling...

The latest on Mauri Saalakhan is that on August 11 he wanted to hold a meeting INSIDE the Capitol building, Washington DC. He thought he was going to get a big publicity bang but was denied entry. That Saalakhan would feel honored to be in that den of iniquity and war against Islam shows that his ego is way ahead of his Islam. He is refusing to divulge what kind of funding he got from State Department operator Abdur Rahman al-Amoudi. Wherever he goes, he tries to collect money and addresses from Muslims. He has a lot to answer for including his defense of Native Deen's State Department sponsorship. At one time he used to support CAIR but turned around and bit them when the funds he desired were not forthcoming. All this is on the record. [Editor]

Letter: Dr. Shabazz' stand Against the Dumbing Down of Students at Black Universities like Lincoln U.

I was very distressed to read that Bro. Shabazz resigned from Lincoln University last week. However, I completely agree with his frustration.

Many historically black colleges and universities (hbcu's) have always catered mostly to the Black-American bourgeoisie. There is a system in place that encourages students to follow tradition and antiquated campus laws rather than encourage them to critically think and analyze things for themselves. This is a dumbing-down process.

I have encountered professors who snicker and puff their chest out after failing a large number of their students! They are so ego-driven that they view their own students as competitors rather than a group of people they are supposed to teach. This was especially true of professors in the Chemistry Dept.

This reminds me of a story Minister Kevin Muhammad of Mosque No. 7 (Nation of Islam) in Harlem, NY told on the TV show Like It Is. He stated that African-Americans receive a training as opposed to learning a trade that will sustain them. He likened that to a dog who was trained to hunt other animals for food for his owner. His owner would eat the meat and give the dog the bones as his reward. One day, the dog got smart and decided to keep the meat for himself and bring the bones to the hunter. And, he told the hunter that if he wanted meat the hunter would have to go out and get it for himself.

When I left Lincoln University with my Chemistry degree, I did not know how to do a job search. [Dr. Siddique] You were the professor who taught me more than any of the professors in my major. That was my foundation. I thank you for that. There was still more that I had to learn on my own because I just wasn't prepared and I am not the only one. Many college students, white and black, are realizing that a $40,000 to $100,000 degree doesn't carry as much weight now as it once did. I have a little more stability now but I am still looking for something more fulfilling that involves writing as a career since I love to inform others to help.

I had a serious wake up call and many others will, too. I think that Bro. Shabazz might do well teaching in an after-school program where he can tutor math and influence so many students. Working within the system is too frustrating.

I pray that things work out for him.

Letter: U.S. Media Attempted Diversion from Abeer Vigils

Just a quick note about something I noticed: on the day of vigils in memory of Abeer al-Janabi, yahoo (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070814/wl_nm/iraq_baby_dc) makes a big deal about US occupiers rescuing a 9 month old baby named Fatima after she was hidden in a garbage heap, and bringing her to a military hospital.

Not only does the report seem to be intended to distract from Abeer's case, it also barely touches upon the reason WHY they presume Fatima was hidden: Fatima was from a besieged Sunni district in Baghdad being tormented by US-backed Shiite militias, and "authorities" believe she was hidden by her mother before she was killed. How dumb do these people think we are? They create a terrible situation and then expect praise when they stage one incident of proper behavior? Surely, the outpouring of sympathy for the child is to be commended, but that cannot be allowed to distract from the fact that the occupation and the Bush administration's "divide and conquer" tactics create hundreds, if not thousands, of Fatimas every day.

Abdul-Mohsen Al-Sheik responds to threats to attack Mecca

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — A Saudi official has condemned GOP presidential candidate Tom Tancredo's comment that the best way to deter a nuclear terrorist attack on America is to threaten retaliatory strikes on Islamic holy sites in Saudi Arabia.

Abdul-Mohsen Al-Sheik, head of Mecca's municipal council, said he was disappointed that the Republican Party did not issue an apology for remarks by Tancredo, a Colorado congressman.

Tancredo had suggested the U.S. threaten to bomb Mecca and Medina as a deterrent.

"Neither .. Tancredo nor anyone else can strike the Ka'aba in Mecca," Al-Sheik said. The Ka'aba is a cube-shaped stone structure draped in black cloth that Muslims around the world face during daily prayers. Muslims believe Abraham built it.

"If this candidate had a minimum knowledge of history, then this site would be holy for him before it being holy for Muslims because no adherent to heavenly religions doesn't know Abraham and (his son) Ismail," he said.

Tancredo told about 30 people at a town hall meeting in Iowa this month that a nuclear terrorist attack on the U.S. could be imminent and that the U.S. needs to quickly think of a way to stop it.

"If it is up to me, we are going to explain that an attack on this homeland of that nature would be followed by an attack on the holy sites in Mecca and Medina. Because that's the only thing I can think of that might deter somebody from doing what they otherwise might do," he said.

Allah said:

"Have you (O Muhammad) not seen how your Lord dealt with the Owners of the Elephant?* Did He not make their plot go astray? And sent against them birds, in flocks, Striking them with stones of Sijjîl. And made them like an empty field of stalks (of which the corn has been eaten up by cattle)" [The Qur'an 105:1-5]

*The elephant army which came from Yemen under the command of Abrahah Al-Ashram intending to destroy the Ka'aba at Makkah.

Letter: ISNA's Qalabazi* to keep in line with Saudi rulers.

You may have read ISNA's latest fatwa about Ramadan and Eidain 2007 dates. They have discarded their only 1 year old bogus criterion of 12:non GMT for Saudi Taqweem.

ISNA Fixed Ramadan Dates Violate Qur'an and Sunnah.

ISNA Fiqh Council has announced new Ramadan and Eidain 2007 dates this week.
These new dates are fixed by the Saudi Ummal Qura calendar, and not by the Hilal of the Qur'an and the Sunnah. ISNA FC knows full well that the Saudi criteria of the conjunction before Makka plus the moonset with or after the sunset totally contradicts the visible Hilal in Makka criterion of the Qur'an, the Sunnah and the unanimous practice of the Ummah for the last 1427 years.

Since 1978, ISNA Fiqh Council has made every effort to synchronize Islamic dates in North America with those of Saudi Arabia. Just a year ago in June 2006 ISNA Fuqaha and its so-called astronomical experts devised a completely bogus "Islamic-scientific" solution of "the conjunction before the 12:00Noon GMT" solely to attain this cherished goal.

But within a year, ISNA FC realized that its newly invented fixed dates cannot always tally with the Saudi dates. Hence hiding behind the European Council of Fatwa they have now openly adopted the Saudi dates. ISNA FC was juggling "sighted" Islamic dates for years always finding a way to force Saudi dates on the Muslims in North America.

Let us wait and see what ISNA does when Saudis change their fixed UQ dates as they did for Hajj and Eid al-Adha 2006? Will ISNA also change its dates or stick to its new fatwa?

Support Islamic Woman, Maryam Uloho, in Louisiana Prison

[Excerpts from her letter, with explanations in italics by Dr. Mulazimuddin Rasool.]

In a letter dated August 7, 2007 Sr. Maryam says:
As-Salaamu Alaikum Greetings My Dear Bro. Dr. Rasool
Guess you can see my arm is getting worse. Please excuse my writing. {Five years ago Sr. Maryam was blind-sided by a male guard shortly after she took shahadah because she refused to remove her khimar. She appears to have suffered nerve damage in her right shoulder} She continues: ...allow me to share updates with you...the court has already responded to me {Federal Court of Appeals New Orleans} twice...on the 3rd of August and the 6th of August. The first was an order for the Attorney General to respond within 90 days. They also had quite a few stipulations for them to address from my appeal, which means they read it {Sr. Maryam wrote her own appeal. A lawyers fee for a Federal habeas is $20,000. I have asked for assistance from the Islamic Community for five years. Where are the Muslims? To date we have a total of $250.00 in the account.} It appears the courts were a little impressed. Had it not been for my faith in Allah, I would never had considered taking on something so big. (She submitted 1,500 hand written pages-also her lawyer told her it takes up to two years for the court to read the appeal. They responded in less than two weeks. Allahu Akbar)
Sister Maryam also attempted to start a newsletter. She said the guards came to her room just after midnight to confiscate it. She was told by administration that she would not be allowed to get it published because it was too professionally done. So much for "corrections" and/or rehabilitation. She was grilled for over an hour and asked a bunch of questions. There is presently a monthly class on Islam being taught by a local Imam. Please make du'a for Sr. Maryam.

Eyewitness to Desecration of the Qur'an by U.S.

Sami Al Haj was captured in Pakistan, on December 15, 2001. He was on his way to work in Afghanistan as a cameraman for Al-Jazeera and had a legitimate visa. But he is held as an "enemy combatant".

A special report by BBC Radio 4 gave an exclusive glimpse of the world inside Guantanamo Bay detention centre, told through the letters of a Sami al-Haj.

British human rights lawyer Clive Stafford Smith represents Al Haj, and was able to visit him in 2005. According to Smith Al Haj reported that he has been beaten.

Smith said he had a huge scar on his face. Al Haj witnessed guards flushing a Koran down a toilet and defacing it with swear words. He has been sexually assaulted interrogated roughly 130 times.

On 23 November 2005, Stafford-Smith reported that, during (125 of 130) interviews, U.S. officials had questioned Sami as to whether Al-Jazeera was a front for al-Qaeda.

Smith offered the opinion: "He is completely innocent. He is about as much of a terrorist as my granddad. The only reason he has been treated like he has is because he is an Al-Jazeera journalist. The Americans have tried to make him an informant with the goal of getting him to say that Al-Jazeera is linked to al-Qaida."

Al-Jazeera has responded that al-Haj reported his passport stolen in Sudan in 1999, and that anything done with the passport after that date was likely the work of identity thieves.
