August 17, 2007: More than 60,000 people, including 10,000 women in Hijab, attended an Islamic conference in Jakarta, Indonesia, organized by Hizb-ut-Tahrir. Some top leaders of Jemaa al-Islamiyya were not able to reach the conference because the government says they are connected to Al-Qaida. Hizb-ut-Tahrir is an intellectual movement sparked by Shaikh Nabhani which gives primary importance to the re-establishment of the Khilafat.

August 13, 2007: The U.S. closed down its Consulate in Eritrea and ordered the Eritrean Consulate in Oakland, California to leave.

This follows allegations that Eritrea has been helping the Islamic fighters in Somalia to resist the Ethiopian occupation forces backed by the U.S. Hundreds of Somali civilians have been killed by Ethiopian occupation forces. The Somali Islamic fighters represent hope for the Somalis. During the brief Islamic rule, Somalia prospered and peace and rule of law prevailed.

Vigil for 14-year old Abeer Highlighted Brutal Iraq Occupation. U.S. troops Gang-Raped, Killed and Burned her. Humanity Weeps.

August 19, 2007: U.S. Muslims protested the brutality of the U.S. occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan by focusing on a specific crime of rape, murder and genocide. Observers say, this was an incredibly bold move which will send shock waves through America's collective conscience. For the first time since the invasion and occupation of Iraq, U.S. Muslims and their non-Muslim friends focused on the terrible atrocities being committed by the U.S. military.
The vigil was held right in the center of Washington DC, very aptly in Freedom Square, at 13th and Pennsylvania. There was an impressive lineup of speakers and presenters, most of them and the audience were from the new generation of Muslims from universities and colleges.

The program was meticulous in its organization. The PA system worked well. Security was strict but non-conspicuous. No one was able to disrupt the program although it was in a very public place. The program ended with dua followed by 'Asr prayers.
The chairperson for the two hour program was Sis. Nadrat Siddique.

BALTIMORE: A smaller vigil for Abeer was held on Charles street. It started very late and people who came on time missed it. After quite a while the protestors appeared and then moved to Towson Town market area and distributed flyers about the tragedy in Iraq to more than 100 people.

Lisa Sattar has shown me the letter you sent her telling her that you are closing down her account without explanation.

You have done the same with her son Ali's account as well as the accounts of her other two children.

As you know, these are citizens of the United States. They have committed no crime and you have not mentioned why you are closing their accounts.

Lisa Sattar has told me that she called you and you still did not give her any explanation.

The only explanation can be that Lisa is the wife of Ahmad Abdel Sattar and Ali is the son of Ahmad Abdel Sattar and Ahmad is a political prisoner imprisoned by the U.S. government for talking to opponents of the Egyptian government which is supported by the U.S. government.

Thus you are victimizing Lisa and Ali and the other two children for being the family of Ahmad Abdel Sattar. Under the laws of the United States, such victimization and discrimination is not permitted. The family has done nothing wrong.

Please reinstate the accounts of Lisa and her children. If this is not done within this week, I am going to call on all Muslims and their non-Muslim friends to boycott Sovereign Bank and to withdraw their accounts from Sovereign Bank if they have any such.

Bizarre Ending to Trial of Padilla, Hassoun and Dr. Kifah Jayyousi

August 16, 2007: Miami, Florida: Hispanic convert to Islam, Jose Padilla, was found guilty on charges of "conspiracy" related to terrorism. His co-defendants Hassoun and al-Jayyousi were also convicted.
Jose Padilla was held in isolation for three and a half years before he got the right to a proper trial. He underwent sophisticated forms of torture devised by the Bush administration. Specialists in the field say that torture which creates disorientation, hopelessness and dependence left Padilla broken and psychologically willing to please his oppressors.
No evidence or witnesses could be found against him. The government case depended on an application form which Padilla supposedly filled to be able to attend an al-Qaida camp. However there are no witnesses that he did fill the application form. His fingerprints are on the form but these could have been put on the form after he was arrested. He was not shown to have EVER been in Afghanistan.

The government wanted to prove the existence of a terrorist cell in the Miami area, so it used phone calls made by Adham Hassoun to Padilla. In turn Hassoun talked many times to Dr. Kifah al-Jayyousi. This according to the government shows that the three were a terrorist cell!
Dr. al-Jayyousi and Hassoun sent charitable funds to Bosnians and Chechens in the 1990s. This "evidence" was used in the trial to show that they were helping terrorists. The warehouse owner where Dr. Al-Jayyousi's charity stored relief goods testified that all the goods stored were legitimate charitable donations.
Jury trials were America's last line of defense for Rule of Law. However, in terrorism trials, juries are given rules for conviction. If the prosecution can provide certain kinds of information indicating a "conspiracy," then the Jury must convict. Reasonable doubt no longer saves the defendant.
This is America under Zionist rule.

Emerson claimed on the Glen Beck show that there is a "terror threat that is real" from Muslims within the U.S., particularly Imam Musa who leads Masjid al-Islam in South East Washington, DC.
Emerson is quite adept at twisting information out of context. He claimed that Imam Musa believes in the "imposition of Islam" on America. He preaches "attacks on the U.S." and honors "suicide bombers" as heroes, the Jew claimed totally out of context.
He also claimed that a Muslim working at Andrews Air Force Base is "head of security" at Imam Musa's mosque.
CNN has reached such a low level of dirty journalism that a featherhead like Emerson can appear on the screen, spit out all kinds of hatred and bigotry against Muslims, and there is NO RIGHT of REPLY.
CNN, in the interest of fair disclosure, should tell its audiences that Emerson is a Zionist Jew who has a track record of lies, white lies and damn lies. Israel is his "god" and anyone who supports resistance to Israel is a terrorist as far as Emerson is concerned.

THE BLESSED MONTH OF RAMADAN 1428

1.9 billion Muslims around the world will celebrate their holiest month of Ramadan starting Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007. During this month, healthy Muslim adults will observe fasting during the daylight hours. Muslim fasting is a total abstention from eating and drinking from dawn to dusk for 29 or 30 days of the month of Ramadan. In addition, avoiding immoral behavior and anger and showing compassion are part of the requirements of the fast. The purpose of fasting is manifold. Allah (God Almighty) mentions in the Holy Qur'an that fasting is prescribed for the believers as it was prescribed for the people before them, so that they may acquire self control and God-consciousness (Qur'an 2:183). Therefore, the purpose of fasting is to develop self-control, God-consciousness, improved health (by reducing or eliminating impurities from the body), and awareness of the plight of the poor, hungry, and the sick. Ramadan is a month of spiritual consciousness and high sense of social responsibility. The fulfillment of one's obligations during this month is rewarded by 70 times.

Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam, which include a proclaiming of faith, salaat (praying five times a day), zakaat (the right of the poor on the wealth of the financially able), fasting during the month of Ramadan, and hajj (the once-in-a-lifetime pilgrimage to the Ka'aba). It is an obligation on every adult and healthy Muslim to fast during the month of Ramadan. The month of Ramadan is also the month in which the Holy Qur'an was sent down from the seventh level of heaven to the first level, from where it was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in segments over a 23 year period. It is a very joyous occasion for the Muslims of the world. They fast during the day, pray, and read Qur'an during part of the night. There is a special night called the Night of Power, which is mentioned in the Qur'an (Chapter 97), as a night of mercy and light. Worship undertaken on this night is better than the worship of 1,000 months. On this night, Muhammad was chosen by Allah as the Messenger of Allah and Qur'an was sent to the first level of heaven. During this night, Allah sends down an army of special angels, under the leadership of Archangel Gabriel, who go to every nook and cranny of the earth to pray for the mercy of Allah (the God Almighty) and salvation of the believers.

Unlike common calendar, which is Solar based, Islamic calendar is Lunar based. It does not mean that Muslims worship moon. It is another way to count days of the month and the year. Like all Islamic months, Ramadan, ninth lunar month, begins after the sighting of the crescent—not the new moon. The probability of seeing the Ramadan crescent is highest on Wednesday, September 12, 2007, just after sunset on the Western horizon. The population of Muslims in the U.S. is estimated at 7 million, of which about 1 million live in the Southern California. All healthy Muslim adults including homemakers, school-going kids around the age of 13, factory workers, businessmen, and others will be fasting. Your Muslim neighbors will be getting up very early to eat theirsahoor, or pre-dawn meal, before starting their fast. So, don't get alarmed if you hear lot of noise next door. School staff has to show understanding and consideration towards Muslim students fasting during the month of Ramadan from Sept. 13, 2007 to Oct. 11, 2007. They should be assigned alternate activities instead of strenuous gym activities. Physicians should also understand that their Muslim patients might be fasting. Prescriptions should be administered so that they may be taken with the patient's pre-dawn or post-sunset meals. However, if the patients' life may be in jeopardy, explain it to the patients or seek help from a Muslim Chaplain at a local hospital, (like Imam Ali Siddiqui, 951-734-4599, Siddiqui@aol.com, a Hospital Chaplain in Southern California) or an Imam/director of a local Musjid/Islamic Center. According to Muslim physicians, there are some physiological benefits from Muslim fasting (total abstention from food and liquids) including lowering of blood sugar, lowering of cholesterol and lowering of systolic blood pressure.

At the completion of month of Fasting, Muslims all over the world celebrate their Eid al-Fitr holiday. It is the biggest Muslim holiday. It is a true thanksgiving for a Muslim believer for having the opportunity to obey Allah (the God Almighty) by observing Fasting. It is celebrated on the first day of tenth lunar month, Shaw'waal. This year, it will be on Friday, Oct. 12, 2007. The holiday begins with Muslims putting on their best preferably new clothes and going to the Eid congregation. Eid congregations are very large gatherings of Muslim men, women, and children across the country. You can witness these gathering at local Convention Centers, Fair grounds, and/or Community Parks. Afterwards, people greet each other with hugs and handshakes. The children receive gifts of money and toys. After the congregation, Muslims visit each other at their homes and hold lunches or dinners for family and friends. Don't be surprised if you are invited to an Eid dinner or Eid celebration by your Muslim neighbor or friend. Please do accept such an invitation. The hospitality, friendliness, and variety of international Muslim cuisine will pleasantly surprise you. Greetings of Ramadan, Ramadan Karim!

The local police and other law enforcement agencies should take extra precautions, during this month around the local masjid/ mosque/Islamic Center and where the Eid Congregation will be held, for the safety of Muslims and their facilities. The Muslim Communities across the nation appreciate the local police officers and the law enforcement agencies for doing such a great job for their safety. Muslim Communities are also thankful of volunteers from many faiths who have provided support and vigilance. Thank you! May Allah, the Creator, look after you in your hour of need. Amen!

INDIA at WAR: Sends 12,000 more Troops to Kashmir.
Biggest Ammo Depot Blown Up: 5 days of Explosions

India's army chief J.J. Singh declared on India's anniversary, Aug. 15, that there is no question of Indian army withdrawal from Kashmir or any reduction of troops. He announced that 12,000 more troops are being sent to the occupied Muslim land.
India's forgotten war against the people of Kashmir continues on a daily basis. Usually the news consists of Indian atrocities against the Muslim population, especially against Islamic teachers whom India sees as inspiring the spirit of Jihad. The people's view of Indian rule became apparent on India's anniversary, August 15, which the Kashmiri people observed as a day of sorrow, mourning and protest in all the cities, towns and villages of occupied Kashmir.

Just before India's anniversary, the Kashmiri people had something to cheer about. The biggest Indian Army ammunition storage dump, outside Srinagar, was blown up. The cataclysmic fires and explosions which followed continued for 5 days, August 13 to 17. Scores of Indian troops were killed in the vicinity of the ammunition dump. Hizbul Mujahideen has taken credit for the attack.
On August 20 there was a prolonged gun battle between Indian troops and mujahideen of Lashkar-e-Taiba in the Shopian area in which five Indian troops were killed and 2 mujahideen martyred.
The same day, there were three explosions in an Indian army training ground in the Bandipura area in which one soldier was killed and 25 wounded.

PAKISTAN: Northern Areas Rising Up in Response to Massacre of Muslim Women in Jamia Hafsa: Battle in South Waziristan.

August 17, 2007: In an attempt to stop Gen. Musharraf's atrocities against the people of Red Mosque and Jamia Hafsa, the Supreme Court released Asma, the heroic daughter of Maulana Abdul Aziz, and 21 male students from Musharraf's custody. The same day, Musharraf's troops once more barred worshippers from entering the Red Mosque for Friday prayers, an action seen as sacrilege by Muslims.
August 17. South Waziristan is up in arms. Islamic fighters attacked a heavily armed Pakistan army camp temporarily set up in the Sarikoi village. The battle raged for hours. The Pak army has admitted that it lost 7 troops killed and 11 wounded. In the Pakistani counterattack, with helicopters and artillery, 15 Islamic fighters were martyred.
The same day, a martyrdom operator hit a military convoy in the Tunk area. Pakistani losses were heavy but only 5 wounded have been admitted.
In the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan, Pakistani troops killed 4 Islamists trying to escape in a car. One of them was an Uzbek, one an Arab and 2 were Pakistanis.

August 20: In the Hangu area, west of Kohat, in Tal Tehsil on Kurram road: A martyrdom operator hit a Pakistan army convoy. Pakistani losses were heavy. The army has admitted 7 killed and 12 wounded. The entire area has been sealed off by the military.
In the city of Dera Ismail Khan, a sharpshooter killed a Pakistan army intelligence officer standing in a line of civilians waiting for a bus. No one else was hurt.
In Chiniot [in Punjab], a known prostitution house was blown up by attackers using a grenade. A known prostitute was killed and 4 wounded seriously. Journalists visiting the wreck saw condoms scattered on the floor. [Ed. note: Islamic Law prohibits fornication and adultery and gives deterrent punishments for open activity of this kind. Under General Musharraf, such corruption has become widespread.]
[Chiniot and D.I. Khan are "settled" areas quite far from the northern battlefields.]
HELP for IRAN: In the Blida area [not too far from Turbat in Baluchistan], Pakistani forces captured 17 members of an Islamic group known as Jundullah and recovered 20 Iranian nationals from them. Jundullah has been fighting Iran's attempts to impose its own brand of Islam on the people of Zahedan and adjoining areas.

Taliban Score Heavily: Islamic Leaders' Explain Aims.

August 18, 2007: In some of the heaviest fighting of the war, Taliban successfully ambushed U.S. troops in Nangarhar province. At least 10 U.S. troops and their interpreter were killed by a skilful guerrilla force of the wily Islamic fighters.

In the Singin area of Helmand province, a British force fell into a Taliban ambush and lost one killed and 5 wounded. However the British successfully launched a counterattack, killing 7 Taliban.

August 17: Near Kandahar, fighters bent on revenge entered a local governor appointed by Karzai and killed him and his three grown children. A NATO force panicked and wildly opened fire on the people in general killing 5 Afghan civilians and wounding three. NATO later apologized for the atrocity and promised food and money to the victims' families.

August 17: Mullah Umar, the legendary Islamic leader of the Taliban, gave a message to the Afghan people urging them to unite, rise up and expel the occupation forces of NATO and the U.S. He was speaking from his place of concealment on the occasion of the 88th anniversary of the independence of Afghanistan from the British. He also admonished his own fighters to be careful in their attacks so as not to injure civilians. [The U.S. has placed a bounty of $50 million on his head since 2001. Muslims in Afghanistan and Pakistan consider him the nearest, in our times, in charisma and piety to the Sahaba, the Companions of the Prophet, pbuh.]

Gulbuddin Hikmatyar, leader of Hizb Islami which supports Taliban, also in hiding and with a $10 million bounty on his head, spoke to a private Pakistani media outlet. He said that he is in Afghanistan, not in Pakistan. He added that no one from outside is helping the Taliban and the resistance in general. He categorically rejected the U.S. story that Pakistan is helping or Iran is helping. We are winning very slowly because we do not have outside help and have to use our resources carefully, he said. Osama, Ayman al-Zawahiri and Mullah Umar are alive and well, he said. He validated martyrdom operations from Islamic viewpoint if carried out carefully without harming civilians. [Hikmatyar had taken refuge in Iran before 9.11. He left when he found that Iran was supporting the U.S. He seems to have re-organized his support base, mostly in the strategic areas southeast of Kabul.]

Islam in the United Arab Emirates [UAE]: An Introductory Article: Will it allow Islam to Blossom?

Al Salaam Aleikum: in a look at Islam at the UAE one cannot help but to notice the number of Masjids/Muslim's Houses of worship, and also their beautiful design. One also can clearly notice that the number of Muslims who pray is reasonable, but small in comparison to the total number of Muslims, and one stands amazed at how non-Arabs may be also present in houses where the khutba (speech) is given in Arabic.

Though the UAE is trying to help in providing houses of worship that give speeches in English and other languages like Malyalam (Kerala/India), we also see some centers providing Urdu like a center at Sharjah called: Tableighi Center, which tries to make available many languages. However this group is closed to its members world wide, making Tableigh (teaching) of Islam only to Muslims, missing on the true meaning of the word: Tableigh, which means reaching non -Muslims.

Though the UAE does not create any problems for worshipers to attend the houses of worship, but the UAE has an Iron grip over what is being given in those houses in Friday speeches, and they do not allow anyone with good knowledge to share. Also if anyone tries to speak with any amount of freedom, he is expelled even from the country never to be allowed to come back.

Yes, the UAE is wonderful about building houses, not in allowing the building of the minds of Muslims, or the correction of the huge wrong the mainstream of Islam has fallen in.

Though the UAE may remind us Muslims of the wonderful days of Old when houses used to be built in numbers, but the UAE is the furthest from allowing creative Islam to act like it used to be in the great days of Baghdad. The UAE fears what the West may do if they allow Muslims to return to the Golden days. The UAE is trying to be the first in everything. I wonder if their attitude will change about Islam in allowing creative Muslims freedom of speech; also help them organize in a way to educate Muslims against Terrorism and wrong understanding of Islam, like the issue about Jihad the way Allah loves it, instead of all those heavy restriction they force over every creative Muslim mind.

Yes, this part of the world may be a wonderful place to return to the glory of Islam. It may as well stay as it is now, just another place as many like it, nothing special about it. Even if they are thinking to be the first and the best, about Islam they are still far from being so as long as they have huge restrictions and stopping the creative among us Muslims. Yes, the UAE has a choice, it may move to be the next Golden age for Islam, reasonable Islam that educates, or just stay as a place not so special, but is like any other all over the Muslim world.
