STOP IMAM JAMIL'S 23-HOUR LOCKDOWN !
Appeal from Br. Hodari Ali, prominent peace activist
As-salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullah: We are requesting all
concerned to call the Georgia State Department of Corrections/
James E. Donald-Commissioner/ 2 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, SE,
Twin Towers-East, Room 854, Atlanta, GA 30334/
phone no: 404-656-4569 or 404-656-0962.
Respectfully ask why the Georgia State Prison is continuing to
hold Imam Jamil in 23-hour lockdown, when he has already been
sentenced to life imprisonment plus 30 years without parole.
This is cruel and unusual punishment. Ask the official to supply
you as a tax-paying, law abiding citizen with a reasonable answer.
We would like to see a consistent flow of letters and phone calls
on this issue, and as always we encourage everyone to maintain
dignity and respect in expressing their concern. May ALLAAH,
Most Merciful, reward you...masalaam.
P.S. Imam Jamil has been held in 23-hour lockdown since
April 2002. Please circulate this request.
New Shock Waves from the Red Mosque and Jamia Hafsa Raped by
General Musharraf:
During the siege, the Pakistani commandos killed three young
Islamic women who had come outside the school. A witness saw
their bodies lying in the gutter.
Hundreds of Qur'ans and Hadith and Tafseer books were set on fire
by General Musharraf's commandos. Many Qur'ans were simply
smashed and thrown to the ground by the general's rampaging
bandit troops. People are trying to extract the torn Qur'ans
from the rubble.
A Jamaat-e-Islami leader [who is too scared to fight the army]
says that he fears scores of young women have been abducted by
the troops. The number of students killed is thought to be more
than 1,000. The regime is refusing to show bodies or let any
investigation be carried out. [More info is coming in]
Many of the girls' shoes, clothing, books, book bags and writing
materials have been found--but no girls.
Out of the young women and men who came out, NOT ONE has spoken
against the Islamic scholar Maulana Abdul Aziz and the martyr of
the Red Mosque, Abdul Rashid Ghazi.
Fighting Spreading in northern Pakistan: First Islamic Victory
July 25, 2007: Fox TV reported [very briefly] that Pakistani
troops have withdrawn from Miranshah, the capital of North
Waziristan. Earlier Pakistani helicopter led forces launched
an offensive against Islamic resistance in which they claimed
to have killed 35 Muslims but could not produce any bodies. The
government main office in Miranshah was blown up by "insurgents"
before the Pakistanis withdrew.
July 24. Reports indicate that Pakistani troops murdered an
Islamic Pashtun leader Abdullah Mehsud in the Zhob area of
Baluchistan. Pak claimed that Mehsud had killed himself. The
people of South Waziristan, his home area, came out 10,000
strong to bury him and wouldn't accept the regime's story.
In Bajaur, the bodies of two Pakistani troops were found, their
throats slit, with a note from the "Al-Zarqawi group" claiming
to have killed them for working for Bush and Musharraf and
threatening similar fate to others.
The people of the north are going to extremes to attack Pakistani
forces and in the process killing civilians along with troops.
In Kohat, fighters entered a mosque to slaughter 5 Pakistani
troops praying there. Praying is no longer considered enough
to distinguish Muslims from non-Muslims because munafiqs pray
too, as does Musharraf. Another act of rage was the July 25
rocket attack on the military town of Bannu. At least 14 people
were killed and 40 wounded. Eight of those killed were police
but 6 were civilians as were most of those injured.
The murder of hundreds of young Islamic women by Musharraf in
Jamia Hafsa has transformed Pakistan. As never before, the
Pakistani army and police are seen as a force of savages and
bandits not very different from the Hindu army which has
occupied Kashmiri.
AFGHANISTAN: Heavy Fighting Reported. Taliban Ascendant.
The reports of fighting are too many for New Trend to report. At
least 85 Karzai troops have been killed in Taliban ambushes in
the provinces of Zabul, Helmand and Kandahar. On July 24, in
Paktika province, 4 U.S. troops were killed in a Taliban raid.
Two NATO troops were killed, one Norwegian, and 8 wounded in
Logar province. Fighting is spreading.
On July 25, A French trooper was killed and 8 wounded in an
attack in Wardak province [in the north]. Earlier in Ghazni
province, Taliban captured 23 South Korean missionaries in broad
daylight on the highway and demanded that 23 Taliban be freed in
exchange. The extreme poverty in Afghanistan lured the
missionaries who thought the time had come to spread
Christianity to the helpless Afghans. A tragic situation
has developed.
New Trend Investigates
Shaping an "American Islam." Bush Administration,
"Native Deen," and "Imam" Magid of ADAMS. Singing for
the State Department
As New Trend noted previously, "Imam" Magid, the Vice President of
ISNA [the so-called Islamic Society of North America] and head
honcho of ADAMS Center, is a frequent visitor to synagogues which
are supporters of the terrorist entity known as Israel.
Now we find that a hip-hop trio known as "Native Deen" is dearer
to the Bush administration than "Imam" Magid. Native Deen,
led by one Joshua Salaam, is so dear to the Bush regime that they
sent him on a global tour.
Native Deen is publicized by the U.S. State Department on
its web site. Few Muslims can boast of such a close relationship
with the Bush administration. The State Department is
matter-of-fact about its funding and support for Native Deen
[Joshua Salaam, Naeem Muhammad, and Abdul-Malik]. The State
Department's website bluntly states:
"In the fall of 2006, Native Deen traveled to Turkey,
Dubai, the Palestinian Territories and Israel on behalf of the
U.S. Department of State."
http://usinfo.state.gov/xarchives/display.html?p=washfile-english&y=2006&m=December&x=20061212165055bcreklaw0.8355371
Thus while the U.S. government is heavily involved in the
oppression of Muslims in the U.S. and around the world, it is
sending out Native Deen and others to create a contrary
impression. Notice the inclusion of "Israel" in the itinerary of
Joshua Salaam etc. Thus, the State Department is saying, it is
normal for Muslims to visit the terrorist entity, Israel, as if
it is a friend of the Muslims.
In addition to the trip organized by the State Department noted
above, Native Deen is being used to infiltrate Africa on
behalf of the U.S. government. Joshua Salaam ad his two buddies
go around singing and swinging about "Allah" and Islam in a style
which is clearly bid'a and are hosted by U.S. embassies in Africa.
Instead of Salaat, Faraid, Nawafil, these tools of the
oppressive American regime are teaching singing and swinging.
Considerable funds are involved in these activities.
According to the website of the U.S. Embassy in Tanzania:
"Native Deen's concert is sponsored by the American people,
and includes support from PEPFAR (the U.S. President's Emergency
Fund for AIDS Relief), the U.S. Department of State and
Holiday Inn."
http://tanzania.usembassy.gov/pgthumbs070707a.html
What would the people of Sudan and Somalia say about the dastardly
activities of Native Deen [Joshua Salaam and his two
buddies]? While America is undermining and starving these Muslim
nations, the State Department is using funds in the name of AIDS
Relief to send out Native Deen. The Bush regime seems to
be saying to Muslims in Africa through Native Deen and
Joshua Salaam: As Muslims, you don't have to stand up to
oppression, you don't have to condemn the imprisonment of
Imam Jamil, you don't have to focus on the Qur'an and the Hadith.
Instead focus on Native Deen, sing and swing.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS are that "imam" Magid of ISNA and ADAMS has
hired Joshua Salaam to work with the youth coming into the mosque.
Also, on July 28, the Islamic Society of Baltimore [ISB] is
bringing Native Deen to entertain young people of
Masjid Rahmah. On July 29 Native Deen will be fundraising
in ADAMS for an obscure new group which wants to raise a quarter
million dollars.
The question arises, what are the values and perspectives of
Native Deen about Muslim women. We invite Native Deen
to write to New Trend and let us know what Joshua Salaam thinks
about the rights of Muslim women.
In ADAMS Center and in ISB, Joshua Salaam will be dealing with
young people, including young Muslim women. In that context, it
is only fair that he should have an opportunity to state how
Muslim women should be treated. New Trend is the only Muslim
publication in the USA which will publish criticism of itself
in its own pages. So Native Deen, Joshua Salaam, go ahead,
tell us if we have written anything incorrect. What are the
rights of women? Do write soon, otherwise we have others waiting
to write about you.
Islam Has Declared Haram [forbidden] Even the
Slightest Cooperation with Oppressors
by Kaukab Siddique
Officials of CAIR, ISNA, MPAC, MAS etc cannot continue to
cooperate with the oppressors and still claim to be Muslims.
In Islam there are no two views on this:
"And incline not to those who are oppressors or the fire will
touch you, and ye will have no protectors other than Allah, nor
shall ye be helped." [The Qur'an 11:113]
In Islam, the question of cooperating with non-Muslim rulers who
oppress Muslims, such as Bush is doing in Iraq, Afghanistan,
Palestine, Pakistan, Somalia and Sudan, simply does not arise.
However, there are clear texts from the Prophet, pbuh, and his
Companions, r.a., and their Companions, r.a., which make very
clear the meaning of 11:113 as regards Muslim rulers:
"There will be rulers after me who will tell lies and oppress
people. One who calls their lies 'truth' and helps them [in any
way] in their oppression, such a one is not of me and I have
nothing to do with him and he will not be anywhere near me at
the Spring of Abundance (on the Day of Judgment)." [Prophet
Muhammad pbuh, Hadith in the collections of Nasai, Tirmidhi and
Hakim, narrated by Ka'ab bin 'Ujra, r.a.]
"...One who approaches human rulers gets involved in Fitna
[disruption and turmoil.]" [Prophet Muhammad, pbuh, Sunan
of Abu Dawud, narrated by ibn Abbas, r.a.]
Prophet Muhammad, pbuh, said: "In the future there will be rulers
over you, some whom you will know and some whom you won't. One who
stays away completely from rulers will be forgiven by Allah, one
who looks at them and considers them bad will be saved [by Allah],
but one who accepts them and follows them, Allah Almighty will
remove him from His Mercy." A person asked: Should we do jihad
against such rulers? The Prophet, pbuh, replied: Not as long as
they establish worship of Allah. [Hadith, Sahih of Muslim]
Let us look briefly at the establishment of powerful rulers.
Should we cooperate with them because they are powerful and can
harm us and we cannot fight them? What did the outstanding
scholars of Islam say when the non-Islamic rulers established
themselves. Here is a sample:
Saeed bin al-Musayyeb, one of the greatest scholars of Hadith in
the classical era of Islam said: When you see a person who knows
Islam hanging around rulers, shun him because he is thief.
'Auzai, another giant of Islamic learning from the golden era of
Islam said: With Allah Almighty, there is none worse than one who
knows Islam yet goes to the rulers.
Makhul, another great early narrator of Hadith said: One who
learns the Qur'an and gains knowledge of Islam and then approaches
the ruler out of greed and to flatter, every step towards the
ruler takes him towards the fire of hell.
The last Will of Abdul Rashid Ghazi. Like Abdullah ibn
Zubair, r.a., and Hussain ibn Ali, r.a., he would not bow
before Oppressors.
[Translated from Urdu.]
"When this letter reaches you, those inside Lal Masjid
might have been martyred. Around 15,000 security
forces and paramilitary troops with all their
sophisticated weaponry would have crushed unarmed and innocent
students. They would have conquered the Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa.
Lal Masjid is looking like Karbala at this time. The scattered
bodies of martyrs, the cries of wounded students, the destroyed
minarets of mosque and its four walls are crying: we have only
been punished for demanding Islamic Shari'a for which 600,000
people were martyred when Pakistan came into being.
"In this entire scenario the unexpected arrest and
interview of the Head Cleric of Lal Masjid and the
founder of the student's movement Maulana Abdul Aziz
dressed in a Burqa caused a lot of disappointment
among the Islamists. The media deliberately tried to
paint a wrong picture of it and most of the people
were deceived. Ordinary people thought that Maulana
Abdul Aziz was trying to escape from the fear of death
and he was leaving behind his sincere companions and
students. Those people who don't have any abilities to
analyze the situation should think that if Maulana
Abdul Aziz was really trying to escape from death, then
why would his son, daughter, mother, wife, and myself
(his brother), his sincerest companions and students
not follow the same strategy?
"I believe that instead of refuting allegations of our
opponents it is more relevant to tell our broken
hearted supporters that Maulana Abdul Aziz became a
victim of enemy's conspiracy. Even though there is a
certain mystery drawn over his arrest, with the
passage of time the truth will be revealed. We know
how much Maulana Abdul Aziz loves martyrdom in the way
of Allah and what an enthusiastic mujahid he is in the
caravan of Jihad. The only mistake he made was
trusting some people at a very critical time and he
will have to suffer the consequences of this mistake.
The truth is that Maulana Abdul Aziz was not afraid of
death; neither was he fleeing from it. He had written
his will, taken ghusl and was waiting for martyrdom
but then a ray of hope that the lives of the rest of
the people could be saved created the resulting
trouble. Rest assured, that in the near future the truth
will be revealed.
"I must say that Maulana Abdul Aziz and his companions
started the movement only for the pleasure of Allah
and implementation of shari'a. The amendments in
Hududullah [limits set by Allah], destruction of
mosques, the spreading of vulgarity and nudity, self
made explanations of Islamic creed, military assaults
on the Jihad-oriented people, handing over Muslims to
kuffar's prisons like sheep and goats, and the wide-spread
secularism were not bearable for us and these are the
reasons why we decided to launch the movement.
"I also want to clarify that none of the students inside
Lal Masjid or Jamia Hafsa were forced to stay with us.
All the students remained with us at their own will.
Their hearts have been changed by hearing the speeches
of Maulana Abdul Aziz.
I also want to mention that we want the just system of
Islam in our country. We are looking forward to seeing
the implementation of Shariah laws in the courts of
justice. We want the poor to have justice and bread.
We want to end bribery, illegal methods, favoritism,
injustice, and vulgarity. The solution to all these
problems is the implementation of Islam and that is
the only solution. This is the order of Allah and also
a demand of the constitution of Pakistan.
We have denied ourselves the comforts of this life and
instead have chosen the difficulties of this path. We
are fully aware of what we are doing and we have chosen
the life of the hereafter over the life of this world.
The courage of students with me is sky high and I
would not be wrong in saying that their courage is a
source of motivation for me. I ask what crime have
these students committed? Is the punishment of
standing in the way of Allah with the intention of
correction of some wrong people a reason to destroy
innocent people with explosives? There are people who
claim that we challenged the writ of the state but why
did they deny the laws of Allah and challenged His
writ? These people who have fired bullets on the
bodies of students of Qur'an and Hadeeth are
oppressors indeed.
On this occasion the media has also shown its biased
behavior, but we leave this matter with Allah. In the
end, as a part of my will, I would repeat my words to
the Islamists, the members of our movement, the
students, their relatives and the media that our
movement was started with sincere purposes. We remain
firm on our demands of implementation of Sharia. We
are satisfied that we chose the way of sacrifice.
Sacrificing life for the implementation of Islam is an
honor to us. We are not disappointed in the mercy of
Allah and we believe that our blood will become the
message of revolution. This world sometimes labeled us
as the agents of taghut and sometimes they labeled as
us mad fanatics. But today the rain of bullets is
proof that we are fighting in the way of Allah. Indeed
the people of truth faced different trials. If our
Amir Sayyidina Hussein r.a. was martyred in
helplessness then we are proud to be part of the same
caravan. Insha' Allah, the Islamic revolution will
come to this country.
The Gardens will perceive spring but we will not be
there to see it.

Doubts cast on terror suspect's case in Australia
Published: Saturday, 21 July, 2007, 02:17 AM Doha Time
SYDNEY: Prosecutors may have given a court incorrect information
about links between an Indian doctor detained in Australia on
terror charges and failed car bombings in Britain, a report
said yesterday.
Prosecutors claimed six day ago that a mobile telephone SIM card
once owned by Dr Mohamed Haneef had been found in a burning Jeep
that rammed into Glasgow airport late last month.
But the SIM card was in fact seized by British police when they
arrested Haneef's second cousin, Sabeel Ahmed, in Liverpool eight
hours after the attacks, the Australian Broadcasting Corp said.
Haneef, 27, a hospital registrar on Australia's eastern Gold
Coast, was charged last Saturday with providing "reckless"
support to a terrorist organisation by giving a SIM card to
members of the unnamed group.
But the ABC said sources both in Britain and Australia had
confirmed the SIM card, which Haneef claims he left with Ahmed
before Haneef left Britain last year, was not found in the petrol
and gas-laden car at Glasgow airport.
"It seems the facts are not as they were presented in court," ABC
radio said.
If verified, the lack of a direct link between Haneef and the
failed car bombing could weaken the prosecution case against the
doctor who was arrested as he tried to leave Australia on a
one-way ticket on July 2.
Sabeel Ahmed is charged in Britain with withholding information
but is not accused of terrorist activity.
Last Saturday, prosecutor Clive Porritt alleged Sabeel Ahmed had
passed Haneef's SIM card onto his brother Kafeel Ahmed, alleged
to be the driver of the flaming Jeep at Glasgow, and that the
card was found in the car's wreckage.
Leading Australian criminal defence lawyer Peter Faris QC said
the alleged error in the prosecution's case put before the court
had been "a shocking mess-up" that could compromise the
entire case.
"You can't get something that's so central so wrong," he told
ABC radio.
The Australian Federal Police (AFP) refused to comment on the
report, but Commissioner Mick Keelty defended his force against
the allegation of incompetence.
"I'd deny that the AFP's been incompetent and I think Mr. Faris
should keep his comments to himself," he said, insisting that any
claims over evidence should be dealt with in the courts, not in
the media.
Haneef's lawyer Peter Russo could not confirm the reports of
flaws in the case, but said he has had doubts from the start over
the evidence against his client and that the new alleged
revelations could help him.
"It's one of those matters that we will just have to watch
unfold – whether or not it's harmful to his cause or helpful,"
he told Sky TV. "I personally think this does help him."
Another of Haneef's lawyers this week leaked to the Australian
newspaper a transcript of a police interview with Haneef that
was reportedly inconsistent with the evidence presented in court
when Haneef applied for bail this week.
The Australian said yesterday that it had analysed the transcript
and a police affidavit filed with the court and had discovered
"major discrepancies" on two key issues.
A magistrate on Monday granted Haneef's bail application, but
just hours later Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews revoked
Haneef's work visa and ordered him detained, citing information
received from police claiming Haneef was or had been associated
with people involved in "terrorism".
But Andrews was adamant yesterday that the reports of flaws in
police documents would not make him reverse his decision to
detain Haneef.
"The minister is not reviewing his decision to cancel the visa
of Dr Haneef," a spokeswoman for Andrews said.
"Nothing that has been reported in the media alters his decision
that was made based on information provided to him by the
Australian Federal Police and is a broader range of information
than was provided to the magistrate," she added. – AFP
Letter: Re: Bootlicker groups CAIR, ISNA, MPAC, MAS...
Reader thinks we should provide evidence and tone down
Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuhu.
As per the reference, I have some observation to make. First, let
me introduce myself to you. I am a Bangladeshi by origin and
pursuing my PhD degree in Arabic and Islamic Studies at the
Middle East Center, University of Utah. I have some teaching
experience at school, college, and university levels. I also
worked several years as Muslim school administrator here in the
US. I consider myself a concern and committed Muslim who has
background of Shibir and ICNA, still inactive member of it, but
critical of all. As a revisionist, I have developed some positive
view towards Dr. Israr's view, CAIR's activities including the
Jamat al-Muslimin, especially your view and writing efforts.
The reason I am writing to you is the comment you made, as
referred to above, in today's article. I have failed to agree
with your condemnation of those organizations in this language:
"Bootlicker groups like CAIR, MPAC, MAS do not realize that USA
is a failed state." I am sure those organizations will neither
agree with your comment, 'bootlicker' nor will approve you
condemning them as such. So, the onus is on your shoulder, simply
due to the condemnation and introducing words for them to others
mouth like me by reading your article. By doing so, you don't
seem to be on the safe side. I believe, there is a better and
dignified way of saying the same thing that you are trying to
communicate. We all are trying our best, some of us may be trying
genuinely and sincerely, while many of us are not. Who knows,
those who are not, they may be you and me, only Allah knows the
truth. I also don't think that if the Prophet, s, was to deal
with the present day situation, as you and I are, he would have
used the term, 'bootlicker' to define the quality of those others
who would not follow him. Also, remember, we don't have the divine
guidance, the way the Prophets had.
Therefore, I would encourage you to please continue with your
mission but try to change your attitude towards others who do not
think or act alike, because they are different but they may still
be accepted by Allah and blessed here and in the here-after. Who
knows? Also, that we do not hate anyone for his evil act, but hate
the evil act itself and give every body a benefit of doubt. Who
knows, even the ardent hypocrites, as we learn from the example
of the Prophet, deserve to be treated with benefit of doubt. To
my understanding, for Muslims, having differences of opinion and
views is a blessings, not curse, as long as we are sincere and
committed. Yes, we have problems and issues, but we have to
address them with a positive attitude because we only hate the
dhulum, but not necessarily the perpetrator of the
dhulum himself or herself. We don't take issues personally,
but morally and on principle. We strike the opposition, if and
only if we are struck first, and only if that is to please Allah,
not our ego, as Imam Ali, r, refrained from killing his enemy who
were under his arm, simply because the enemy spat on him, as he
realized that at that moment killing the enemy would have
reflected his personal anger and rage caused by the dying enemy's
spitting. So, we have all reasons to be kind and objective while
fighting the odds and enemies, and no real reason to curse others
and demonize them, especially the Muslims, simply because they
think and act differently. Allah knows best.
wa salam. Haider Bhuiyan [Utah]
Editor's note: New readers should look for evidence in the
material we have already published. CAIR, ISNA, MPAC, MAS are
quite proud of their connections with FBI, Pentagon, State
Department, White House etc. They proudly publish these facts
themselves, so research is easy. Bhuiyan can begin with a
reading of Islamic Horizons or MAS interview on C-Span.
We do not use obscenities against these crooks but Islam does
permit the oppressed [whom we represent] to use strong language.
