attacks on June 9 and 10, though reports indicate that Islamic leaders
Shaikh al-Abssi and Abu Huraira have been wounded. At least 58 Lebanese
troops and 45 Fatah al-Islam mujahideen have been killed. The Lebanese

PAKISTANI NEWS: Latest
June 1 to 10: A severe heat wave has reduced entire populations to misery
after government was not able to provide continuous electricity supply
and water. There have been water riots in Karachi.
The Musharraf regime brought the Imam of the Ka'aba, Islam's holiest
shrine in Arabia, Abdur Rahman al-Sudais, to Pakistan to counter the
growing flow of support for the Islamic women of Hafsa university and
the Islamic men of Lal Masjid in Islamabad. The Imam supported Musharraf
but gradually the tables were turned when he was told that Jamia Hafsa
and Lal Masjid are standing for Shar'ia while Musharraf is westernizing
the country and spreading immorality far and wide. Now [June 9] the Imam
says he spoke against Jamia Hafsa because he did not know both sides of
the story.
The leader of the Pakistani Taliban, Haji Umar, located in South
Waziristan, warned Musharraf [June 3] that if he attacks Jamia Hafsa
and Lal Masjid, the forces of Islam will declare Jihad
against Musharraf.

What Stories the warmongers tell the American People!
June 10, 2007: Senator Joseph Lieberman called for the use of force
against Iran. Lieberman is backed by Jewish Americans concentrated in
the state of Connecticut. He has been consistently for war against the
Muslim world and is a staunch supporter of Israel. Lieberman claims that
Iran is helping the "insurgents" in Iraq though no such evidence exists.
The warmongers reach the element of irrationality by claiming that Iran
is also supporting the Taliban!
However, on June 4, 2007 Hamid Karzai, America's main man in Kabul, made
an impassioned speech in favor of Iran saying that Iran is his "very close
friend" and is helping against the Taliban. U.S. Secretary of Defense
Robert Gates, who was visiting Karzai, said that there is no evidence of
Iranian government supplying the Taliban, though munitions may be coming
in from Iran. [New Trend comment: During wars, there is never a vacuum
for arms supply: Arms can come from anywhere for people willing
to fight.]

Observers say that Obama has been brought up to keep Hillary Clinton in
check. He is striving to prove that he is more pro-Israel than Hillary.
During the Democratic Party's "debate" on June 4 [CNN] he declared:
"I believe that the Israelis want peace." [Comparable to Bush's claim
that "Sharon is a man of peace."]
He advised the Palestinians: "They have to accept Israel's right to
exist" and to give up violence. [He was telling the victim not to
be violent!]

A tough City on way to Embracing Islam
June 8, 2007. Jamaat al-Muslimeen's literature was given to 200 people
at the Masjid adjacent to the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
The effort is aimed at organizing Jamaat al-Muslimeen in this huge city
where Islam is spreading on a big scale.
The literature included the main points from Malcolm X's message
which taught SEPARATION from the power structure. Also included was the
New Trend report on Jewish role in the slave trade and Jewish
ownership and sale of slaves in America. A revealing report on the
emergence of Fatah al-Islam in Lebanon as well as points from the
struggle of Masjid Hafsa's women and Lal [Red] masjid's uprising
in Islamabad, Pakistan against Bush's friend General Musharraf
were included.

Looks like the U.S. threw a big net to trap as many Muslims as possible
and to create the fear that JFK airport and all of New York was in
danger. Fortunately the terrorism story was so absurd that it has been
ridiculed by most people, including, surprisingly, by MSNBC commentator
Keith Obermann. Here was what the U.S. was trying to do:
Involve the Shia community in Guyana and Trinidad.
Through them involve Venezuela and then Iran.
Involve the Sunni community by trying to link it to a local group known
as Jamaat al-Muslimeen [no longer active] in Trinidad. [No connection
to Jamaat al-Muslimeen in USA.]
The informant played a big role. He worked hard to get the Muslims to
talk against the USA and then to work it up into a terrorism program.
He trapped De Frietas, a Guyanese Muslim who used to work at JFK airport
ending 1995. After 12 years, it was still not old news for the government!

"Court documents filed in New York which described the informant De
Souza as a convicted drug dealer, said he began working for the U.S.
government in 2004 after his second drug-trafficking conviction
in the 'Big Apple'.
Once he proved to be a credible source, he was sent to meet De Freitas
in 2006.
De Souza, a U.S. citizen of stocky build, reportedly told persons
with whom he boarded here that he was originally from the
Dominican Republic."

All civilians living in Gaza are collectively guilty for Kassam attacks
on Sderot, former Sephardi chief rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu has written in
a letter to Israel's Prime Minister. Eliyahu ruled that there was
absolutely no moral prohibition against the indiscriminate killing
of civilians during a potential massive military offensive on Gaza
aimed at stopping the rocket launchings. The letter, published in
Olam Katan [Small World], a weekly pamphlet to be distributed in
synagogues nationwide this Friday, cited the biblical story of the
Shechem massacre (Genesis 34) and Maimonides' commentary (Laws of
Kings 9, 14) on the story as proof texts for his legal decision.

Two patterns have emerged from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
There is the anti-Islam pattern. In Iraq, Allawi, al-Hakeem and other
collaborators invited the occupiers and the American armada
occupied Iraq.
Then there is the Islamic pattern. The mujahideen fought the Soviets
and then went back to try and topple the tyrants in their own countries.
The Islamic pattern is now working in Iraq. The resistance there is
now sending trained fighters, steeled in the battle against America,
to Lebanon.
The anti-Islam pattern is working too in Lebanon. Siniora, Gamayel
and Jumblatt would like the Americans to come in. Plans are underway
for a U.S. military base in northern Lebanon. Syria is very weak
and unable to fight.
In that context, Fatah al-Islam has emerged. It has these characteristics:
It is independent and does not take help from any entity.
It honestly declares that it agrees with al-Qaida's ideology although
it has no links to al-Qaida.
Its fighters cover the spectrum of Islam. Though the leader is
Palestinian, the fighters are from Lebanon, Syria, Pakistan
and Afghanistan.
When they are not fighting they are praying or reciting the Qur'an and
they have big beards and dress like Afghans.
It's a small group but they do not stay within the boundaries of
middle eastern politics and hence are slowly gaining support. Why?
because the people are sick and tired of national politics.
One big sign of their success is that they are being opposed by the
U.S., Israel and the Arab rulers.
TEN PLANES full of ammunition have arrived to re-supply the Lebanese
army. These planes are American, Jordanian, Kuwaiti and UAE.
Because the Fatah al-Islam force is small, ultimately it might not be
able to stop the occupation of Lebanon but it is becoming a catalyst
for resistance [as in Iraq].
A few words about Shaikh Shakir al-Abssi. At one time he joined the
PLO forces to get military training and rose to the rank of general.
His plane crashed when the co-pilot died in flight. This incident
opened his mind to Islam. He went to Yemen and memorized the
entire Qur'an. He was arrested by the Syrians for attacking Israel.
CAIR vs Steve Emerson, Frank Gaffney, Stephen Schwartz et al

Muslims in America are often puzzled by the phenomenon of apparent
opposition between CAIR-ISNA and Zionists like Emerson, Gaffney and
Schwartz. The media play an interesting role in this situation. Every
now and then they bring CAIR-ISNA people to the TV screens as
representatives of the Muslims of America. More often, especially
when terrorism is to be discussed, Steve Emerson appears on the
screen. Sometimes, the "Muslim" lunatic fringe, Manji, Warraq etc
[whom the Steve Emerson types support] are the representatives of
the "Muslim mainstream" and CAIR is left to stew in its own juices.
I want to help Muslims sort out the puzzle of "Muslim representation"
on the media. First look at the media's basic assumption, the requirement
for acceptance: One has to accept Israel. Muslims often do not realize
what "Zionism" means in our times and hence are confused by the
competition between Jews, Christians and "Muslims" in support of Israel.
* A Zionist is one who believes that Israel is a legitimate state and
has the right to exist in Palestine.
* Jewish Zionists believe that God gave them Palestine in biblical
times; hence in these times they have only taken back what was
originally theirs
* The secularist Jewish Zionist believe that the United Nations gave
them parts of Palestine [owing to their suffering in the "holocaust"]
and hence Israel is a legitimate entity.
* The Christian Zionists believe that Israel should be supported so
that all the Jews would be gathered in Palestine, so that the final
war, armageddon, may happen. Allegedly, that's a requirement for the
return of Jesus, pbuh.
* "Muslim" Zionists believe that Israel is now well established. It
should be recognized as a legitimate entity so that Muslims in America
do not have to oppose a central doctrine of the American power
structure. Once Muslims recognize Israel as legitimate, they will be
accepted by America's power brokers and then get their people elected
to various positions. The way to assimilation will be smoothed over.
Many Muslims, the "Muslim" Zionists argue, are already culturally
assimilated. Why should they be blocked from entry into the portals
of power just because of non-acceptance of Israel.
* Some from among all three kinds of Zionists, occasionally, object
to Israel's harsh measures against Palestinians as well as to the
ongoing Israeli-settler attempts to steal more territory from the
"occupied territories."
* The term "occupied territories" is used by "Muslim" Zionists for Gaza
and the West Bank. So when Israel attacks these areas or encroaches on
them, "Muslim" Zionists protest. These protests often confuse Muslims
and help to cover up the fact that the "Muslim" Zionists have rejected
Islam and specific verses of the Qur'an and Hadith narrations by
accepting the legitimacy of Israel.
The squabble between Norquist and Gaffney illustrates the competition
and leg pulling which goes on within the establishment regarding Islam
and Muslims. Norquist was of the view that CAIR, ISNA, AMC [now defunct],
etc should be brought into the power structure so that they could be
used to influence, infiltrate and control the
American Muslim communities.
Gaffney vigorously opposed Norquist and tried to create the impression
that CAIR, ISNA, AMC etc are linked to "terrorist" groups such as Hamas!
Gaffney's tactics seem to be an effort to keep himself and his friends
[Jewish Zionists] as the sole friends of the U.S. government. The
"Muslim" Zionists bent over backwards to prove their subservience to
the White House, the FBI, the Pentagon, the major media and to show
that they meant no ill will to Israel. Gaffney would have none of it.
Gaffney's outbursts got him "un-invited" by Norquist from the circle
surrounding the White House honchos.
Emerson attacks CAIR at every opportunity. His main "evidence" is the
claim that once upon a time "Islamic fundamentalists" held a camp in
mid-America in which, allegedly, weapons were present. Emerson stories
too have not been bought by the White House.
Stephen Schwartz wrote a book in which he outdid Emerson and Gaffney.
Apart from the record number of times he used the word "wahhabis,"
he claimed that the fatuous imam of the Orange County Islamic Center,
Dr. Muzammil Siddiqui, is perhaps a putative terrorist! The
"evidence" runs like this: A convert to Islam, Adam Gadahn, used to
go to Orange County's Islamic Center. Now he is with Al-Qaida and
sends out anti-American video tapes. This "proves" that Muzammil
Siddiqui could be connected to terrorists, according to the
Stephen Schwartz-Emerson-Gaffney process of "thinking."
During the tussle between the Jewish-Christian Zionists and "Muslim"
Zionists , at one point the Jewish Zionists persuaded the U.S.
government that the "Muslims" are dangerous for the USA!. The result:
a series of raids on the establishments set up by "Muslim" Zionists
to infiltrate the Muslim community. [1] As usual in such violations
of the rights of U.S. citizens after 9.11, the government was vicious
and thorough. The offices of the heavily funded "Muslim" groups were
turned upside down. In one raid the wife and daughter of Iqbal Unus
were insulted and photographed. Iqbal Unus has spent his life in the
service of pro-regime groups like ISNA-NAIT etc. Computers were
taken away, offices trashed. The "Muslim" Zionists were in a state
of shock. Their decades of tireless work in support of the American
power structure [sponsored and funded by the Saudis] had come to nothing.
The rampage was a serious error. The "Muslim" Zionists were so frightened
that they blew their own cover and more or less told the Muslims of
America that for them, American power came first and Islam, a very
"moderate" and Americanized Islam, a distant second. It was a disaster
for the U.S. government. Henceforth it was difficult for CAIR, ISNA
etc to infiltrate the Muslim communities. Slowly but steadily, the
Muslims of America left them. Only the very naive and the totally
de-politicized stayed with them.
Just about every Muslim who was raided was a staunch supporter of the
U.S. government.[3] It was a major blunder. Among the victims was
Taha Jabir al-Alwani, a sellout "Islamic" scholar who had given the
"fatwa" that it was Islamically permissible for U.S. Muslims to go into
a kafir Presidential election and cast votes. One result of
al-Alwani's fatwa was that ISNA-CAIR misled the Muslims of America
into casting a BLOC VOTE for Bush.
Gradually the Bush administration reinstated the raid victims. Months
later Al-Alwani had forgiven the U.S. government and was as much of a
flag waver as before. CAIR now openly invites FBI and government
officials to its meetings. The pretense that CAIR-ISNA are Islamic
groups is nothing more than a fig leaf now. Looking at CAIR-ISNA and
ICNA web sites one would not know that the U.S. has carried out
military invasion and occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan.
Similarly all of the Muslim political prisoners being victimized by
the U.S. are not part of the ISNA-CAIR and ICNA agendas. Prof. Sami
al-Arian's family learned the hard way that ISNA-CAIR wouldn't care
for anything which would irritate the regime. Ismail Royer, too, rapidly
lost CAIR support. [As for ICNA, it focuses on the most innocuous causes.
It seems to be searching for "harmless" issues and does not find many,
if any.]
Meanwhile Frank Gaffney hasn't given up. His latest claim is that PBS
left out his "documentary" Islam vs Islamists because PBS'
Frontline "America at a Crossroads" program found its stark truth too
strong for comfort. Gaffney's fellow traveler, Lamb, who monopolizes
the Book TV program on C-Span, gave one hour coverage to Gaffney's
complaints. Some footage from the "documentary" was shown on C-Span.
It's my candid opinion that Frontline was correct in rejecting
Gaffney's production. It's nothing more than thinly veiled
hate propaganda. Gaffney's offerings, which require an audience
willing to think uncritically, can be summed up as follows [4]:
Islamic opposition to America is based on the activities of "Islamists"
who have attempted to hijack Islam. Most Muslims follow Islam but a
few, the "Islamists," oppose America.
"Islamists" are potential terrorists.
Within the U.S. and Canada, homegrown "Islamist" terrorists are waiting
to attack as they did in London, Bali and Madrid.
All Islamic resistance movements are "Islamist" [hence terrorist]. They
do not have the Muslim world's support because most Muslims support
Islam, not "Islamism."
Thus in Gaffney's twisted mind, Hamas, Hezbollah, Al-Qaida, Kashmiri
resistance, Iraqi resistance, Jamaa Islam Indonesia, you name it, are
not Islamic but "Islamist."
If there were any doubt about Gaffney intellectual senility, it comes
from his claim that "Saudi" Arabia is behind "Islamist" terrorism.
Because CAIR-ISNA got Saudi funding in a variety of ways, he argues,
along with Emerson and Schwartz, that proves that CAIR-ISNA are
camouflaged terrorists. Weren't the 9.11 hijackers Saudis?
We don't have the heart to tell poor Gaffney that the Saudi kingdom
and the Saudi family are the biggest supporters of the U.S. in the
Middle East after Israel, the Egyptian dictator Mubarak and the playboy
ruler of Jordan King Abdullah. Gaffney conveniently forgets that the
lead 9.11 hijacker, Muhammad Atta was Egyptian and none of the others
came anywhere near him in ferocity. So why not go after Egypt?
Osama bin Laden has come near toppling the Saudi dynasty. His citizenship
was taken away by the Saudi rulers and the Saudis broke with the Taliban
when they would not hand over Osama to the U.S.
Saudi oil money is in Chase Manhattan and other U.S. banks. In the first
Gulf War, the Saudis funded and fed the ENTIRE American armada. In the
2003 assault on Iraq, the Saudi air bases were used by the U.S. air
force but the information was systematically suppressed.
Most of the people of "Saudi" Arabia support Palestine and Islamic
causes around the world. It would be impossible for the rulers to stop
their people from working for Islam without themselves being discredited
and toppled.
The U.S. government considers the Saudi family a close ally. It uses
the Jewish Zionist propaganda to pressure the family to work more
assiduously against the Islamic resistance, but there is certainly
no distance between the Saudi rulers and the U.S. rulers.
Every initiative for the recognition of Israel by the Muslim world
has come from the rulers of "Saudi" Arabia.
No wonder the U.S. government ignores the steady stream of "terrorism"
propaganda against CAIR and other Saudi-funded organizations coming
from Gaffney, Emerson and Schwartz. It however finds the propaganda to
be beneficial because it motivates the naive segments of the Muslim
community to support CAIR-ISNA and related groups.

US holding at least 39 detainees in secret prisons:

[JURIST] At least 39 "ghost detainees" [press release, PDF] have
been held by the US CIA in secret detention facilities, according
to a report [PDF text; executive summary, PDF] jointly
published Thursday by six leading human rights groups, including Amnesty
International, the Center for Constitutional Rights, the Center for
Human Rights and Global Justice, and Human Rights Watch. The report
specifically identifies three detainees, Pakistani Hassan Ghul, Saudi
Ali Abu al-Rahman al-Faqasi al-Ghamdi, and Libyan Ali Abdul-Hamid
al-Fakhiri, whose detention by the United States has been "officially
acknowledged" but whose fate and whereabouts remain unknown. Ghul and
al-Fakhiri are believed to have been held at a CIA-operated secret
detention facility in Poland [JURIST report]. All three detainees
were included in the "Terrorists No Longer a Threat" List
[transcript] that was read into the US Congressional Record last July.
The report also highlighted the detention of family members, including
children of detained suspected terrorists, some of whom have been
subjected to "coercive treatment" to further the purpose of obtaining
information about detainees. One instance cited was the detention and
interrogation of Khalid Sheik Mohammed's two sons, Yusef al-Khalid
and Abed al-Khalid, then nine and seven-years old. The children's
detention was confirmed [Daily Telegraph report] by a
CIA official in 2003, who said that their detention and the "promise
of their release and their return to Pakistan" was a "psychological
lever" to be used against Khalid Sheik Mohammed [BBC profile;
CSRT transcript, PDF].
The rights groups urged [press release] the US to end its
"silence" on the so-called "ghost detainees," and reiterated that the
US has a duty to "detain and bring to justice" criminals "in a manner
that respects human rights and the rule of law." The report also calls
for the US and foreign states that allow the US to base secret
detention facilities within their borders to grant access to the
International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) [official
website] and either promptly charge the detainees with a "recognizable
criminal offense" and bring them to trial before a court that meets
international standards or release them. In February, the European
Parliament condemned European states [JURIST report] -
including Austria, Italy, Poland, Portugal, the UK, Germany, Sweden,
Spain, Ireland, Greece, Cyprus, Denmark, Turkey, the Former Yugoslav
Republic of Macedonia, Bosnia, and Romania for their cooperation in
illegal secret prisons and extraordinary rendition flights
[JURIST report]. Several states were also accused of obstructing
European probes into the secret prison allegations, including
Poland [JURIST report], which allegedly housed the largest
CIA secret detention facility in Europe [JURIST report]. President
Bush acknowledged the existence of the secret CIA facilities
[JURIST report] last September, but provided no details on their
location or operation.
LATEST WAR NEWS:
AFGHANISTAN:
June 9, 2007. While Karzai was visiting Ghazni, his compound
came under Taliban rocket attack. The Taliban rockets missed Karzai
but caused dozens of casualties among his supporters. The attack is
a serious setback for his future because Karzai's regime has been
claiming that it is winning against the Taliban and has killed
152 Taliban! [No evidence of any such losses.]
June 9: British forces beat back a Taliban ambush in the Singin area
of Kandahar province. One British soldier was killed and 4 wounded
in the fighting.
In Kandahar city itself, 11 Karzai police officers, including
the second in command of the countrywide Karzai police apparatus,
General Daud Salih, were killed in a daredevil Taliban attack.
U.S. troop losses indicate that ten U.S. troops were killed in
recent fighting in Afghanistan. However, the media reported only one
fatality, on June 5.
The British media reported on June 10, that 60 British troops
have been killed in Afghanistan. No details were provided. Thus it
appears that Taliban victory reports were accurate.
In Badghis province, advancing Taliban were hit hard and lost

On June 2, in Helmand province's Naja Siraj district, 10
civilians were killed and 7 wounded in a U.S. air raid.
Also on June 2, U.S. planes bombed a village in district Zari of
Kandahar province, killing 20 civilians according to villagers.
