As we go to the "press," at the call of the MMA Islamic coalition,
masses of people in the Frontier Province of Pakistan are
demonstrating against the bombing of an Islamic school in Bajaur.
Hafiz Saeed, leader of Jamaat ad-da'wa has called for
countrywide prayers in absentia on Friday for the innocents
killed in Bajaur [See New Trend's special report below including
interview with Syed Munawar Hasan, JI Sec. general].
Latest Israeli aggression: November 3. Israeli tank columns covered
by helicopter gunships entered Beit Hanoun in Gaza and assaulted
Palestinians in their homes. First reports indicate 6 Palestinians
were killed and 50 wounded. A few Palestinians used light arms to
fire back killing one Israeli terrorist.

Fires deliberately set by arsonists have burned 48,000 acres of prime
land in California. Five fire fighters died in the attempts to
contain the fires. Fire fighters are usually volunteers and are
among the best people in America. A $25,000 reward has been been
announced for the arrest of the arsonists. A deep sickness
afflicts this beautiful country.
Rush Limbaugh and he Vast Right Wing Empire of Ignorance:
Earlier this week radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh made fun of
Michael J. Fox , a star/celebrity who is a victim of Parkinson's
disease. Parkinson's makes a person shake all over. Limbaugh
claimed that Michael was faking it and imitated the Parkinson's
victim. Limbaugh was upset because Michael was supporting
embryonic stem cell research. Limbaugh is known for his
ignorant and borderline racist remarks. His ignorance knows no
bounds. Every now and then he tries to debunk reports on
environmental pollution and claims that global warming
is not a reality.
What's most interesting about Limbaugh is that he has a HUGE right
wing audience as well as support from the Likud Party in Israel.
He has been a visitor to Israel. People have to be terribly ignorant
and bigoted to admire Limbaugh. This is the Republican support base.
[Medical research is strongly supported by Islam. A famous Hadith of
the Prophet Muhammad, pbuh, laid the foundations of medical
research. The Hadith is reported from him in the most famous
book of Hadith as follows:
"The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be on him, said:
Allah has not created any disease for which there is no cure."

Some of the best doctors today are Muslims.

Mourning Our 80 Children killed by the U.S. & Pakistani Air Force:
New Trend joins the Pakistani people in mourning the 80 children and
three teachers killed in the coordinated U.S. and Pakistani air
strikes on an Islamic school near the town of Khar in the Bajaur
area of Pakistan's Frontier Province. The mass murder carried out
jointly by the U.S. and Pakistan's military forces has sent shock
waves throughout Pakistan. The Pakistani people now see specific
evidence of the blind hatred directed by Bush and Musharraf at
the Islamic populations of Pakistan and other Muslim countries.
Jamaat-e Islami Leader Syed Munawar Hasan tells New Trend:
This was a U.S. Operation.
On October 30, 2006 immediately after news of the massacre in Pakistan
was broadcast in the U.S., New Trend interviewed Syed Munawar Hasan
about the tragedy. Br. Hasan, Secretary General of Jamaat-e Islami
and a key organizer of MMA [the Islamic coalition] is more informed
than most Pakistanis about the situation in Pakistan. Here are
excerpts from the interview:
New Trend: Asalamu alaikum . How are you? How was Ramadan ...
Syed Munawar Hasan: Today something very tragic has happened...
NT: Yes, that's what I want to ask you about. It seems that "your"
army has outdone the Americans and the Israelis in killing Muslims.
80 Muslims killed in one shot!
SMH: This was an American attack. We hold America responsible for
the attack.
NT: But the Pakistani army itself is saying that it carried out
the attack...
SMH: Yes, the generals are trying to take "credit" by covering up
for America. But we are not fooled. This is not the first time that
they have bombed Pakistan.
NT: But why do you want to let the Pakistani army off the hook?
You know what kind of army it is. It will commit any crime
against Islam...
SMH: Yes, but when Israel attacks Lebanon, it is the hand of
America coming out of the Israeli sleeve. Pakistan provides America
the intelligence and logistics and they bomb our people.
NT: U.S. TV is saying this Islamic school was a shelter for
militants, al-Qaidah, Taliban...
SMH: These were children who were killed, teenagers memorizing
the Qur'an. Their bodies were blown to bits, into little pieces
of meat. People had to go around collecting the scattered pieces
of flesh. This is a declaration of war against Pakistan.
Look, the government could have easily surrounded the school
and arrested those inside. Instead, the school was subjected to
bombardment from the air. This was a deliberate atrocity.
At very short notice, we are calling for demonstrations to
protest the carnage.
[NT comment: For the first time, we noticed that Syed Munawar Hasan
was upset and angry. Jamaat-e Islami and other Islamic groups
have a serious problem. They are unwilling to confront the army with
physical force. They demonstrate peacefully but General Musharraf is
untouched by peaceful protests. The other major Islamic force in
Pakistan, Jamaat-e ad-Da'wa, is vocally opposed to
confrontation with the army. The overall result is that the Islamic
center of gravity is slowly but steadily slipping into the hands of
the Taliban who believe in armed resistance to both Pakistani
and NATO militaries.]
[Nawaz Sharif, the exiled leader of Pakistan Muslim League, the
last elected Prime Minister of Pakistan who was toppled by Musharraf,
strongly condemned the massacre of 83 innocents by the Pakistani
military. He said, in the light of these atrocities, there can be
no question of compromise with Musharraf.]
EYE WITNESS ACCOUNTS of the Massacre in Bajaur on October 30.
The Urdu language newspapers in Pakistan have published eye
witness accounts of the attack on the Islamic school. Here are
the main points.

Zia al-Uloom Talim ul-Qur'an is an Islamic school located in the
village of Mamun Chinagai, 10 km from the town of Khar in the
Bajaur tribal area which abuts Afghanistan. [Pakistan troops
have been fighting Islamic groups in Waziristan, not Bajaur.]

At 5 AM an American drone, local leaders say, was heard monitoring
the area. As the sleeping students got up and rushed to get out,
two planes [alleged to be U.S.] appeared and fired missiles. The
children were obliterated by the missiles fired by the planes.

According to a local Peoples Party representatives, Akhundzade,
almost all those killed , 80 of them, were children 7 to 15 years
old. Their bodies were blown to bits, he said. Their relatives
were able to identify them only by their shoes and clothes. He
said, the government has challenged the self-respect and honor of
the tribal people.

Of the 80 children killed, 30 had memorized the entire Qur'an. They
had gathered in the Madressa to attempt to fast 6 days in Shawwal
as mentioned in the Hadith.

After the missile attacks, 3 Pakistani helicopters appeared and
fired rockets into the already smashed school and into the
neighboring hilly areas.

The Principal of the school, Maulana Muhammad Liaqat, his two sons
and 3 nephews were among the martyrs. Liaqat was a local leader of
Tehreeke Nifaze Shariat which has been banned by Musharraf.
He was a well known supporter of the Taliban and locally very popular.

General Musharraf's representative, General Shaukat Sultan held a
press conference in Rawalpindi to take credit for the attack. He
said, the 80 killed were "terrorists" and the regime had proof that
Liaqat was using the school to train terrorists. Later Musharraf
himself issued a statement claiming that those killed were known
terrorists and were appropriately dealt with. He promised a similar
fate for all other "terrorists."
AFTERMATH:

Nearly 40,000 people gathered for the funeral prayers of the 80
martyred children and their 3 teachers. The funeral prayers were
led by Sirajul Haq, Jamaat-e Islami's elected representative. He
said later that he is planning to resign because the regime does
not consult with any elected representatives before its operations.

Some reports indicate that Faqir Muhammad, the Pakistani representative
of top al-Qaidah Islamic leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, addressed the huge
gathering and urged the people to rise up in Jihad.

Syed Munawar Hasan turned out to be correct. In response to reports
that the attack was carried out by the U.S., General Sultan admitted
that intelligence and direction for the attack was provided by the
U.S. However, he insisted that the attacks were carried out by
Pakistan and not by the U.S. [October 31]

On October 23 Ahmed was supposed to get a call home for the Eid.
He asked for the whole family, his wife Lisa, the children
and his brother, to be there between 11:00 am - 3:00 PM. So they
all sat there waiting. Finally they realized something was wrong,
that he wasn't going to call. Around 4:00 PM Lisa received a call
from Ken Paul, one of the attorneys. She knew something was
definitely wrong.
Then Paul informed Lisa that because Ahmed spoke to his neighbor,
which we have since come to learn is a clear violation of the SAMs,
his family visits and phone calls have been taken away for 3
months. Ahmed is due to be moved at anytime now to a new
facility. So they have succeeded in preventing his family from
seeing him at least one more time before this move takes
place..Please keep him Ahmed in your prayers.
[SAMs are special administrative measures imposed by the U.S.
government which make it illegal for Islamic prisoners from talking
to anyone. Monthly family and attorney visits are carefully
monitored. If the prisoner says a word which is "objectionable,"
he loses all visits for three months. The Jews blame Hitler for
being rough on prisoners. History shows that Hitler never treated
his prisoners as badly as the U.S. is doing with Islamic
prisoners. He never tried to stop prisoners from talking to each other]

What does it teach Muslims/African-Americans?

I was reading a disturbing article in the 10/22/2006 edition of the
Star-Ledger, a New Jersey paper. The article, "A Growing
Divide", talks about a once seemingly thriving community that
consisted of reform Jews and black and white Christians that has
been overrun by ultra-Orthodox Jews. They are Haredi Jews. Robert
Singer, a Republican Jew stated, "the Orthodox have done a lot for
this community, but they are never going to be apart of this
community." The Haredi are dead-set against assimilation of any kind.
This Orthodox Jewish population began to grow in the 1990's but
ballooned after September 11, 2001 when the brooklyn Jews moved
to Lakewood. It is estimated that in a town of 75,000 that 45,000
of them are Haredi Jews. They have since taken over the mayoral
office, planning committees and school boards. The areas that they
have chosen to settle in were once African-American. What Orthodox
Jews have done is offer higher than market rate prices for these
homes in an effort to buy out whole neighborhoods and move in.
A Shomrim, a jewish neighborhood watch group, was formed after a
young Orthodox woman had been sexually assaulted. However, according
to Lakewood Public Safety Director Al peters they act more like
"an independent police department."
The local NAACP is demanding an investigation into the recent assault
of a 17 year old African-American, who was walking through what was
later determined to be a public alley behind a Jewish housing
complex. Elchonon Zimmerman jumped the boy and other Haredi Jews
came to help in the assault. A racial slur was used against this
victim but no bias charges were filed. Zimmerman was arrested and
charged with simple assault.
There are also charges of police bias toward the Haredi Jews. In
many instances, double parked delivery trucks to Orthodox stores
are never ticketed but other car owners are. Glenn Bradford, a
local minister and anti-poverty activist, said, "I understand how
people in the minority communities are getting frustrated, but you
can't fault the Jewish community for uniting and working for what
they've got."
Okay, here's what many African-Americans and Muslims don't
understand about America. The things they allow white people
(Jewish or Christian) to do are not the same things they will
allow us to do, at least not as easily. I do agree with one thing
that these Haredi Jews are doing and that is avoiding assimilation
at all costs.
The progress of African-Americans has been slowed by their belief
that they are apart of American society and that to achieve
"equality" they have to go through years and years of lawsuits
against local and state governments to accomplish such things as
creating a curriculum of inclusion in the educational system.
Instead of demanding that master let us into his house, black
educators could've created hundreds of little private schools all
over the country! These are the same kinds of schools I attended
growing up in Harlem, NY.
Progress won't be as easy for us because our communities are under
constant attack unlike any other by anti-Muslim, racist zealots.
The black community is a prime example of how busy shaitan is.
The response to the Black Power Movement of the 1970's was heroin
and then, the 1980's crack epidemic. For every positive action
there has been a negative reaction.
The Haredi Jews recognize American society's corrupt ways. When are
we Muslims and African-American's going to realize it and declare
our independence? These Haredi Jews have something I see missing in
our communities and that is pride in their culture. No one can tell
them anything because according to them everyone else is wrong and
they are right.
