ON KATRINA's ANNIVERSARY:
Remember that the storm veered off and did not hit New Orleans
directly. The tragedy came about because the levees broke and
the government did not tell the people that the levees had
broken. We know, because relatives of a Jamaat al-Muslimeen
sister/leader were there; her sister helped people in the
superdome. It was a clear cut case of institutional racism
as Minister Farrakhan and others have pointed out. They point
to the difference between the treatment of 9.11 victims and
Katrina victims.
BRAVE WORDS:
SUDAN's Islamic leaders have announced that they will fight UN
forces if they try to land in Sudan on the excuse of helpng
Darfur suffering. Sudan says it is inspired by Hizbullah's
resistance to Israel.

Desperate attempt to assimilate into the non-Islamic way of life.

Good work Finds its Own way: The Story of ONE Card
Our representative went to a Juma' prayer in Upper Marlbro,
southern PG county just outside Washington, DC. It was a small
gathering, about 15 people in a church. Disappointed but
persistent, our rep. gave the BOYCOTT of pro-Israel businesses
CARD to the few people there.
One of the cards found its way days later to an African-American
Muslimah, a doctor. She was so impressed by it, she printed up
300 cards. On August 12, she went to the big anti-war rally
called by AN.S.W.E.R in Washington and gave out all the cards,
alhamdulillah.
Reaching out to Immigrant Muslims at Masjid Rahma, western Baltimore
On August 25, 2006 Jamaat al-Muslimeen's gave out an appeal to
241 Muslims at Baltimore's Masjid Rahma [also known as Islamic
Society of Baltimore or ISB]. Between 500 and 600 people attended
the prayer. The appeal calls on U.S. Muslims to HELP the FAMILIES
of Muslim political prisoners as well as other causes dear to
America's Muslims, including help for oppressed women and for
children of poor families in Africa and Bangladesh.
STARBUCKS: Violating the rights of its own workers
[From Jamaat al-Muslimeen, Brooklyn, New York]
Jamaat has been urging Muslims not to buy from Starbucks which
supports and funds Israel and gets its beans from near-slave
labor in Rwanda. Now we find that Starbucks is repressing its
own workers, trying to break a union and terminating an employee
who refuses to spy on co-workers. Here is the appeal from Brooklyn:
1) Do not spend your hard earned money at Starbucks until the
company respects the right of workers to organize and reinstates
Daniel Gross and the rest of the IWW baristas. Let the company know
you are taking a stand by participating in a new email action:

2) Obtain a resolution or pledge from your community group, labor
union, or house of worship agreeing to stay way from Starbucks
products until justice is done. Please send copies to

3) Hold a rally or leafleting action at Starbucks in support of
the right to organize and in defense of the fired union baristas
if you feel that's appropriate in your local community. Please
check in with the baristas at the store before hand to involve
them in the action.
LATEST OVERSEAS NEWS: from New Trend's Media Monitor
IRAQ: August 25. A new burst of fighting is reported but the
U.S. refuses to give details. It admits that SIX U.S. troops have
been killed in the last two days. However, the BBC reported that
heavy fighting occurred in Ramadt, a stronghold of Islamic
resistance where the U.S. killed 3 Iraqis. The U.S. death toll
is now 2617.
AFGHANISTAN: First FRENCH Losses
On August 26, a French armored column came under Taliban
attack south of Kandhar. U.S. media say that 2 French soldiers
were killed, 5 wounded. They claim 7 Taliban killed.
The U.S. reported that its troops had killed 7 al-Qaida and
a child in Kunar province on August 24. However, local Afghan
police says, ALL those killed were civilians, including the 10
year old child. Even Karzai is shocked and has asked for an
'investigation.'
Meanwhile, the blundering Canadian troops opened fire on
Karzai's police, killing one and wounding 5. [August 26] They
don't know what Taliban look like.
PAKISTANI DRAMA:
Jamaat ad-Da'wa Refuses to be Banned: Musharraf Upset
Pakistan's regime placed Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, leader of Jamaat
ad-Da'wa, under house arrest and refused permission to the
organization to hold a public rally on August 14. However, when
August 14 [Pakistan's birth anniversary] came around, more than
2000 ad-Da'wa Islamists gathered in front of the Press Club in
Lahore to urge Pakistan to stand firm on Kashmir. The police had
gathered at the wrong place to stop them.
Jamaat ad-Da'wa gatherings were also held in 31 other Pakistani
cities, including TWO in the sprawling metropolis of Karachi.
General Musharraf was upset and on August 25 sent his agents to
kidnap Hafiz Saeed from his house. The Islamic leader has
disappeard. His wife has petitioned the High Court for his
release. The court has ordered the government to bring the
evidence, if any, against the Islamist. [Hafiz Saeed continues
to tell his fighters not to confront the army, although his people
are the only ones who have the ability to do so, other than the
Taliban in Waziristan.]
KASHMIR: New fighting is reported between Indian occupation forces
and Islamic fighters. Both sides suffered; five Indian troops and 3
mujahideen were killed.

Badi Ali, Jamaat al-Muslimeen leader in Greensboro, North Carolina
told New Trend, August 24, that groundwork needs to be done for an
international organization of Muslim, and non-Muslim nations who
are not against Islam, to build their own international body. Here
are his main points:

Unbelievable but true: Even after Israel's genocidal bombing of
Lebanon, the UN did not utter ONE word of condemnation of Israel.
Instead, the UN wants to disarm Hizbullah thus signalling that it
is in fact working for Israel and the U.S.

Even getting a cease fire out of the Security Council was a serious
problem. Imagine the disaster for the Muslim world if the Israeli
terror group IDF had broken through Hizbullah defense lines.
-
Even while the fighting was going on in Lebanon, the Security Council
met and quckly passed a resolution against Iran's nuclear program.
-
Some Muslims are mislead by the tactics of France, Russia and China.
These countries sometimes seem to differ with the U.S. but this has
to do only with their national interests. It has nothing to do with
the suffering of Muslims. They are completely silent about military
operations going on in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Most shamefully, the UN is literally letting Israel get away
with murder in Gaza and the West Bank. Every day the Israelis
kill defenseless Palestinians, not only adult opponents of Israel
but also mothers and children.

Thus there is NO PLACE for Islam and the aspirations of the world's
ONE BILLION Muslims in the UN Security Council.

At this time it seems difficult because the Muslim world is riddled
with rulers who are no more than puppets of the U.S.; however,
groundbreaking work needs to be done to give an international voice
to Islam and the global Muslim ummah.
RADIO INTERVIEW
British-Pakistanis and Alleged Airplanes Terror Plot:
Big Holes in the Blair Regime's Story
"Make it Plain" is a program heard on Exim Radio chanell 169 across
the U.S. over the radio grid known as "On the Power," a major voice
in African-American radio programming. On August 21, 2006
Dr. Wilmer Leon was the host of "Make it Plain" and invited
Dr. Kaukab Siddique for a half-an-hour long LIVE interview.
On August 21, the New York Times published a report by
Neil MacFarquhar which compared Pakistanis living in Britain
with Pakistani communities in the U.S., particularly the one
most visible in the Devon street area of Chicago. MasFarquhar
came to the conclusion that British Pakistanis are prone to
be lured by terrorism owing to their ghettoization and
economic conditions while U.S. Pakistanis have resisted terrorism
because of their better economic conditions and level of education.
Dr. Leon asked Dr. Siddique to analyze the New York Times
report. Here are the main points of Dr. Siddique's analysis of
the New York Times report:

Collective judgement on a community, such as British Pakistanis,
is a form of stereotyping which reduces the objectivity of the
journalistic endeavor. There is no verifiable evidence that poor
job rates and fewer educational facilities in Britain have made
terrorism attractive for Pakistanis.

The New York Times has no evidence, other than the word of
the Blair government, that the British Pakistanis arrested in the
alleged plot are in fact terrorists or even terrorist "wannabees."
Remember that a person must be treated as innocent until proven
guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Without such proof, the
NY Times story is based on an assumption which may be false.
It constitutes shoddy journalism.

The Blair government's recital of the alleged terror plot does
not stand up to critical scrutiny. We are told that the plotters
were under surveillance since December [for about 8 months].
Hence the question arises, why were they outed on August 10?
The timing is significant.
-
The first report said that British intelligence had inserted an
INFORMER into the alleged terror group. Who is this informer? Is
he credible or was he involved in the entrapment of opponents of
the British government? As we know, informers were used in Canada
to arrest Muslims, and more recently in Florida an informer had
some Haitians arrested who were angry at the U.S. government. Big
claims were made against the alleged terrorists but without a
credible informer, entrapment of opponents is evident. As in
Canada and Miami, the British informer's identity is a total secret.

As for the timing, the terror plot story emerged at a time very
convenient for the Bush administration and the Republican party:
1. The Israeli advance into Lebanon had been thwarted and Israel's
powerful army looked mediocre. The terror plot immediately removed
the Lebanon story from the TV screens.
2. The defeat of Joseph Lieberman at the hands of a newcomer in a
straight fight on the issue of the Iraq war sent shock waves
through Republican ranks. [Lieberman was a camouflaged Republican.]
The sudden new threat of the danger of terrorism was the only way
the Republican party could regain credibility with the American public.

Remember that the Bush administration was embarrassed by the
Israeli performance in Lebanon and badly needed a diversion after
30 days of a fruitless "offensive" by Israel. Every night Israel
moved ever deeper into Lebanon on U.S. TV screens. Suddenly the
American public realized that the fighting was still continuing
in the Bint Jibeil area where it had been on day one of the
Israeli offensive, about 2 miles from the Israeli border.

The Pakistanis in the Devon street area of Chicago are as
ghettoized as the Pakistanis in Britain. I have been to Devon
street and it's like a little Pakistan. It's a false assumption
that British Pakistanis do not want to assimilate or are
alienated against Britain, and the American Pakistanis are
not alienated against the U.S. Social attitudes are determined
by individual intentions and insights. Immigrants, rich or poor,
high school dropouts or university graduates, are upwardly
mobile and want to assimilate and succeed. Pakistanis are not
different from other immigrants in this matter, as the
available data shows.

Now let's look at the specific Pakistani individuals in Britain:
24 of them were arrested. Two were released a few days later.
Of the remainig 22, only 11 are being charged, which means that
EVEN BEFORE A TRIAL, the Blair government's claims are 50% false.

The Pakistani end of the story does not look credible either.
General Musharraf is in power owing to U.S. support and the
$1 billion bribe from the U.S. He finds it convenient to hand
over some Muslims to the Bush-Blair camp every now and then to
earn his keep. Blair's credibility is low owing to his role in
the claims of WMD against Iraq which led to war. Musharraf's
crediblity is even lower because most of the people he handed
over to the U.S. were innocent and are gradually being sent
home after spending several years in Guantanamo Bay.

None of the alleged plotters approached a plane nor was anyone
arrested while on the way to attack a plane. NOT ONE of the
plotters was, even allegedly, in the U.S. and no danger of any
kind was coming from any specific source in the U.S., yet the
American travelling public was subjected to a systematic campaign
of fear and danger, with innocent American women being forced to
throw away their lipsticks and gatorade for fear of
"liquid explosions."

In a real war, the enemy's moves are NEVER publicized. Anyone who
spreads fear and stories of danger in public is arrested as an
agente provocateur. Yet here we see the government itself
publicizing the moves of the enemy and terrifying its own citizens.
A government which does not want to scare the public would arrest
the enemies and bring in restrictions on travel items
WITHOUT PUBLICITY.

During the Second World War, German agents landed in Florida and
were quietly disposed off. In Britain, there was a huge panic
during a German air attack: dozens died in the stampede, but it
was not publicized.
After this interview, it turned out that charges have been brought
against only 8 of the alleged plotters. Of these, one, a woman, is
being accused of NOT informing against her family. Another person
has been released.
Longest Sentence for a Minor "Crime"
Don't fool the world that Muslims in America are living happily.
Sentenced to 90 Years in Prison,
Masaud Khan Never Tried to Harm America
[Shameful and brazen injustice against U.S. Muslims has become the
norm under the Zionist regime installed in Washington, DC. The U.S.
sentenced a Pakistani-American Masaud Khan to a record breaking 90
years in prison. Why? because he allegedly visited a camp of
anti-India fighters in Pakistan and fired three shots at a fixed
target. Who is Masaud Khan, a terrorist or a peaceful citizen of
the U.S.? Here is an introduction.]
Masaud was born on July 3, 1971 in Washington, D.C.
His mother, Elisabeth, grew up in Washington, D.C. Her family has
lived in Washington for 5 generations. At the time of her marriage,
she and her husband moved to Rockville, Maryland and subsequently
to Gaithersburg, where the family has resided for many years.
His father, Fazal Khan, was born in 1926 in Northwest Pakistan.
He immigrated to the United States in 1954, became a naturalized
U.S. citizen, attended the University of Maryland and received
his degree in Electrical Engineering. In 1958 Fazal married
Elisabeth and began to raise a family. His employment included
(1) the University of Maryland,
(2) Baltimore Power Plant as a turbine engineer,
(3) Bechtel Corp., and
(4) Professor of Engineering and Physics at the University in Jeddah,
Saudi Arabia and finally as
(5) Science/Math Instructor for Saudi Arabian Airlines.
Following retirement, he spent some time in Pakistan and died
unexpectedly in 1992.
Masaud grew up in Pakistan, America and Saudi Arabia and
attended American schools while abroad. As a child Masaud enjoyed
sports such as soccer and baseball, and swimming. He attended
Gaithersburg High School, but left public schooling in his last
year, and earned his GED (high school) certificate in 1991. Masaud
attended Montgomery College, majoring in Computer Science. He was
married in June 2000 and his son, Ebraheem, was born in Maryland in 2003.
At the time of his arrest in 2003, Masaud was working as a
kitchen designer for Home Depot, and was a student on the honor
roll at Montgomery College, majoring in Architecture.
At his sentencing in June 2004, Masaud said:
I am an American citizen, born in this country, and will always
maintain my innocence of conspiring and intending to bring any
harm upon the American people. I have no doubt that I am innocent
of the charges brought against me and that surely justice will
prevail in good time.
"...the government has tried to say that I am following a brand of
Islam that is ruthless, demonic, and which tries to force its will
upon others. There can be nothing further from the truth."
Masaud is facing a life sentence because he is a victim of the
US Government.
Masaud has no criminal record. He is a well-adjusted member of
the community, married and father of one child. The U.S.
Attorney General, in a paranoid and un-American witch hunt,
has seized his First Amendment freedoms – freedom of religion,
freedom of assembly, freedom of speech. If these freedoms can be
stripped from Masaud, then they can be stripped from you and me
– or any American.
ISLAMIC EXPERT SAYS: ISNA VIOLATING ISLAM
Dr. Omar Afzal, Ithaca, New York, who has been tracking
the movements of the moon for the last 25 plus years told New Trend,
August 26, that ISNA's ["Islamic Society of North America"] new
decision to ignore moon sighting is clear violation of the Qur'an
and the Hadith. Scientifically too, it is misleading and incorrect
because of time zones and the curvature of the earth. For instance,
Sha'ban began on August 26, not on August 25, although the new moon
was born on August 23, because the moon was born after 9 PM on
August 23 and was way down in the south.
New Trend urges urges Muslims to stick to the Sunnah of Muhammad,
pbuh. Islam must be followed as the blessed leader of humanity,
peace be on him, wanted us to follow it. Assimilation into kufr
and agreement with the Jews is not part of Islamic thinking.
Muslims are waking up and there has been a flurry of rejection of
ISNA's Qadiani type [pleasing those in power] move. Here is the

Shaban will be on Saturday 26.
The Hilal Committee of Metropolitan Toronto & Vicinity team announces
that the hilal/crescent was not sighted anywhere in North America on
the evening of Thursday the 29th of Rajab corresponding with the 24th
of August 2006. Therefore Rajab will complete its cycle of 30 days
and the 1st of Shaban 1427 will be on Saturday, corresponding the
26 of August 2006.
Actual Sighting (ru'yah) of the Hilal is in accordance to the Quran
The Hilal Committee as always will continue to determine all
Islamic months through the actual local sighting of the moon
with the naked eye (ru'yah) as instructed in accordance to the
Quran and Sunnah. Recently ISNA Fiqh Council has announced otherwise
and has predetermined the beginning and end of Ramadan and Eidain
based upon calculations.
